The Walten Files

The Walten Files is an animated series on YouTube created by Martin Walls. Three episodes have been created so far, with two non canon episodes, hidden episodes, and a trailer. It can be found on Martin Walls channel.

Background

The Walten Files is a horror series of VHS animated tapes, similar to that of Squimpus Mcgrimpus or Local58. It’s also inspired by Five Nights at Freddys.

Jack Walten and Felix Kranken came up with an idea that hadn’t been foreseen before, to create a restaurant aimed at kids with robotic entertainment. This idea had stuck with the two until it came into fruition in the summer of 1974, with the name, «Bon’s Burgers» and would be under the management of Bunny Smiles Incorporated (BSI).

On May 2nd, 1974, one month before the opening of the restaurant, Felix took Jack’s two younger children, Edd and Molly, to a school party. The school had hosted an alcoholic beverages area for the adults in which Felix gladly drank, as he was dealing with problems with his alcoholism and his wife leaving him earlier in that day. He eventually started to drive the Waltens’ kids back home. However, due to how intoxicated Felix was, he began to speed up and crashed his car, killing both Edd and Molly. Out of irrational fear and guilt, he buried the two children in Saint Juana’s Forest.

Shortly afterwards, Jack Walten was declared missing on June 11th, 1974.

The restaurant would open on June 28th, 1974, 17 days after Jack’s disappearance. Two days afterward, the restaurant would host its first birthday party. That night, Susan Woodings would make an audio recording logging the day and the irregularities she noticed in Bon, the leader of The Showstoppers (an animatronic band used and operated by Cyberfun Tech to entertain customers). She goes on to state that she’d hopefully fix Bon and close for the night. Sometime afterwards, Bon would mutilate Woodings and stuff her into Banny.

Charles, an unknown BSI employee, was murdered on July 14th, 1974 and stuffed into Boozoo.

Rosemary Walten would often visit the establishment in hopes to find her missing husband, though her attempts seemed to be futile. On July 19th, 1974 however, when she visited the restaurant yet again to gain some information about her loved one, a voice emanated from behind the main stage of The Showstoppers. When Rosemary went to the backstage, Bon was awaiting her, and proceeded to then dismember Rosemary and stuff her into Sha. It is assumed that Sophie Walten, the Walten’s eldest daughter, most likely witnessed the event.

Sometime later that day, police reports were given from the Bon’s Burgers location of an adult woman screaming from the backrooms of the restaurant. This prompted the employees to remove the animatronics from the mainstage. The last day they were open, July 20th, 1974, only two families were given access to visit the restaurant and the location later closed for good.

Another photo that was taken on January 23rd, 1975 showed that the animatronics from the restaurant had been moved into the facility.

After this, the only known source of revenue for the BSI franchise was received through multiple business offers such as merchandise, a TV show, and a movie.

By 1978, Kranken wanted the animatronics in a new location, so he created a plan titled: «The Relocate Project», in which the main goal was to fix the animatronics and reopen the business, hoping it would actually be successful.

She then found an unused animatronic named Billy, which had a cassette tape used for birthday parties. However the tape corrupted itself and Ashley was then murdered by Bon and stuffed into the Billy animatronic. Kevin and Hilary assumed Ashley had left early and went on with leaving the facility.

The caretakers of the storage facility noticed awful smells emanating from the backrooms, which prompted the caretakers to close the facility in 1978 or 1979.

In October 1982, Brian Stells is hired by BSI to act as the new facility caretaker, a role that no one had for years, and on October 10th, 1982, Brian was ordered to record what he did that night on reprogramming the animatronics. He finds Bon and attempts to use his reprogramming device to check if it was still working. Things seemed to be going well, until Bon started acting a bit strange, eventually chasing Brian out of the facility, and killing him.

5 days later, Sophie Walten, the eldest child of the Walten family, and her girlfriend, Jenny Letterson, find an arcade style game made by BSI titled BunnyFarm. The game centered around doing miscellaneous tasks in order to receive fruits from the farm owner in order to save a festival. The game glitches out and shows disturbing and unusual imagery, which causes Sophie to quit the game.

The next day, Sophie plays the game again, where the mysterious and creepy glitches continue plaguing the game. But now, they begin to piece a story for Sophie, who has severe memory loss from pills that had been given to her. A story about how a few individuals lost their lives at Bon’s Burgers 8 years prior, and the story of what happened to Edd and Molly when they were under Felix’s care that night.

Appearances

Jack Walten was one of the co-founders of the Bon’s Burgers Establishment. He and Felix Kranken were good friends, and he was married to Rosemary Walten, and is the father of Sophie, Edd, and Molly Walten. Unfortunately, he went missing a week before the restaurant opened, and is the first person to disappear chronologically in the timeline. According to findjackwalten.com, he was born on September 23rd, 1932, and graduated from Cleary University in 1959, marrying Rosemary the same year.

Contents

Appearance

Jack appears to be a standard latino human male, with curly black hair that goes to his chin, a faint moustache. He only appears in black and white, but he’s wearing what looks to be a black shirt with a white undershirt, a black tie, black dress pants, and grey dress shoes.

As described by Martin Walls, he took a role similar to the FNaF franchise’s notorious William Afton.

Company Introductory Tape

He is seen shaking the hand of Felix Kranken on the founders photo in the first part of the the tape, as a recorded message from him and Felix plays out. He is also shown in a missing poster with his eyes and mouth twitching on the TV during the Little Bon’s Neighborhood segment.

Relocate Project

The beginning tape is shown to attempt to remove any mention of Jack throughout its duration. However it is unsuccessful, as he still appears throughout as an abnormality. Firstly, His name is seen crossed out on a file as Little Bon looks through a file cabinet,. Next when, an 8-bit scene depicting the relocation of the animatronics to K-9 is shown, a sprite of his distorted face is seen driving the moving truck. Then when the merchandise is shown, his face swiftly moves across the TV screen that Bon and Sha are on. Along with that, a tape with the name, «The disappearance of Jack Walten» is seen on the foreground. Next, he is seen very faintly in the background of the scene depicting the new Bon’s Burgers establishment. Finally, after the narrator describes Felix, a black and white drawing of Jack is shown in a completely black scene, before the screen goes completely black, with a very faint picture of Jack’s distorted face is seen.

In the next tape, he is lastly shown very briefly inside of Little Bon’s backpack when the essential items are discussed.

BunnyFarm & Guilty

Firstly, in the opening cutscene for the game, his portrait is seen hanging on the left wall of the establishment.

Then during the opening cutscene for Banny’s minigame, his missing poster is shown very briefly right before the cutscene ends. After Sophie completes the minigame, an audio log from Susan Woodings plays. After mentioning a birthday party, Susan remarks that she finds it weird that the place was opened despite Jack’s disappearance, and that she hopes he’s alright, along with mentioning that Rosemary was asking the people working there if they had seen Jack. As this dialogue was spoken, a picture of Jack’s face was shown on-screen.

Jack is then mentioned in Linda’s diary, describing when Jack and Rose had their third child Molly, and that he and Felix had pitched their idea for a restaurant to CyberFun Tech. She also mentions that Felix was with Jack at a warehouse, and that he was also doing a favor for him too.

Then, after Sophie interacts with The Showbear, a scene plays out that shows a red rotary phone, with text and dialogue showing a conversation between Jack and Felix. Jack asks Felix to take Edd and Molly to a school party, since both him and Rose will be busy. Jack reluctantly agrees, and Jack thanks him. After the segment with the school party and the car accident play out, it then transitions back to the scene with the same rotary phone as before. The phone states that there are several missed calls, before a message from Jack is played. Jack angrily tells Felix to pick up the phone. He then tells him that its been 3 hours since he told him to get the children home, and that he needs to know where they are. As this scene plays out, a heavily distorted image of Jack’s grinning face fades in.

In Guilty, Felix mentions Jack several times, fearfully asking himself what he’s gonna tell Jack, and that he’s been the best friend he’s ever had.

Debut

Sha is a sheep-like animatronic, being possessed later on by Jack Walten’s wife, Rosemary Walten.

Contents

Appearance

In her intact animatronic form, Sha is white with a cream belly, face and ears, as well as silver arm and leg covers. She seems to have brown eyes which occasionally look red. She also has a collar with a golden tag, which has her name engraved on it. Her design is reminiscent of a sheep, sporting fluffy white hair, and long drooped ears. Curiously, she also has pointed teeth, and the snout of a predator.

In her damaged animatronic form, Sha looks very dirty, resulting in a dull, grey appearance. She has multiple holes throughout her body and face, including a large gash through her chest. The silver covers on her arms and legs are gone, letting her animatronic endoskeleton show.

Her cartoon form in «Company Introductory Tape» and «Relocate Project» is almost completely identical to her animatronic appearance, but is more simple and cute.

In «BunnyFarm,» Sha is fluffier and has black fingers and hooves. Her outfit consists of a red and white striped dress and a blue and gold collar, with a red flower in her hair.

Description

Sha is one of the main animatronics in «The Walten Files.» She appears in every video to date (including the non-canon ones, though shown in an alternate form). She is a member of the Showstoppers and seems to be one of the most important characters, second only to Bon.

She was originally supposed to serve as an entertainment animatronic for the new restaurant franchise Bon’s Burgers, and was operational from Bon’s Burgers’ official opening on June 28th to July 20th, after which a woman’s screams were heard from inside and the building was condemned.

After the disappearance of Jack Walten, his wife, Rosemary Walten, often visited the restaurant to look for him. On July 19th, Bon, lured Rosemary to the back of the restaurant. He then dismembered her and stuffed her remains inside Sha. This, along with all the other suspicious disappearances caused by Bon, led to the restaurant’s closing and all the animatronics, including Sha, being partially dismantled and put into storage.

In the «Company Introductory Tape», Sha is present in small cameos like in Little Bon’s Neighborhood and the stage performance shown at the beginning of the video.

In the «Relocate Project» video, Sha is present in the technical support section, as a little cartoon version of her is used to introduce new employees on how to manage the project. During this section, she glitches out multiple times and the video subsequently cuts to a sort of «flashback» in which the events of Rosemary Walten’s death is shown.

In «BunnyFarm,» Sha is present as a character sprite: her minigame consists of a hide and seek game, in which the player, (Sophie), has to play hide-and-seek with her.

Personality

While Sha’s personality isn’t explored in-depth in the series, it can be deduced by her behavior in the BunnyFarm cutscenes that she is a sweet and motherly character. She is the most mature and grounded member of the Showstoppers, fitting of her appearance of a sheep, which are usually gentle and mild-mannered creatures. Sha’s personality was revealed on Martin Walls’ twitter, showing that she is kind, and treats most of those around her nicely.

In «The Mysterious House,» Sha appears as the Witch Sheep. The Witch Sheep heavily resembles Sha but has grey fur, wears a spiked dog collar, a purple hat, and has a massive hole in her chest similar to the damaged version of Sha.

She appears to be very kind, as she gives Tammy and Duckie candy and lets them stay at her house for the night. However, she is very manipulative and lures kids to stay in the house so the Pumpkin Rabbit can murder them. When Tammy is looking around for Duckie, the Witch Sheep can be seen stalking her, as she closes the door to stop Tammy from being able to escape the room.

In «Boozoo’s Ghosts,» Sha appears as the second ghost Boozoo is visited by, The Jolly Ghost of Present Times. Her outdated appearance is very similar to Sha from the canon tapes except she now has yellow fur and red arms and legs with sharp claws. She wears a blue bow tie with green dots, a blue jester hat, and Christmas lights strung all over her body. She was recently redesigned by Martin Walls.

She seems rather happy, and she has toys which she uses to show Boozoo the suffering of Banny and her family. The Jolly Ghost can also be very rude, as she tells him she represents the living representation of his own grief, except nowhere near as ugly. When Boozoo refuses to cooperate, she becomes very cruel, similar to how the Sad Ghost reacted when he wouldn’t stop lying. She kills two dolls which represent Banny’s kids, telling Boozoo he’s to blame thanks to his selfishness and greed. He begs the Jolly Ghost to stop, however, she continues to tell him it’s his fault for the children’s demise. After she torments Boozoo, he gets transported to the dark hallway to see Mortality.
