Aaaah, I don’t want to workkkk

Silence fell in the Parliament Room at that second.

A few minutes later, everyone made a complete change and applaused both parent and child emotionally, even those who suspected Alicia was a spy from another country before the arrival of the King and Queen.

Feeling the pressure from the authorative figures, the maids were awkwardly serving tea, as they tried to wipe the corner of their eyes at the joyful reunion of parent and child.

Of course, there were people whose eyes wavered as they remembered their action, but they loudly cheered, “Thank goodness! ” or “What a moving story! “, saying such barefaced lie was the standard.

In front of the emotionally moving scenery, Mary was stunned for a while.

Of course, it was because her train of thought couldn’t catch up. As she started to doubt Alicia in some part and couldn’t even help, she couldn’t immerse in this celebration mood because she was beginning to doubt even the memories of her previous life.

And the word that came out after those thought was,

“….Addie, my stomach hurts.”

“My Lady, at last you hit your limit, huh…you poor thing… Tonight, let’s have croquette for dinner.”

“This is nonsensical, I want to go home…My stomach hurts…”

“In a bit, everything will be over in a bit. Let’s buy something delicious on our way home.”

Pitiful…Mary just nodded weakly in a daze at Addie. The one she held with one hand was closer to her belly than her stomach.

It was an unusual interaction for the two of them, but no one realized it in this situation.

Anyway, even without Mary, this celebratory mood wouldn’t go away. Even Patrick was saying, “Good for you, Alicia,” and was being emotionally moved.

In this situation, Mary who hold unnecessary information as this was a game! This was a still image! And knew that Alicia was a princess from the start, after thinking about this and that, she couldn’t honestly bend over to this mood. Or perhaps, everyone was still speculating, and they were just reading the atmosphere for the time being.

No, even then, this standing applause is weird… And, thinking about it, maybe this was the game suppression power as well.

Yes, it definitely is. If not, she couldn’t consent to this happy mood that seems like a grand finale.

To get pale at the heavy atmosphere a few minutes ago, wasn’t it stupid? She wanted this suppression power.

The more she thought about it, the more her mood dropped.

Just before, she wanted to go home because she was nervous, but now she wanted to go home for different reason.

Honestly, this is such a farce.

Gazing at the scene with that feeling, noise started to begin from the other side of the door. Somehow in the reunion of parent and child earlier, curious onlookers seemed to noticed the change in the atmosphere. Or maybe they were gathering because they heard the applause?

Both King and Queen sensed it, smiled and nodding happily while embracing Alicia’s shoulder.

“Let us introduce you to everyone,” must be what they wanted to say.

Alicia could only smiled back with happiness mixed with confusion as reply. From the side, it was a beautiful reunion between parent and child…that was if the other side aren’t involved in the story.

“We’re running away,” said Mary to Addie, as the royal pair turned to face the door.

Surely everyone was waiting for the conclusion beyond that door. It was already confusing with this line-up, if they announced Alicia as the legitimate Princess, it surely would become more chaotic.

From the point of view of Mary who began to get fed up with this atmosphere, that confusion was indeed the time to escape.

Addie could only nod in sympathy at Mary who proclaimed such pathetic thing proudly.

It was a situation that made the noble daughter of Albert House pale and nervous, it was impossible that Addie who was a commoner and an attendant could bear it.

Even now, because Mary was there, and because her heart was breaking, he could keep his calm.

“The moment they open the door and introduce Alicia, there will be confusion. We’re going to run at that time.”

In the middle of battle mood, they whispered the plan and nodded to each other.

And when both royal opened the door, the crowd became noisier.

It was natural, while they were waiting for the meeting to end impatiently, both King and Queen appeared while embracing the girl in question. Everyone could guess the meaning, that’s why the chaos continued.

Those who were still confused even after seeing the situation and those who ran off somewhere to tell others. There were also some who were dissatisfied with the result that went against their judgement and left the place while grumbling. Of course, there were also people who genuinely rejoiced over the reunion.

Seeing that chance, Mary and Addie silently stood.

There was no better time to run but now.

And so, they erased their presence and moved stealthily, just a bit more until they could escape from the chaos…. However,

“Mary, Addie! We are going to have dinner with their Majesty, why don’t you two come as well! “

Their shoulder was caught by Patrick who gave them fresh smile.

His current smile was blinding enough, that if there was another noble daughter present at this moment, her heart would definitely be taken.

But the hand that gripped their shoulder showcased power that was contrary to that smile, Mary’s cheek twitched as she realized they couldn’t get away.

Addie didn’t even have anymore expression on his face.

“Patrick, you invite us despite knowing we’re trying to run away, don’t you…”

“Well, isn’t it fine. Alicia will be happy if both of you are coming.”

“The farce finally ended and now dinner with their Majesty? Don’t joke with me! “

“I…I am going home! Once I get back, I’ll eat dinner and sleep! I can’t take it anymore! “

“Look! I might have some composure left, but now you broke Addie! “

“What are you two plotting?”

Patrick sighed resignedly, but the strength of his grip didn’t waver at all.

As a female, Mary didn’t have the strength to shook Patrick off and escape, and while Addie might be stronger physically than Patrick, the difference in status did him no good.

In other words, they could do nothing. In the beginning, their escape route was close to non-existent, but now it was completely been cut off by Patrick.

Furthermore, to add another blow, Alicia happily called their name while being surrounded by the King and the Queen. To finish it off, she even held their hand.

Mary could only accept her loss, and dropped her shoulder while sighing heavily.

She didn’t have any more willpower to even glare at Patrick.

“As the daughter of Albert House, there really is a time when you unexpectedly have dinner with the King, huh… I remember saying ‘this is delicious’ but I don’t remember what I was eating.”

“You still have it better, My Lady. I probably won’t have any other dinner party. And with both King and Queen at the same table…Ah, remembering it make me nervous again…”

While muttering those comments while being shaken inside the Dice House carriage, they were going back to Albert House.

The carriage they had taken when they went to the castle had already went back with Carrel. To forcibly brought her daughter out and then returned quickly by herself, was that how a parent should act, but looking at Addie’s condition maybe it was good they were left behind.

After being mentally exhausted inside the Parliament Room plus the nervousness when dining with royalty, and now having motion-sickness inside a carriage. Additionally, to sit beside the madam of the house while her daughter sat on the lower seat was mentally taxing as well, he might faint any moment now.

In this case, the only passenger in Dice’s carriage beside them was Patrick so Addie could relax a bit. Even now, he was leaning tiredly against the window, while biting his lips once in a while.

Looking at Mary who was sitting next to Addie, sometimes patting his back and replying lightheartedly, Patrick called her name.

“Mary, you are a good woman.”

Mary could only widen her eyes, and sent a questioning glance at Patrick.

As usual, with his good luck, he smiled refreshingly while his hair was being tousled by wind that blew in from the window.

“What’s with the sudden compliment, I wonder if you regret refusing me.”

“Aa, from today I’m thinking to seduce you to become my concubine.”

“I see, you finally got tired with the bumpkin girl, huh.”

“How could that be, I just want to taste something different is all.”

“Ara, how amusing. From a bumpkin girl to me, even though you are Dice House’s oldest son, you have a bad taste.”

Towards the two who snickered while talking, Addie could only think “You’re not being honest” inside his heart while leaning tiredly against the window.

He didn’t said anything, because he might be kicked out from the carriage in that situation, and most of all, he didn’t think these two would be honest after all.

Albert Ke no Reijou wa Botsuraku wo go Shomou desu 60

Volume 2 Chapter 20

The following morning, Mary was on cloud nine.

That’s because her love, which albeit was a little late, finally sprouted- nope to be exact it has already sprouted before and was left aside for quite a long time- now it has finally bore fruit; he even kissed her forehead before they went to sleep last night. Addie’s happy smile and gentle touch on her forehead along with the words “good night”… caused flowers to bloom in her mind then and when she woke up, they’ve become a flower field. The fecundity was akin to that of mint.

Adding on to that, everyone thought that Mary would sleep in this morning, judging from her behaviour yesterday; they totally did not expect her to wake up early and wash up quickly.

There were one or two maids around; she might be able to reduce the number of flowers in her head while drinking some warm black tea so…

Mary, while on cloud nine, decided to leave the room instead.

“I have to announce this to everyone!”

She even had a sense of duty which was uncalled for…

Just like that, the first place she visited was her father’s room.

He’s the head of the Albert family who holds equal power as the royal family and is said to be the support pillar of the royal family.

It’s the room of that person; normal beings or even big-wigs from the noble families would take a deep breath to calm their hearts down before entering. Some would even arrange for another timing to meet if they were to turn up too early.

Well, his daughter, Mary, was not afraid at all and did not bother about the timing as she knocked lightly on the doors; upon receiving a reply, she slowly opened the door and peeked inside.

Looking inside, her father and two elder brothers were having a discussion with stern expressions around the table. ‘It must be tough to start working from early morning…’ she thought as she entered the room and sat down on the chair near them.

They exchanged greetings and ‘Good mornings’ like usual, but on their expressions, it’s clear that they’re thinking ‘what’s the matter?’

Having sensed that, Mary cleared her throat.

“Um, father and brothers…”

Mary started talking again; they stopped moving their hands and looked at her.

It made Mary blush and she continued ‘I…’

“I… married Addie.”

Mary covered her cheeks as she said that and the Albert family’s head and both of her elder brothers looked at each other.

What’s with that…?

The Albert family took part in the busy preparations and more importantly, the marriage of nobles required the signature of the head of the household. To put it simply, Mary’s father signed more documents than she did, so why did she make that announcement to them at a time like this… the three of them were perplexed.

“Oh yeah… that’s true, you guys know that right?”

“What’s wrong, Mary.”

“That’s right… um, that… I knew about this yesterday but Addie likes me and loves me so that’s why he wanted to marry me.”

Mary’s face started reddening even more and the three of them looked at each other again.

What is this all about and why is this daughter- this younger sister- saying this? The three of them once again replied in unison.

After that, this time round, they decided to add on with congratulatory words like “that’s great”. They realized that if they were to stop talking, Mary would probably continue her incoherent ranting.

In response to that, Mary nodded happily with an extremely pure expression. She decided that she has to report that to her mother too and left the room after greeting without changing her expression of glee. The guys left behind had no clue as to what has just happened.

It’s clear to everyone else that Addie has always had fond feelings for Mary.

Like Mary, he too acted as the “perfect servant”, but he always treated Mary sincerely when they were together. They were always together and he understands her more than anyone else.

It’s clear to anyone else that the relationship has far surpassed that the boundaries of being a “servant”; they were perplexed at how Mary could only discovered that last night.

After thinking about that, the head of Albert family muttered “hmm”. In contrast, his two sons, who looked like him when he’s younger, were grinning broadly.

Also, after that, it goes without saying, they called the relevant people for tea to ask about what has happened last night.

Mary has no idea that her father and elder brothers were scheming behind her back as she walked to her mother’s room with light footsteps and flowers blooming in her head; she knocked on the door like she did earlier.

After waiting for a reply and entering into the room, she saw that her mother was sewing elegantly and there were a few maids who were arranging flowers around the room nearby. Her mother’s silver hair was waving lightly today too as she smiled beautifully and greeted ‘Good morning Mary.’

Sitting down opposite to her mother, Mary’s face reddened.

After that, she took a sip of the black tea which was prepared for her and opened her mouth “um…”

“Mother, I… married Addie.”

“Yes, I know that.”

“That’s right, you know that right? Um, everyone”

Mary said that with resolution but they just replied her lightly; she widened her eyes a bit. In the first place, Carrel’s the female head of the family and she signed various documents with her husband, the maids also took part in the preparations under the lead of Patrick.

They were talking about the costumes, songs, food and alcohol for the party.

Understanding that, Mary nodded and said “That’s right.” Once again, her face turned red.

“Also… I loved Addie.”

Mary confessed shyly; her mother and the maids of course wondered what this daughter- this lady- was talking about and they looked at each other and replied in unison.

After that, Mary was elated and exclaimed that she has to let others know about this too before leaving, everyone just sighed.

“Tsk, I don’t understand her even though she’s my daughter; why’s she talking about that at this timing?”

After such peaceful exchanges, they giggled.

Everyone who has had close interaction with Mary would have known her fond feelings for Addie. Mary would sometimes behave like the perfect lady and sometimes behave unlike one; she managed to skilfully switch between the two, but whenever she’s with Addie, she’d “just be Mary.” Also, her happy expressions during those times just tell it all. There’re no fake expressions, it’s just pure emotions.

If that’s not fondness, what’s it? It seems like she has finally realized that last night.

While thinking of that, Carrel placed the sewing needle on the desk.

‘Hey’ she called out to the maids and her expression was filled with joy.

“Hey, why don’t you ladies rest too? Let’s have tea together.”

“That’s right… therefore we would need –someone- to prepare tea for us.”

Carrel grinned so beautifully it’s like she’s the holy mother; the maids have figured out her intention and nodded “yes” with lovely smiles.

Without knowing that such an interaction has had happened, while scattering flowers all around in her mind, Mary walked in the compounds of her mansion and went around reporting –that late news- to everyone who took care of her; she stopped walking when she saw the familiar back of someone.

That straight back, slim body with long limbs, blue hair waving in the wind… it’s definitely Patrick and she dashed towards him.

“You’re here this early in the morning… oh, it’s not that early anymore huh. Anyway, what’s wrong? Did you leave some documents behind again?”

”No, I have something to talk to your father about my family matters… Somehow, I’ve been here every day lately huh.”

He has been in the mansion more than Mary has had been. Patrick jokingly shrugged his shoulders and Mary too smiled.

Although there was the matter of Mary and Addie, Patrick has been visiting the Albert family quite frequently even before that.

When the Dice Family head succession and problems pertaining to that happened, he came over to seek the advice of the Albert family head. In actual fact, when the problems occurred after the head of the Dice family announced the family succession, it was only the Albert family who held enough power and ability to settle the issue among the noble families. Right now, it’s not only Patrick, but his younger brother who was set to take over the head’s position, and both his parents would come over to seek help from the Albert family and help them out when needed; that’s how their relationships deepened.

“I didn’t expect to be under your family’s care this much.”

“That’s right, it’s unthinkable in the past right?”

Before, the families appeared to be close but there was a clear divide in their power, they also interacted while being conscious of the eyes of other families. Mary and Patrick were treated as though they were going to tie the knots. They cannot imagine requesting each other for help like “marriage proposal.”

-Even if they were to marry each other, they would not have imagined their relationship to be so close like they were now. After all, it’s just going to be a political marriage and they’d only be talking about connections; they’d definitely not be in a relationship where they’d help each other-

For example, Patrick would probably exclaim “As expected of the head of the Albert family…” while shining his blue eyes- and upon seeing that, Mary would be annoyed and say “Ew, father’s number of (disgusting) believers has just increased”- The head of the Albert family would probably then seriously tell Patrick and his younger brothers that “As expected the eldest son is capable, but the second and third sons are also equally skilled. How I wish I have two or three daughters.” They didn’t imagine that they’d forge an amicable relationship where there’s no fakery involved.

That’s why they found it sarcastic when they received compliments of how they matched so well, both of them would express wry laughter; recalling that, Mary called Patrick’s name and looked up towards him.

His blue hair and same-coloured eyes were deep and his well-structured face definitely meets the ideals of the ladies. Even so, Mary was unfazed and her heartbeat rate remains unchanged, she does not feel any tightening in her heart when he looked back at her either. She thought that it was strange in the past, but now that she knows that there’s someone else in her heart, she understood why.

“I know. I did the preparations after all.”

“Yes, that’s right. I’m thankful… and”

Mary’s face suddenly turned red again and she pressed her cheeks with a lovely expression like that of a maiden in love.

At this sight, Patrick could not help but widened his eyes; he did not imagine that Mary to make this kind of expression and gesture…

“Y-Yes… and, what’s wrong?”

“Addie and I… always had fond feelings for each other since the past.”

Mary said that happily and Patrick spaced out for a moment before saying-

He replied with a dumbfounded look.

“Yes… everyone has better instinct than I thought.”

“Or rather, you are the one who’s duller than I thought.”

“I see, that’s possible-”

Having such obvious talks, Patrick took a small sigh and once again called Mary’s name.

Patrick congratulated her not in a way the Dice family’s son would do for the marriage of the Albert family’s daughter, but as Patrick himself towards Mary herself; Mary too nodded earnestly in response.

“Thanks, Patrick. If Addie was not around, I’d definitely marry you without a doubt.”

“Yeah, I guess so; if Alicia and Addie were not around, we’d probably be a married couple already.”

Both of them exchanged the highest compliments to each other when they suddenly heard quick footsteps from the back…

“Lady Mary! Good Morning!”

With force, Alicia tackled… nope she hugged Mary

At that moment, Mary gave off a muffled sound.

“L-Lady Alicia, morning… yesterday… you took care of… stop it get away from me! Why are you pulling me closer?”

Alicia laughed joyfully as Mary forcefully placed a distance between them; she then raised the hems of her skirt and did a polite greeting. As though she did not just tackle her earlier, her gesture and morning greetings exude the elegance of a princess.

Right when one would think like that, Alicia once again showed her usual sunshine-like smile and pulled Mary’s arm as she called out “Lady Mary!” It seems like there’s a time-limit to her acting like a princess.

“Lady Mary, you returned home yesterday, but please stay over next time. Let’s have a stay-over party!”

“No, I cannot sleep without my personal pillow.”

“Yes, it seems like the usual pillow’s height does not fit me.”

Mary said that apologetically and Alicia let go of her grasp on her arm disappointedly. Right then, Mary muttered “Well, I guess I can sleep without a pillow” but unfortunately Alicia did not seem to hear that.

However, it seems that Patrick, who was nearby, heard that and he sighed at how Mary stuck out her tongue playfully.

Right then, the three of them faced the same direction again as they could hear the footsteps of another person running over.

Along with that, they could hear the words “My lady!” which was like the way a husband calls his wife and not the way a servant would use. Of course, that’s Addie.

It seems like he’s quite in a hurry. He dashed over to Mary without having the leisure to greet Patrick and Alicia.

“My lady! What were you spreading around?”

“What… what do you mean?”

“This morning, Sir and Madam called me out and tried to pry something out of me with lukewarm looks; wherever I go to, everyone would be grinning and congratulate me! Did you say something?”

“Hm? I didn’t say anything weird though?”

Addie must have been quite embarrassed as he asked her with a red face, in contrast Mary widened her eyes and she tilted her head as she really had no clue.

In actual fact, Mary has only went around reporting news of her marriage and that their relationships were deeper than she has had thought- to those people around her who have known about it, they thought “something must have happened last night”… and she wasn’t aware of that.

Having figured out what has had happened, Patrick sighed and talked about the Mary’s earlier marriage declaration.

“L-Lady… please don’t tell me you have been going around from early morning to say that ‘we are married!’…?”

“Everyone knew about that!”

“A-And that we’ve fond feelings for each other…”

“Everyone knew about that!”

Mary exclaimed that it was such a surprise with looks of excitement, but Addie’s already red face just reddened more and he could not help it but cover his face with both hands.

He has had one-sided feeling that’s evident to everyone who’s in the family that his generations of families have served for, and right when it has finally come to bore fruits, his wife boasted their relationship to everyone around. Of course, that’d be embarrassing, but since it has become quite a topic within the mansion, it’s clear that they’re teasing him with it.

Patrick figured out Addie’s feelings and patted on his shoulders to comfort him.

In contrast, Mary was still confused as she tilted her head and looked at the two; suddenly, as though she has thought of something, she raised her voice and said “oh right!”

“I will return to Eliciana early today.”

“You dropped such a bomb and you’re going to leave me alone and head for Eliciana?”

“What’s with that? Lady Parfait asked me to bring a cake back.”

Addie raised his voice to say that it’s not right to do that, but Mary replied as though he’s rude and explained the situation.

Hearing the word ‘cake’ and the store name from Mary made Alicia’s eyes twinkle for a moment. No matter what year it was, regardless of a lady’s mental strength, they were all weak against sweet things.

Normally Alicia would stop Mary and have her stay till the very last minute before her departure, however today, she said ‘go and line up for it!’ and rushed her; it’s a store of her country that she’s proud of and wants to show it to the other neighbouring countries, and that’s how much she loves cakes

While her back was being pushed by Alicia, Mary lightly greeted “Well then, see you the next break” and left. Of course, Addie chased after her; Patrick and Alicia were left behind.

It might be a little strange for the Dice Family’s eldest son and the princess to be in the Albert’s Family house all alone, but it’s a common sight these days.

“Even though both of them are married, nothing has changed.”

Patrick said with a sigh and Alicia who stood beside him giggled with a nod.

As usual, Mary and Addie were not like master and servant, nor husband and wife, they were just being themselves.

While looking at their backs, Patrick thought about settling the matter he’s here today for, when someone grabbed his arm. Looking at who it was, Alicia was there looking at him with a slight pout and adoring look.

“Lady Mary seems happy right…”

“She’s a little too excited though”

Patrick was looking at the backs of Mary and Addie while sighing but his heart skipped at a beat when Alicia said that, he then looked at her.

Alicia’s purple eyes were a little forceful and sweet and it charmed Patrick.

“How nice, Lady Mary”

With an adoring voice and suggestive words, it’s clear that she has had hopes for her beloved partner; there’s no way Patrick Dice would not have noticed that.

That’s why, while Patrick’s cheeks were reddening, he cleared his throat and called Alicia’s name.

“Alicia… shall we go for dinner with just the two of us tonight?”

“Yes, um… there’s something important I’d like to say.”

Patrick said that shyly; Alicia flashed the brightest smile for today and said “of course!” with a nod.

A few days before, this happened at the Eliciana academy.

“Lady Mary, um… p-please… um, it’s fine if you don’t like it…! I-it’s troublesome… right, troublesome right? You don’t like it right?… s-sorry…!”

“Wait! I didn’t say anything!”

“But, it’s a trouble to Lady Mary…”

“What!? What’s it that you want!?”

“Um, I’ll pay it properly so… please… but”

“Pay… do you want me to buy something!?”

“But, Lady Mary might think that I’m a glutton, I’m embarrassed…”

“You want me to buy some food, right?!”

“B-But, I’ll buy it myself… but it might be sold out before I arrive…”

“It’s popular, right!? You want me to buy some popular food right!?”

“U-Um, I’ll exercise properly after eating it, also I’ll try to reduce the sugar in the black tea…!”

“It’s fattening, right!? You want me to buy some popular food that’s fattening, right!? I’m getting there… I’m getting to the answer!”

Albert Ke no Reijou wa Botsuraku wo go Shomou desu 65

Volume 2 Chapter 25

After that incident, peace would return in Eliciana academy… not, of course it wouldn’t.

After all, it has switched things around totally. Of course, it has changed the hierarchy ranking within the academy, and the guys who had fawned over Lilianne have fallen to the deepest bottom.

They used to receive a lot of favours from their families but that have changed all of a sudden, even those female students who used to fawn over them have started to look at them with cold eyes. Their statuses, which were built upon pillars of sand, have collapsed.

Under such circumstances, most people would have stopped attending school, but they probably couldn’t withstand the heat from their family compared to school. Or rather, there were some people who don’t have a place at home, and some were even forbidden to return home.

Therefore, with that, they were forced to attend school even after what had happened. And-

“U-Um, Lady Margaret… about the previous incident…”

“Please give me a chance and hear me out…!”

They were desperately trying to chase after the ladies whom they have once abandoned.

Of course, it goes without saying, those ladies were the ones who pushed them down the cliff, and they were the one who informed their families about the situation which caused the family strife. Well, they once thought that “even though Lilianne has many boys around her, as long as she loves me it is fine” but found out that she’s not a single bit interested in them; that made them try to do their best to rebuild the relationship that they’ve cut off by themselves.

By the way, Lilianne’s being confined at home and waiting for her punishment to be met out. After that incident, the teachers and guardians of the people involved questioned her; she then confessed her love for Patrick despite being in the centre of the reverse harem.

-By the way, after hearing that, Mary did not feel any sympathy for the guys or pity for Lilianne, rather she wished she was there to witness Karina’s badass acting as the villainess. Still, she did not regret leaving early purely because the croquette from the store recommended by Addie was delicious-

“Most families expressed that they’d only forgive them after they’ve succeeded in reconciling and fixed the marriage arrangement. That’s why they were so desperate. For me, I’d definitely not forgive him no matter how much he has apologized, threatened or cried.”

Karina said that coldly while sipping on black tea. Sitting next to her was Parfait who puffed her cheeks in agreement.

While looking at them, Mary sighed softly; the people around them were taking small glances over at them.

Of course, they’d grab the attention; Karina was the one who planned for the great reversal, Parfait was the one who had the greatest change in position after rumours have it going that she might become the next daughter-in-law of the Albert family, and Mary was the one who put a final stop to Lilianne’s doings (though she herself is not proud of it and finds it an embarrassing past).

After that… Mary peeked to the side. Right next to their table was an “object” which doesn’t fit a tea party carried out by the beautiful ladies…

A man with good physical statures had his head hanging down…

“…Hey how are you able to have tea in such a condition?! He has been there like that for around 2 hours!”

“Oh, Lady Mary, I have no idea what are you talking about? Right, Miss Parfait?”

“Yes, I have no idea at all.”

“How scary…! To think that there are ladies in this world who would enjoy tea while looking at a guy hang his head down. I haven’t been able to taste anything no matter what I’ve drank or eaten since just now!”

Mary shouted, but Parfait and Karina just looked at each other.

“What’s she talking about?” “Right?” they gave off such expressions and Mary felt dizzy. They were cute and beautiful which makes them scarier.

By the way, the “object” was Gainas Eldland.

Gainas’ fit body was bent in 90 degrees and he has been standing there in that posture to apologize. It has already been two hours… as expected of the man who’s reputed to be good not only in literary but also sports. His physical strength and stamina was impressive… but this is not the time to marvel at that.

Also, even though it’s Gainas, his physical strength and stamina seems to be reaching the limits as his expression seems to be worsening.

In contrast, Parfait and Karina did not care about that and enjoyed black tea leisurely. Or rather, they treated as though he was not there.

That difference in attitude gave Mary chills.

“B-By the way, I’m thinking of grabbing a little more bite… what do you think?”

Mary spoke incoherently as she peeked at Gainas, the two ladies nodded happily and said “of course.” –the smiles of cute Parfait and beautiful Karina made Mary think that she’d become a slave to them if she’s a guy. Well, that’s if she’s not reminded of the “object”.

With such dazzling smiles, they started discussing about what they should eat; Mary tried to get them to leave and suggested looking around.

“By the way, if it’s possible, can you help me get my share? My legs are tired so I want to rest for a while.”

“Oh? But we’ve been sitting down?”

“Since we’ve been sitting down under such conditions, my mentality has reached its limit… just please.”

“Alright, I’ll bring some food along.”

As though Gainas’ not within her sight, Parfait smiled happily and stood up with Karina. They then had a friendly talk as they walked down the stairs.

Alright! Mary stood up immediately after they have disappeared from sight. She then hurriedly headed to Gainas and supported him to a seat nearby.

“Lift your head slowly, slowly!”

She gave instructions as she was worried that he might black out if he lifts his head suddenly.

However, in contrast to Mary’s consideration and help, Gainas just showed confusion as he muttered “but…” After all he has not received forgiveness from Parfait yet.

“For now, please try to regain your strength while that girl’s not here now. I can’t help but to worry after seeing how your face has turned pale and could not enjoy the black tea and cake!”

“Lady Mary, that’d be bad for your digestion…”

“This stupid serious man! If you want to continue to apologize, please listen to my words!”

She wiped the sweat from Gainas’ forehead with a scarf and had him sit down slowly.

It seems like Gainas has been quite tired as he slumped down onto the seat which is not the sight that people would often witness as he always had a good posture.

Looking at how tired he was, Mary cannot help but sigh “what a troublesome kid right…” Gainas hurriedly stood up as he knew that she’s referring to Parfait… but that made him dizzy and he once again fell back onto the chair.

“T-That’s not her fault… it’s all my fault.”

“I wouldn’t deny that.”

Gainas earnestly admitted his fault and Mary had no intention to deny that.

Even still, it’s good that he has some awareness of his own fault. Some of the guys gave pathetic excuses like “I was tempted by Lilianne” or “She forced me to go along with her”. Of course, those excuses had no effects and rather it only worsened their reputations.

“I hurt her because I’m too immature… still I’m glad that she allows me to apologize like this.”

“Well, that’s true.”

Mary nodded as she handed over a drink.

The punishment meted out to Gainas was indeed tough and harsh, but still he’s able to “lower his head by Parfait’s side” which means that he still has some chance. Among the ladies who showed a great reversal to the drama, some flatly refused and said “don’t show up in front of me” and refused to give a chance for apology.

Even so, there were some who have reconciled and accepted the marriage arrangement again, only to openly flirt with other men in front of their partners by saying “with this, we can cheat and spend our lives lavishly freely, right?!”

If asked which group of men faced it better, well the only way to answer is that both seemed to be hellish. After all, they have all become haggard day after day to the point of looking terrible.

They used to enjoy popularity, but now the ladies whom they have abandoned have harshly attacked them every day with smiles.

Regarding that matter, Gainas was a little better. Parfait’s anger has yet to be relieved, but she allowed Gainas to apologize to her by her side. She did not try to find another man on purpose to show off to him, neither did she ridicule his pathetic sight or laugh at him.

She cannot forgive him but she cannot keep a distance from him.

She does not want to hurt him but she cannot forgive him.

That has been going on.

Right now, when asked “By the way, when are you going to have a meal with my elder brother?”

She would hurriedly reply “No! I-I can’t do that!” and shake her head.

Why can’t she have the meal which would make everyone jealous? Well, Mary felt that if she probed deeper into that, Parfait would end up crying so she decided not to bring up the topic anymore.

-By the way, when Parfait hurriedly refused that, someone slapped Mary’s shoulder from the back. “Lady Mary, please tell me more details about that” An ambitious young lady said that with a serious voice; she sounded like a hunter on a prey and it made Mary frown without her realizing it-

Anyway, to conclude things, Parfait still has some feelings for Gainas. It’s uncertain if Gainas realized that, but if he’s persistent, there’s a chance for him to win her heart.

Gainas did not change his earnest attitude even after falling in love with Lilianne, even though he’s at a disadvantage, he was sincere and tried not to hurt Parfait, albeit in a clumsy manner, and that was what allowed him to have a second chance.

That’s why Mary was being considerate towards Gainas now. Parfait was not able to hide her feelings for him and that’s why she could not abandon Gainas and pretend not to see him when he turned pale or fainted. Mary’s not the type of person who would care for the guy who abandoned her friend. After all, she’s the villainess of the original game, but she did this all for Parfait.

“Anyway, I’ll try to make some time, so please continue apologizing until this kid finally makes her decision. For now, please rest.”

“Lady Mary, I’m sorry…”

“Oh, I’m not doing this specially for a guy obsessed with love. Please don’t misunderstand.”

Mary coldly said that and Gainas gulped slightly and lowered his head after saying “I’m sorry.”

Seeing that, Mary gave a small sigh and stood up when she heard a familiar voice.

Parfait and Karina are coming back. Their lovable bright laughs indicate that there’s not much time left.

“For now, we’ll go out, so please rest for a bit. I’ll give you a sign when we’re about to come back so be sure to return to your original posture then.”

“…No, I’ll feel bad making you do that much, Lady Mary.”

“Oh, is that fine? I mean I’m not going to offer my help all the time, you know? You might have to apologize for the next three or four hours… or rather till it’s time to leave school.”

As though being threatened, Gainas’ face turned green. That sight made Mary shrugged her shoulders as she say “Well then” before turning away towards the source of the voices.

“Oh, Lady Mary, what’s wrong?”

Parfait and Karina, who’re holding a tray of cookies and scones while chatting happily, tilted their heads.

Mary, who said that “my legs are tired so I want to rest for a while” came over to them, which made them confused.

Well, Mary could not tell them the truth and elegantly grinned while suggesting “Since the weather is good, why don’t we head outside?”

“Yes, I heard previously that the garden of this academy is beautiful. If I’m not wrong, the flowers that were donated by the families of the students are blooming now… I’ve never heard the name of those flowers before so I’d like to see them.”

Mary elegantly smiled and said that, Karina nodded and Parfait looked excited as she replied “Of course!” From their attitudes, it seems like they’ve not caught on… Mary felt relieved and upon seeing that, Karina laughed mischievously as she remarked “Lady Mary’s so kind huh.”

Mary widened her eyes and stuttered “W-What?” She regretted being careless in her reply and Karina laughed even harder while trying not to bring it up. She quietly said that it’s nothing and she did not probe further.

In contrast, Parfait totally did not notice the attack and defense taken by the two as she said “we can ask the gardener to explain the details to us if he’s around” and happily headed towards the hut where the staffs were around.

Maybe she’s happy because she can introduce the garden of Eliciana academy to Mary or there’s something about the flowers that were donated, but the way she’s sprint-walking like a small animal made her look very cute. –it’s so Parfait-like to be sprint-walking like this. Alicia would definitely run with all her might and get scolded for it.

While looking at Parfait’s back, she slowly walked with Karina.

She refreshing beauty and swaying hair in the wind might her look even more elegant than ever, her eyes were unwavering as she looked straight in front.

“Miss Karina has no intention to forgive, right?”

She did not mention who, but Karina got the message.

Karina realized what Mary was trying to say, and she gave a captivating smile which would capture any guy’s heart as she said “yes.”

There were no wavering or sadness in those eyes, they expressed her firm resolution.

She’s totally different from Parfait who would say “I don’t know Sir Gainas! I won’t forgive him!” and puff her cheeks up and purposely turn her face away in front of him.

“I wouldn’t say that it’s because he dropped the marriage arrangement or betrayed me. I’m not forgiving him for my own sake.”

Karina grinned beautifully and Mary jokingly said “How scary.” –In the first place, well “how scary” was not enough to describe the reversal attack Karina has dropped on her previous fiancé-

“I guess you won’t be able to understand me, but I’m doing this for my own sake.”

Well, she could not say it out loud that she’s doing this to avoid her own destruction; she vaguely talked about the game details.

After all, to her, Mary’s “someone who would not understand if she talked about the game”, in other words “someone who does not have any memory of her previous life.”

Well, that cannot be helped it since she’s taking a different path from the game, and even stuck her head into this incident for the sake of Parfait. Or rather, why would Mary think along the lines of “I’ve memories of my previous life, and I’m trying to make use of it to lead to my destruction…”? That’s just too different from the current situation.

However, Mary praised herself in her mind “I’m pretty good at acting huh”, while Karina quietly muttered “but…”

“But, it’s not that I cannot understand Miss Lilianne.”

“There are some similarities between us… I don’t know how to put it, but she and I were too late in the game of love.”

The wind blew… and swayed Karina’s hair. Mary gathered her silver hair strands, quietly muttered “I knew it” and pretended not to know anything as she replied “It must have been tough huh”.

Karina and Lilianne both probably regained their memories of the previous life right after the start of the game, or just right before it. Lilianne chose the reverse harem method to meet Patrick, and in contrast, Karina was desperate to gather her allies and was probably not given enough time.

More importantly, even if she regained her memories of the previous life earlier, they would probably choose a different method to approach Patrick. Mary, who’s closer to Patrick compared to the other ladies, did not know about their existences.

They were only left with this choice as they regained their memories right before the game.

And by that time, Alicia’s already by Patrick’s side.

That’s why they should not have depended on the reverse harem end route.

Still, if they don’t do that, they wouldn’t have met Patrick, and even if they do meet him, they’re just another lady to him.

Even if the future after that was not shown, if they hang on to the game, there might be a chance…

That’s why Lilianne hurriedly dropped the strategy characters so that there might a chance of love blooming between them, and Karina continued to warn and observe her for that.

Karina thought that Mary’s “a person without memories of the game” and blurred out the details while muttering “If only I noticed it earlier” “I should have tried to know him in a different manner”.

“So, what do you plan to do to Miss Lilianne who’s facing the same fate?”

“I can understand her but I won’t forgive her. I’m thinking of having her move away to a faraway place so that we wouldn’t have to cross path again.”

“So you’re going to chase her away, huh?”

“Yes, so that she’ll never appear in front of me anymore…”

“In that case, I know a very good place for that.”

Karina frowned as the name of Lilianne was enough to displease her and in return Mary showed a bright expression. She looked like she has a great idea and Karina widened her eyes in surprise.

“Yes, a very good place. It’s being managed by the relatives on my mother side but it’s an academy with strict rules and compulsory dorm living. If I were to put in some words, I think they’d keep an eye on her even after she has graduated.”

“…Is that so? If that’s the case, she’d definitely not able to come back.”

“Yes, she’ll never be able to appear ‘anymore’.”

There’s a slight change in the nuance of Mary’s words and Karina looked at her with confusion.

Her rounded black eyes were probing her “what do you mean” as she tilted her head which caused her black hair to sway. That expression and gesture was so interesting that it made the ends of Mary’s lips curl up mischievously.

“It’s an academy in the ‘vast land of the north’… it’s the best place to send her away to.”

Mary laughed sarcastically and Karina gulped.

“Lady Mary, could you also…”

Karina was about to ask something when Parfait’s voice from afar muffled it.

Volume 2 Chapter 13

As though the commotion that happened a few days earlier did not happen, there’s a tea party, which was customarily held during the holidays, in the gardens of the Albert’s Family.

The exquisite white table was surrounded by Princess Alicia, Patrick, who’s expected to be the next King and highly regarded by not only the commoners but also foreigners, and Addie, who was initially concerned about sitting together with these figures without the lady but has gotten rather used to it lately.

Although the party was held in the Albert’s Family garden, there was not a single person of the Albert’s Family; that’s because they were waiting for Mary.

“Lady Mary’s late…”

“It seems like there’s a construction at the border of the country so she might have went to help them out.”

“Ah, however, she has made a lot of friends in the Eliciana Academy, so she might be away playing with them.”

“That’s not possible.”

“That’s not possible.”

“Sir Patrick and Mister Addie, you guys do not have to refuse my words like that…”

“I cannot imagine that Mary playing with friends.”

“It’s only been a year since the lady has become an exchange student and I cannot imagine her being active.”

“I’m not asking for justifications! Or rather, both of you are just too terrible!”

Alicia puffed her cheeks; Addie and Patrick both looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders. Thoughts of “Well…” ”That’s the truth” were evident on their expressions and it’s clear that they’ve known her for a long time to understand her personality.

With a cold personality that’s both easy and yet difficult to figure out, the lady would not allow others to intrude into her territory, but once she gets close to someone, she’d show great consideration. With such a personality, as a first year exchange student of the Eliciana Academy, she’d probably be able to build a “Family Pipe” but not “Friends”.

While they were called terrible, both of their words were true and Mary is indeed playing the role of a cold lady who has no intention of making friends. Well, this might be something the lady’s used to, but for Mary she would wonder “why did this happen.”

Alicia was reprimanding the two of their attitudes as she muttered “Speaking of which, the other time…”

It was a few months back.

Like today, there was a tea party held by the Albert’s Family, but at that time Addie and Patrick were not around so there were only Mary and Alicia- of course, since it was only the both of them, Mary complained that “if they can just not attend because of some other matters, there’s no need for I myself to return home”, but Alicia happily claimed that “In that case we can just share the cake among ourselves”-

For a while after that, Mary would occasionally say some sarcastic words and enjoyed the conversation when she suddenly thought of something and said “hey” to Alicia.

As Mary had a serious look, Alicia looked at her and wondered what’s wrong.

“What’s the matter?”

“Hey, there’s something I’d like to ask you…”

“Me? Of course, I’ll answer if it’s something that I can.”

“Really, in that case, hear me out… it’s just…”

Mary looked so hesitant that it’s not like her, that’s why Alicia started to feel nervous too.

It might be about her family matters or her birth story. Or it could be about Patrick, or the heritage of the royal family… As it’s rare for an orphan to become a princess like her, she might be curious and have a question that’s difficult to ask. Alicia was determined for that; she has often been hurt by the harmless curiosity and questions of ignorant people, and she’d put on a cheery front many times.

Even so, since the opposite party is Mary, Alicia decided not to put on a cheery front or hide things from her; Alicia was resolved before saying “just ask me anything” and waited quietly for her question.

Right then, Mary slowly opened her mouth…

“…Are we perhaps friends?”

Mary asked and looked at Alicia seriously.

She was resolved and waited for an answer; her serious gaze and nervous gulp made Alicia flustered; before that she said “it’s a match!” and black tea made waves in Mary’s favorite tea cup.

“That was a little… no very lonely.”

After saying that, Alicia thought about the past and sighed. Upon hearing that, Addie and Patrick too remarked that “…yeah.” “Even though it’s Mary but that’s…” and appeared sad.

However, Patrick then suddenly remembered something and started saying “Speaking of which, me too…”

This also took place a few months back.

Patrick has had busy days pertaining to the problems of the Dice Family inheritance and acceptance as the royal family member; he was finally able to put down the loads from his shoulder when he received the help of the Albert’s Family. Of course, that was all because of Mary’s consideration and while they would often exchange sarcastic remarks as good pals, he decided to visit her to deliver his thanks honestly.

When he delivered his heartfelt thanks, she looked away nonchalantly and said that “she has done nothing in particular at all.”

That easy-to-understand attitude made Patrick smile and while he would usually take advantage of her warped persona, this time round he decided to be serious.

“Mary, I’m sincerely grateful to you.”

”Eh, a-ah, what’s wrong…?”

“If there’s anything that bothers you, please feel free to tell me. I’ll definitely help you, no matter what.”

Patrick told her directly and Mary started to fluster.

Patrick’s different from usual; he’s strangely honest today and that makes her embarrassed to hear.

Mary was perplexed and even so she jokingly said with a smile that “I wonder if you’d help me if I’m chased out of the Albert’s Family”. However, Patrick did not change his serious demeanor and nodded deeply while he looked straight at Mary like the romance “Dora School” scene.

“Of course, no matter how much you have changed, or even if you are chased out of the family, I’ll help you out.”

With a serious and line that sounded a little seductive, Mary looked even more troubled; she could feel the intense determination from his blue eyes that he’s not joking. The other ladies would have butterflies in their stomach and collapse from this, and of course Mary herself was affected too.

After a while, both of them said nothing and looked at each other, Mary broke the silence and whispered “by the way…” while looking at Patrick.

“…I understand your feelings of gratefulness very well, but why would you help me even if I’m not a lady of the Albert’s Family?”

Mary once again reconfirmed that she might not be a part of the Albert’s Family and could not believe that; Patrick was at a loss for words.

“…or so that was what happened; that was not just a matter of being distant or dull, it was just rude.”

Patrick talked about it while elegantly drinking black tea, Alicia understood his feelings and nodded. As for Addie, he could not stand hearing it and covered his face with both hands from start till the end.

Both of them looked at Addie and with the current flow, it’s his turn to talk; of course he’s probably the person who knows Mary the most and he’d probably be able to explain about the situations that they’d talked about.

In other words, they were asking him to “hurry and explain”, and sensing that, Addie slowly removed the hands from his face; he sighed and shrugged his shoulders; before continuing to talk, he briefly remarked that “the lady was simply behaving too much as the lady of the Albert’s Family.”

Volume 2 Chapter 26

Albert Ke no Reijou wa Botsuraku wo go Shomou desu 66

The sound Mary heard when she thrust herself towards Lilianne was, as guessed, the sound of the bracelet she received from Alicia breaking. Both the reddish brown and silver jewels were broken into pieces.

In the first place, this bracelet is the official merchandise of the previous series “Doragaku” and it’s extremely popular since you can choose the color of the jewels to your liking. Silver, which is a representative color of Mary Albert, did not exist in the previous series, but the reddish brown color which represents Addie existed, based on her recollection.

Moreover, the jewel can be matched based on one’s preference. Also, some people change the color of the jewels after purchasing them, or customize the size of the jewels themselves.

“I should be able to fix it if I just purchase the replacement for the broken parts.”

Mary announced that and Addie nodded.

By the way, right now, they are in the shopping streets. Just like before, they’re exerting their dominance by standing right in the middle of the streets.

“Indeed, since it’s a customizable product, it’s possible to fix it by purchasing the jewels.”

“Right? Therefore, let’s get going and buy it now.”

Right when Addie was about to complete his sentence with “I got it”, he suddenly paused.

He looked like he has just realized something and Mary looked up towards him. His rust-colored eyes were not directed towards Mary, instead he was looking behind her; wondering what he was looking at, she turned back and…

“Lady Mary! Hello!!”

Alicia announced with a booming voice; Mary jumped back and shrieked loudly “Eeek!”

“W-Why are you here!”

“Hello, little Alicia. Are you shopping now?”

“I came to the shopping streets for inspection with father and mother, and that’s when I saw Lady Mary.”

“W-Why did you appear from behind me!”

Mary must have been quite frightened as she cuddled up towards Addie while she said that; in contrast Alicia seemed to be clueless as to Alicia’s reaction as she tilted her head. She widened her purple eyes as though to ask “Why are you so angry?”

“Well, if I were to run straight towards you, you’d be angry wouldn’t you, Lady Mary.”

“Even so, that doesn’t mean that it’s fine for you to stand behind someone and raise your voice.”

Mary scolded her and Alicia still appeared to be bewildered. It seems like she really does not get the reason why Mary was surprised; Addie could not stand watching this interaction and he tried to mediate things by comforting Mary with a wry smile.

Mary was in a state of confusion as she clung onto Addie’s arms, as though she’s a cat with a curled up tail. Well, that’s exactly what any cat would have behaved when a large dog suddenly leapt up towards them when they have their guards down.

“Lady, for now, let’s cool down.”

“T-That’s right… it’s useless to scold someone like this kid after all; well I thought it’d be great if she gets half of my point.”

“Are you giving up on conveying your thoughts?”

“It’s not the first time this kid appears suddenly like today too…”

Mary said as though to persuade herself, and she slowly distanced herself from Addie; she then stomped on his foot as though to say “You should have told me if you’ve noticed this kid approaching us.” Well, she only stepped on his foot without saying out loud because she knew he’d get her message.

After that, she once again faced Alicia and like a lady, greeted “Good day, Lady Alicia” before raising the hems of her skirt and bowing her head. In contrast to her earlier high-note shriek, it’s a proper lady-like greeting.

In return, Alicia too returned the same gesture happily and did not register the message of Alicia’s complaint “If you’re able to do a proper greeting, you should have done it from the start!” She then looked at Mary and Addie.

“Are the both of you shopping today?”

“Hm? Yes… well, I guess so.”

Addie was having difficulty replying that because the purpose of this trip was to fix Mary’s bracelet and that bracelet was a present from Alicia.

Even though it was not on purpose, she broke something which she received as a present after all.

Telling this to the sender of the present is a little… Addie then glanced at Mary and she said the following nonchalantly.

“I broke the bracelet which you’ve gotten me.”

“Yes, have a look.”

She took out a small package from her bag and a bundled-up cloth from inside.

It’s wrapped in a high-quality scarf. After unwrapping it, there’s a bracelet which is of a different color from the one that’s on Alicia’s wrist now. Mary passed the bracelet to her to show her the broken parts, and indeed the brownish-red and silver jewels have shattered quite terribly.

“Wow, it has shattered quite badly.”

“Please be rest assured; I have taken my revenge.”

“…Revenge? Ah, so Lady Mary has come to fix it, right?”

Having realized the reason why Mary’s in the shopping street, Alicia lifted her head.

After that, she immediately grabbed Mary’s right wrist; in return Mary and Addie, who was listening to their conversation from the side, widened their eyes.

Why am I going with you?! Mary shouted, but Alicia just dragged Mary along to the store she has in mind. For some reason, Addie ended up grabbing onto Mary’s left arm and followed after them.

Even though she’s THE Mary Albert, she’s unable to stop it when she’s being pulled by two people. Or rather, she’s not strong enough to stand up against Alicia alone.

“Addie! Even too… you betrayer!”

“Why are you always going along with the flow whenever this happens? Stop it! I don’t have the energy now to deal with the curve-ball that’s thrown towards me now!”

“Lady Mary! Look, it’s that store!”

“I know, I’ll go too so, please stop dragging me!”

Mary complained while being out of breath and entered into the accessories store with Alicia grabbing on her right arm and Addie on her left arm.

The store was not that large and it was cozy in spite of being in the middle of the busy shopping streets. The store was filled with cute accessories and it’s just the store that’s liked by girls.

The store mainly caters for the commoners, so when the lady of the Albert family and princess appeared- furthermore with one dragging the other in- it’s not surprising that a commotion started in the store. A lady, who appeared to be the owner of the store, came out from the back of the store and greeted them with a nervous expression.

-In the first place, even though she’s on the polite side, it was a rather lackluster behavior, and as the lady of the Albert family who has received the best of customer service, she seems a little rude even… however, since she was dragged by the princess and her servant, she has no energy left to deal with this small issue.

“D-Did something happen today…?”

“Well, it’s about this”

After saying that, Mary brought out the bracelet which was carefully wrapped in the scarf.

After looking at that, the store owner’s eyes widened since the bracelet, which the lady of the Albert family has brought out, was from her store. The lady, who was in high-quality haute couture outfit, actually has in her hand an inexpensive bracelet from an ordinary accessory store; in addition to that she looked nervous as she asked “Can this be fixed?”

To this, the store owner also widened her eyes and hurriedly looked at the princess who’s standing beside her. She also has the same bracelet of a different color on her wrist…

“C-Could it be that the both of you have bracelets from this store…?”

She said that in disbelief. Why on earth did the two ladies who represent the country adore her store’s bracelets? If they were not in the stores themselves, people would probably think that “they may look similar in appearances, but their prices probably differ by a digit or two.”

However, Mary looked straight at the store owner and asked if it can be fixed, and the princess even added “it’s a pair look” with a smile.

What on earth was happening… the staffs and the customers around them widened their eyes too, and having sensed their feelings, Addie sighed and tapped on the store owner’s shoulder.

“Both of them are… a little strange.”

After hearing that, both of them complained “what do you mean by strange?” However, the store owner seemed to be too dizzy to absorb that message.

The store owner could not work things out in her head and staff brought her to the back of the store; the person in charge of accessory, looked at the bracelet which Mary has brought in, carefully.

“This has shattered quite badly…”

“Please be rest assured; I have taken my revenge.”

“R-Revenge? No, um, it’s possible to exchange the jewels for this product but…”

The employee said “but…” which made Mary tilt her head.

“I’m sorry, but right now we’re out of stock for this color…”

“Yes, I’m terribly sorry. We do have other colors if you are fine with that.”

Perhaps she felt bad for not being able to meet the expectations of the noble lady, not to mention the lady of THE Albert family, for she looked terribly sorry and bowed her head; Mary looked troubled as she took a glance at the bracelet.

The silver and brownish-red jewels which represented Mary and Addie; when she first received it, she insensitively remarked that “I’m sure that kid (Alicia) mixed these colors because she has no money!” –she suddenly thought of that and felt embarrassed to the point of wanting to dig a hole to hide in. Mary tried her best to not remember that, but she now understands Alicia’s feelings when she presented her the bracelet… that’s precisely why she thought that it’s meaningless if it’s not silver and brownish-red.

While thinking of that, the store employee looked sorry as she carried in the available stocks; Mary was looking at the jewels when she suddenly fixed her gaze upon one of them.

“Miss, did you fix it?”

“Lady Mary, what’s wrong?”

After placing the bracelet, which Mary has received, into the pockets of her skirt, she said “sorry to keep you guys waiting” to the two who’ve been waiting in the store.

…However, at that moment the three of them fell into silence, that’s because Addie and Alicia were expecting that Mary would show them the fixed bracelet, but she just looked away; it’s clear that something’s up as Addie and Alicia looked at each other.

“W-What is it? Well, let’s get going soon.”

“Lady Mary… what about the bracelet?”

“It has been fixed; that’s great isn’t it, you should return soon.”

Mary said that coldly and the way she behaved was so strange that Addie and Alicia tilted their heads.

They then exchanged glances and Addie grabbed onto Mary’s arm as she was about to step out of the store by herself; he then forcefully dragged her into one of the alley between the stores and hugged her from the back.

“W-What! What are you going to do if we’re being seen by people?!”

“It’s fine; it’s a blind spot here after all.”

Mary was at a loss for words as she was forcefully hugged by Addie. The warmth of Addie against her back, and the strong arms wrapped around her, the sweet voice in her ears, the way the hug was so tight that she could not move her body; her heart beat so fast and she could not calm it down.

More importantly, being touched like this in public, made Mary terribly embarrassed… but her embarrassment just made her heart beat louder and she was in a trance while she softly reprimanded Addie for it.

“Tsk, what are you thinking about…? Miss Alicia is around, you know?”

“Right now, little Alicia! Go for the goods in the right pocket of her skirt!!”

“I got it, Mister Addie! Lady Mary, excuse me!”

“Damn! This is not a hug, it’s a restraint!”

Let go of me! Mary shouted, but it was being ignored as Alicia reached her hands into the pocket of Mary’s skirt. She then took out the bracelet and like before, the jewels alternated in silver and brownish-red color…

That is, with the exception of two jewels in golden and blue colors.

With the bracelet with golden and blue jewels mixed in, Alicia looked at Mary. Addie, who was hugging- restraining her from the back also looked at her, Mary looked away as though she find them annoying.

Her cheeks were slightly red, but of course, no one would point that out now.

“What! It just so happens that the original colors were out of stock, so I chose these since they said there were some left! T-There’s no other meaning to it!”

“How easy to read you…”

“What! What do you mean by easy to read me! I really have no other intention, it just so happens that the colors were to my liking!”

Mary kicked a fuss and Addie, who was still restraining her, sighed softly. In contrast, Alicia’s face shone brightly after she saw the bracelet.

After that, she happily ran and said “I’ll make a reservation at the store”; she did not say what, but it was clear that she’s going to order the jewels which were out of stock. Just like how Mary has added golden and blue jewels to her silver and reddish-brown bracelet, Alicia’s going to do the same and add silver and reddish-brown jewels to her golden and blue bracelet.

It’s probably clear by now what these colors represent without explanation; Mary’s face remained red as she said “copy-cat!” like a kid.

It took a while before Alicia returned from the store.

Right then, Mary was still being hugged… no, restrained from the back by Addie; she stared at him with hatred from the side.

However, those stares of Mary had no effect at all; rather Addie seemed a little strangely delighted. Mary has often called Patrick, who has fallen in love many times before, a pervert, but right now that’s how Addie is like.

“What is it again this time?”

“I got married just the other day, but my wife’s just too cute.”

What should I do? He asked as he hugged her even tighter; Mary blushed as she sighed.

“Is that so? In that case, the lady of the Albert family, Mary Albert, has a word of advice for you, a servant who have just gotten married the other day.”

“The wife you’re in love with seems to be craving for delicious cake and warm green tea.”

She rubbed her head against his chest; Addie sounded delightful as he replied “That’s some great information” and Mary sighed at the sweetness.

The Daughter of the Albert House Wished for Ruin Vol 2-4

T/N: I’m sorry for the long absence. But I got a new job and hopefully I’ll be able to update regularly starting now.

Following the success of DoraGaku, the game maker released their second title.

The title was “Doki Doki Love Gakuen 2: The False Bride and Eternity of Love” or DoraDora for short.

As an otome game that captures the essence of the previous work, this title was also a success. Taking place in a different university from DoraGaku, she remembered that the love scenes were more passionate. Also, unlike the previous work, all the capture targets have fiance, and love by pillaging was what come to mind.

If Addie knew about this, he probably would say, “For love by pillaging theme, the title is uncool as usual, huh.” Rather than a title that matched the content, it was more of a title to incite users to think that it was a sequel.

As for the content of the game…

Lilianne, a commoner who went to an elite school, encountered a group of fascinating but troubled men, and as they confronted the problem together, she found true love…

was like that. It was your typical Cinderella story. By the way, ‘the capture targets problems’ mentioned here was mostly family problem and from there it expanded to their engagement. The results were breaking up the engagement because of ‘true love’.

The big difference from the previous work was the capture targets fiance, the player have to come to an understanding with them when it was the time of confrontation, to be able to progress with the game. In other words, the rival character might be numerous, but in the end, you just had to defeat them.

Mary was the only villainness in DoraGaku, which meant she appeared in every route. Perhaps the development team thought about this because Mary has the second-most appearance after the heroine.

Although, it was an otome game, so there were complaints that if they increase the female cast, they should increase the capture targets as well. As a result, the story have bigger development, there were friendship event for specific rival, so there was an increase in male users. Hence the success.

Remembering until that point, Mary furrowed her brow.

Weird, even though this was DoraDora world, there shouldn’t be an existence called Mary Albert here.

There was some relevance and craft that could be enjoyed by players who started from DoraGaku, but ultimately DoraDora was a story that unfold in the different place despite being in the same world as DoraGaku. With only one element removed, the previous characters were not depicted anywhere in DoraDora.

Even in the fandisc, Mary had no role. It sounded bad, but her role was a disposable villainness, needless to say there was no need for a villainness who already lost.

Aware of that, Mary didn’t understand why she is here, but she still bowed down and introduced herself without anyone discerning her confusion.

And when she sat in her assigned seat…

To her right, there was a girl with soft and fluffy hair, and just like the fluffy image, she talked about her clumsiness with a cute smile and sweet voice, “I was lost.”

In contrast, when she looked to her left, the girl with clean-cut features muttered, “Which route were you trying to go…”

Sometimes, when their eyes met each other, they would smile, and in just a second, an incomprehensible second, both of them would exchange sharp lines to each other. It was an intense scene that could create electric sparks, but their chilly gazes was enough to make someone shiver. Generally, that was not a gaze between teenage girls who met for the first time.

Mary could only let out a small sigh at her bad luck being caught in the middle of them.

It would’ve been nice if she brought Addie with her…all that big talk and she began to regret it so fast.

Perhaps, the transfer student Lilianne, and the noble lady Caleena who looked at her with significant look, had memory of past life.

With that in mind, Mary was heading to the corner of the dining room and proceed with her lunch elegantly.

Everyone had surrounded Mary for several days after the transfer because of the Albert name, but by the end of three months everyone was treating Mary as a normal student. Of course, although there were only school customs, there were many scenes where the family lineage was emphasized and respected, but in the end everyone’s opinion about Mary was, “just a regular noble lady when I tried talking to her.”

Those who tried to be her follower, sticking close like a goldfish dropping, realized that there is nothing to gain and slowly go on their way. That fast change of attitude was typical for a noble, and when she realized it, the girl who used to hold her bag was now holding another noble lady’s bag.

On the other hand, there were people who come to talk to her because they realized she’s a normal girl, so her human relationship came to a draw. Compared to her Carelia period, where she got jealous stare from all the female students in the background because she was monopolizing Patrick, this was an improvement.

However, eating alone in the corner of the cafeteria, it was because Mary was annoyed with the current gossip, so she started to take some distance from the schoolmates who were talking about it. She heaved a silent sigh as she could still hear the same story here and there, when suddenly there was a commotion starting in the cafeteria.

”Come on”, Mary murmured with a bit of disgust, glancing to her side, as if she was seeking someone who will agree with her… only to realize there was no one. For a moment, her eyes widen at the absence, but as if to gloss over it, she turned her gaze at the entrance.

Including Mary, everyone’s gaze were concentrated at the entrance, where Lilianne were being waited upon a group of good-looking male students.

After her transfer, Lilianne successfully attracted the boys who reigned at the top of the school. The speed of her work was as if she already knew all their problems and the best way to resolve it.

Three months have passed, and almost half of the male students, who everyone dubbed as princes, had become Lilianne’s follower. Even that good-looking teacher became her follower as well. That those male students and teacher are DoraDora’s target characters was something that don’t have to be said.

She brought the bite-sized cut into her mouth while calmly analyzing the reverse harem. As a sister school to Carelia Academy, Eleshiana Academy’s meal had high level as well. This delicious sauteed fish was definitely was made by a first class chef. A rich taste spread just by putting it in her mouth, and the soft white fish slowly melt on her tongue.

She wanted to let him taste it, but to do it she had to go back by carriage…as she thought that, she brought another forkful into her mouth. This rich but light taste made one can’t stop eating. Another mouthful, another one…without realizing, her utensils danced on the plate. This taste, she wouldn’t point finger but two plates would be easy to consume.

Without realizing, it was already the last bite, next for dessert…in the second she replaced her knife for a spoon, a tray was placed in the seat opposite of her.

A familiar face greeted her when she looked up.

Parfett Marquis, one of her classmates. With her soft brown hair, big eyes on a small face, her petite figure resembled a small animal, a girl with overwhelming adorableness.

She was also one of the characters in DoraDora. She was the fiancée of Gainus Eldland, one of the participant in reverse harems that takes up a corner of the cafeteria. Her role would be the rival character in Gainus’ route.

They had exchanged greetings several times before, but their relationship weren’t close enough to warrant direct contact, Mary widen her eyes and looked around at the cafeteria. Although it was noon, the cafeteria was relatively empty, and some seats could be seen around Mary. There was no need to sit with other people.

To purposely put her tray in Mary’s line of sight… the girl gave an embarrassed smile as Mary turn her gaze at her. “May I sit here…?” she asked with a small voice.

For now, Mary smiled to hide her discomposure.

However Parfett seemed to realize something when she saw Mary’s hand and her expression became stiff.

“Ah, are…are you with someone?” “

“No, I am alone, what’s wrong?” “

“Ah…but, your cups…”

Parfett returned her gaze to Mary’s hand.

Mary was alone but there were two cups. Anyone who saw this would think that another person sat on the same table.

But Mary who realized that still answered with, “I’m just by myself.” Parfett started to looked gloomy, and sensing that, Mary urged her to sit with a, “Please.”

“Don’t mind it,” before she got questioned, Mary explained, “I just prepared two cups by accident.”

Ignorant of Mary’s belief, Parfett took the seat despite still looking troubled.

And just like that meal time started again, Mary raised a question mark in her heart at Parfett, who wasn’t talking about anything.

She wondered what is wrong, but to ask Parfett directly was out of the question. As Mary sneaked a glance at Parfett to check her condition…with a suffocated expression as if she’s afraid of something, she sighed.

She was Gainus Eldland’s fiancee. But, the man in question was one of the reverse harem group that Lilianne was building.

In other words, she was a poor noble lady who got her fiancee stolen by a reincarnator. And it was as “one of the guys who surrounds the heroine”.

She didn’t know what else to say besides it’s being a disgrace. It wasn’t difficult to imagine her uncomfortable situation. What’s more, Marquis family didn’t rank that high in the noble society. Her engagement to Gainus Eldland was what elevated their prestige.

Therefore, there was nothing to protect her now that she lost it, and the curiosity that are directed at her would be more merciless compared to other noble daughters who have been deprived of their fiances. Even now, there were people who stole glances at Parfett and those who laugh coldly at her. Mary sighed tiredly…

She coughed once.

In that moment, everyone get flustered and turned away while Mary could only feel their shameful behavior. After all, they were just people who laughed at the tragic noble lady from the shadow. If Mary Albert was involved, it would come to this.

However, even Parfett seemed scared, her shoulder was trembling slightly…

“Ah, ano, perhaps I am disturbing you…”

“No, you’re mistaken! It’s okay, please don’t mind it.”

Consoling Parfett who stood up hurriedly with teary eyes, Mary tried to calm her down.

From Mary’s perspective, Parfett was the opposite of herself …a type that was difficult to handle, but you couldn’t drive her out considering her current situation.

That’s why Mary turned her gaze at Parfett who returned to her meal with depressed expression.

“I won’t ask you anything, so would you eat with more enthusiasm. “

And said that. Parfett’s expression as she ate was like it was the last meal of her life, and it seemed like she was forced to eat something terrible and tasteless. There was no fragment of elegance and it looked more like a penance.

She knew about Parfett’s situation but it was rude to the chef. Parfett let off a small sigh.

“Yes, you’re right…”

She whispered with a weak voice. But the gazes from their surrounding didn’t stop, and from the corner of the cafeteria, lively conversation and giggles could be heard, as if it was a flower field.

A girl who was eating her food gloomily at the front. Buzzing of whispered words and glances from the surrounding. The carefree laugh from a girl and boys who welcomed it…

With a I-have-enough expression, Mary sighed and chewed the last bite of the dessert.

Albert Ke no Reijou wa Botsuraku wo go Shomou desu 71

Volume 2 Chapter 31

The party, which started off with the biggest surprise of all, has reached its climax; Addie was expectedly being pulled around here and there.

Or rather, everyone was gathering around Addie and Mary was able to enjoy a little bit of freedom in the party; well it’s not just a little bit of freedom, as she even had the time to walk around in the lawn. In the end, regardless of whether she’s married or not, Mary Albert remains the same. Everyone knew that it’s useless trying to get on her good side.

“It’s easier than expected.”

“Lady Mary… Addie’s having a hard time now.”

“Oh, it’d be fine; Patrick and my elder brother are helping him out.”

Mary was chatting leisurely on the bench in the lawn; Alicia who’s sitting next to her puffed her cheeks. Well, she should be blamed too as she has a cake on the plate she’s holding onto now, and has no plan to help Addie or Patrick out.

Just like that, both of them were only looking over their husband and lover when someone called out “Hey, Lady Mary…”

When they looked to the source of the voice, there were two ladies who were speaking in a hushed tone. One of them was Parfait, who has a light pink fluffy dress on with dangling flower accessories which were swaying in the wind; in contrast, Karina was wearing a deep blue chic dress. Their outfits were polar opposites – one that’s extremely cute and the other extremely beautiful.

Both of them appeared to be nervous in front of the princess – well, to Karina, she’s the heroine of the previous series. Parfait was shivering like a small animal.

“Miss Parfait, Miss Karina, you guys have come huh.”

“Lady Mary, c-congratulations! Lady Mary, you look very pretty and blissful, it touches me and makes me happy too, so happy…”

Parfait was so touched that her eyes were filled with tears; Mary hurriedly followed up and said “please stop crying whenever you experience happiness, anger, sadness and fun!”

After that, she noticed someone behind Parfait and raised her voice “Oh.” Of course, it was Gainas Eldland; his outfit looked good on his fit body and there’s a flower on his chest which matched Parfait’s hair accessory.

He’s probably there to escort her. Looking at that, Mary smiled mischievously; Parfait sensed that she’s trying to say something and shook her head hurriedly.

“So you asked him to escort you in the end huh.”

”T-That’s not right! Sir Gainas w-wanted to come to the party no matter what, he said he wanted to greet Lady Mary!”

“Is that so? But that’s strange, I sent an invitation card to the Eldland family, so he should be able to come without having to escort you.”

“Eek! T-That’s… um, he, he knew the café that I’ve always wanted to visit, so I have him lead me to the place!”

Parfait’s face turned red as she desperately tried to come up with an excuse; listening to that, Mary replied “I see” with a grin on her face.

Parfait’s so obvious that it’s so cute and makes one want to tease her.

“In other words, he’s here to guide you to the café, huh?”

“Y-Yes! Then it’s time for the party… and he said he wanted to come so I had him come with me! It’s not escort!”

“In that case, that’s good. Please for a moment, I’ll bring my elder brothers here.”

“Eh!? U-Um, please wait! That’s… um…!”

Mary was about to return to the party venue and Parfait hurriedly stopped her. Her easy-to-understand reaction had Mary giggling; Alicia and Karina shrugged their shoulders.

”Tsk, she’s not honest” both of them had that expression as they looked at Mary and Parfait.

“It seems like it’s still a little too early, right? In that case, I’ll make some time for that later.”

Parfait’s eyes were wandering around and it’s clear that she did not mean her words. In return, Mary was about to follow up and say “maybe I’ve gone too far in teasing you”… when someone grabbed her shoulder from the back.

“Lady Mary, congratulations. By the way, I have free time anytime.”

“I knew you’d come…”

The ambitious young lady had her eyes shining like a predator eyeing on a prey, and she spoke quickly with a passion. The red dress made her look beautiful, but for some reason, to Mary it looked like she’s in a battle outfit. The redness reminds of her flaming passionate heart.

Even Mary felt that pressure and she once again heard a timid voice saying “Lady Mary…”

This time round, it’s not Parfait or Karina; after all Parfait was puffing her cheeks in order to intimidate that ambitious young lady who has muttered “Sir Gainas and the Eldland family are rather high-ranking too.” Karina sighed and looked at the both of them with a tired look. Rather, it’s from a few ladies, who were looking at Mary awkwardly.

They looked familiar… Mary tried to recollect who they were when she remembered the sights of jealousy she has experienced in the countless of parties she has attended before. They were so cold and hot like flames. Those were the faces that looked at her with jealousy as though they thought that she’s having Patrick all to herself.

However, right now they do not have such looks of jealousy in their eyes, rather there were only confusions. They used to fear that Mary would steal their own prince, but now that she has announced her marriage, they cannot believe it and it cannot be helped it that they were confused.

That’s why Mary looked at those ladies with an easygoing smile and bowed in return to the words of congratulations.

While saying “Thank you”, she thought “Now, please end those misled jealousy and suspicions.”

In contrast, those ladies looked at each other awkwardly and muttered “Why.”

“Um, please listen to us without being angry but… why did you choose him?”

They asked with curiosity and Mary widened her eyes.

Of course, they meant Addie. Well, it’s kind of rude to say that to someone who has chosen him, what’s more in the middle of the marriage announcement party, but since they’re the ladies born in this world where political marriages were common, it’s natural for them to have this question.

The lady of the Albert family who has it all – looks, ability and power, could have gotten anyone; but why did she choose a servant to be her partner…?

Of course, they could not ask that directly, but they were trying to probe with their expressions. In addition, one after another, they raised names like “I thought that Lady Mary…” “I thought Lady Mary would marry that person…”

Mary does not recognize those people, but to those ladies, she’s “Mary Albert who can have all of the best princes”.

In other words, they attended this party while being prepared to have their beloved prince stolen away by Mary, and were completely shocked by the unexpected choice.

Mary sensed that and shrugged her shoulders with a wry smile.

“Well, even if you ask me why, it’s obvious why, isn’t it?”

“Well, there’s no other better guy than Addie, after all.”

Mary replied that with a smile, and the ladies widened their eyes.

They have never seen Mary Albert smiling with such earnest look, from the bottom of her heart. She has always been that cold lady who does not blush or look shy with happiness whenever she holds the hand of Patrick, which is everyone’s dream. Some were jealous of how she was at ease with that, and even cried because they knew that they would not beat the power that the Albert family wields.

However, right now, Mary’s behaving quite the opposite; she’s talking about the person she loves with a blushed blissful face.

“Lady Mary, I think we might have misunderstood you.”

“Is that so? I’m glad that the misunderstanding has been cleared up. So what are you guys going to do?”

The ladies tilted their heads with questions marks floating on top; Mary glanced at the party venue with a side glance.

There were quite a number of people gathered in the party today, as expected of the Albert family. There were guests, not just from within the country, but also from abroad, and of course the “prince who they thought would be snatched away by Mary” was probably in attendance.

“So, are you guys going to stay around waiting without lifting a finger?”

“If you are only going to wait around quietly, you are going to lose out to a lady from the countryside with nothing but guts, you know? Haven’t you learned from what happened with Patrick?”

Mary grinned and everyone gulped quietly.

However, everyone only looked troubled and no one tried to move, Mary then sighed softly.

“In this world, there are some dull people who would not know how much they love a person until they are being told that.”

She did not specify who, but Alicia quietly laughed when she heard that.

Mary cleared her throat as though she’s displeased with Alicia’s reaction as it’s clear that she’s referring to herself.

When she’s told that she loves Addie and was persuaded by Alicia, she finally understood that he’s been in her heart all along. Thinking of how dull she was, she was so embarrassed that she could not disclose that it’s her.

That’s why Mary continued her words as she said “I won’t say who it is but-”

“There are such dull people in this world; wouldn’t it be such a waste of them if they just kept thinking… if only the other party would notice? I wouldn’t say that those who act upon their thoughts would win, but right now, there’s someone who’s in front of us who won just by making the first move.”

Mary took a side-glance; Alicia noticed that and shyly smiled wryly.

In order to have Patrick look at her, she persistently chased after the prince who would have made everyone flustered. As a result, she managed to win over his heart. There’s a difference in their identity and status, and there were countless of love rivals, but she overcome all of that with her heart.

Also… Mary then looked at Addie who’s inside the mansion. He took action which made the dull her realize what the numbness in her chest was.

Of course, that does not mean that things will go well as long as one tries hard. Sometimes the technique was used wrongly like what Lilianne did, and sometimes it’s too late like it was in the case of Karina. If things go wrong, it would only end up inflicting wounds.

Even so… Mary said seriously as though to persuade them.

“It takes courage to make the move. You might end up being hated by the other party, or being thought as improper. I understand that there’s some anxiety about that. Even so… I think that the people who have the courage to make a move are all wonderful.”

Her voice, which was filled with love, made the lawn quiet down.

That quietness was broken by the soft music which could be heard from the party venue. The beat seemed to have changed and it’s probably time for dance.

“Since it’s an opportunity, everyone should try to invite someone for a dance.”

Mary declared that as though she has just thought of something brilliant, and the ladies who heard that widened their eyes with surprise.

They have never imagined a lady initiating a dance. Usually, they’d have the first dance with their escort, and after that the guys would come over to seek permission for a dance. Most of the times, these would come from connections of their parents or acquaintances.

It’s very out of the norm… Mary laughed when she looked at the ladies’ faces.

“Oh? It’s the day when the weird lady of the Albert family announces her marriage today, you know? It’s not going to be surprising if the ladies invite the guys for a dance.”

Mary grinned and everyone looked at each other with widened eyes. Well, it’s usual for the weird person to make such a weird statement.

However, their expressions gradually changed, and they started to think of something. They were probably filled with thoughts like how they would not want their beloved prince to be stolen by anyone this time round, or how their prince would be stolen if they were to keep their feelings to themselves like this again. Even so, they were so used to waiting that their feet stuck to the ground and they could only looked at each other with troubled looks.

It’s right at that moment, when they heard Alicia’s voice coming from the passageway which linked the lawn to the party venue.

The Daughter of the Albert House Wished for Ruin Vol 2-1

TN: As usual, quick TL and un-proofed. Enjoy.

Once every few years, Mary would get herself a straight perm.

Of course it was to de-roll the vertical drill, but it was so hard to get rid off…At the salon, those alloy drill was known as the beautician-killer.

However, she kept taking on that challenge, because she was, after all, a teenage girl who long for gentle wave hairstyle. Above all, now that she’s a second year at the university, she wanted an elegant figure with fluttering silver hair just like her mother.

Vertical roll combined with dress were too childish after all. Until high school, that style was suited for a noble daughter, but that was not the case in university.

That’s why, even though she understood that it was futile, she kept on trying the straight perm. One could say she is bad at giving up, or admirable…

“Mary-sama, we’ll make it this time.”

Don’t worry! And so they encouraged, as the beautician dry her silver hair as if patting them.

Mary who heard that, replied with a smile, “Yes, I’m looking forward to it,” despite thinking ‘how many times this conversation had happened…’ Although they kept losing, Mary couldn’t disregard the beauticians who expend all their skill in these battle.

Above all, it’s also for the sake of their comrade who fell against these beautician-killer Alloy drills… Aah, her tears welled up when she remembered…

“Sorry for the wait, Mary-sama. It’s finished…”

They gulped down their breath. Speaking of the size of the sound, it was something that represents the degree of tension of the beautician.

But it couldn’t be helped. Usually, her drill would roll back the moment they said “finished now”. With figurative kyururu sfx, those drills rolled back vigorously as if laughing at their futile attempt.

This time too, Mary already accepted her defeat somewhere inside her heart, and waited for the beautician to finish her sentence.

The beautician and Mary, no, the whole salon went silent as those silver hair didn’t make a single movement.

“My Lady, let’s forget the impossible and get something to eat! “

And so Addie broke the silence. As usual, this rude attendant who didn’t act like one appeared in the salon, tilting his head at the strange silence inside the salon. He wondered what just happened. It wasn’t the first time they fail against Mary’s alloy drill, so to be this silent…

Feeling the unusual tension, he looked around the salon for Mary… only to stop his gaze at the figure of a person with gentle, wavy hair.

A dumbfounded expression. His eyes widen as if he saw something unbelievable, not only that, his jaw dropped as well.

She gave a small laugh at his reaction, and slowly stood up with pride. With elated smile, she approached him while her silver hair swayed.

“What do you think, Addie? “

“Oh my, don’t be that surprised, will you. Well, can’t say I’m not surprised too.”

“What do you mean! “

“There is no pain nerve in those drill! “

Mary snapped back as Addie rudely expressed his surprise.

The salon went back to normal at their usual banter, with the beautician stared at those silver hair with satisfaction.

“Mary-sama, it totally suited you.”

“Yes, thank you. Your skill has improved as well. ….it’s a really long, long battle.”

Looking back at their repeated battle in the past, Mary clasped the beautician’s shoulder. All the staffs watched them with tear in their eyes, because they knew how long the battle was.

With the beauticians rotating their shift, sometimes taking more than half a day, but those drills were unbreakable. That’s why, the emotion in this moment couldn’t be easily expressed, some even wiped the corner of their eyes with handkerchief.

Of course, that included Mary too. As the one who feel the most excitement, Mary pulled Addie’s hand, “Let’s show it to everyone!”

“To think there is someone rude enough to destroy your alloy drill…”

“In this moment, in this salon, I think you are the rudest one. Anyway, let’s return to the mansion. I want to show this new hairstyle to everyone! “

“Yes, it is enough to go out and dismiss a very rude someone.”

“We, well, let’s go! I’m sure everyone will be surprised! “

Look! This time, it was Addie who pulled on Mary’s arm.

On the other hand, Mary sighed and walked with light steps as her hair sways, biting her lips.

And when they returned to the mansion and showed her new hairstyle off…

Starting from “Who might you be?” to “Mary-sama, why don’t you lie down for a while?”, and in the end, “Did you drop it somewhere? I will go find it.” was the unexpected reaction.

Even Mary would receive damage from those comment–and no, her defense definitely didn’t go down because she lost the drill– After making a full round trip around the mansion, her shoulder dropped and gloomy atmosphere surrounded her.

The vigor she had when she left the salon was nowhere to be seen, only teary eyes. Addie also regretted his previous blunder, muttering, “Oh dear.”

“To think that everyone only talk about the drill…””E, everyone was just excited! They weren’t being serious.”

“Of course! Even the guard said, “It haven’t been delivered yet,” when he saw me! If that is serious, I’ll slap him with a dismissal notice right now! “

Grrrrr! Addie tried to calm her anger down with a “Now, now.”

As if calming an animal, as expected Mary who was already filled with dissatisfaction glared at Addie. …but, she only hold Addie’s hand.

Not only that, all her anger just now went somewhere and she smiled. The loosely wound silver hair swayed, adding adult charm to Mary’s who was originally beautiful.

Addie shook his shoulder at her unusual attitude.

“I accept your feeling.”

“Your feeling to receive the dismissal notice earlier than the guard! Just you wait, I’ll slap you with it! “

“With your drill gone, you even lost your composure! “

“Are you still saying that at this time! “

I will definitely fire you! Mary yelled –although it was a problem that she wasn’t serious until now– Addie tried to deflect the subject by laughing and raise his hand to touch her silver hair…only to stop.

Previous joke-filled banter went away and he lowered his eyebrows to take a peek at her face with affectionate expression.

“Um…do you mind if I touch your hair? “

“We, well, I don’t mind.”

Mary replied to Addie who asked again for permission, with a tone that said ‘after all this time’.

Receiving her permission, he touched her silver hair, caressing her wavy hair gently. Mary chuckled at his careful ministration, as if he was handling fragile glass work.

“It totally suits you… very pretty.”

“Ah, I see… thank you.”

As if he was happy for himself, Addie complimented her, and she shyly smile back. It was embarrassing when she got complimented again, and even more so to be touched this way.

To be caressed with the back of his fingers, sometimes entwining her hair between them, it was strangely pleasant. She narrowed her eyes as she also felt this vexing embarrassment that was hard to say deep in her heart.

What is this sweet and numbing sensation she never felt before… Mary shifted her gaze toward her hair as she was intoxicated with that feeling.

There was no more trace of her alloy drill. A huge change that will surprised anyone. —although, aside from her hair, nothing changed. The reaction to her drill from her surrounding was huge (despite being late), to the point Mary thought it was a something major–

Gazing at her soft hair as Addie’s fingers caressed them, ‘Perhaps with this…’ she smiled happily and unconsciously said,

“With this much change, no one will know I’m Mary Albert if I study abroad at the neighboring country.”

And so it slipped her mouth.

Oh no, the moment she thought that, it was too late.

Volume 2 Chapter 23

The first person who broke the silence was Mary who hurriedly dashed in.

An awful actress was mixed in among them…! While screaming that in her mind, she rushed into the middle of the group and stood beside Parfait; without anyone noticing, she lightly poked her elbow. Parfait was stuttering and her already teary eyes started to moisten more.

“What’s with that earlier, please act a little better!”

“I-It’s not an a-act! I-I really don’t ca-care about Sir Gainas…!”

“Ah, tsk, such an awful actress! I’m gonna grill you!”

“P-Please do not grill me…”

She scolded Parfait in a soft voice, but in the first place the latter’s mentality is weak in the first place and she’s close to her limits now. She trembled as she reached her limits and grabbed the hem of Mary’s skirt and called out “Lady Mary-” while looking up with imploring looks.

That feeble look made Mary sigh. Even though she interfered because of Parfait’s poor acting, now that she’s on the stage, she cannot help it… while thinking of that, she peeked around the surroundings and purposely slapped Parfait’s shoulder.

“Lady Parfait, since this is such a perfect chance, why don’t you tell it to everyone?”

She said it with nonchalance. Her voice was louder than usual and of course it’s meant for the ears of those around.

Right then, as though to force Parfait to agree with her, she asked once again “Why don’t you?”

“I think it’d be better if you announce it to everyone that you’re going to have a meal with my elder brother.”

Everyone on the spot, including Parfait herself, widened their eyes at that announcement. After all, Mary’s elder brother is the son of the Albert family who wield equal powers as that of the royal family. Adding onto that, one of the twins was going to the next Albert family head.

Having a meal with such a person suggests something and of course this would surprise everyone; Parfait herself was panicking and she pulled Mary’s arm.

“N-No, Lady Mary! What do you mean?”

“It’s fine, just go along with the flow.”

“But, I-I’m a coward…!”

Parfait was trembling and Mary sighed.

The Marquis family is of the lowest ranking in Eliciana academy and in contrast to that the Albert family holds incredible power even if it’s from the neighboring country, such a reaction would be normal considering the gap between the two families. Even so, Mary said in a quiet voice ‘you don’t want to lose to Lilianne, right?’ Parfait nodded with teary eyes.

There was a slight glimpse of light in those moist eyes, and even though she’s a coward and fearful of things, she probably wanted to send a counter-attack too.

“…I don’t like being on the losing end all the time.”

“In that case, please just nod. I mean, I’d really introduce him to you for real if needed.”

Mary whispered that and once again faced Lilianne and the guys surrounding her.

They were all at a loss for words and even Gainas was showing an anxious look. They didn’t expect such a big-wig to appear and the bunch of idiots around started making a stir.

“How nice…” the ambitious ladies who have just made their wonderful declarations one after another muttered. The status of their fiancé’s family was probably not enough and they’re seeking out for the son of the Albert family.

The awkward situation earlier has been cleared with Mary’s declaration.

After the abandoned ladies wonderfully dropped the bombs onto the guys, Parfait who was timid with her lowly family status and fearful of the stares of the people around, suddenly rose in status with the protection of the Albert family. It was a wonderful comeback.

However, even though Parfait was told that that she’d be introduced to the son of the Albert family, she has only been looking at Gainas…

Lilianne decided to put an end to this.

The guys around her had been talking about true love and they all turned pale at how the situation was overturned; she probably judged that the following development would be bad. After emerging from the shadows of the guys, she approached Mary.

“It doesn’t concern Lady Mary anymore, no?”

Lilianne’s words made Mary furrow her eyebrows.

…this is bad. It’s good that she jumped out to save Parfait, but she ended up attracting the last boss Lilianne out. With this, she’d overtake the role of Karina who’d be the greatest villainess… Also, Karina herself has not spoken yet and Mary’s curious of what she has prepared.

She wonders if things would resumed back to the earlier state if she said “Wait, wait! Let me watch till the end!” However, even if she’s cornered by Lilianne, it’s not her matters; she has no business in this whatsoever.

“Hmm, that’s right. It’s not really my business. It’s not as if a lustful lady has stolen my guy away, or rather I’m loved by a devoted guy and unlike this tragic romance drama, my mind’s filled with beautiful plantations.”

Mary glanced at the guys of the reverse harem.

Some of the guys remained pale; some showed looks of displeasure at Mary’s words and some were panicking… Only Gainas himself looked sorry without lifting his head up. If only he has held his head up, he’d notice that Parfait’s still looking at him… what a dense guy.

“That’s why, there’s no reason for me to join this tragic romance drama, right?”

She shifted her gaze to Karina and the other ladies.

Some were still glaring at the guys, and the others who have already declared their breakup towards the guys looked at Mary. Some of the ambitious ladies were showing looks of envy towards Parfait.

“Also, I don’t have the curiosity of those idiots who have been watching over the scene.”

She did not look at anyone when she declared this; the students in the surrounding hurriedly faced away. There were some who cleared their throats and it’s obvious.

After that, Mary looked at them in turn before facing Lilianne.

“Like you have said, this is indeed not my matter.”

“T-That’s right, so why…”

Lilianne ended her words as though probing why did she interfere, and Mary just coldly laughed.

Like Lilianne has said, Mary Albert has no business in “Doradora”. She has no scenes and was the villainess of the previous work.

Lilianne used her knowledge of the game and tried to build a reverse harem, and Karina fought against her to prevent her destruction; all these are none of her business. There’s no scene for her.

That’s precisely why she has tried to be a speculator before this moment.

“I cannot leave my troubled friend alone.”

The game or previous life does not matter to her.

Since her friend Parfait was in trouble, it’d damage Mary Albert’s pride if she overlooks this.

“I realized this just the other day, but it seems that my friends are my weak spots, surprisingly.”

Mary said that and confusion appeared in Lilianne’s eyes. At the same time, panic could be seen in it and it seems like she’s trying to think about what’s going to happen next. She probably tried to think of ways to get rid of Mary.

Lilianne must have lost her composure as her expressions became contorted after she heard the stir in the surrounding and shrill voices of the female students. She’s normally a gentle and beautiful lady with a soft angel-like smile, but right now she’s just panicking. The creases in between her eyebrows and slanted corners of mouth; Lilianne’s evident look of fear confused everyone as they stared at her. After which, she saw the blue hair of someone swaying in the middle of the crowd which made her widen her eyes…

“What, it’s not your scene yet so please do not interfere into my matters…!”

Lilianne raised a hysterical voice and rushed towards Mary.

Mary shrieked and fell on her backside at that force.

At the same time, she heard a familiar name calling her.

Lilianne and Karina called his name at the same time when-

Volume 2 Chapter 29

Patrick’s absolutely-right scolding made the three of them widen their eyes; they then looked at the clock hung on the cafeteria’s wall. Without them realizing, quite a considerable amount of time has passed by, and it’s time for them to prepare.

“That’s right; I guess we should start preparing soon.”

After clearing up the table, Mary stood up and Addie followed suit. But, right then, Patrick, who seemed weirdly elated, slapped Addie’s shoulder.

His smile was so dazzling bright which would make any ladies blush, or even faint.

However, Mary and Addie have some resistance towards Patrick’s smile, or rather they know clearly well that it’s not usual for him to smile like this; looks of suspicion surfaced on their faces.

“Addie, do your best today.”

“Ah, yes… of course.”

“E-v-e-r-y-o-n-e is going to focus on you, no, to be specific, ‘the unknown marriage partner who has been chosen by Mary Albert which has overturned the noble world’!”

Patrick laughed happily and Addie jumped back with a frown on his face.

“After all, you are the one whom Mary Albert has chosen after she broke off the marriage arrangement with me. It’s the latest trending topic among the nobles and scholars in this country.”

Patrick lightly said that, and in contrast Addie’s expression turned paler than ever.

However, that’s a fact, and there are already people who have gathered before the starting time as they wanted to know about her marriage partner as soon as possible. They made excuses like ‘We wouldn’t be able to take our time to chat once the party has started’ or ‘I really want to lend my help’ but they’re all looking out for guys in the mansion, who may be her marriage partner, with eyes like that of a hawk.

Some even called over the maids and servants of the Albert family and begged them ‘I’ll pay you money so just tell me who is it’; the marriage announcement is that much of a big deal. Everyone wanted to get hold of the information as soon as possible so that they could butter up to the marriage partner and his family.

Well, since Addie has always been a servant of the Albert family, no one would have thought that he’s the marriage partner even if he’s in the mansion. So even if he’s having tea with Mary alone, everyone would only think that ‘it’s the usual thing’.

Or rather, there might be some persistent people who’d grab hold of Addie and asked him ‘who’s the husband of Lady Mary?’… Or rather it really happened.

That’s how much people have been focusing about this. Also, thinking that they’d be announcing it today… Addie cannot help but turn pale. He, who has always been the servant, would be put in the middle of the attention in the world of nobles. Adding on to that, as someone who would overturn things in the noble world too…

The silence of fear followed suit and Patrick just continued smiling in a refreshing manner towards the pale Addie.

“Oh right. It’s not just the attention from within the country. It seems like there’d be guests from other countries too.”

He even added on with unnecessary information.

In return to that, Addie, who has turned pale white, finally opened his mouth to say something…

“Please let me go home!”

That was the phrase he muttered out.

“Addie, your house is just right there, isn’t it?! You can go home and come back, or rather your entire family members are here!”

“Sir Addie, it’d be fine. I mean I’ve been able to work as the princess normally all these while. They’d only make a fuss at the beginning!”

“Speaking of which, the student council members of the high school are here. It seems like they’ve been talking about ‘who has that Lady Mary chosen’ lately.”

“Don’t tease him anymore, you mischievous boy! Addie, please just come down from the dish-serving platform for now! The chef has been staring at us with a really furious look.”

Mary consoled him and said that it’d be fine; Addie timidly got off.

After which, he glared at Patrick and said ‘thank you for your wonderful congratulatory message.’ His intent of hatred was evident in his tone.

Still, despite being told that, Patrick laughed even more happily than ever and replied ‘you’re welcome’; Mary and Alicia were both dumbfounded and shrugged their shoulders at this.

It’s very like Patrick to send his congratulations in this way. In return, Addie also started snickering in the same manner and it seems like this is the way men run their friendship.

“How twisted, right?”

“Oh, does Lady Mary have a preference for that?”

Alicia giggled quietly while Mary opened her eyes widely and said ‘you sure have a lot to say’ while glaring at her.

After which, the two main characters started their preparations; for dressing up, the lady will take more time to prepare compared to the man. Well, even more so since it’s for the marriage announcement.

After being done with the preparations, Addie, once again, have nothing to do and was wandering around within the mansion. A familiar voice called out his name and he turned behind; it’s a member of the student council of the Karelia academy high school. Well, borrowing the words of Mary, ‘the strategy characters of the Dora school.’

Each one of them wore clothes which bear the mark of their family crest; the way they walk together in a group made them rather intimidating. Even now, the passionate sighs and shrills of ladies could be heard from every direction.

“I’m really grateful to you all for coming today.”

Addie bowed his head deeply and stuck his hand out for a handshake. They did not reply with ‘thank you for inviting…’ because Addie was considered the servant of the Albert family.

Once the announcement has been made, their attitudes would probably change… while thinking of that, he instinctively said ‘would you like anything to drink?’ He’s so used to serving others that he thought that he ought to have a little more self-awareness as a wry smile appeared on his face.

“I heard that Patrick’s already here.”

“Yes, Sir Patrick is talking to the master of the house right now.”

“How about Lady Mary?”

“Lady… Miss Mary is preparing in the salon right now.”

“I see… by the way, Addie”

What’s wrong? Addie tilted his head. The former student council member grinned mischievously. After which, the vice-president grabbed hold onto his shoulder and he had a bad feeling about it.

“You obviously know who the marriage partner of Lady Mary is, no?”

“I don’t think Lady Mary would keep it a secret from you, Addie.”

“No, um, well I do know who it is but…”

“I knew it. So, who is it? I tried asking but there were only rumours and we’d have to wait till the announcement.”

‘That’s why, please tell us,’ they insisted. Addie was troubled as to what to say.

They’re probably asking purely out of curiosity. Who has that Mary Albert chosen? They have been rejected by Mary in the past before, and they knew how she would use Patrick’s name as an excuse for rejecting them; that just fuelled their curiosity about ‘the guy whom Mary Albert has chosen.’

Once he tells them that, the information would be leaked. They’d probably wait patiently for the announcement if told to do so.

That’s why Addie decided to brush them off when another familiar voice called out to them.

When they turned behind, Patrick was standing there. The student council members immediately headed towards him at once and the vice-president removed his hand on Addie’s shoulder; he breathed a sigh of relief.

“Oh it’s Patrick; we’re just this close to getting the answer.”

“You guys are probably trying to dig out who’s the marriage partner by asking Addie, right?”

The guys seemed displeased and Patrick reprimanded them like the student council president; it’s almost unbelievable that Mary called him a ‘mischievous boy’ earlier.

“It seems like you wouldn’t tell us no matter how much we begged, Patrick. So we decided to ask Addie instead.”

“You probably thought that you’d get the answer, right? Addie, please don’t tell me you’ve told them?”

“No, of course I didn’t.”

Addie shook his head and tried to assert his innocence; Patrick nodded with satisfaction.

After these interactions, the former student council members looked rather displeased as they did not manage to draw out any information in the end. Still, they maintained the ‘niceness’ in their eyes, and they changed their approach this time round with childish expressions and ‘cute’ voices.

“However, it must be a rather unexpected person since you guys are tight-lipped to this point.”

Patrick parroted what the former vice-president said.

However, Patrick thought that it was anything but ‘unexpected’, so he was confused and tilted his head.

“Of course, we’re talking about the person whom that Lady Mary has chosen. There’s not even a single reliable rumour until today, the day of the announcement. So everyone’s speculating that it must be a rather unexpected person. Patrick, were you surprised when you first heard about it?”

“Surprised? Me? Of course not.”

Patrick shrugged his shoulder and laughed. Everyone else were surprised at his behaviour and stared at him.

Even though he’s the previous fiancé, they have spent time together since young after all.

“But, Patrick, you have always said that you’ve a marriage agreement with Lady Mary, didn’t you? Yet, you’re not surprised…”

“It’s not me, but the people surrounding us, who said that Mary and I matched well. I’ve always thought that there’s no one other than him who’d be by Mary’s side.”

Patrick snickered happily as he said that; question marks started appearing above everyone’s heads.

They could not think of anyone who’d fit the description of what he said. Even though it’s clear to everyone that Mary and Addie has always been together, no one noticed it; that made it even more entertaining to Patrick and he laughed louder; Addie smiled wryly and sighed.

One of them seemed to be having great fun, while the other seemed to be sick of it; they thought that it’d impossible to draw any information out of them and so decided to greet the madam of the Albert family.

After seeing them go off, Addie breathed a sigh of relief as he escaped from the difficulty.

“…Sir Patrick, aren’t you having too much fun?”

“Of course, if I don’t enjoy this, what would I enjoy?”

“How terrible… is this the admired prince of the ladies? I’m sure half of them would run away from you if they know of your true nature.”

“I’m fine as long as Alicia is around.”

“Thanks for your lovey-dovey talk.”

“In the first place, you called me the admired prince of the ladies, but your one and only lady doesn’t have any admiration for me at all.”

Patrick grinned with a side-look; Addie’s face turned red and he cleared his throat to brush it off.

After that, he took a breath again and faced Patrick, who’s still laughing happily.

Everyone would have fawn over his looks- well, with the exception of Mary, like he has had said- the looks of the ideal prince. His blue hair swayed and his same-coloured eyes were looking at Addie as though he’s asking ‘what’s wrong?’

Ladies of every status would have become a slave to him; he who has it all – charms, talents and authority. Yet, he chose the girl who’s born in the countryside.

He did not mind abandoning his family status…

“I’ve been filled with envy upon seeing you and little Alicia spending a happy life. I don’t want to hand the lady over to anyone else… I used to give up on that, but you have made me change my mind.”

“Thank you very much, Sir Patrick.”

Following his emotions without caring about the family statuses, he chose love over politics.

Patrick was willing to give up everything for the sake of Alicia, and seeing how Alicia was living a blissful life by his side, it relit the fire of ambition in Addie’s heart to follow his desire to be a “man” and not as a “servant” who used to think that it’d be fine as long as he continues working for her even after she marries another person.

He doesn’t want to hand her to anyone else and he’s beginning to think that it’s possible for that to happen.

That’s linked to this very moment of this special day, so he had to express his gratitude to Patrick who was the one who started it all.

Addie expressed his honest feelings; Patrick scratched his head shyly.

“Don’t mind about it. I’d help you no matter what.”

Patrick slapped Addie’s shoulder with a mischievous smile- which is so like him and so unlike ‘the cold prince who would everyone would fall in love with.’

“I’m the captain of the ‘Addie support team’ after all”

Addie widened his eyes at Patrick’s words.

Patrick snickered in enjoyment at his reaction; he then once again congratulated his pal with ‘Congrats.’

Albert Ke no Reijou wa Botsuraku wo go Shomou desu 72

It made everyone turned back and incited several expressions; loving smiles, the yearning heat, and endless sadness… he did not notice those looks and just called the name of his beloved one. “Alicia, so you’re here.”

“Sir Patrick, what’s the matter?”

“The dance is about to commence so I’d like to… oh Mary is here too?”

“Your attitude towards the main actress of the day just doesn’t cut it”

Mary jokingly stared at Patrick and he smiled wryly as he apologized.

However, someone interrupted into the conversation with a tense look and that’s Karina, who has been walking alongside Alicia.

“Lady Alicia…” she spoke in a timid voice, which is totally unlike her character. She kept her head down and took glances at Patrick; it’s clear that she’s bewildered. In the first place, considering the differences between their statuses and roles in the game; it’s no wonder that Karina behaved timidly when it comes to Alicia.

“Excuse me for my rudeness… but would you allow me to invite Sir Patrick for a dance?”

Karina’s declaration was reserved and yet bold; the ladies gulped and widened their eyes.

However, those reactions were normal; after all she has just invited the unofficial lover of the princess for a dance, right in front of her. Normally, she’d be rebuked against or even punished such that she’d not be allowed to join the conventional social parties anymore.

However, Alicia smiled with narrowed eyes and nodded deeply in return as she said “Of course.”

Having received that reply, Karina lifted her head up. After which, she slowly walked towards Patrick who’s so confused and could not follow the flow of the conversation; even so he knew that it’s a serious matter and looked at Karina.

“Sir Patrick, I’ve always… I’ve always held fond feelings towards you since the past. I’ve always…”

Karina tried to put her words together desperately; even so she cannot help but stutter and everyone were looking over her endearingly. Everyone probably figured out that she has had fond feelings for him for a really long time.

However, Karina has always loved Patrick for a long time, even beyond what those bystanders were thinking of; she loved him since her “previous life” after all and it’s not something that could be explained. Karina probably felt frustrated at how she could not express that properly; for a moment, she stopped talking and her eyes were wandering around… it seems like she has finally come to a resolution as she looked up towards Patrick.

“In order to remember these fond feelings I’ve had for you all these while and to move on with a ‘beautiful memory’, would you please, please, dance with me?”

Karina invited him with a trembling voice, probably because she felt the fear of being rejected after being so resolved like this.

She would not be able to move on if she’s rejected by him whom she has had fond feeling for since the past, or rather “her previous life”. She would probably be seized with endless regrets and pain.

Also, there’s another reason why Karina was behaving timidly in front of Patrick.

The Patrick that she knows of is after all the Patrick of the “Dora school”. His perfect appearance and skills in both literary and sports are traits of the prince that all ladies admire and yet his cold behaviour is also heart-fluttering. He’s strict towards himself and other people, but he looks at his lover, the main character (Alicia), tenderly.

Although he’s really good at taking care of people and would deal with people appropriately, sometimes he would joke sarcastically and try so hard to compose himself as he tried to contain his laughter with trembling shoulders; Karina only knew of the Patrick from the game, so she probably could not imagined how he would react.

That’s why, she’s afraid of being rejected, since she’s not the main character (Alicia).

Patrick gently smiled and took her hands at her timid request.

“If you’re fine with me, I’d be pleased to,” said Patrick as he escorted Karina to the party venue. She’s so happy that it showed on her face.

After seeing the two of them off, a commotion could be heard emanating from the party venue. Of course, that’s because Patrick Dice brought along someone who’s not the princess. Although the people around were making a commotion, Patrick did not care about that as the princess herself gave the permission.

Rather than that, Mary was more interested at how the expressions of the ladies started to change after Karina left. One after another, they muttered “Me too…”

Some of them wanted to dance with Patrick too and followed after the two, others have decided that it’s time to stop waiting and went to find their beloved ones; as they left to look for the princes of their hearts, there were only a few people left in the garden.

Mary and Alicia, who looked at the ladies who left, as well as Parfait and Gainas, who did not make a move, were left behind.

…Also, there’s a lady who grabbed onto Mary’s shoulder from the back.

“Lady Mary, I’ll go for it too.”

“For some reason, your ‘go for it’ sounds more like ‘hunt for it’ to me. Or rather, I thought you’d try to cut in the line and approach first.”

“I’m not someone who’d go for the same prey as someone else; I thought I should make a move after everyone else.”

“You’re a hunter with a good conscience. Do let me know if there’s anything that’s troubling you, I’d help you. I don’t hate your thirst.”

“I don’t mind if you call me sister-in-law.”

“Please don’t say something so scary.”

Mary muttered that it’s not a joke, the ambitious lady laughed as she headed towards the party venue (hunting ground). Mary cannot help but sigh after looking at her back and then turned to look at Parfait, who was dumbfounded by that interaction.

After Karina called out to Patrick and the other ladies also followed suit, she appeared anxious.

Well, she’s probably afraid that someone would approach Gainas. Well, conversely, Gainas was afraid that Parfait would head for another guy and looked at her worriedly.

Both of them uttered nothing but it’s clear from their faces that they’re respectively thinking “I hope no one comes” and “I hope she doesn’t go for someone else” and there’s probably no one who can butt in between them.

“So, Miss Parfait, what are you going to do? I’ll help you out if there’s someone you’re interested in. Of course, that would include my elder brother…”

Mary said that she would call her elder brother and hurriedly turned behind. Of course, that’s because she thought that the ambitious young lady would grab her shoulder like always.

However, when she turned behind, there was no one there.

Well thinking about it again, it’s because she has already headed for the party venue so there should not be anyone behind her… Mary bowed and said “excuse me.”

“Um, Lady Mary, I… about that…”

“…Well, how about taking a look around my house’s garden? The garden of the Albert family is quite well known, you know?”

“Y-Yes! I’ll do that!”

Parfait’s face brightened at Mary’s suggestion. After that, she purposely said “I’ll go alone!” as though she’s trying to ask Mary to stop teasing or perhaps she’s trying to convey that “she’s not going to find someone”…

Either way, Mary giggled softly and exclaimed “What a troublesome child” and sat down on the chair as she looked at how Parfait walked off cheerfully with Gainas following after her.

Just like that, there’s only Mary and Alicia left.

The comfortable breeze carried over the music from the party venue and their different-colored hair was swaying in it.

“Oh, it seems like you’re having fun.”

“Well, that’s because you look like you’re having fun, Lady Mary.”

“You’ve made many friends at the Eliciana academy, didn’t you?”

Alicia said that as though she’s happy for Mary; Mary’s face blushed ever so slightly and she cleared her throat to brush that away.

After which, she peeked at Alicia, who was sitting beside her. She recalled about her previous life in the game, and felt that it has been quite a while since she has first met Alicia.

Ever since then, things did not go smoothly as well as she thought it’d be… but today, it’s the best day ever. It was as though it was all a lie that she was not hated by her and was about to be led to her demise. Well, why did she work so hard to make sure that the game’s plot would go on accordingly?

While thinking about that, she recalled about the “Dora school” game. In the first place, she thought of the game and previous life as separate matters, and recently she has not been trying to think about that, so her memories have become quite blurry.

Alicia in “Dora school” has a bright sun-like smile that soothes the heart of all the strategy characters and melt their frozen hearts which have been cultivated as part of their noble status.

Thinking about that, Mary let out a soft laughter. She’s probably thinking that the person who’s most affected by that dazzling sun-like smile was none other than herself… she’s not able to express herself honestly about it so she just turned her face away towards the party venue.

Patrick has been invited by several ladies who viewed him as the prince of their hearts. Some of the dancers seemed to have captured the hearts of their crushes from their looks of joy, and now even those who were not at the venue have started to ask their crushes for a dance.

As usual… no, the speed at how all these are uncovering is so fast that it has surpassed that of a normal game’s progress; it’s just too perfect.

Mary thought about it and laughed softly; Alicia, who was sitting next to Mary, grabbed onto her hand.

She was shocked and wondered what happened, but when she turned to face Alicia, she was just filled with smiles. After which, she stood up, and Mary stood up too with confusion.

“What, what’s wrong?”

“Lady Mary, let’s dance!”

Alicia’s smile was so dazzling and Mary widened her eyes as she sighed “you’re making a fuss.” It seems like she wanted to dance like the other ladies too.

Well, she complained that they already have their respective partners so there’s no need to be influenced by that… but Alicia just pulled Mary’s arm tightly.

“Lady Mary, let’s go!”

“Yes, yes, I got it. However, it seems like Patrick’s busy right now, so why don’t you wait a little while for him?”

“What are you talking about? I’m going to dance with you, Lady Mary!”

What do you mean!? Mary raised her voice, but Alicia grabbed onto her arm and headed for the party venue.

As usual, Mary could not hold up against her un-ladylike forcefulness and could only shout “Wait! Let go of me!” as she’s being dragged along.

After that, they entered into the crowded party venue and Addie, who noticed them, headed towards them.

“Lady! Um, please have a dance with me.”

“Mister Addie, you have to wait till I’m done!”

“Till you’re done!?”

Alicia refused Addie’s invitation flatly and continued on without stopping.

Of course, Mary shouted “Don’t refuse on your own!” but that’s not enough to stop Alicia. Or rather, the previous song just ended so Patrick invited Alicia dance, but he was rejected too as she said “Sir Patrick, you too have to wait!”

The two pitiful men were dumbfounded, and Mary, who’s the most pitiful of all, found herself in the middle of the party venue.

Everyone, including those who were dancing elegantly to the music earlier, was surprised and stopped. The lady of the Albert family and the princess were holding hands- well, from the perspective of Mary, her hands were being held, or rather, were forcefully being pulled- and they were standing in the middle of the party venue. Everyone widened their eyes and even the orchestra members were staring at them as they played the music.

Not caring about those stares, Alicia happily grabbed Mary’s hands.

“Well then, Lady Mary, let’s dance!”

“Well the music is starting!”

“W-Wait, don’t pull me and drag me around!”

“Isn’t it fun, Lady Mary?”

Alicia spun around in accordance to the music, and Mary, whose arm was grabbed around by her, could not free herself. It was as though she was dragged by her. It’s definitely not elegant and cannot even be called a dance.

Everyone else was looking at them with wry smiles, while Addie and Patrick looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders.

While it may be quite a scene, it was fun. Well, that could not be described as a dance though with how Mary was dragged around by Alicia who’s spinning round and round. Alicia does not seem like she’s going to stop, and the others could only look at them without interfering. She was desperate not to trip over.

After that, she finally breathed in deeply…

”Please listen to the words of other people! You rural girl!”

She shouted in rage at her marriage announcement party and it was overlapped by the sound of the different-colored bracelets on their wrists knocked onto each other.

Volume 2 Chapter 34

Albert Ke no Reijou wa Botsuraku wo go Shomou desu 74

What Happened After that *Lilianne*

To Lilianne, her biggest blessing would be the fact that she could be reborn into the world of her favorite game. At the same time, her biggest misfortune was that she has been reborn into the world of the sequel of her favorite game.

Lilianne could only recall from her past life how she got lost in the Eliciana academy school grounds on her first day upon enrollment. That was exactly the same scene which was used for the game’s opening animation and she could remember everything about it; it gave her both mixed feelings of happiness and frustration at the same time.

It was too late for her. At that time, her beloved person has already been tied with his lover from the previous series.

He’s the main hero of the previous series and held the most popularity throughout the entire series.

Lilianne fell in love with him in her previous life; she was deeply in love. No, love might not be enough to describe it. She has tried out his route more than ten times and has completely memorized all the choices and lines. She bought all the merchandises and have countless of blue bracelets… She even bought the sequel game just because she heard that Patrick would appear in it.

That was how much she loved him and she loved him only – the word maniac was not enough to describe that, it’s so extreme to the point that her parents and friends were worried for her. In the first place, she herself was unaware of how deep she has fallen in love with a character of another dimension.

That’s precisely why she was frustrated why she’s not Alicia and was reborn as Lilianne instead.

Even so, Lilianne was excited by the fact that Patrick has a few scenes in the sequel, even if it was not that much. It was at the very end of the scene where the producers provided an additional scene; but even so that was enough to make her choose the reverse harem route.

There’s a hope that he might take a look at her for once, since she’s the main character after all…

Ironically, it was Mary Albert who influenced Lilianne to think that way.

The lady of Albert family was the villainess from the previous series, who ought to not exist in this world and should by right fall into the pits of despair no matter what route she chooses; yet she chose to take up an exchange study in Eliciana academy.

That made Lilianne think that “everything might be possible” and at the same time, it made her anxious.

As long as she meets Patrick before he marries the main character of the previous series… to do that, she skipped the events that she thought of unnecessary and chose to prioritize on advancing the reverse harem route at top speed.

Well, thankfully or perhaps not, Lilianne only loved Patrick and does not care about the other characters. Even if the others professed their love for her, she only has Patrick in her mind and it allowed her to be neutral about them and made sure that whatever happened in her situation goes along the story plot.

She has never thought about the risks of making enemies perhaps because she thought that “this is the world of the game after all” or maybe she was too blind of what’s going on with her obsession towards Patrick.

Either way, Lilianne, who has played the reverse harem route for over ten times just for the sake of Patrick, was so used to the route that she thought that “it’s essential for her to skip on building friendship ties with the other female characters.”

Or she was jealous of them just because they were from the same world as him, and she was even jealous of her character, Lilianne, in her past life.

-Someone who loves one character so much that she’s jealous of everyone around him and finds the ladies a threat… that thought does exist among some of the rabid fans. Well, Lilianne in her previous life was like that. In contrast, Karina was fond of all of the characters including Patrick. To Mary, she did not play the game with someone in her mind, instead it seems like she would come up with the answer “there’s no one other than Addie” if she were to rethink deeply about it-

Anyway, that was how Lilianne achieved the reverse harem route.

She bet on the possibility of her hope coming true and not did give up on her love, which was far too late, and tried to depend on her memories from the previous life…

However, what she has achieved… was not a happy ending with Patrick, instead she took the place of the villainess of the previous series, Mary, who’s supposed to be persecuted.

To the dormitory-only school academy in the land of the north.

Perhaps it’s meant to withstand the cold, but the academy was built sturdily to the point that it feels so stuffy just by looking up at it. Not to mention the lessons were weirdly quiet and Lilianne’s legs felt so heavy.

She only has anxiety and regrets in her heart and without realizing it, tears started to well up in her eyes. The coldness plus the fact that no one was around only increased her anxiety, and her bag which was filled to the brim weighed so much that it hurts her arms.

She was only desperate to meet him, whom she loves so much.

She was desperate to make the way-too-late love realize, even if it made her look pathetic…

No matter what was said to her, or how offended the others were, she does not care so long as he smiles at her.

However, what was left for Lilianne were the cold stares by Patrick, who protected Mary Albert, and the one year of memories where she tried to mend things up.

In her past life, she wished so much to be in a world where he exists, however with such an ending, it’s causing her to wonder why did she even recalled the memories from her past life. After all, it was her memories from the past life that drove her to this state where she was expelled to this land.

She suffered and struggled only to face this end…

“In that case, I’d rather not remember anything…”

Lilianne muttered and walked through the gate.

Compared to Eliciana academy, the gate was not as luxurious and there were no security guards; that only increased the sense of loneliness in Lilianne and her vision started to become blurry with tears.

Even so, she has no choice. Or rather, considering what Lilianne has done, she should be thankful that there’s a place where she can be at.

Thinking about that, Lilianne dragged her heavy feet…

“I guess I’m lost again. This is the back gate.”

She was shocked by that voice and turned around; ‘the person who ought not to be there’ was standing that and it caused her to widen her eyes.

That dark brown hair and dark green eyes; that sweet and mature charm-filled demeanor with a slim physique, with the deep voice that strikes the heart…

Lilianne called his name. However, he did not respond to that and nodded his head lightly as he walked towards Lilianne.

“Call me teacher.”

Lilianne gulped quietly and turned her sight away as though to escape when he scolded her with a stern voice.

She remembers hearing that before… no, what she has heard before was the totally opposite in terms of meaning.

That’s the line of Cain where he would say “please do not call me teacher and call my name instead.” It was the phrase that caused her to be treated as not a child, but a lady. However, the words were the opposite right now, and since it’s not his usual friendly phrase which was used in the game, it made her feel the distance even more.

“I heard about everything.”

“It’s difficult for me to believe them, but I heard all about the memories of the game from Lady Mary and Lady Karina.”

He stared at her coldly and Lilianne cowered.

Did he come to blame her after knowing all about the game…? Thinking about that, she’s feeling more pathetic than ever

She was so afraid to even lift her head and check out his expressions. Even though Lilianne knows about it very well, she could not tolerate any more rejections than this.

Even so, Lilianne felt that if she does not say anything, she’s going to break down; she continued to avert her sight as she muttered.

“…T-Teacher… Why are you here…?”

“I’m here to supervise you.”

“I cannot possibly allow a problem-causing child like you to transfer school all alone; you are going to hurt the name of Eliciana academy if you were to do anything here.”

“So teacher, you are also…?”

“Yes. From today on, I’ll be working as a teaching staff here.”

Lilianne lifted her head at the unexpected response.

His face, which used to smile at her softly, looked stern now and his brown eyes were staring straight at Lilianne.

It’s the typical look of how a teacher looks at a mischievous child and it caused tears to roll from Lilianne’s eyes.

“…Teacher, you’ll be here too?”

“That’s right, to look over you.”

Lilianne felt the anxiety and loneliness in her heart lighten up a little.

At the same time, she felt pathetic at how she was unable to notice his charm as a guy before, and was grateful at how he did not abandon her even when the situation has turned out his way.

Rather than struggling to realize a love which was way too late and depending on her past memories which occurred through the screen, she ought to have looked at the reality of this world and accepted him. Those thoughts only made Lilianne’s tears swell and she took a deep breath.

“Teacher… I’m sorry…”

When she apologized, tears flowed down her cheeks as though the tap was open.

She did not look like a frail girl who’s crying to act cute, instead she looked like a mess with snot flowing down her nose and she was wiping her eyes desperately; this caused Cain to smile without realizing.

He then slowly stretched his hand out and… rub… nope, he took out a scarf and handed it to her. A scene where he would rub her cheeks to wipe her tears away and hug her would be plausible if they were in a relationship between that of a strategy character and the main character, but right now they are merely teacher and student.

Lilianne understood that and took the scarf with a pathetic shaky voice as she thanked him.

“Lilianne, if you want to call me Cain again, please do not rely on your previous life’s memory and work hard.”

“…can I call you that again?”

“It depends on you.”

Cain laughed and shrugged his shoulders; he did not show any signs of rejection and this made Lilianne cry even harder.

“Yes… teacher… I will do my best. This time round, I’ll do my best myself…”

Lilianne rubbed her eyes and sniffled while Cain laughed wryly. He decided that it’s time for him to guide the kid who’s bad at directions to the luxurious front gate and carried her heavy-looking bag.

It all depends on Lilianne as to when he will be able to guide her while holding hands.

Something like that happened and a few months later, Mary read the letter addressed to her while rolling around in bed in Addie’s room.

It’s a letter that came from the north lands and it was mixed with both the handwritings of an adult male and that of a feminine lady; both of them wrote about what happened in the academy of that faraway land.

When Mary has finished the preparations to send Lilianne to land of the north, she made it a condition for her to send reports periodically in return to the promise of ensuring her safety. Also, she did the same to the teacher, who said that he’s going along to supervise her.

Of course, it’s part of her responsibility since she’s the one who proposed about the punishment that will be dished out to Lilianne, and also she did not want the reverse harem situation to happen once again in the land which is managed by her relatives.

However, when she read the letter, it seems like there’s nothing for her to worry about. Rather than that, from the letters Lilianne appeared to be having an enjoyable school life and she even sensed how she has turned mellow and it made her smile wryly.

“That’s why I’ve always said that the land of the north is not a bad place.”

Mary smiled wryly as she conveyed that to Lilianne via a letter.

Karina and Lilianne probably thought that the land of the north was a place for losers. However, in actual fact, it’s a popular tourist spot which is known for its migratory birds.

Well it may not be a convenient place to be at, but it has its advantages as an isolated place especially for two people.

“However, it’s unexpected that you are looking after Lady Lilianne’s welfare, my lady.”

Addie said that when he brought in black tea and cake for two; Mary who was lying on her side on his bed, got up and replied “is that so?”

Well, indeed, it cannot be helped it for Addie to find it unexpected. After all, it was Mary who suggested Lilianne’s punishment and even did the preparations to transfer her to the school in the land of the north. However, now, she’s even sending a letter to Lilianne asking “now are you willing to agree with me?” while waiting for her response of agreement, despite all the issues that the latter has caused.

Of course, when the lady of the Albert family, Mary asks someone if they share the same opinion, they probably would not disagree- well some of them might say the following

“Well if Lady Mary says so-”

They would probably look relieved and agree with her…

While some might say the following

“Please do that if you could. I’m busy after all.”

They would then grab the arm of another guy who they are trying to make their new fiancé for a date.

While some might say the following.

“If it’s about Lady Lilianne, I don’t mind that. By the way, Lady Mary, could you please tell me about your brother’s interests, favorite food and ideal female type?”

Some of them would say some nonsense- by the way, in respond to this, Mary would mutter “it’s my first time hearing something like that!”

Some might say the following

“I-I don’t know that person anymore! I don’t know Sir Gainas even more!”

There was someone who puffed her cheeks out while talking about someone even though that person was not mentioned at all.

Everyone has had different responses, but they all agreed to her plan in the end. After all, they’ve become “the lady who abandoned the guy” instead of the “abandoned lady” in the reversal of plot.

Amongst the ladies, Lilianne’s not “the girl who stole their man”, but “the lady who was abandoned by the guy they abandoned”, so they did not really try to make sure that she suffers more.

After all it’s a political marriage where benefits were prioritized over love, and those ladies who have found better conditions have no need to look back the past. In the first place, there were some guys who did not know that and tried to win them over desperately till the end, but it did not matter to Mary.

“But, that teacher chased after Lady Lilianne, right?”

“Will that turn out fine…?”

“Oh, did I not tell you? I told him about the game, you know?”

Addie, who was pouring black tea, let out that exclamation.

However, no matter how shocked he was, he did not spill the drink, as expected of the butler of the Albert family… well he’s no longer a butler now and is the son-in-law of the Albert family though.

“Did he believe you?”

“Well, I talked about it with Lady Karina after all. However, at the beginning when I talked about it alone, he looked at me coldly as though he’s thinking ‘what is this girl talking about?’”

“Well, the lady has a reputation for being weird during the Karelia period after all.”

“That’s right, weird! Speaking of weird, it seems like father had a talk with the academy director before I enrolled in the school.”

“Yes… he said ‘My girl is weird, but as long as her accomplice is not around, she’s relatively docile…’”

“…it’s probably me, the accomplice he’s talking about is probably me.”

Both of them reflected upon themselves. After a while, both of them looked at each other and said “let’s talk about this next time” while brushing it off.

“So that teacher followed Lilianne even after knowing about everything.”

“In that case, the outcome depends on her. However, to think that you have done the preparations for the teacher’s transfer… you are really a good person, my lady!”

Addie emphasized and Mary sensed his intention and purposely said “Of course I’d do that.” with a smile.

She said that with elegance and Addie grinned as though he’s sure of something.

“My lady! Are you still plotting about something this season!?”

“Well, it’s rude of you to say ‘plot’ to a kind lady.”

“I’ll take my words back! You are definitely not someone who would do preparations for others without a reason!”

“You don’t have to say that so clearly!”

Mary muttered ‘verbally abusive husband!’ …although it seems like she has something in her mind as she grinned. It’s different from the lady-like elegant smile she has had before; it was filled with mischief and it was very Mary-like.

She took a sipped of the black tea and continued her words.

“I actually don’t hate Lilianne.”

“Ah, let me make it clear but I don’t like her personality. However, I’ll praise her for her ability to advance the reverse harem route quickly.”

Even though it turned out to be a failure, Mary was impressed by Lilianne’s skills.

She not only managed to go through the most difficult route that does not allow for a single mistake, she even skipped some stages while doing so. If the irregularities like Mary and Karina did not exist, Lilianne would probably achieve the reverse harem ending.

More importantly… Mary looked around as though she finds it hard to say it out loud.

“Furthermore… you know how she has memories of the game… there’s no certainty that things would go according to one’s thoughts, right…?”

“Well, speaking of which, there are people who did not manage to achieve their goals despite not choosing a difficult route or a pressing one right?”

Mary felt a sharp jab in her heart as that’s clearly her.

However, she immediately responded “Well, that’s right”; Addie smiled wryly at Mary and continued the topic.

“So, why did you send Lady Lilianne to the land of the north?”

“Well, she’s not alone in the land of the north.”

“Are you referring to that teacher?”

“He was a wonderful teacher. I went to the exchange school in order to attend his lessons after all.”

“Hmm, so lady’s target was that teacher huh… wait, what!?”

Addie was shocked and raised his voice; Mary enjoyed hearing that so much she could not hide her expressions.

Mary sent Lilianne, who she was impressed by, to the land of the north.

Even though she’s problematic, Mary figured that she’d turn over a new leaf with the supervision of the teacher.

That teacher was in charge of the study that Mary wanted to learn so much about that she went for exchange school… yes he’s in charge of management studies.

As though Addie has read Mary’s mind, he smiled and muttered “lady…”

“Hey Addie, previously, I’ve told you that ‘I’ll make you a sub store manager’ right? About that…”

Mary looked up at Addie with tilted head as though to implore something.

She then smiled… not gently at all as it was filled with mischief.

“You don’t mind being the main store manager, right?”

Addie was speechless at that and sighed loudly.

“Just do whatever you like.”

It took up all his effort to make that frail reply.

Volume 2 Chapter 24

Including “Doradora”, the series of this game have the highest difficulty level for the reverse harem ending.

It has been said that this was made on purpose by the trickster game makers; the plot seems a little too convenient for the main character and they even prepared a wonderful scene where the main character is surrounded by the strategy characters upon successfully clearing the game. Adding on to that, the person who made his appearance at the last part of this story is…

Yes, that’s right, Patrick Dice.

He’s the main hero of the previous series and boasted the highest popularity among all the characters. For the reverse harem route of “Doradora”, he would make a brief appearance, on only one of the artwork at the end.

In order to help up the heroine who has fallen down, Patrick stretched his hand out towards her… though his name is not mentioned in the game and instead was displayed as “. ”. Even so, since the ordinary characters in this game were bestowed vague names like “Male student” or “Teacher”, “. ” seems to suggest that there’s something meaningful behind it.

On top of that, Patrick appeared in the game with the same appearance as in the previous series – blue eyes and hair; although he seemed to have matured a little, but those features remained unchanged and rather it has only increased his charm. The players of the previous series must have noticed that it’s him from the very first sight.

It’s the official way of playing this game; to get a glimpse of this guest character, many players have challenged this route.

“Mary, are you fine?”

Patrick rushed into the middle of the crowd in a hurry and dashed towards Mary. However, Mary only remained taken aback and could not answer Patrick.

Lilianne and Karina could be heard calling Patrick’s name. The scenario was just like the game, however there’s something different, Patrick’s stretching his hand towards Mary.

Lilianne’s aim of playing this game was definitely for Patrick, who would make his appearance at the end of the reverse harem game. However, in reality, he has already entered into a relationship with the female character of the previous work, Alicia, that’s also why many people are in the rush to complete the reverse harem route as they’re still hanging onto the little hope left before they both officially announced their marriage. Karina herself has been trying to avoiding her downfall, as she probably purposely tripped Lilianne so that Patrick would make his appearance on the stage of this game.

What trifling matters-

No, what matters more right now is…

Despite being called by Patrick, Mary remained dumbfounded as she touched her waist area.

She heard something breaking in the pocket of her skirt when she fell onto her back…

She carefully placed her hand into her pocket and rubbed the decorative ball in it to check its condition… she felt a tingling pain which shocked her and made her withdrew her hand. When she checked her index finger, it has a red line through it and blood was oozing out of it. This wound is…

It’s as though it was caused by the shards of something which has shattered into pieces…

When Mary put the pieces together, she felt heat rising in her.

“Mary, what’s wrong? Did something happen?” Patrick looked at her worriedly and right next to him was Parfait, who looked like she’s about to cry… or rather tears were already rolling down her cheeks as she lashed out her pain towards Lilianne. The expressions of bewildered Lilianne and Karina made her confused as “the scenario of the game is the same, but something is different”.

Mary slowly checked the surrounding as she stood up and approached Lilianne.

A light sound reverberated.

“My younger brother would enroll into Eliciana academy starting next year so I’m here in place of my father to greet the board chairman. Also, I thought I might as well have a meal with Mary while I’m here.”

“Is that why you went through all lengths to come to the back of the school building?”

Sitting on a good-quality sofa, Patrick’s talking with a cup of black tea on one hand. Sitting right opposite him was Parfait, who was also holding a teacup of black tea with both hands, as she nodded in reply.

The scene has changed and they are now in the reception room of Eliciana academy from the back of the school building.

After what has happened before, a teacher and the parents of those involved came over, which interrupted the talk and dispersed the group of eavesdropping idiots; only the students who were involved in stirring up the scene were brought to the staffroom.

They decided that Patrick has nothing to do with the event and brought him to the reception room for now, but for unknown reasons, they also brought the bewildered Mary and crying Parfait who was attached to her.

Also, to protect the honor of the academy, the school pleaded “please do not mention this incident to others while we are in the midst of dealing with it…” and they were asked to provide information about the situation. By the way, Parfait was also asked to come along, but she refused with teary red eyes as she insisted to be by Lady Mary’s side.

“But Mary, I didn’t expect someone like you would be able to make friends.”

Patrick looked at her with surprise, and Parfait, whose face was a little reddish before suddenly turned pale when she heard that.

“T-That’s right. It’s weird that the lady of the Albert family would make friends with someone like m-me, right…!”

“Eh! Why did you interpret it that way?”

Tears started welling up in Parfait’s eyes and Patrick hurriedly followed up.

Patrick has encountered many weak ladies – of course that includes “ladies who pretended to be weak”, but it’s the first time he has seen someone who’s this vulnerable. That’s why he looked Parfait and told her straight that “you’ve done pretty well to handle Mary like this huh…”

The contrast between the sight of small cute animal-like lady and the daring Mary was too drastic; while Patrick was thinking of that, Parfait who was looking down on the floor earlier started blushing.

“U-Um, can you please do not stare at me?”

“Eh, ah excuse me.”

“No, I’m the one who ought to be sorry for being rude… however, Sir Patrick, you are too wonderful and if you stare at me, my heart would end up beating fast… ah, but, I’m serious about Sir Gainas… nope, there’s no one who’s named Sir Gainas.”

“I-I don’t understand but I’ll try not to look at you! Therefore, please don’t cry!”

Parfait started shivering as she was reminded of the pain when she made that declaration.

Patrick hurriedly tried to comfort her and she wiped her tears with her sleeves as she peeked at the corner of the room and said “by the way…”

“Um… what happened to Lady Mary…?”

Parfait was unsettled as she stared at the corner filled with gloomy atmosphere which is a contrast to the bright room. It’s so gloomy that it’s unbefitting to the image of the elegant Eliciana academy where nobles are enrolled in.

That’s supposed to be the case, but Mary was crouching down against the wall and emitting a loser-like aura which does not fit her status as the lady of the Albert family.

“I… I, Mary Albert, took action towards a trifle lady who’s filled with lust… how pathetic of me; I hate how pathetic I am…”

She muttered in regrets.

The teachers who were apologizing to Patrick pretended she’s not there, and Parfait finally brought up the topic.

Patrick, who was asked, just gave a glance and then looked at the black tea in his hand.

“She’s not fine, but there’s nothing that can be done. We can only leave her alone.”

Parfait widened her eyes at that easygoing attitude.

Isn’t the treatment too much for “the tragic lady who has fond feelings for you and yet considerately places a distance between you two”? Patrick did not notice Parfait’s gaze and sat down on the sofa as if he did the right thing. He did not comfort Mary, or even try to pat her shoulders.

“If the need arises, I’ll bring along someone who can cure her, so you don’t have to worry that much.”

“Someone who can cure her?”

“Yes, to my knowledge, there’s only one person who can handle Mary very well.”

Patrick snickered as though he’s having fun, and Mary who heard his words glared at him with hate.

That sight of their interaction does not depict the rumours of “devoted prince and tragic lady”. ”Thinking about it carefully, isn’t this all your fault…?” Mary even muttered with hatred.

Question marks started appearing above Parfait’s head at this as she looked at their interactions.

“By the way, Mary, why don’t we have dinner?”

“You are sure nonchalant by the sight of me to even invite me out so cheerfully. I plan to drown myself in self-hate and depression for a few hours, so just go ahead.”

“I received a ‘list of delicious croquette stores’ from Addie though.”

“Well then, let’s go.”

Mary’s attitude suddenly changed and she stood up. Patrick was unsurprised by that switch and nodded “well then” before standing up too.

Just like that, both of them were about to head out of the room when they turned back to look at Parfait, who’s still sitting on the sofa.

“Lady Parfait, are you not coming along too?”

“It’s a nice opportunity so let’s go together. Even if you stay here, it doesn’t seem like there’d be anything interesting that’s going to happen anymore.”

The eldest son of the Dice family who’s said to be the future prince, and the lady of the Albert family who holds great power despite being from the neighbouring country, both of them are also nobles but their ranks are so high through the roof; they invited her and said “let’s go together” in unison…

Parfait blinked several times at this shining scene and nodded back in response.

Mary said that “she thinks of nothing about Patrick” in response to the rumour. Indeed, from their interactions, it’s clear there’s no romance involved. However, rather than “thinks of nothing”, both of them are clearly alike… Parfait thought about that and stood up in a hurry when Mary prompted her to go.

“I’ve heard of you before, Sir Patrick. It’s a great honour to be able to meet you in person and have a meal together.”

“Hm? Ah, thank you, Lady Parfait.”

“Eeek! L-Like I said, please don’t look at me! Plus, with that smile, I’m…! My heart has already decided on Sir Gainas… no- he doesn’t exist, Sir Gainas doesn’t…”

“Why are you crying… you really cry a lot…”

“Oh, Patrick, you’re wrong. This kid doesn’t cry a lot, she laughs sometimes.”

“Oh, it’s her usual state to cry huh.”

While continuing such conversation, the three of them headed out of the reception room.

Volume 2 Chapter 19

Mary was taken aback and she finally called out his name; after his name was being called, Addie slowly walked towards her.

“I-I think there are a lot of things we should talk over about but… um, for now, is it fine if I hug you?”

He then widened his arms and sought for permission.

It’s not the mood for that, so Mary and Alicia were both surprised and looked at each other when they heard his declaration. After that, Alicia could not stop enjoying it and she smiled from ear to ear; in contrast Mary’s face turned red and she stood up from the chair.

The fallen chair made a thud sound and Mary was taken aback. In the first place, it was clear that she’s not in the right mind by how red her face has become.

“W-What are you talking about?1 Where do you think we’re now!? It’s the royal castle! There are people watching so please act properly!”

“It’s fine, Lady Mary! They have cleared the people away and right now I’m just enjoying the view of this beautiful garden!”

Alicia moved the chair and looked behind.

Furthermore she even said she’s “enjoying the view of the garden and she’s not looking at anything else”. That roundabout way of speaking made Mary feel even more embarrassed as she was about to shout “it’s not about that!”… However she was suddenly hugged tightly and that made her swallow her words back,

Her heart’s pounding.

The hands were pressing against her back as though he would not allow her to escape, and at that moment, she felt something hot running through the core of her body.

The arms which were wrapped around her, and his chest which was pressed against her, the places where they were in contact made her realize once again that Addie’s a man and the fact that she has no way to escape made her body temperature rise. Her heart thumped hard but at the same time felt a sweet numb sensation throughout her body..

It’s as though I’m going to melt… she whispered and her breath itself felt hot.

She’s embarrassed and nervous.

The hands on her back were hot and her entire body was hot.

There’s no calmness in her heart and it’s stifling to be the point of being painful. She could hear Addie’s heartbeat and it overlapped her own heartbeat and the sound of which echoed in her.

There’s completely no space between them and each and single breath could probably be heard that she’s hesitant to even breathe; it’s as though she’d forget how to breathe.

While being nervous like that, she felt, at the same time, a sense of happiness. Being in Addie’s embrace created a sweet numb sensation that’s irresistible and she felt like she’s going to melt.

Mary enjoyed sweet sensation before she separated from Addie and placed a distance between them. It was a small distance, but she missed his touch already and looked up at him… she gulped.

His face was even closer than it was when she was hugged by him… or rather he’s making it closer.

As though to lead her, his slightly narrowed red eyes seemed a little erotic and it made Mary’s heartbeat even faster to the point of limit.

“A-Addie… isn’t it a little too fast?”

“What are you talking about? We’re already husband and wife.”

“Eh, that’s right… that’s right. However, as expected there ought to be order in things.”

Mary tried to convince Addie, but he hugged her strongly in response.

“How long do you plan to keep me waiting for?”

“How long… how long have you been waiting?”

Addie’s eyes were fixed on Mary, and she felt the flush of her cheeks as she spoke incoherently. The sound of her heartbeat was too noisy and she does not really know what she has just said. Of course, in such a situation, she could not think of how long he has waited.

However, her body was too hot and her heart was thumping too hard that it’s painful.

What was he expecting? What was he waiting for after the hug…? Of course it’s not as if she does not get it. Even though she has distanced herself from romance, it’s not like she has no idea about it. However, even if she knows about it, she’s not prepared for it.

That’s why, she asked as though to buy herself some time, and Addie narrowed his eyes as though he’s thinking about all this time.

“Well, I don’t know myself too.”

“What’s with that… it’s not a proper answer?”

“Well, it’s too far back to the point that I cannot remember it after all, I’ve only been looking at you, milady. It’s funny isn’t it, I’ve only loved you in my life even though I’m of this age. You are my first love.”

He smiled wryly and honestly confessed which made Mary’s cheeks even redder than ever… she tried to say something but she held her tongue.

He has always been beside her and that’s how long he has been waiting for her. He has waited and waited, and finally he got to hug her now. He’s waited for her for so long so that’s why he’s impatient… when Mary started to think about that, Addie placed his hand on her cheek,

When he rubbed the end of her eye, she felt an electrifying pain running through her, that’s how much she has cried.

“I’m sorry for confessing to you after marrying you… the order is all messed up and I apologize for that.”

“…I was really surprised.”

She was about to blame him for that, but when she looked at him, his wry smile entered into her vision.

It’s as though he’s troubled, as though he’s about to cry, even so it looked like he’s happy. That confusing expression’s a little erotic and cool and more than anything it was lovable. Mary felt as though her heart was tightening and Addie must have noticed her gaze as he cleared his throat shyly and put on a serious look before staring at Mary again.

“I promise to be by your side forever. I’ll only think of you more than anyone else. That’s why please do not just be my lady… please be my wife too.”

Addie requested and looked at her with serious looks as though he would not take no as an answer.

Mary felt as though she’s going to melt with those intense glares and she muttered and closed her eyes as an answer.

She could not think of any verbal words to answer. She don’t know how she should answer, after all she has lived all her life thinking that romance’s impossible for her, that’s why she just closed her eyes and looked up towards him as though to tell him that it’s her answer.

She could feel Addie’s hand, which was on her cheeks, twitching.

Ah, so you are nervous too… Mary muttered that quietly in her heart when she felt a soft sensation on her lips.

When she realized that, her heart thumped loudly and she felt good.

She has been touched by Addie multiple times before and they have held hands together. However, their interaction now as a male and female, was unexpectedly sweet and it numbed Mary’s entire body.

It was like a dream.

She felt the strength leaving her body and the sweet joy numbed her; she slowly left Addie’s lips.

Hah… both of them let out hot breaths.

After that, they both looked at each other and Addie once again opened his mouth.

“I’ve always loved you. From now on too, I’ll love you forever.”

Those words made her unbelievably happy.

The sensation deep in her heart spread through her entire body and Mary felt dizzy. After that, she felt the heat and replied.

“Me too… it seems that I’ve always loved you.”

Addie narrowed his eyes in bliss.

After that, both of them affirmed their love for each other and Addie once again leaned his face slowly towards her.

Oh, one more time? Mary thought silently.

However, thinking about the sweet sensation earlier, there’s no reason to refuse and Mary closed her eyes again.

She once again felt that soft sensation.

It was as though she’s floating and all the places she’s been touched were hot and felt good.

At times, the angles were changed and as though to confirm the love, Mary was drunk in the sweet kiss… the slow and yet deepening exchange of lips made her eyebrows twitch.

It’s somehow different from the earlier kiss…

It’s definitely sweet and felt good, but it was kind of hot compared to before. Or rather, perhaps they have proceeded too far…

After that, as though to have a deeper kiss, Addie’s tongue slowly entered into Mary’s mouth…

Mary said that and immediately separated from Addie before wriggling a fist into the side of Addie’s stomach.

With a groan, Addie pressed onto the side of his stomach and fell.

“I’m sorry, I went too far…”

“The next time you go too far, I’m going to place a close distance restraint order on you and have us exchange diaries through father!”

“No way… I don’t think I’ll be able to stand it for a month….”

Addie apologized with a groan and miserable sound and Mary clicked her tongue.

She was swept away by the mood, but still they’re in the royal castle. Also, Alicia’s nearby… well she’s facing them with her back and closing her ears though.

“L-Lady Alicia. You can look over here,”

She coughed to cover the awkward atmosphere and called out to Alicia.

Alicia covered her ears in consideration and noticed her voice.

“It’s fine, Lady Mary. It’s a perfect chance so you two should spend more time…”

She exclaimed happily as she turned behind before shrieking.

“Eek! What happened to Sir Addie!?”

“Well then, we’re going back…. I’m really sorry for dropping by at a time like this.”

Alicia smiled and shook her head and Mary returned with a shy smile.

Even so, this is the royal castle and she has dropped by without prior announcement. She decided to come back another day to apologize to the king and queen, and thank the security personnel who has called for Alicia… when Mary was thinking of that, Addie, who was standing beside her, muttered that he too has to thank Sir Patrick.

After hearing about the details, it seems like a few hours before Addie was having a meal with the head of the Albert family and the priest when they received the news from the royal castle.

He totally thought that Mary’s in her own room, and even checked her out in front of her door repeatedly. He called out to her occasionally and was hurt at how she did not respond to him, but to think that the room was empty… he was shocked when he heard the news.

-Regarding this matter, Mary said nonchalantly that she could leave the room other than through the door. In response, Addie said that he knows there’s the window and storage space above the closet. However, why did the lady, who’s crying in pain with her love woes, think about leaving the room through the windows or the storage space above the closet…

When he received the news, he immediately headed to the royal castle to fetch her but he was hesitant for a bit. It might be a little miserable to talk about it, but he has lived his entire life as a servant to the Albert family; even if he has married into the Albert family, he thought that his status would not change. Therefore, he could not leave his seat when he’s having a meal with the head of the household and people of equal status.

At that point of time, it was no one other than Patrick who gave him the push.

“Why are you standing here? That Lady Mary, the Lady Mary who was once my fiancée chose you! Don’t show such a miserable state!”

He spoke like Mary and when Addie heard it, he felt like the shackles on him has loosened and he bowed before leaving the room in a hurry and rode a horse wagon here.

After hearing the story, Mary widened her eyes in surprise.

“You came here by horse wagon?”

“Yes. I drank alcohol after all.”

“Did you not feel nauseous in the horse wagon?”

“It seems like I’m fine since I’m drunk… also there’s no time for me to feel nauseous.”

Addie laughed shyly and Mary once again felt her cheeks reddening.

If this happened in the past, she would just act nonchalantly, however now that she has noticed his and her own feelings, every single bit of it seemed to have melted into her heart. However, right now, she could not enjoy that- because there are people around them watching. Furthermore, it’s not just Alicia- she decided to brush it off and said “the power of alcohol is great.”

“Sir Addie, if Sir Patrick was still around, could you please send my regards to him as well.”

“Yes, I got it- understood, Lady Alicia.”

“It hurts me when you behave so distantly like this…”

“Of course it’s difficult to act like how I usually do in the royal castle. Please understand.”

Alicia and Addie’s interaction was so fun that it made Mary laugh.

Right after that, she took Alicia’s hand and thanked her sincerely “Thanks, Lady Alicia.”

”I’m glad I came to you. I’ll also thank Patrick and tell him how well you have treated me…”

Alicia smiled happily as her hand was grabbed tightly upon.

Alicia then said that there’s another message she’d like to deliver, and Mary told her with a gentle smile that she could do so.

“Please pass the message ‘Good night, Sir Patrick’.”

“Yes, I’ll make sure to deliver the message.”

“And also, and also ‘I love you.’ too.”

“Yes yes, I’ll deliver the message.”

“Also, please pass the message that ‘As expected Sir Patrick is wonderful’ ‘I love the kind Sir Patrick’ too!”

Also, also, with a red cheek, Alicia passed on her messages to her lover and Mary did not stop smiling as she said coldly.

“Well then let’s go back.”

There’s no more count left. It’s a very Mary-like way to deal with it.

The Daughter of the Albert House Wishes for Ruin 10-6

TN: Surprisingly I got a lot of holiday in my current schedule, so I’m going to try to post the rest of volume 1 (4 more chaps) within next week because I fear I won’t have any holiday again for the rest of the month. Please enjoy.

The meeting that began again at a slow pace because everyone was gauging the situation, started to become chaotic again after a while.

In the first place, the situation wouldn’t be resolved just because Mary and the other joined in. Although Alicia or Patrick regained their calmness somewhat, it didn’t mean that it would lead to a decision.

That’s why Mary sent a questioning gaze at her mother, because she didn’t understand the reason she was brought here. Sitting beside her husband and watching the chaotic parliament, nothing could be felt from her dignified form. However…to come here meant there must be something.

Because she was the lady of the Albert House, she should know how important this meeting was, and how sinful it was to interrupt it.

Don’t tell me, does mother really…

Mary started to worry again, as the meeting started to discuss about the originality of the seal.

Why Alicia have the seal, and whether the seal was the real thing. At the end of the discussion, the decision was that Alicia stole the seal and was trying to become part of the royal family…. Mary was confused on how it became like that.

It was an astounding story from the start, but the parliament was as incoherent as the story was.

However, Mary couldn’t say a thing despite listening to the decision. As expected, she couldn’t say, “It is real in the game!”

In the situation where Mary couldn’t do a thing, Carrel’s beautiful voice, “If I may”, echoed in the room.

Naturally, everyone sent her a look, as was Mary and Addie.

Her dignified appearance was beautiful, it didn’t pale even when compared to this parliament room. Mary still felt uneasy despite how noble Carrel’s figure cut in this room.

She remembered the only one still image of the game.

That sepia scenery, when baby Alicia was kidnapped.

If the fortune-teller who kidnapped Alicia was blood-relative…

And mother was trying to confess about it…

The more she thought about it, the more Mary’s unease grew.

She didn’t know what her mother was thinking, if the criminal who went against the Royal Family was someone from Albert House and they hid the truth until now, it wouldn’t only be a downfall for them. It would be a family trip to the prison for treason.

“Why she hold the royal seal, and whether the seal is real. Please let me explain. Because…”

“Wa, wait, mother, calm dow…”

“That day, it was I who put the seal inside the young Princess’s cloth. “

The crowd went crazy at Carrel’s confession. It seemed she didn’t even tell her husband, because unlike his usual self, he stared wide-eyed at his wife who sat beside him.

But that reaction couldn’t be helped. Because the confession held too much impact.

The Princess-kidnapping case, and at the same time, the missing royal seal. To think the one who held all the truth was the wife of the noble family who was second only to the royal family, to not be surprised was impossible.

“I always find that fortune-teller suspicious. Maybe because I’m a mother who have a young daughter as well, I could feel the hatred in the gaze directed at the Princess.”

“After I became aware of it, I’m afraid something will happen to the Princess, I was constantly watching over that fortune-teller. And that day…”

According to Carrel, after a long time that fortune-teller finally made a move.

So she tried to protect the young Princess, but she fell to the fortune-teller’s trick, and as the result, the Princess was kidnapped. That one still image.

In that time, the thought she should at least hold something to prove her identity, the conclusion was the seal.

“I know the danger that come with holding the royal seal. But still, to think at least there will be a chance for parent and child to meet again…”

Carrel casted down her eyes as she confessed.

She knew how painful it was for the Queen to lose the Princess because she had a daughter who was the same age, that’s why she took such a bold action when one usually hesitated.

As expected of a mother’s intuition.

But no matter her position as an Albert, everything wouldn’t be resolved with just her testimony.

Several people tried to doubt the truth of the story and the Congress fell into another chaos.

And that very moment…

“Her story is true.”

The door was opened vigorously.

Everyone was stunned, and in a hurry bowed down to the person who appeared from the door.

Her soft golden hair swayed as she looked around the Parliament Room. A beautiful but loveable woman who has both warmth and nobility in her manner.

The Queen, and the King who stood beside her, also expressed a word of apology saying, “I’m sorry to be late”, with a dignified yet quiet grace.

As a matter of fact, they were people who reigns at the top of this country.

More noble and exalted than anyone.

Mary, surprised as she was, began to compare the Queen and Alicia with wide-eyes.

Identical. Just like twin. It was at the level where one should normally realize the similarity. It wouldn’t be unbelievable if one said Alicia was the young copy of the Queen.

To be honest, where had the King’s gene gone? Couldn’t they give her some of his gene….

“….My Lady, My Lady! “

“What’s wrong, you’re spacing out.”

Perhaps to return to conciousness, Mary blinked several times at Addie’s hand as he waved it in front of her.

It seemed her brain short-circuited because of the shock at the development, when she realized, both the King and Queen already sat down.

“….I was running away from reality.”

“How unfair, if you’re running away, please bring me too.”

“Ee, you’re right. Next time I will ask. Please come with me as well in escaping reality.”

And by exchanging jokes like that, her cool-headedness returned.

Now was not the time to dwell on Alicia and the Queen’s similarity. Rather, their similarity should be increasing the credibility of Alicia being a princess.

And if they looked closer, she looked like the King as well. Like the corner of their eyes, or…their gesture….if you looked at them from far away….no, this was definitely not a flattery or lip service.

“My Lady, are you running away from reality again? “

“E, ee…it’s nothing…”

As she responded to Addie’s voice, her consciousness returned again.

Then turning over to the problem before her eyes in panic, both the King, Queen and Alicia looked at each other and approached step by step timidly.

Their breathtaking look was just like parents and child, and the moment when Alicia and Queen ‘s hair swayed roughly at the same time…

The Daughter or Albert’s House Wishes for Ruin 10-3

In the first place, why a princess like Alicia was raised in the countryside, the reason dated back to ten something years ago, when Mary and Alicia weren’t born yet.

At that time, fortune telling was popular among the nobility. And the noblewomen would have fun at tea party by inviting famous fortune-teller.

However, it was only to the extent of making a dress with color for love luck or decorating the mansion with animal stucco of good compatibility. That’s the amount of money spent in it. Being a fortune-teller sometimes meant collaborating with a designer behind the scenes to make a trend.

Simply put, it was a child`s play. Of course everyone involved understand it, but the point was to make a topic at tea party and for the base of creating luxurious party. The credibility of the fortune-telling itself was secondary.

But, some people got deeply engrossed with it, to the point of calling the fortune-teller as teacher and chasing after them despite being nobility. There was even people who confided all their house`s information and based their judgement on the fortune-telling.

At that time, the young Queen, Alicia`s real mother, was also into fortune-telling. However, she kept a moderate distance with the fortune-teller.

To invite fortune-teller to perform in a tea party, and reward them if the fortune was correct. The topic was also inconsequential matter like romance, health or the weather forecast for the next tea party. There was no information of the royal family at all.

Despite being a Queen at young age, she had good sense.

But the fortune-teller she invited was not.

I am the Royal Family`s favorite fortune-teller, the peaceful dynasty is because of the fortune I told, without any shame, he bragged around about it.

Selling their name by doing those, all the noble came to them saying “Please tell our fortune too” and gave them a lot of money. There was nothing more amusing than nobles who purposely come to greet and lower their head to a fortune-teller they meet once.

And that fortune-teller was the one who announced “I just met with the Queen.”

“From today, for three days and three nights, receive the King’s love. By doing so, you will be blessed by a splendid son.”

However, it was common sense that it was possible to have children if a healthy men and women of of those age sleep together for three days and three nights. Without fortune-telling, everyone knows that.

But the Queen was overjoyed when she heard that. And even before the fortune was proven true, she gave a generous reward to the fortune-teller.

This was also promoting the fortune-teller status, but she didn’t realize the effect on her surrounding.

Because she was still young, and she loved her husband from the bottom of her heart despite it being a political marriage. It was a chance to monopolize the husband who she couldn’t meet because he was busy with diplomatic matter. And if a child was born from that chance, there would be no more happiness than that.

The retainers, who know the Queen’s feeling and the King who deal with diplomatic matter without a single protest for the sake of the country, despite the fact that both of them always want to be close to each other, left them to be a normal couple for three days and three nights. If a male heir was born as a result, there was nothing more desirable than that.

And with that, for three days, both of them moved to the King’s villa. As the fortune told, they were blessed with a child.

However, the child was a female, Alicia.

Nevertheless, no one was disappointed. The King and the Queen were rejoicing over the birth of the princess. The retainer who wished for male heir were satisfied with the fact that the Queen’s body is suitable for giving birth, also celebrated the birth of the princess who looked like her mother.

Everyone in the country rejoiced over the princess’s birth, and celebratory gifts came from inside and outside the country.

Only one person, the one who foretold the fortune.

Despite not being accused nor blamed over the incorrect fortune. While it was true that the foretold male heir was not born, because of the fortune, the Queen was able to conceive. Both the King and Queen also gave their gratitude.

But only the fortune-teller couldn’t come to term with this result.

Why is my result wrong when I’m the royal fortune-teller, is there something interfering with me, only one thing comes to mind…

The conceited fortune-teller thought of Alicia as the source of their wrong result with resentment, and toward the sleeping baby…

“They kidnap her, is that it?”

“Yes. They brought the kidnapped princess into a faraway orphanage and until now she is still deemed missing… This is the truth of the missing princess.”

At Mary’s explanation, Addie nodded in understanding.

Currently they were in Albert’s house kitchen. A place where the maid and attendant cooked and had their meal, the so-called employee cafeteria.

To have Mary, the daughter of their employer, sat there was weird but being comfortable with the hustle and bustle of the place, Mary was often found in the kitchen.

What’s more, with the general hectic and indifference, this place make it perfect to talk about stories you don’t want other to hear.

…nevertheless, when it was too busy, “Mary-sama, please peel this! ” she was often stuck with vegetables as well.

“But, why Alicia have the seal?” “

“There were people who find the fortune-teller’s movement suspicious and snuck the seal into Alicia’s baby clothes. What an achievement. Even in the game they have one still image for the scene…but…”

“My Lady, what’s wrong?” “

Addie peered curiously at Mary who stopped speaking.

In DoraGaku, the scene about Alicia’s past were drawn in sepia tone for the atmosphere.

The young Queen who is the spitting image of present-Alicia, the lamentably-uncapturable-target handsome King, and the fortune-teller who was drawn in silhouettes to avoid suspicion.

And then, after a few interactions, the screen switches to a still picture of the incident’s night.

Under the sepia tone, a baby with unknown hair and eye color and who was thought to be Alicia, was being embraced by a lone woman. In the woman’s hand was the Royal seal, before she hid it in Alicia’s baby clothes.

And in the next scene, another new person appeared. Under the sepia tone and unknown face because the game only show the person’s back, the person with magnificent drill-like vertical roll took the baby from the woman and then disappear…

It was the outline of Princess kidnapping-case, which was drawn in several stages of painting.

Addie who heard the story twitched.

”A magnificent drill-like vertical roll…”

”Yes, that, that was a drill-like vertical roll.”

”…With silver color? “

”With sepia color. I don’t know that much.”

”But when I looked up into the ancestry, there were no fortune-teller with vertical roll in our family.”

Calm down, Mary told him, and Addie patted his chest in relief.

In DoraGaku, vertical roll pointed directly to Mary. Of course, at that time Mary was still a baby so she couldn’t possibly plan the kidnapping.

Mary’s mother had the same silver color as her daughter, but her hair was in soft waves, and despite investigating the distant relative in their ancestry, no one aside from depicted-in-only-one-scene fortune teller (and Mary) had such vertical roll.

With the scene overwashed with sepia, no one could know the hair color. For all they know, it might be a color other than silver.

Besides, the baby was kidnapped in the process, the recollection scene was over and the relationship between the fortune teller and Mary was not told at all.

It was certainly the production team intention to strengthen Mary’s image as a villain, or perhaps there was someone with vertical-roll-fetish in the team. Or, the illustrator were into drawing vertical-roll.

That was Mary’s conclusion.

And that’s why she could nonchalantly drink tea when the academy was closed because of the matter of Alicia.

If the criminal of princess-kidnapping incident was a relative, surely, she couldn’t be this calm.

What she wanted is the downfall scene just like the game.

In the end of the game, Albert’s house did fall to ruin, but Mary’s parent who appeared in the fan disc was still a noble. They apologized to Alicia and pledged loyalty to the Royal Family.

They were drawn less wealthy, but they still wore a tailored outfit. Of course, there was no appearance of Mary.

In other words, the extent of the downfall she hoped for was ‘only Mary who was exiled to the North’. She didn’t hope for downfall because of the crime of kidnapping the princess.

To begin with, if she hoped for a downfall that would kick her down the cliff, she wouldn’t do something like throwing sarcasm at Alicia. She could beat Alicia and that would be the end of it.

That’s why it’s hard to know the allowable line…, Mary sighed, and Addie sighed as well, as if timing them to coincide.

”I guess, the palace is in uproar now. Poor Alicia-chan… Aren’t you going to help, My Lady? “

”Why do I have to go. Difficult or not, that is not my problem.”

Hmph, with a displeased look elsewhere, she took a sip of her tea.

Addie sighed at the nonchalant attitude, but he also took the cup of tea and sipped it.

”Even though you always walk around with the bracelet from Alicia-chan.”

With just that one sentence, Mary who still had tea in her mouth, gave a muffled “Guh,” but still managed to swallow down the tea without choking.

As expected of the daughter of Albert House. No matter if it’s within the mansion, or the employee cafeteria, the sight of a duke’s daughter spurting out tea was something her pride wouldn’t allow. …she did coughed loudly though.

”Whuh, whah, why do you know it! “

”How many years do you think I have served you? I can tell you have something in your pocket with just a glance.”

”We…well, as expected of my attendant. To know that much, but don’t say it to anyone else, please.”

”I understand…I won’t say anything to anyone starting tomorrow. “

”Already too late! Who did you talk to! “

Addie gave out Alicia and Patrick’s name as if it’s natural to the crying Mary.

Of course, it was the two person she didn’t want to know the most. In the noisy cafeteria, Mary’s scream reverberate.

It was impossible to throw it away, but it was not easy to leave it at home, but she could not wear it… at the end of the struggle, she always carried the bracelet around in her pocket as if to hide it.

Naturally it was not something to be said to Alicia or Patrick, although she tried to not let it appear as a conversation topic, to think it was already known… With heat suffusing her cheeks because of embarassment, Mary glared at Addie while trying to divert the conversation.

As usual, he was a servant who understand his master well and betrayed her splendidly. When Mary said, “Traitor!” full of resentment, his eyes widened.

”I’m a traitor! ? That kind of! I did it because I’m My Lady’s ally.”

”Yes, yes, by ally, you meant as Alicia’s Support Team Squad Leader, right.”

”I am Alicia-chan Support Team President! “

”That’s what being a traitor is! …wait, are you being promoted ? “

This successful person! And so, Mary threw out abuse and complaint until the day after tomorrow while Addie smiled as if in satisfaction.

For a while, there will be no more altruism– Although I feel that cleaning up this treachery act in one word of “there is no more altruism” is problematic— debate was continuing, Bang! Went the cafeteria’s door.

There was a beautiful woman with silver and glittering wavy hair, with a reigning imposing pose that didn’t match her beauty, looking around inside the room.

And she found the person she’s searching for,

”Mary, we are going to the Royal Palace! Prepare yourselves! “

The voice that carried on despite the bustling kitchen…

TN: I have problem with understanding the Mary-Addie debate so please excuse me if it’s confusing you as well.

Volume 2 Chapter 22

Mary stared at Lilianne as she tried to figure out the latter’s thoughts, but the idiots around her started making a stir.

The strategy target characters surrounded Lilianne and they started to declare their break-up with their fiancées one after another. Just like the event of the game, it was so smooth to the point that one would question if they have planned the order beforehand, the ladies who received the break-up declarations started turning pale.

Some of them even compared their fiancées with Lilianne, and hearing this made Mary furrow her eyebrows. It’s terrible enough for them to break up with their fiancées because of their own selfishness, but to add on to that, they even blamed the ladies for it.

‘If you’re going to do that too, I’m not going to forgive you!’ Mary glared at Gainas, and it seems like he has sensed that intention as he suddenly shivered and hurriedly looked around his surroundings. However, right after that, he immediately apologized to Parfait and bowed; compared to the others, he was quite decent.

After the final guy declared his break-up, Lilianne, while surrounded by the guys, gave a sorry look and stepped forward.

-It was just a “sorry look” and it certainly wasn’t an impressive acting she’s showing there. Those who did not know about the situation would probably think that Lilianne’s the victim-

“Everyone, I’m sorry. However… I think this is true love.”

Lilianne spoke the exact same phrases which appeared in the game; Mary was surprised by how quickly things were settled as she thought “Well, this is the end, I guess.”

Her lines were the final ending of this event. The theme of “true love” which she spoke of could only be readily accepted by the rival characters who admitted their defeat. The phrases of the main character who built up the reverse harem game are after all made for the sake of the game’s player Lilianne.

The way it was settled so selfishly made some of the rival characters raise their voices of criticism, but in the first place, the reverse harem route itself was just a game made by the developers. Even if they were to receive criticisms… these were just the thoughts of the players.

After the end of the game, the main character would just leave the scene…

While recollections of the previous life (game) appeared in Mary’s mind, she heard the unsettling laughter of Karina.

She looked at her and the latter has a terrifying beautiful smile on her face, and she’s glaring at Lilianne without fear.

It’s clear from her expression that she has no intention to admit defeat.

“Oh, how wonderful ‘true love’ is- Hey, everyone shares the same thoughts, right?”

Karina sought agreements from her fellow mates behind her, and she appeared exactly like a villain. Even though she’s on the execution ground, her bold laughter and appearance reveals that she has a trump card hidden under her sleeves.

“No, isn’t she a little cool…”

Mary was impressed and as though the ladies have learned from Karina, they showed the same smiles. They were pale and looked like they’re in pain earlier, but it all switched so quickly. If that were all an act, they must be rather impressive actresses.

…Among them, there’s one girl who’s still crying and trembling. In the eyes of Mary, she reminds her of an abandoned dog; like a lamb that was mixed in a group of dogs baring their fangs.

Anyway, putting aside that trembling lamb (Parfait), the ladies reveal a bold smile one after another and started their revenge against the guys who abandoned them.

“It seems like you’ve not noticed, but I’ve already talked about the marriage abandonment matters to your family members; father… your father, apologized to me, and decided to have me marry your siblings instead. Once the talks have been settled, it seems like they’d consider changing the inheritance plan.”

The female student smiled as she declared that, the guy who heard what she has said suddenly turned pale. That sight made Mary recall the list of nobles.

If she’s not wrong, that guy’s family has multiple sons and she have had heard of the intense inheritance fight for the position of the head. Since he’s the eldest son, he’d be chosen to take over under normal conditions, but his age difference with his younger brother was about one or two years, so it shouldn’t be much a problem if they were to change the succession candidate.

In other words, since he had rejected the fiancée his parents have decided for him and chose to go for the commoner lady in the reverse harem route, it’s as though he has declared to his parents that he have decided to drop out of the fight for the succession inheritance.

Well, it might be a tough circumstance, but it’s not her matters- in fact he IS a stranger to her, regardless of who would succeed the top position of his family, it would not affect the Albert family at all- while she muttered that, as though they were passing baton from one to another, the ladies stepped forward in turns.

“Do you remember? I agreed to the marriage proposal under the promise of giving birth to an heir; since this could not be done, there’s no choice but to give up on the idea of marriage. However, since we would not marry each other, I’d enter your family as a foster daughter and marry someone else.”

Of course after hearing these, that guy, too, had his face turn pale and he even raised his voice.

“Oh, of course it’d natural for your parents to accept me as their foster daughter since their only son has no interest of succeeding the family. Father and mother were both happy about it and welcomed me. Ah, by the way, they were rather furious at how you would not continue the lineage in the future.”

“Oh, you have no interest in me anymore right? Lady Lilianne’s more charming after all, and she’s gentle and warm. Didn’t you say that? Also, I have to search for a partner so that I can give birth to a healthy heir so I don’t have time to deal with you anymore.”

Saying that nonchalantly, the female student looked extremely happy as she wondered “Who would be the best choice”; of course, that does not include her fiancé- ex-fiancé.

However, this is also not a rare story. This is the opposite of the previous story where siblings fight for the head position; in this case, the family only has a son and they need a daughter-in-law for the sake of a healthy heir, however their son’s only concerned about the reverse harem and this leaves them no choice but to cut him off.

The guy then looked at her and quietly muttered “if it’s about the heir, then Lilianne would…” but she would not look at him and treated him as a pathetic being. In the first place, even if Lilianne was willing to give birth for him, he’d have to wait in the line alongside with other guys, and his parents definitely do not have the time to wait for that.

Well in that case, the parents would normally adopt a second son or third son from their relatives or a close family, but it’d be troublesome and they probably decided to welcome the girl who was abandoned by their stupid son as their foster daughter to carry the lineage for them. It’s quite a gamble, but it allows them to maintain their reputation.

Well was there even true concern involved in it? There probably aren’t. However, this is very much like how the nobles normally behave.

In the end, the lady who was abandoned decided to take over the guy’s family household which ranked higher than her family. Chasing away their eldest son and fostering a daughter to take over the family… Mary was truly impressed by that and that’s when another female student stood in front.

Some declared that their families would have their ties broken along with the marriage abandonment; some even mentioned that the male’s family members clung onto them and they even had to initiate the marriage abandonment themselves. In the middle of which, some mentioned that they already have another fiancé who’s even more prominent than the guy himself. The guys could only freeze on the spot like idiots.

After all, these are political marriages; in other words, it’s not something that only involves the bride and groom-to-be, but also their families and the ties between them. If they were to screw things up, it’d even change the rank order of their family in the nobility world. The idiots started showing flustered expressions; it might be a fear that results from the potential change in the family succession and breaking of ties between families.

In the middle of which, Mary, the lady from the all-powerful Albert family, looked at Karina with an impressed look as she muttered “how cool and villain-like…” –the Albert family would not be affected even if the succession of the other families changed neither would its position change if the ties between two families were broken.

As though she’s the final boss, Karina showed a bold smile as she listened to the words of her comrades. Mary was thoroughly impressed by her villainess. She had a daunting posture and Mary wanted to imitate her by standing with her legs apart.

Speaking of which, it’s not surprising that Karina was the one who initiated the attack from the ladies side.

After all, political marriages do not concern love at all; it’s something that benefits both parties. Therefore, if one party were to receive damage from it, they’d have enough power to retaliate with the lost benefit.

If there were love involved in it, there’d only be betrayal and a sad ending.

If there were no love in it, there’s no need to be forgiving.

The prides of these ladies who have been abandoned by their fiancés for “someone of the reverse harem” must have received quite a big blow; this has sparked off some fiery emotions- and some even carried the ambition to take over their families- ruthlessly.

It’s not realistic for these ladies to soak their pillows with tears after being abandoned or grumble and wait for the day when their fiancés would regret.

Even Parfait, seems to have enough anger to stand in the middle of such scene. While thinking of that, Mary looked at Parfait, and that trembling lady took a step forward… no, half a step… she took half a step forward. It might be a small step, but considering her personality and this current situation, she has have mustered quite a terrible amount of courage which’s pretty praise-worthy-

While Parfait received the attention of her surroundings, she looked up towards Gainas.

After that, as though she has made her decision, she grabbed onto the hems of her skirt and raised her voice
“me too!” A slight shock would be seen in Gainas’ eyes.

“M-Me too! Sir Gainas, I-I-I don’t care about you at all!”

Parfait’s declaration made everyone froze on the spot.

The Daughter of the Albert House Wishes for Ruin 10-2

Translator’s note: Well, it seems like the translation are in hiatus so I just picked it up because I want to read it as well… This is my first time translating so please excuse the stiff and weird sentence.

“Good day, you seems to be suffering quite a bit. How disgraceful. Your attitude is bringing shame to Carelia Academy.”

Alicia turned to face the familiar voice.

In an instant, her expression brightened with happiness. She looked as if ‘My friend is coming to save me!’ while Mary, who delivered the speech full with sarcasm, instinctively let out a small groan at the response. As usual, there was no wound on Alicia’ high mental power, meanwhile Mary’s heart felt like broken. Do I have to resort to physical abuse…

But with a ‘Well, I’ll think about physical attack later’, Mary ignored the problem and faced Alicia.

–That kind of attitude was also one of the factors why the situation doesn’t go according to the game, but it was something that Mary didn’t notice. Because her basic attitude was to ignore and deal with troublesome things later, it’s hard to change her personality–

And this time too, ignoring her fruitless attempt at sarcasm, she continued to ask, “Without thinking of other’s convenience, why are you monopolizing the service window?” Alicia looked at the envelope in her hand with lowered eyebrow and faced Mary and Addie with puzzled look.

“I was going to hand over the procedural documents, but they said it needs to be sealed…”

What Alicia showed while speaking was a candle and seal.()

Looking at the familiar item, Mary tilted her head, “And?” while as usual Alicia looked around awkwardly at their surrounding and shook the seal lightly. Mary widened her eyes at the childish and idiotic action.

What are you trying to do by shaking it?!

Will something come out if you shake it?!

What is she trying to do… Mary and Addie exchange glances to search for answer. And Addie, who come to realization, clapped his hand with a pon.

“I see, Alicia-chan doesn’t have the custom for seal-wax, huh?”

“Seal…wax? Oh, I see!”

Finally coming to a realization, Alicia’s expression brightened.

Just like the word, seal-waxing was to dribble candle wax onto a paper and press a seal to close it. By pressing on the engraved imprint of the family crest, it was possible to recognize the sender by the seal and to prevent opening by the third party.

Although that way of sealing was for a security measure and prevention of information leakage, many used it for the sake of appearance. Especially, to nobles who are concerned with their family’s name, a seal wax that represent their image was still a mainstream item.

Mary who was raised in that world and Alicia who rarely send a letter to begin with. It can’t be helped when there was a perception gap between the two of them.

“I see, so I have to seal it with this, right. But, how do I do that? “

“What, you don’t even know such a simple thing? Ignorance is really a shameful thing. Seal-waxing is just slosh, squish and bam, you know.”

“My Lady, even onomatopoeia have their limit.”

Question marks popped even more on Alicia’s head after Mary’s advice.

Addie who understand her bewilderment, shrugged his shoulder and reached out his hand toward the candle and seal in Alicia’s hand to help…

“Well, why don’t you stamp it with your own seal? “

only to stop at Mary’s word.

Under the wondering eyes of Addie and Alicia, Mary let out a grin.

“Mary-sama, I don’t have my own seal.”

“Oh, you should have it. A splendid seal engraved with family crest.”

“I’m an orphan so a family crest is…”

Feeling shy to talk about her personal history, Alicia hesitatingly explained. But despite that, Mary still emphasize, “You have it.”

Her expression held neither disdain nor sarcasm over Alicia’s origin, on the contrary it was even saying a confirmation.

Anyone could clearly see that Alicia had no seals.

It was a method mainly used within nobility and those who placed importance on their social status. Moreover, her bewilderment when she was given the tools and even trying to use it by shaking the seal.

Everyone who saw that could judge that Alicia had no seal.

But Mary was sure.

Because she knew.

‘Alicia has seals. Her crest…the real family crest should be engraved’.

In the later part of DoraGaku, it was an event to enter the story final phase.

It was the only thing Alicia had when she was entrusted to the orphanage. On the contrary, when the official investigates the crest, she turned out to be the missing princess.

In the game, it was not Mary who triggered the event but in this case, it couldn’t be helped. Besides, it wasn’t going according to the game so far.

–And saying it didn’t go according to game was already pushing it–

The point was that Alicia should be determined to be a royal family. And if that fact was discovered because of Mary, wouldn’t the irony be better than the game.

Alicia tilted her head curiously at Mary who smiled so confidently.

And after staring at Mary and the seal with wonder, with an “Ah! ” Alicia seemed to remember something and rummaged through her bag.

And took out a small pouch. The pouch made from cloth looked worn out, but instead of being embarassed by it, she spoke of it happily, “Auntie made it for me,” and the thing she pulled out from the bag was…

“Alicia-chan, that is…”

“This is something I had on me when I was left on the orphanage. I always bring it with me as a protective charm, but this is a seal, right.”

With a happy smile, Alicia stroke the seal in her hand gently.

On the other hand, Addie gave a puzzled look because he knew Alicia’s real identity. If she was the princess, the seal would be engraved with royal seal, and that could be the start of the Albert’s family downfall.

And there was the Secretariat officer who didn’t know anything, and probably didn’t even have any idea, only glanced over them before returning to work.

With an expression that said, ‘Your own seal or school seal, whatever, just be done with it.’

“Uhm, just slosh, and then squish it… and bam, right.”

While repeating what Mary said, Alicia gingerly dripped the candle wax onto the envelope. Plop…the dripping red wax fell slowly and made a clump as if to harden the envelope.

And aiming at it, she pressed the seal gently. The seal sunk gently into the wax, and when she pulled it, the wax was clearly engraved with pattern.

The people in this country would never mistake it, it was the pattern that can only be used by royalty.

Staring at the seal-wax, Alicia tilted her head.

But, before she came to realization, the officer peered out from the window.

“Oh, Yes! I’m sorry for the wait! “

The previous question was blown off by the officer who couldn’t read the atmopshere, and Alicia raised her gaze from the envelope and handed it over with carefree voice, just like a child who wanted to show off her drawing.

The envelope engraved with Moon and Sun pattern. The people in this country, and especially an officer in Carelia Academy would recognize it, the Royal Family pattern.

The face of the officer when she saw the envelope, and when she sent the Secretariat Office into a panic, only Mary alone who calmly said,

Volume 2 Chapter 28

Albert Ke no Reijou wa Botsuraku wo go Shomou desu 68

On that day, things are getting busy in the Albert family’s mansion.

Of course, it’s because the daughter of the family, Mary, will be holding a party to announce her marriage; some came because they received the invitation cards and some even came without any invitation card as they’re keen to have a peek at her marriage partner. As a result, there are a lot of people who came, which surpassed their expectations.

Of course, that would mean that they have to prepare the decorations, settings, foods and alcohol to accommodate for that. The preparations for that has become rather hectic, even though all staffs of the Albert family is working on it and to add on to that, those who have retired have especially come back on this day from a faraway location. That’s not all, other families, who’re close to them like the Dice family members, and even the royal family sent their help; it seems like they have exhausted all their resources.

In the middle of which, Addie has no idea where he should go to, as he wandered around while hoping that he’d not to be a nuisance; in the end he arrived at the cafeteria for the staffs.

Normally, this place is reserved for the use of staffs, but today, it has been used as a temporary cooking area. Unfamiliar chefs were lining up their luxurious dishes, which does not fit the image of the cafeteria, on the dining table. The servers were frantically trying to carry the dishes, while there were some disgruntle about the lack of ingredients.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that this depicts a scene from the war; Addie seemed to have sensed the scale of the party as he began to turn pale and was about to backed off when… he noticed a maid who was stretching and trying to reach for a bottle from the top of the shelf.

At this dangerous sight, he called her name and instinctively dashed towards her.

“Wait, I’ll get it.”

“Is it this bottle?”

“Sorry about that, can you fetch the bottle in the back as well?”

The small-statured maid was desperately trying to reach for that, but for Addie, he can reach the bottle at ease just by straightening his back. Even so, even though the maid has a small stature, she can reach it as well with the aid of a ladder or a chair. “How lazy of you” he joked as he lifted down the bottles one by one, as instructed.

Right after that, he has lifted down almost half of the bottles on the shelf, the maid swallowed her saliva and raised her voice “Ah, what have I done!”

“What have I done to a member of the Albert family?!”

“…eek, you’re blatantly feigning ignorance”

“P-Please forgive me…!”

Even though the maid has been dishing out instructions “take this too, take that too” earlier, she suddenly pretended to thought of something and lowered her status. The people surrounding her joined the fun and joked “please forgive her!”

Although he was dumbfounded by the blatant behaviors, these proved that they have not changed and Addie snickered; the others also laughed.

“What, Addie, you should put on airs more.”

“Ah, that’s right. I’ll do better next time.”

They exchanged such conversations.

They would not have behaved like this towards the members of the Albert family, but Addie was happy about that and was even grateful for that.

After that, they had random talks like usual, but slowly one after another returned to their positions. Some of them seemed to recall the duty they have as they frantically dashed off, some were even reprimanded by their superiors as they apologized and ran back.

Looking at their backs as they busily moved around, he felt bad and the maid who had him take the bottles slapped his back as said “you’re the main character for today, so be firm!” This made him straightened his curved backbone in a hurry.

After that, Addie was finally alone, and he looked around the inside of the cafeteria where the fights never eased; he sighed softly…

“Um, since when did you start shelling peas over there, my lady?”

He looked at the lady of the Albert family, who’s endlessly shelling peas in one of the corners of the cafeteria.

“Oh, the play is over already? Aren’t you having a second round of it?”

“I’m busy myself too.”

Mary announced that she’s working properly as she threw the peas into the basket.

There are three of those “unshelled peas” baskets placed by her side and it’s clear that she has been there for quite a while… Addie thought of that as he approached her when one chef walked past him.

Right after that he said “I’m taking them” and took the baskets filled with beans before walking away. Of course, he left the empty baskets behind…

“My lady, since when have you been here…?”

“I’m enjoying myself today far more than I thought I would.”

Instead of replying him, Mary muttered those words; Addie was about to sit down on the seat opposite of her and his hand on the chair shook when he heard that.

Mary was being honest and said that she’s enjoying herself, although it might be a little too late to think about this, he’s happy about that.

“Yes, I’m surprised myself too that I woke up early today, also…”

It seems like Mary has woken up rather early today, which surprised herself too.

When she looked outside the windows, the sun was starting to rise and it’s not a weird timing for her to go back to sleep again once or twice.

She went back to bed again, put on her blankets and closed her eyes… when she was shocked by herself “Oh no!”

She could not sleep.

Her sleepiness just went away in a minute, and she could not fall back to sleep again.

Adding on to that, she could somehow hear her inner voice speaking to her “Today’s the day.” She felt irritated at the thought of being in the bed.

Isn’t this what kids feel on days when they plan to go out and play… she thought about that but was unable to suppress those restless feelings. She made excuses like “it’s so noisy that I woke up” and “it’s because I slept early last night” and got off the bed. Of course, being Mary Albert, she could not bring herself to admit that she’s so excited about the marriage ceremony to the point of waking up early like a kid.

However, the people in the mansion were too busy to listen to her excuses; nobody greeted Mary and instead told her things like “I’ll being black tea to you later!” and “I’ll play with you later!”

Just like that, she wandered around the mansion and found herself here in the cafeteria.

It might sound like a sad story since the lady of the Albert family is also the main character of the party today, and yet she could not find the right place and settled down in the corner of the cafeteria. However, Mary’s father and brothers were busy dishing out instructions here and there, while her mother’s occupied with the tea preparations to call out to her.

Even though she tried to use the time to prepare, her dress has already been ready and it’s still early for her to do her hairstyle. If she goes out, she might accidentally chance upon those people who cannot wait to find out more about her marriage partner which she has hidden all this while. Still, she cannot stand being cooped up in her room.

Right then, the maid who chanced upon Mary called out to her and asked

“Lady Mary! Would you like to shell the peas if you’re bored?”

“Leave it to me!” replied Mary.

“In other words, you could not find a place to settle down at and ended up shelling peas here, right?”

“Well, I understand how busy they could be since the party today is of a big-scale. However, the attitudes of those who slighted me displeased me… also, I’ve noted down the names and faces of those who said they’d play with me in my ‘to-be-fired’ list.”

“You’ve totally not put the ‘to-be-fired’ list to execution, eh?“

“Yes, after all, your name is listed right on top of it.”

While having such random conversations, Mary was skillfully shelling the peas; Addie sighed as he also reached out the peas himself.

In the end, Addie too, arrived here because he had nothing better to do.

“By the way, my lady, you seemed to be kind of used to this.”

“Since when do you think I’ve been doing this? I’m different from the likes of you who only help out once in a while.”

“That’s not something to be proud of… well but”

Addie laughed boldly and stood up.

She thought that he’s going to somewhere else, but he came back with a knife and a basket filled with vegetables. He held them properly and quickly peeled them with the knife.

Mary was impressed by his skills and raised her voice “Oh wow.”

“You are quite skilled. It’s clear that you’re meant for this path.”

“That’s because I’ve been asked to help out a lot in the past. I can not only peel vegetables, but also do gardening.”

“Well, that’s not something to be proud of.”

She dished her revenge and they both laughed out loud.

Right after that, they had casual conversations as they completed their tasks, when the door of the cafeteria opened with a great force.

“Lady Mary! Congratulations!”

A bright voice reverberated throughout the cafeteria, despite it being a war-like field. Of course, it’s Alicia.

Her yellow dress was adorned with golden laces and her hair accessory was silver in color; adding on to that, her personality was so bright that she appeared blinding like the sun… well though in the eyes of Mary, the brightness was too harsh that she spew words like “the noisy one has come” even on that day.

“Nice day, Lady Alicia, why are you here at such an early time? I wonder if the sense of timing is different in the countryside.”

“Hehehe, I’m so happy about the party of Lady Mary and Sir Addie that I came over too early!”

“Ugh… I-Is that so? Well, they say that morning is early in the countryside, right?”

Mary flinched at Alicia’s statement for a moment, but she rebuked as usual.

However, her red cheeks were evident to anyone, and Addie sighed as he said “you’ve not changed at all.”

“Lady Mary and Sir Addie, what are you all doing?”

Both of them looked down at their hands.

One of them had peas while the other had vegetables in their hands, Alicia looked at what they’re looking at and realized what’s going on; she then said “I’ll do it too!” with excitement.

“Eh, Alicia! That’s…!”

“Sir Addie, who do you think I’m! I’m the princess who grew up in the countryside! I’m used to shelling peas and peeling vegetables!”

Alicia announced that with pride as she sat down beside Mary.

Right after that, she got down to the job. It’s clear that she’s skilled that both Mary and Addie widened their eyes and looked at each other.

“That’s nothing to be proud of, right?”

“That’s nothing to be proud of.”

Both of them muttered and Alicia reprimanded them “Both of you are not working now!”

Right after that, the three of them did the preparations for quite a while before the door opened with great force again.

Standing right there was a young man with handsome features. He was well groomed like a prince from the fairytale… if he was not scorning.

Adding on to that-

“Why are you in such a place…?”

He growled as he walked towards them and that just adds on to the disappointment.

Well, despite his look of scorn, he’s very handsome that most of the girls would become a slave to him at first sight. Right now, he’s looking at Alicia, who has already become a slave to him, Mary, who’s receiving his looks like nonchalant, and Addie.

“Oh, Patrick. Did you wake up early too?”

Mary did her morning greetings elegantly with peas in one hand; Patrick’s face wrinkled up even more.

“I thought that I’d not be able to speak to you guys once the party has started so I came early to greet you guys.”

“Well, thank you for that.”

“By the way, I’ve searched all around the mansion and salon but you guys were not there. I thought you guys might be having tea so I even went to the corners of the gardens to search for you guys…!”

Why are you guys here instead… Patrick’s shoulders were slumped.

Indeed, it’s normal for him to be disappointed. After all, in what world would the noble family couple be helping out with the preparations in the staff-only cafeteria, in the early morning of their own marriage party? Even so, since his love, who’s the princess of the country, was also there, he did not unleash his fury totally.

“So, what are you guys doing?”

It seems like the reality was too much for Patrick to bear as he pressed onto his forehead and asked with a sigh. The three of them looked at each other simultaneously.

They then replied in order.

“I’m peeling the vegetables.”

“I was able to do both well!”

They replied nonchalantly, and it seems like Patrick has reached the limits of his patience.

“Please stop doing that and start preparing for yourselves!”

His voice of anger echoed through the cafeteria.

The Daughter of the Albert House Wishes for Ruin 10-4

TN: I’m sorry for the late post. I wanted to post a chapter every week to catch up with web novel but my job doesn’t give me much time to do anything else. I hope you enjoy this post and I’ll try to be more consistent in posting.

Mary’s mother, the lady of the Albert House, Carrel, didn’t have to say hurry. Without any explanation nor time to change clothes, once they realized, they were already in the carriage.

This overbearing pressure, as expected of the lady of Albert’s house. The rumour about once there were strong rivals in love who checked each other with sidelong glance, but in a flash one of them approached the next head of Albert House and won the fight was probably true. Everyone who heard the story at that time, could only said, “It was brilliant.”

Although she acted as a proper good wife and mother only after her marriage to the Albert family, but her coercive ability was still going strong. Glancing back between that mother and the horse carriage in front of her, Mary peered at her mother’s face.

“Umm… Mother, I can come with my own carriage.”

“Oh my, what are you talking about, Mary. We are in a hurry so climb in.”

See, with a push on her back, Mary climbed into the carriage with resignation.

And she reluctantly sat on the seat facing the back of the carriage. In other words, the lower seat.

“Oh my, Mary, why are you sitting there? “

“Mother, we are in a hurry, right. For now, let’s depart.”

Be quick, this time it’s Mary who urge her mother.

Carrel could not help getting into the carriage, but with a strange look, she still sat down at the place where Mary would normally have to sit. Feeling out of place when facing her daughter, unconsciously she tilted her head, her hair wavy hair softly sway.

The last one to enter was Addie. He came in like a proper attendant, with an “Excuse me,” and apologetic expression, before sitting beside Carrel.

Carrel’s eyes widened this time because she really didn’t get the meaning of this action.

Mary and Addie, both of them should understand the meaning between the lower and upper seat.

But somehow, the two of them sat in reverse. Mary acted as if it was a normal thing, gazing out of the window while enjoying the wind. Meanwhile, Addie was looking outside the window with an apologetic expression. His expression was drawn and he looked pale.

What is this about…she looked at both of them as the carriage sways. Mary, who noticed her gaze, said, “Please don’t mind it, mother.”

“Addie has motion-sickness. To the point he will faint if he sit facing the opposite direction.”

“Apologies, Madam! I know this is rude, but no matter what, the reverse seat….only the reverse seat… “

Perhaps imagining it was bad as well, as Addie paled even further while apologizing…and then returned to tiredly leaning on the window. It seemed the motion-sickness was real.

Her daughter who understand his affliction and sat on the lower seat while thinking about Carrel’s position as the mother. Carrel gazed at Mary who seemed to have no care and looking at the scenery.

“…If Mary is fine with it, then so do I. And you are feeling fine? “

“Yes, I feel fine. I can even read dictionary while at it.”

“That’s because My Lady’s semicircular canal is being protected by those alloy drills…”

“However, the scenery from that side seems better. Addie, change place with me.”

“I’m sorry, I will shut up, anything but that. At least, on the horse or the roof is better…”

“I don’t want to ride a carriage with a human plastered into its roof. Look, all that talking is making it worse. Just look outside.”

Carrel could only look in astonishment at both of them as Mary ended the conversation with a “Honestly.” And then, understanding the situation, her red eyes crinkled as she smiled.

When her daughters went out, they always departed several hours earlier than the scheduled time, but still there was no big difference in arrival time. Whenever it was questioned, Mary always answered with an atypical “I was enjoying the scenery,” and dodge further question.

In the first place, it was weird when Mary, who didn’t have materialistic desire like any other noble daughter, wanted her personal carriage. “One horse carriage is enough!”, was what she said whenever other people bragged, but whenever there was a need, she always took her own carriage.

And all of those was what made her different from other noble daughter… I see, so it was for this, Carrel smiled slightly at them but both Mary and Addie didn’t notice.

When they arrived at the Royal Palace, everything was in chaos. The severity of that chaos was to the point that no one welcomed their arrival despite being visited by the Albert House.

And if they looked closely, there were people who rarely come to the Royal Palace. Even scholars. All of them were distinguished people, which was proving the current situation was a big deal to that extent.

“This is dreadful…”

“Well, it can’t be helped, they found the missing Princess, after all.”

This level of confusion was something that never happened before, without thinking Mary and Addie stood around as well. A maid came running toward the two of them in hurry.

Only giving a light bow to the lady of Albert House was something impossible to imagine in the Royal Palace.

Even so, Carrel took control of the situation. She looked around, caught and questioned a nearby maid, before pulling Mary by hand.

“Mother, what is it? If you have business, why bring me too…”

“Honestly, what a contrary daughter, you should help when your friend is in trouble.”

“Of course it’s Alicia-chan. Besides, my lady doesn’t have any other friend.”

“Addie, remember this when we’re going back with the carriage! “

Mary yelled at Addie as given and he screamed back in defeat when the horse carriage was mentioned. Against that, Carrel chided “Hey, no bullying! ” like a mother would, still, it was something so out of place as a noble.

With liveliness and speed that didn’t befit the image of someone from Albert House, they continued to rush into the busy Royal Palace.

However, no one had time to pay attention inside the chaos. They didn’t seem to realize that Mary was there at all. People who talked whatever they want, those who irritatedly clicked their tongue, and those who yelled at the maids, asking when the King will return.

But it couldn’t be helped in this confusing situation.

Because she lamented over the loss of her first child, the Queen didn’t bear any more children. Not because they didn’t love each other anymore, but the shock from losing their beloved daughter made it difficult for them, despite the vassals’ insistence for the birth of an heir.

With both of them gave up on having children despite the insistence of their surrounding, some relatives with blood connection with royalty made secret manoeuvres when the circumstances permit, some even tried to send concunbines for the King. There was even a protest to abolish the monarchy.

While they pretended to be in peace, the inside were swirling with each person’s desire. In that situation, Alicia appeared.

A girl with a legitimate royal blood. And since the girl was close with first son of Dias House, some even considered this good match as a miracle.

Of course while there were people who are happy, there were those who are not. Especially for those who were aiming at the next chair of the king and actively moved in the background, it would be throwing salt to the sea.

And to top it all, both King and Queen were away on diplomatic business, there was no one who could make a decision and settle the situation.

Without no one to clear the confusion, it got more befuddled as time goes on.

With everyone hiding their desire inside their chest, they probe each other intention inside the chaos.

The Royal Palace was the one with the highest concentration of chaos.

Inside the room filled with royalty, prime minister, and people who hold authority in the country, Alicia sat in the midst of it all.

Parliament meeting room, or so it was called, had heavy door and was being guarded by security on both sides to prohibit entrance. Even when the they didn’t know the situation inside, the atmosphere was heavy with pressure.

Mary and Addie stood before that door with pale face.

“Mo… mother… are you perhaps…”

“Madam…please be careful.”

With a ‘No way’ inside their mind, they watched as Carrel stood dignifiedly in front of that door.

However, even if she is the lady of the Albert House, no, it’s precisely because she is the lady of the Albert House, she should be aware of the heavy atmosphere drifting from the room.

Actually, some of the noble were glancing at them from some time before, but they definitely won’t come closer. They were interested with what’s happening inside but they know they would be crushed by the pressure if they enter.

Who were inside, and who were spreading this heavy atmosphere. Just by thinking that, Mary felt her stomach twist, and hesitated to even touch the door.

“Mother, even if we stand here, the meeting isn’t over yet. Let’s have some tea somewhere.”

“T, that’s right, Madam. Standing around will tire you, how about we borrow a room and rest.”

Hey, hey, Mary and Addie desperately tried to appeal to her, but as usual Carrel raised herself to her full height, without responding to her daughter or even raising an eyebrow, stared at the door…

and knock on it.

And so, Mary and Addie’s idiotic voice echoed in the red-carpeted corridor.

Volume 2 Chapter 33

“Are you really, really sure that there isn’t any more sequel or fan disc!?”

“I’m really, really sure that there aren’t any!”

Addie interrogated Mary, who replied in annoyance.

Earlier, after the dance with Alicia – well it cannot really be called dance from Mary’s perspective, Alicia looked contented and pulled the tired Mary to the garden where Addie was waiting for her.

It seems that for some reason, this servant… um husband of her, was really bothered about whether there’s a sequel to the game even in this party.

Also, it seems like he’s fairly bothered about it.

Mary sighed at Addie and called out to Karina, who’s nearby.

“Hey, the ‘Dora school’ series ended with just two series, right?”

“Yes, I think that’s the case.”

“See, she said that too, didn’t she?”

Mary insisted, but Addie seemed to be discontented somewhere and nodded while saying ‘I got it.’ However, doubts could be seen all over his face and Mary sighed softly.

“Hey, Addie, what’s up? Didn’t you say that you don’t care about the game?”

“In that case, what are you displeased about?”

“If it’s going to increase any further than this, I won’t be able to withstand it!”

Addie muttered as though he’s giving up on himself; Mary widened her eyes and was about to ask him what’s going to increase when…

“Lady Mary! Let’s dance for another song again!”

Alicia suddenly jumped onto her and grabbed her right arm.

“Um, Lady Mary, m-me too… if you don’t mind, would you please dance with me…?”

Parfait looked up with worried eyes and took her left arm; Mary could only swallow her words.

Addie’s red eyes seem to be conveying “You asked what it is about? It’s about this.” His cold stare made Mary sigh as she thought that she has to convince him.

She then looked at Alicia and Parfait who were pulling her.

“Um, in the first place, this is a party to announce the marriage between Addie and I.”

“Lady Mary! Look, there’s an empty spot in the middle!”

“Like I say, please listen to the words of others! Patrick! Where’s Patrick!? Please take away this child!”

“Lady Mary… a-as expected I-I’m…!”

“You too, it’s not the time for you to invite me, right?!”

Mary scolded the both of them and started searching for their guardians – which are of course Patrick and Gainas. However, the former is making memories for the other ladies, and when he noticed Mary’s stare from afar, he mouthed ‘sorry.’ The latter, shook his head from side to side in silence as though saying ‘it’s impossible for me.’

Mary sighed deeply at how the guardians were unreliable, and she decided to say something to the two people who’s holding onto both her arms… but she was forcefully being dragged away before that.

Before she could voice out something, her body was wrapped by strong arms and her forehead bumped onto… someone. She was hugged by someone tightly, and when she realized that, both of them released her arms at the same time.

“No! The lady is going to dance with me!”

Well, that way of speech coming from above her head definitely did not sound smart, and was rather unrefined for an invitation to a dance.

However, that Addie-like invitation made Mary smile softly and she wrapped her arms which are now free around his back. She grabbed onto his jacket as though to plead him to hug tighter and rubbed her body against him on purpose.

“I’m sorry to the both of you.”

She said that to Alicia and Parfait before looking up to the person who’s hugging her.

Addie’s cheeks were so red as he looked at her, his lust-filled red eyes had the ends of Mary’s lips curl up. How easy it is to read his sweet desire of dominance.

“Even if I’m the Mary Albert, I would not be able to reject with your passionate invitation.”

She giggled and placed her hand over his outstretched hand.

Addie took her hand and led her to the party venue.

They slowly walked to the center and murmurs with wry smiles ‘finally’ could be heard from the surrounding. Indeed, in normal cases, they should be the first ones to dance, but they had a late appearance. In addition, there was the case with Alicia earlier which made everyone dumbfounded and they could only shrug their shoulders. The orchestra members smiled at them wryly as though to say that they’re finally here after waiting for a while and flipped the music sheets.

Going along with the slow-paced music, Mary leaned against Addie and his sulk made her laugh softly.

“Addie, are you still sulking?”

“…I wanted to be your first dance.”

“The dance with that kid, Alicia, wasn’t official. It was only another ‘I’m going to play with Mary Albert event’.”

“What’s right? I want to join in too.”

They had their conversations like they always did, which is kind of out of place in a marriage party like this, as they leaned against each other. They faced each other and giggled. From the bystander’s point of view, it was like a piece of art where two people in love were spending time together like a dream, that is if they did not hear the content of the conversation.

-In the first place, most of the people in the venue have already known that Mary and Addie has a good relationship way beyond what most ordinary masters and servants have, so each time they smiled at each other with joy, they probably sensed ‘well they probably had a conversation that’s not lady-like or servant-like.’

In the middle of that, Mary tightly grabbed onto Addie’s hand.

His hand was larger than hers and very manly. When he grabbed onto her hand before, it hurt her heart so much, but right now her heart’s melting and becoming numb at the sensation of their fingers interlocking each other.

”Hey, my lady, do you remember who is your first dance partner?”

“First? Hmm, I wonder if it’s my dance teacher… Or perhaps my elder brother?”

“No, it’s me. When you were hardly able to walk around properly, you danced with me while matching the music.”

Addie asked if Mary remember the past and laughed happily; in return Mary widened her eyes and replied ‘is that so?’

From how he said ‘when she was hardly able to walk around properly’, it must be quite a while back, before she can even recognize things. Of course, at that time, Mary probably does not know what a dance was, and of course has not attended parties yet. It must be at some other places where she took hold of Addie’s hand and tried some dancing with clumsy footsteps.

While imaging that scene, Mary let out a small laughter.

“No wonder, I found it boring to dance with everyone else. I mean, I’ve danced with the best partner for my first dance after all.”

When she was invited and led to a perfect dance by Patrick, who has captured everyone’s hearts, in the middle of a grand party venue, she did not find it so fun that it lifted her mood. She even thought that her emotional faculties might have been broken.

Even so, right now, she felt the climax of bliss. The hands were warm and she felt her own body heating up just by leaning onto his. She’s so exhilarated that it made her drowsy and her heart was beating fast. She thought that there’s no other blissful moment than this.

When she started to recognize this feeling, she suddenly felt sorry for having Patrick all to herself in the past. In order to enjoy this pleasure that everyone else’s feeling, she has always waited for Patrick’s invitation.

Mary softly laughed and looked up at Addie.

His rust-colored eyes were looking back at her and his same-colored hair was swaying. This scene was so grand especially with the background music. He gently smiled at her and it melted her heart as the sense of bliss wrapped around her body.

Ah, dance is such a wonderful thing…! She has totally forgotten about all the complaints she has made before about how ‘everyone sure loves something so boring.’ Mary leaned against Addie’s chest as though to leave herself all to him.

“Hey, let’s dance together from now on during the parties.”

“Yes, that’s of course.”

“Escort me, alright?”

“Yes, I’ll definitely do that.”

“Let’s be together forever.”

“My space is right beside you.”

“My space is right beside you too.”

Mary laughed and narrowed her eyes before stretching…

He stepped onto her foot lightly and she blinked her eyes which were closing.

“I guess we probably need more practice in dancing.”

Addie looked sorry and Mary laughed at him teasingly. In return, she lightly stepped onto his feet and used it to lift herself up to kiss him.

This «science teacher» is just spitting BS, they don’t know anything, including this «to the past» shit. Also it would technically not be to the past but another doomed reality, if this theory spouting science teacher was right.

oh man, I, too, wont say no to a billion yen

I love how the very concept of «confirming information» is foreign to people of that world.
