Open the editor by right clicking the tray icon of Wallpaper Engine and choosing Create Wallpaper. Now choose New Web Wallpaper in the modal dialog of the editor.

Choose a name for your wallpaper and select the directory containing your web files. This directory needs to contain an index.html file at least and may include further JavaScript, HTML or image files required by your wallpaper.

Press OK to create your new wallpaper and get started. Your files will be imported now and the preview should start showing your wallpaper.

Change the default scheme color by clicking on the color chooser button. This color will be applied to Windows along with your wallpaper if the user chose to enable color adjustments.

With everything set up, open the prepare to publish menu:

Adjust the settings as you need. To apply tags, start typing in the tags window and the auto complete feature should show up to show you possible tags.

You are also required to create a preview image, click on Take Snapshot to record an image in the editor or import an image you created by hand by clicking Import Image.

To take an image in the editor, use the left mouse button to drag a square to define the image bounds and hit enter when you’re satisfied to save the image.

When everything is done, hit Publish to Steam in the bottom right corner and wait for all data to be uploaded. You can continue editing your workshop item on Steam afterwards to add additional screenshots or videos.

This section of the Wallpaper Engine designer documentation will guide you through the creation of wallpapers based on image files. The Wallpaper Engine editor caters to casual and more advanced users and allows you to add various elements and effects to your wallpapers.

The following effects are included with Wallpaper Engine by default. You can find more community-made effects by clicking on Workshop at the top of the editor and then Browse Assets on Workshop.

Click on an effect to learn more about it. We recommend experiment with different effects for different purposes. For example, the Shake effect can be utilized to simulate breathing and the different water effects can often be used to simulate wind, clouds and smoke, be creative!

# Animation Effects

Foliage Sway

Animates the corners of the image and adds a wind motion. Useful to animate grass and bushes to sway in the wind.

Iris Movement

Adds motion to the eyes of a character and makes them look around realisitcally.

Pulse

Adds a color pulse to the image. Can be used to animate flickering or pulsating lights.

Scroll

Continuously scrolls the image in a direction.

Shake

Alternates part of the image back and forth. Can be used for objects but also useful for animating breathing characters.

Rotates part of the image continuously. Can be used for wheels, for example.

Swing

Swings part of the image back and forth. Can be used for signs, roof lights, flags or other swinging objects.

Twirl

Applies a spiral animation to the image. Can be useful for wheels, galaxies or any other spinning object.

Water Flow

Simulates a continuous flow on the image in-place. The section that this effect is applied to will be repeated on a small scale. Sometimes also useful for clouds and smoke.

Water Ripple

Distorts the image to add a ripple effect. The effect can optionally be scrolled along a specified direction.

Water Waves

Applies an abstract water wave to the image. Can be used for cloth or hair animations as well.

# Blur Effects

Applies a coarse gaussian blur to the image. Significantly more performant than Blur Precise.

Blur Precise

Applies a precise gaussian blur to the image. Useful to achieve better results with outlines, god ray effects and similar.

Motion Blur

Blurs the animation on the image by accumulating the picture over time.

Disclaimer: The following guide is purely meant for educational purposes regarding animating wallpapers or extracting raw images for personal use. Re-uploading other creators’ content is strongly discouranged and the consequences fall upon the user.

That’s the parallax effect and I use it so that portrait images can be viewed in full. In case you just want to focus on one part of the images you can disable it on the right side under Properties. For the sake of compleition I will explain all of the options you have in setting a wallpaper.

1) Scheme color: When creating a wallpaper, a color is chosen base on the general color tone of the wallpaper. The background behind the wallpaper is set to this color.

2) Mouse parallax: The parallax effect is used to move the image layer relative to position of the mouse cursor on your screen. Disabling it stops all such movements.

5) Playback rate: As the name suggests, it controls the playback rate of the animations included in the wallpaper.

I usually include these three pieces of information in the following format:

Open the editor by clicking this button in the main window:

Create a new 2D scene wallpaper:

Enter a title and choose the resolution of the image you want to animate:

Select the image on the left, use the gizmos at the top to move or scale the image. If you entered the resolution in the beginning, the image should be centered already.

Make sure the image is selected, then click Add Effect on the right:

Choose Water Ripple and apply it.

The paint brush tools are visible now. Change the value to 0 and click Clear, this will reset the entire mask to 0.

Now change the value to 255 and start drawing on the image. Draw the portions where you want the water to be animated by the ripple effect, in this case, just the water fall. Click OK to save the mask!

Adjust the remaining settings to tweak the effect, here are mine:

Click on ‘renderable’ at the top on the right to return to the image. Or click the image on the left.

Go to Add Effect again and choose Water Flow.

Start drawing on the water pond. Move the cursor in the direction you want the water to flow in. Click OK to save the mask!

If you drew over a portion you don’t want to be animated, change the value to 0 and draw over it. This will make the image static again where you draw. Make sure to play with the opacity and hardness settings to draw smooth or with hard boundaries.

Adjust the remaining settings as you see fit. Here are mine:

Optionally you can add presets or foliage. Click on Add to add them:

I added light shafts and the fern model. You can also easily create your own ferns, just drag and drop them into the editor and add the Foliage Sway effect. Tweak their properties a bit to make them look more natural, otherwise their animations will be perfectly in sync.

Choose a matching scheme color for the wallpaper and take a preview snapshot. Now the wallpaper can be published and shared with others, just click the publish button.

Now choose a name for your wallpaper and optionally the Dome template. This will provide you with a few assets that will be added to your project by default, but you can also choose the Empty template if you intend to import everything yourself. For the rest of this tutorial we will presume that the Dome template was used.

Press Ok to create your new wallpaper and get started. If you chose a template, the template wizard will show up and allow you to do some preliminary configuration. You can open the template wizard later at any time from the menu too.

Select the model file that you have already exported or export your model now. Make sure that all required textures are located next to the model in the same directory.

After selecting your model file, you can choose a shader for each of your materials. For now go either with Generic or Generic normal mapped (depending on whether you are using a normal map or not).

Click Ok to import and compile your files. This may take a moment depending on your model and texture sizes.

A new instance of your model should be added to your scene automatically right after import, you can also add further instances by dragging your model from Assets into the Scene graph.

Warning: If your model doesn’t show up it may be too large or small. Fit it into a cube of 1x1x1 size in your modeling tool for good measure or scale it in the editor as explained below.

For now, select the new instance by clicking on it once.

You will now be able to configure the shaders used by your model on the right by adjusting the sliders.

And you can choose a gizmo at the top to translate, rotate and scale your model.

Click on the Camera tab to switch to camera mode.

If you used the Dome template, there will be several default paths existing already. To try them out, select one and click on play.

Remove the camera paths you don’t like by clicking the red X next to them. Create more paths as you see fit by repeating the following:

1. Click Add Path to create a new empty path.
2. Select the new path and choose a duration on the right.
3. Drag the yellow tick on the timeline to a time where you want to add a keyframe.
4. Move the camera of the preview window to a position you are content with.
5. Click Add Key to add a new keyframe, a red tick will appear in the timeline.
6. Add at least a second keyframe to finish the camera animation.

Hint: Move the camera around by clicking and holding the left mouse button in the preview window and using WASD. You can also roll the camera with the right mouse button. Roll will be reset when moving the camera, use it only when recording keyframes.

today we’re introducing Wallpaper Engine 2.1 for Windows and Android with a wide range of new features, overall improvements and bug fixes. We will walk you through some of the most impactful new features in this update.

Another highly requested feature was the ability to allow for users to import their own images and even videos into existing wallpapers created with the Wallpaper Engine editor. These altered versions of a wallpaper can then also be shared on the Steam Workshop as so-called wallpaper presets. We are sure this will lead to a whole new series of popular and highly customizable wallpapers, so be on the look out for new and updated wallpapers with this feature!

Previously, when you wanted to utilize certain perspective effects in the editor, the process was rather tedious and required manual number input. We have now released a new set of editor «gizmos» that you can use to change the perspective of certain effects more intuitively.

In addition to the improvements to the perspective effects, we have also added two new effects to the editor with their own highly-customizable gizmo. These two effects can be utilized in a wide area of use-cases and make certain animations much easier to implement:

With Wallpaper Engine 2.1, we are further improving on the puppet warp animation system in the wallpaper editor. One of the main new features are inverse kinematics animations. Inverse kinematics are an advanced functionality which allow you to create complex animations for limbs and joints of a character.

To make it even easier to find new wallpapers and content creators, we have overhauled some aspects of the Discover tab in the app. You will can now find new collection elements in the discover tab that allow you to find popular authors and wallpaper collections more easily.

Hey everyone, today we are releasing a new update for the Windows & Android version of Wallpaper Engine. The updates mainly add some new features that we did not finish for the initial release of the Android app, and fixes issues that were reported to us over the last few weeks.

Allowing for the free alignment of wallpapers was one of the most common requests we received. We have now added the ability to do this. To free align your wallpaper, change the alignment option from «Cover» to «Free», you can then rotate and zoom the wallpaper with your fingers to freely position it on your mobile device just the way you want it.

This feature is mainly useful for wallpapers that have a widescreen resolution for computer screens. Make sure to use the «High Quality» or «Balanced» quality export option if you want to make proper use of this feature.

In the Windows app, we have improved the high-performance export for Android. It will now take your wallpaper settings into account so that you can first adjust the wallpaper to your liking and then export it with these settings.

The high-performance export allows you to cut the wallpaper size to exactly fit the screen of your device. We have added a new «automatic» option for the export resolution which will use your actual device resolution to fit your display exactly.

The high-performance export will now also show a preview image where you can align the part of the wallpaper that you want to transfer to your Android device more easily:

Keep in mind that for the «High-Quality» and «Balanced» export options, the wallpaper is always transferred in its full resolution.

This update also introduces new support for true display HDR support. For now this option will stay disabled by default but you can manually enable it by changing the post-processing quality option to «Ultra (Display HDR)». Please note this option will only appear when a screen with HDR enabled is connected to your system.

HDR support can significantly improve image quality in in certain lighting conditions on wallpapers. If you have a screen with HDR support, feel free to enable the option and share your feedback with us.

Hello everyone, today we are happy to announce that we will soon be releasing a free Android version of Wallpaper Engine. On top of that, we are also releasing Wallpaper Engine 1.7 today which brings a new set of features including video-based textures and support for web wallpapers with video livestreams.

In the past few months, we have developed an Android app of Wallpaper Engine that offers support for dynamic scene and video wallpapers. The Wallpaper Engine companion app will be available for free to everyone, users of Wallpaper Engine on Windows will be able to share their wallpaper collection wirelessly with their Android phones and tablets. We developed an easy way to securely transfer your Workshop wallpapers to your mobile devices. Since accessing the Workshop is not possible on Android, the Windows version of Wallpaper Engine will serve as a hub to take your wallpapers on the go.

Developing the new Android app was quite an intensive undertaking. However, when it came to porting Wallpaper Engine to any new additional platforms, it was the most rational platform to add next due the huge user base of Android around the globe. The work we have done to support Android will also benefit any future potential ports to other platforms, though Android was still comparatively simple compared to other operating systems. If you are hoping to see Wallpaper Engine on other platforms in the future, please be patient, it is simply not possible for us to port Wallpaper Engine to every single platform at once since it is a tremendous amount of work to do so.

We have prepared a small preview of what Wallpaper Engine looks like on Android. The feature set is very extensive and just like Wallpaper Engine for Windows, the wallpapers are fully dynamic and allow for a great level of user customization. You can also configure a wallpaper playlist, set an FPS limit and configure other battery-saving features and import local videos and GIFs straight into the app.

Wallpapers created in the Wallpaper Engine editor will first be converted into a mobile-compatible format before being sent to your phone. The process is pretty straight-forward for end-users but a more extensive description of this will follow at the time of the release.

Accessing the Steam Workshop from mobile devices is not possible since this is not supported by Steam. However, we developed a convenient way to allow you to transfer compatible wallpapers from your desktop computer to your mobile device with ease, as long as both devices are using the same local network connection.

Since this has never been done before on Steam, we require all content creators to agree to our addendum to the Steam Workshop agreement before their content can be transferred to mobile devices, otherwise Wallpaper Engine will not allow users to transfer their wallpapers.

If you have uploaded any wallpapers to Wallpaper Engine, please review and accept the addendum to the Steam Workshop Agreement for Wallpaper Engine here so that your users can use your wallpapers on Android once the app has been released:

It is also important to us that a large number of content creators review and accept our addendum to the Steam Workshop Agreement before the app is available so that users can choose from a large selection of Android-compatible wallpapers. Aside from Android, we have also been working on another update for Wallpaper Engine on Windows. With Wallpaper Engine 1.7, we are adding video texture support for Scene wallpapers and a new Livestream Mode, among other new features and bug fixes.

You can also use video files as base textures of your wallpaper, to do this, click on «Use a Template» in the editor welcome window, select «2D Scene» and configure the resolution of your video file. Then simply drag and drop your video file into the new project and it will be added as a new image layer in your project.

A relatively specific feature request in the past was to support setting web livestreams as wallpapers. Due to license issues, this is not easily possible and required us to implement a whole new web framework solely to enable livestream video formats for websites. To access the new Livestream Mode, click on «Open Wallpaper» in the lower left corner of Wallpaper Engine, then select «Open from URL».

You can now enable the new «Use Livestream Mode» option for URLs with livestreams in them. The first time you access this feature, Wallpaper Engine will install the new Microsoft’s Edge WebView browser which is automatically maintained by Microsoft and includes support for the required video formats. It’s also somewhat limited in its Wallpaper Engine functions, so we only recommend using it if you specifically want to set a livestream as a wallpaper. Specifically, there is no keyboard input and using the mouse for input requires hiding the icons first with the built-in hotkey.

Wallpaper Engine 1.6 adds a couple of cool features for users and wallpaper creators alike. Wallpaper Engine now allows you to use your wallpapers as screensavers, introduces real-time lighting and reflections on 2D images, comes with a brand new mini mode and allows you to set a wallpaper that plays only once as an intro wallpaper when you start your computer.

Wallpaper Engine 1.6 introduces real-time lighting and reflections to 2D scene wallpapers which can have a major impact on the visual quality of wallpapers and can really bring images to life. The underlying technology relies on physically based rendering (PBR) to make this feature as performance-friendly and easy to use as possible.

The lights are rendered in real-time and can also dynamically move around the wallpaper. See the following example where we have attached a light source to the mouse pointer:

All of this also comes with a brand new normal map generator that we created so that anyone could create normal maps for their images with relative ease. Normal maps are commonly found in video games and allow flat surfaces (such as 2D images that most people use in Wallpaper Engine) to be perceived as if they are 3D.

Another cool feature we added is a new functionality that we call foreground separation. It allows you to cut out a character or object from the foreground of your image and then dynamically fill the space behind it. This makes animating characters much easier as it makes them their own separate layer so that you will not have to worry about character effects and animations having an unintended effect on your background image.

You can also take this one step further and use our new character sheet creation functionality which allows you to cut your character into different pieces that you can then use for a very clean puppet warp animation. Wallpaper Engine 1.6 introduces a new way to use your wallpapers: You can now configure them as a Windows screensaver with proper multi-screen support. You can either choose your screensaver to be exactly the same as your actively running wallpapers or configure a completely new setup just for your screensavers.

You will now find that the Installed tab comes with two sub-menus, one for configuring wallpapers and one for configuring your screensaver. Once you click on the screensaver option, you will be asked to install the Wallpaper Engine screensaver module, which you can then enable as your current screensaver in Windows.

Previously, Wallpaper Engine had an opacity slider at the bottom of the window that you could use to lower the opacity of the window. Initially we thought this would be a good way to help users to configure their wallpapers while making sure the window would not obstruct the view on the wallpaper. However, the slider was often moved by accident and was a common reason for support requests as users were confused as to why the UI was transparent for them.

We have now abandoned the old opacity functionality in favor of a brand new mini mode. You can enable the mini mode by pressing the double-arrow button in the upper right corner of the Wallpaper Engine window, pressing F10 will also toggle between mini mode and normal mode. This allows you to keep the user interface as minimal as possible while configuring your wallpaper.

A common yet relatively minor feature request we received was the ability to configure an intro wallpaper. You can now set up a playlist and then enable the First wallpaper played at startup only option, this will play the first wallpaper of a given playlist only once after the app starts. This is especially cool if you have a specific startup video wallpaper or similar that you would like to see whenever your system boots up.

Hey everyone, today we’re releasing Wallpaper Engine 1.5. With this update we are introducing some important changes to how resolution tags are handled and we’re bringing a brand new effect to the wallpaper editor. Aside from that, we have made various minor improvements to the app and ironed out a few bugs.

We have created a new effect called Iris Movement, which allows wallpaper creators to create realistic eye movements with relative ease. Multiple effects can also be stacked to create synchronized eye and head movements, such as shown in the example below:

A similar effect was already possible to achieve with the use of tweaked versions of the Shake effect, however, this new effect simplifies the process significantly and makes this type of effect much more easy to use for casual users.

This update also contains some significant changes on how we handle resolutions on new projects and a new resolution suggestion feature.

When importing a new image into the editor that does not match any real screen resolution, Wallpaper Engine will now automatically suggest to crop and resize the image for you to the optimal resolution. Overly large images have a negative impact on the performance of wallpapers and they are tagged as Other Resolution which is not particularly helpful when looking for wallpapers.

This feature especially useful and convenient for casual and new users of the app who are more likely to import images with resolutions that do not match any real resolutions For example, if importing an image with a resolution of 6000 x 4000 pixels will cause Wallpaper Engine to suggest to resize it to 3840×2160 which is what is commonly found on many 4K UHD displays. This ensures the wallpaper is tagged properly and can also significantly improve performance.

On an image sized 1920 x 1285, Wallpaper Engine will not suggest to crop it to Full HD.

This update also introduces a new Editor Settings menu where you can disable the automatic resizing of wallpaper images if you are regularly importing larger images on purpose (for example, for parallax effects or similar). The new editor settings also offer a way to turn off autosaving for most actions if you just quickly want to test something in the editor.

Some wallpaper types such as 3D scenes, web and application wallpapers tend to dynamically scale on any resolution. Previously they have been categorized as Other resolution which meant they would be grouped together with improperly sized wallpapers. To differentiate these wallpapers better, we are now introducing a dynamic resolution tag that is enabled by default. In the near future, we will automatically change the tags on all relevant wallpapers from our end. However, in the long run this will be a significant improvement to the resolution tags and make it easier to find high-quality submissions that scale well across all screen resolutions.

Another feature we have added is a new automatic resolution filter suggestion. In the Resolution filter section, you will now find a new button that opens a new Resolution Settings menu. When enabling the Recommended option, Wallpaper Engine will automatically select and store resolutions that make sense for your screen setup.

We hope this feature will make it easier to find wallpapers that match a specific screen setup. We found that many users tend to only set the exact resolution of their screen in the resolution settings while it may make sense to slightly expand this list. For example, a 2560×1440 screen will usually also work really well with 3440×1440 wallpapers, so it makes sense to enable both options in these cases. We built a large list of sensible resolution recommendations so that you can turn them on at the click of a button. Of course all of this is optional, you can ignore this feature entirely and stay in full control over your filter settings just like before if you wish to do so.

Other than that, we have improved various little things around the app, such as the restructured settings menu, a new ultra quality performance preset and the ability to select a source display when using the display clone functionality:

# User Properties

Wallpaper Engine allows you to make parts of your wallpaper configurable by your users by adding so called user properties to your project. These user properties appear on the right-hand side when a user selects your wallpaper in the Wallpaper Engine Installed tab. In this guide, we will explain how to create properties, what each property type represents and how to access them through JavaScript.

The following screenshot shows what it looks like when you add each property type to your wallpaper once:

# Creating User Properties

You can create new properties by opening your web project in the Wallpaper Engine editor, navigating to the Edit menu at the top and selecting Change Project settings. You can then create a new property by clicking on the Add Property button. The following user property types are available for creation:

# Reading property values

You can utilize the wallpaperPropertyListener and its applyUserProperties which is triggered whenever a user changes a property that you have added to your wallpaper or when the wallpaper is first loaded. The event only contains properties that have changed their value, so it’s important to always check if a property is included like in the example below ( yourproperty and anotherproperty should be replaced with the actual key of your properties).

The event will also fire once when the wallpaper is loaded containing all user properties. It is important that you assign one if condition per user property as shown in the example above to ensure that the event works properly when a wallpaper is loaded and when a single property value is changed by the user.

Always make sure to initialize window.wallpaperPropertyListener as a global object outside of any events, otherwise it might miss some important property update events when the wallpaper is loaded.

The key used to access the properties is automatically generated when you create a property. You can use the edit button on the right-hand side of the element to edit it before the property has been created. The key cannot contain any special characters and only allows for English and numeric characters.

Especially if you give your property a foreign title or use special characters, you should set a custom key that makes it easy to understand what the property key represents:

# Property Overview

# Color property

Color properties let users pick a color that you can use on HTML elements as part of CSS rules or canvas drawings, for example. You can configure a default color that is used but other than that, the color picker is simple to configure.

The color property will return three numeric values, separated by a space character ( 1.0 0.1 0.25 for example). In order to utilize these values as part of CSS rules, you need to first convert them to the usual 0 to 255 value range which can be done by first using the split and then map function as shown in the example below.

Be sure to replace properties.customcolor with the actual key of your color property.

# Slider property

The slider property type is a good way to let users tweak a numeric variable in a predefined range. You are required to configure a default value, a minimum value and a maximum value to constrain the default state and the range of the slider. Additionally, you may enable the Fraction option which will allow users to pick fractional numbers. If the Fraction option is enabled, a Precision option will appear which allows you to further specify the number of decimal points that you want to make available to users. By default, precision is set to 2 which means users can choose numbers on a 0.1 step basis.

The value can be directly read from the property in the following manner:

# Combo property

The combo property shows a dropdown selection list to the user that consists of a text label and a hidden value, both of which you need to configure when setting up this property type.

The value for the selected option can be directly read by accessing the value property of the object:

# Text property

The text property type is a user-configurable string. You can set a default string when setting up the property in the editor.

The selected value can be directly read from the property in the following manner:

# File property

The file property type allows you to add an option for users to load an optional image or video which you can then incorporate into your wallpaper using. Your wallpaper should be functional without this image, so it’s best if you create some sort of fallback case (using a default image / video or a solid color for example).

The file property has a file type option which lets you define if you want users to load an image file (.jpeg, .jpg, .png, .pnga, .bmp, .gif, .svg, .webp) or a video file (.webm, .ogg, .ogv).

One thing to keep in mind is that you need to prepend the file location that the value object returns with file:/// so that it becomes readable by the Wallpaper Engine web browser. In the following example, the file location of an image is read and assigned to an image element:

# Directory property

The directory property is useful if you want to allow users to mass import images or video files. This may be useful if you want to build a slideshow or another type of wallpaper that relies on a great number of image or video files.

The directory property has two modes of operation that you can choose between when setting up the property: The ondemand mode and the fetchall mode.

The directory property has a file type option which lets you define if you want to load image files (.jpeg, .jpg, .png, .pnga, .bmp, .gif, .svg, .webp) or video files (.webm, .ogg, .ogv) from a directory.

# «ondemand» directory

A directory property configured to be in ondemand mode will allow users to pick a directory from which you can load images whenever your wallpaper needs a new image. For this purpose, you can use the predefined window.wallpaperRequestRandomFileForProperty function that Wallpaper Engine provides. This function has two parameters, where the first parameter must be the exact key of your directory property (in our example below, that would be customrandomdirectory ) and the second parameter is a function callback which does something with the image file path that is returned to it.

In order to cycle through images, simply call this function on a timer, for example. You can also call it multiple times to get more than one image for use.

Additionally, you should also listen to changes to the property itself just like with other properties. You should react to changes to the directory and handle a case where a user removes the selected directory altogether:

# «fetchall» directory

A directory property configured to be in fetchall mode allows you to get a large number of file paths which you can then handle as you wish, though you should make sure that your wallpaper does not load an infinite number of images or video files just because the user selects a large directory. All file paths must be prepended with file:/// in order for you to access them.

Unlike other properties, directory properties set to fetchall mode require you to use the userDirectoryFilesAddedOrChanged and userDirectoryFilesRemoved events in the wallpaperPropertyListener instead of applyUserProperties. These two event callbacks allow you to track all files that were added (or modified) and removed from the user selection.

Теперь видна настройка кисти.Измените значение на 0 или нажмите «очистить»,это приведет к сбросу всей маски на 0.

Отрегулируйте оставшиеся настройки,чтобы настроить эффект,вот мои:

Нажмите «renderable» вверху справа,чтобы вернуться к изображению.Или щелкните по названию изображения слева в списке.

Добавьте еще один эффект под названием «течение воды»

Начните рисовать по водоему.Переместите курсор в том направлении,в котором вы хотите сделать направление течения.Нажмите «ОК»,чтобы сохранить маску!

Если вы закрасили ту часть которую не хотели анимировать,измените «значение» на 0 и проведите кистью по тому месту,которое хотите вернуть(точно так же наоборот).Это сделает кусочек изображения статическим.
P.S.Обязательно играйте с настройками непрозрачности и жесткости,чтобы рисовать ровно или с жесткими границами.

Я добавил лучи света(солнца)и модель папоротника.Вы также можете легко создать свои собственные растения,просто перетащите их в редактор и добавьте эффект»колеблющейся листвы».Немного измените их свойства,чтобы сделать их более естественными,иначе их анимация будет идеально синхронизирована.

Выберите подходящий цвет схемы для обоев и сделайте превью.Теперь обои можно опубликовать и поделиться с другими,просто нажмите кнопку публикации.

This guide assumes you already visited guides for creating a web wallpaper and you have basic knowledge of Javascript ( methods, callbacks )

In this guide we will shed light on all the properties you can use when creating a (web)wallpaper for Wallpaper Engine. So that users can select values from the settings, that can change the way your wallpaper interacts or works. ( change an image, or change some kind of multiplier value )

The boolean is one of the easiest properties to learn to use. Because as you probably already know, it defines a true/false value. and is visualized as a checkbox for the user.

you can define a boolean property as following:

As you can see, we defined the property with the name «guide_enableColor». And within that object we set 4 properties.

And this is how you can use the boolean in Javascript:

The slider lets the user select a value within a range. A slider can be defined in the JSON as following:

The unique properties for a slider are :

And in the javascript we use the following code to read the value :

The color property lets the user select a color from a colorpicker. Just like the initial ‘schemecolor’ property does.

The specific thing to know about the color property is how to use the value. Although it is in RGB values, it does not range from 0-255, but from 0-1, with fractions. At the time of writing there is no Alpha value available, so transparency is not supported (rgba).

When the user clicks on it, a colorpicker will appear, which lets the user selects an custom color

We can use the value in our javascript like this :

The file picker ( image picker ) is used to let a user select a image from their own local storage. If you have created some sort of interactive overlay, you can use this as a »background-image» selector for example.

We can declare an file picker like this :

Please note that in the second image we have selected the image «test-blue1-sig.jpg». It does not appear as a small preview or anything.

Directory is used to let a user select a directory, from which we can detect file changes, or retrieve files from. I’d like to refer to the following guide that goes indepth into how to use the File and Directory in your project:

Create a dropdown list from which the user can select a predefined value. When you want the user to choose between several options, you can choose to select a ‘combo’ property.

in the javascript you can just get the value just like any other property, so you could do a quick switch() case: to change the behaviour of your code based on the selected value:

A very common input type for webpages, but maybe less common for properties for wallpapers.

You can use the following code to create an Text field for users:

This way you can use this »string» of text in your code to render the name on the background of the wallpaper.

You can also use this input to let users enter URL’s or something, to use in your code ( online images etc. )

You can let properties interact with each other to make the settings more clear to users ( if you have a lot of settings.

Instead of using checkboxes and dropdownlists to toggle functionality in your wallpaper, you can also use them to toggle options. like this:

The condition is an Javascript evaluated condition that determines whether the option is visible or not ( and thus if the user can change it / trigger a change ). In this case there is a select, in which the user can choose between a solid background color, or a background image. If the user wants a background Image, there is no point in showing the background color property, because the Image will be on top of it.

So the background color property and the background image property are never available at the same time.

A couple of notes to yourself :

Rember that the JSON is automatically formatted when WE makes changes to it. It also sorts properties from A-Z. So it’s recommended to pre-fix properties that are related to eachother like :

So when the properties get sorted, they will stay roughly at the same place where you created them.

When user the order property. Don’t order them with numbers like :

Because when you think of new settings, and they need to fit between options 2 and 3. You have to reorder all the properties that come afterwards.

I’ve made that mistake once, and will not make it again!

So every block of options start with settings numbered from:

When I need extra settings, I can easility fit them between 100 and 200. ( it’s just a number anyways. )

This was my first guide I have written for any steam app. Please help me improve it where you see fit. And I’ll do my best to learn and write better guides in the future.

Open the editor by right clicking the tray icon of Wallpaper Engine and choosing Create Wallpaper. Choose New Video Wallpaper in the modal dialog to begin creating a new wallpaper with video support.

Now define a title for your wallpaper and select your video file. The video should use the mp4 container format and be encoded with the h.264 codec for best results. It will be automatically cropped and fitted for any aspect ratio, but using an aspect ratio of 16:9 is generally recommended.

The video wallpaper should now show up in the preview window.

Change the default scheme color by clicking on the color chooser button. This color will be applied to Windows along with your wallpaper if the user chose to enable color adjustments.

With everything set up, open the prepare to publish menu:

Adjust the settings as you need. To apply tags, start typing in the tags window and the auto complete feature should show up to show you possible tags. If you have ideas for additional tags please post them in the forums.

You are also required to create a preview image, click on Take Snapshot to record an image in the editor or import an image you created by hand by clicking Import Image.

To take an image in the editor, use the left mouse button to drag a square to define the image bounds and hit enter when you’re satisfied to save the image.

When everything is done, hit Publish to Steam in the bottom right corner and wait for all data to be uploaded. You can continue editing your workshop item on Steam afterwards to add additional screenshots or videos.
