Server status for honor

JC from the Fight Team here. It’s that time of the season again and we’re back with yet another Testing Grounds! They will be open from July 1st to July 8th.

We’re doing something a bit different this time – we’re trying both Hero changes as well as system-level changes in the form of Option Select changes.

The changes we’re covering in this Testing Grounds are:

Raider’s changes are mostly about making the hero more consistent as well as more efficient. We’re improving the 1v1 potential of the hero while also making sure their Zone Attacks are better.

Orochi’s changes aim to improve the performance in 1v1 situations as well as in group fights, where the hero is currently struggling.

Shinobi received quite large changes which should redefine how the hero plays. Shinobi should now be more focused on close-range combat and ganking, with the moveset centering around landing as many Sickle Rains as possible.

Finally, we’re testing tech that should see the majority of Option Selects to be removed from the game entirely.

Keep reading below for more details on the changes you can expect coming to Raider, Orochi, Shinobi, and Option Selects. You can also tune in to tomorrows Warrior’s Den where Stefan and myself will be going through all the changes.

Before getting to the Testing Grounds details, we would like to address some errors in the roadmap shown in our previous Warrior’s Den. Covenant Games should be starting a week earlier, right after Testing Grounds, on July 8th and ending on July 15th. Also, the Dominion Series Stage 2 Major will begin on August 28th. This is great news for participants as they will have one extra month to prepare.

Raider Changes

Storming Tap

Developer’s comment: Storming Tap had a few efficiency problems, most notably it was reactable by many players, even though it had variable timing. We’ve adjusted this so that it always comes out at the same timing as Feints, sped it up so it is more reliable, and made it not interrupted when blocked so that Raider can pressure opponents better.

Uninterruptible Stance Timings

Developer’s comment: This should still let Raider use Heavy Attacks to trade with opponents, but should no longer be at timings where players could take a hit, feint then guardbreak their opponents.

Zone Attacks

Developer’s comment: Raider uses Zone Attacks as alternate Heavy Attacks, both in mixups and in punishes. We’ve adjusted the Stamina cost of these attacks to cost the same as Heavy Attacks so that Raider can use them more often and more efficiently.

Stampede Charge

Developer’s comment: Stampede Charge was too slow to be effectively used as a ganking tool. The slightly faster speed should make it easier to players to use it to plan out ganks.

Top Lights in Chains

Developer’s comment: These attacks should now be in-line with other chained Light attacks.

Top Heavy Finisher

Developer’s comment: This should help Raider catch fleeing heroes better with a soft feint to Guardbreak than before.

Orochi Changes

Cancel Attack Recoveries into Dodge

Developer’s comment: Orochi needed a way to be more effective in outnumbered situations as well as being able to go on the offensive more efficiently. With this change Orochi should be able to perform both well, instead of relying on the Finisher’s recovery cancels only.

Light Attacks

Developer’s comment: We want to reorient Orochi into a powerful “One-Two” hero with multiple options when landing attacks so that players no longer need to rely on multiple fast light attacks and instead focus on mixups and agility. These changes should push Orochi towards this archetype.

Storm Rush

Developer’s comment: Storm Rush’s role has expanded. While it can still be used as an opener, its main purpose is now as a mixup with his new Kick move where depending on the situation Orochi’s opponents must make a read as to block a Front Dodge Storm Rush, or dodge the Front Dodge Kick (see Front Dodge Kick below).

Front Dodge Kick

Developer’s comment: Orochi did not have a Melee for the longest time, but this felt like the right time to improve on Orochi’s offense, considering the new direction we are pushing the hero towards. As Orochi moves from being a pure counter-attacker towards a more balanced 1v1 hero, this new option should give Orochi players more ways to open up opponents.

Riptide Strike

Developer’s comment: Riptide Strike, at this new speed and with the new iframes, makes it the optimal 1v1 counterattacking tool – it should be more reliable than before and deals slightly more damage than side Dodge Attacks.

Side and Front Dodge Lights

Developer’s comment: With this new property, Orochi can effectively both target swap in fights and not be interrupted against attacks with fast recoveries.

Side Heavy Finishers

Developer’s comment: Orochi had little incentive to use their Side Heavy Finishers; while they were faster than the Unblockable top version, these attacks did not allow for defense in outnumbered situations. With these new properties, we hope that Orochi is now able to move more swiftly in these types of situations and can deal with multiple opponents more efficiently.

Deflect Attacks

Developer’s comment: Hurricane Blast was situational and was barely used – we opted to improve the functionality of Wind Gust instead so that it still provides a good satisfying attack while keeping some of the more advanced properties of Hurricane Blast.

Shinobi

Ranged Attacks

Developer’s comment: Shinobi’s use of ranged attacks was proving to be problematic. Players were able to use Ranged Guardbreak to gank opponents without indicators, and could use Ranged Heavy attacks to poke at opponents safely, from off-screen in group fight situations. Finally, other heroes just do not have the tools necessary to deal with these Ranged Guardbreaks – even if Shinobi ends up pulled to the ground, the opponent is still stuck in an animation in which they will certainly be hit by an external attacker. We want to change how Shinobi plays so that the hero is more of a very agile close-ranged hero rather than being relegated to running away from opponents and using ranged attacks, and ensuring that Shinobi’s tools work with respect to the opponents’ tools.

Kicks

Developer’s comment: Shinobi has difficulty accessing dodge attacks to counterattack and initiate against opponents. This change should help in making the hero more viable and better able to initiate offense.

Chains

Developer’s comment: Shinobi’s new offense revolves around landing Sickle Rain as much as possible – these changes should help in making the hero flow better towards their mixups.

Sickle Rain

Developer’s comment: Sickle Rain is now the main focal point of Shinobi – as we move towards landing the attack more and more, making the Top version unblockable ensures that Shinobi has effective 1v1 mixups and can land the attack externally, while the side undodgeable versions are used in various mixups after a Front Roll to catch opponents who attempt to dodge the Flip Kick.

Front Roll

Developer’s comment: Shinobi now has a definite use for Front Roll as a mixup tool after a Ranged Heavies and Back Flips – Flip Kick is now fully unreactable and players must read what option their opponent will do instead of blindly dodging every time they see Front Roll.

Flip Kick

Developer’s comment: Flip Kick is now also a chain extender, giving a free Heavy attack that chains to Sickle Rain when it lands.

Sprint Attack

Developer’s comment: This new Sprint Attack is more in line with other fast Bash attacks from Sprint – the guaranteed damage on hit ensures that the move is still viable, but it should no longer be frustrating to play against, and allows us to remove the jankiness with the variable hit timing, and extended hit timings on a first hit.

Combo Heavy Attack

Developer’s comment: This new option for Shinobi ensures that the hero flows better into Sickle Rain and gives proper damage on two of their bashes.

Back Flip

Developer’s comment: Back Flip is able to give Shinobi distance quite easily – with this change, Shinobi has to work harder to get it.

Deflect

Developer’s comment: Shinobi was the only hero with a guaranteed, automatic Deflect. This change gives players more agency as to whether they want to use the attack or not, and now leads to mixups instead of guaranteeing damage against different heroes.

Teleport Kick

Developer’s comment: Shinobi was gaining a lot of damage after a successful Deflect – this change now shifts the balance towards mixups where the opponent has to read if Shinobi will perform a Kick or an undodgeable Side Sickle Rain.

Shadow Strike

Developer’s comment: Shinobi now has access to strong mixups that lead to Sickle Rain when parrying, improving the hero’s flow.

The list of changes to Shinobi is quite exhaustive and may seem jarring to many players as the hero plays differently that before. We feel that this version allows much more variety in combat, is much more successful with mixups, and much healthier in the landscape of For Honor’s heroes’ toolsets. We look forward to your feedback on these changes!

We are introducing new tech in this Testing Grounds that lets us eliminate Parry Option Selects from the game. This ensures that offense is more potent, especially Unblockable offense, and has the potential to have large changes to the game’s meta at the skill levels where they are used.

To achieve this, we’ve ensured that when players enter inputs where one of the multiple outcomes is a Parry (outside of normal Parry attempts), said Parry is ignored and will not be performed. This means that when performing an Option Select, the non-Parry option will always occur. If you throw a Heavy Attack and feint it, your opponent will STILL perform the non-Parry option; if you let your attack go, however, the non-Parry option will get stuffed.

During the live July 21 Warrior’s Den, starting at 12:00 EDT, the following Twitch Drops will be active:

A GUARANTEE of 1 SCAVENGER CRATE to each viewer for every 30 minutes of cumulative watching time. Watch time starts recounting only if you claim previous rewards.

Warrior’s Den Recap – January 20th

In the Warrior’s Den recap article, we’ll go over the second title update (TU2) of Year 5 Season 4 Frozen Shores, starting on January 27th. This new TU will bring new content such as a new playable hero, a brand-new group of heroes, new armor variations and more.

New hero: The Pirate

We are happy to present our newest playable hero in For Honor: The Pirate, available starting January 27th.

The Pirates are sea captains coming from Archipelago far from the land of Heathmoor. Each of them is a captain of their own ship, with hundreds of people relying on them for their survival. Bold, bossy and passionate, but neither good nor bad, The Pirates are coming this year in Heathmoor seeking lost treasures and relics.

Starting January 27th, The Pirate will be available from first-party stores for €7.99/$7.99 as part of a package that includes the new Hero, one exclusive Ornament, one Elite Outfit, seven days of Champion Status and three scavenger crates. Players can also unlock the hero starting February 10th for 15,000 Steel in-game.

The Pirate will join the battlefield as the first hero the Outlanders group. The Outlanders are a new group of heroes added in For Honor consisting of free adventurers who have no cultural links between each other. As explorers and adventurers, they are the ones who will bring the relics, starting with the Pirate, and they will establish a connection between Heathmoor and this new group of Heroes. This new group will be available at the same time as the Pirate hero, starting January 27th. For more details about the Outlanders, please visit our special FAQ.

In addition, with the arrival of The Pirate and the Outlanders group, new seasonal armor variations will be available for all heroes right at the start of TU2. A few armor variations for the Pirate hero have been delayed and will be available at a later date. The Pirates of the Aurora event will also start on January 27th all the way through February 17th. A free event pass will be available during the event. Players will be able to get a Battle Outfit, an Effect as well as an Ornament.

Year 6 Sneak Peek

In this Warrior’s Den, we were happy to announce that For Honor will be back with another year of new content with Year 6: Lost Horizons, starting March 17th. Year 6 will consist of 4 seasons with 2 new heroes that will be added to the Outlanders, the addition of a new customization option with the Hero Skins, as well as further enhancements of the core combat experience and much more.

Of course, more information will come your way when we get closer to the Year 6 Season 1 launch, starting March 17th. In the meantime, for more details about the Year 6, please visit our special article.

Alternate Material Update

On January 27th, we will have an important customization improvement. This change will allow the material coloration system to grant more color precision. The objective was to be more faithful to the colors of the preview. Accurate color control also leads to possibility of new, more subtle material colors. As of January 27th, all materials will switch to the new system.

Welcome new and returning Warriors! The For Honor community uses a lot of complex terminology when discussing this game. This can be frustrating to newer or more relaxed players who are just trying to understand their own hero.

We created this guide for players who don’t understand their losses, or feel that they may be missing crucial knowledge.

Practice always helps, but game knowledge can go a long way when asking “How do I stop light spammers?” or “how do I deal with bashes?”

Whether you’re new or just someone who wants to brush up on their terminology, we hope you find this useful.

For Honor Terms and Concepts:

Bashes

Bashes are moves that cannot be blocked or parried. They are often used to open up opponents. Bashes typically use part of the body or armor rather than a weapon. Warden’s Shoulder Bash is a well-known example of this type of move.

Counter-play: Dodging is the main defense against bashes. Heroes that have a dodge attack can deal with bashes quite well.

Another counter is reading when a player is likely to use a bash – catch them early enough, and you can use an attack to interrupt the bash before it even gets started.

**Uninterruptible Stance / Hyper Armor
**

Uninterruptible Stance (often called hyper armor) is an attack that, at some point in the animation, cannot be stopped. Landing an attack on a hero who is attacking with an Uninterruptible move will not interrupt the animation, and heroes like Hitokiri and Shugoki are able to strategically trade damage for damage.

Counter-play: Attacks with uninterruptible stance can still be defended against with parries and dodges, though sometimes these attacks have other special properties (such as the Unblockable property). They also may have variable timing, which can throw off your dodge and parry attempts.

Be aware that deflects are not always a good option against Uninterruptible attacks. Typically, heroes with deflects have less health, so the damage trade-off may not be worth it.

Enhanced Attacks

Enhanced attacks are attacks that can be used in a combo after a prior attack has been blocked. Most attacks can’t go further into a combo after a block, as it puts the blocked hero into recovery.

Warlord is a hero whose light attacks are enhanced.

Counter-play: Enhanced attacks should be kept in mind so you’re not caught unawares after a successful block.

Unblockable Attacks

Unblockable attacks are marked by a red trail on the weapon, in addition to a specific symbol that will appear.

As you may suspect, Unblockable attacks cannot be blocked. Dodging and parrying are still options.

Counter-play: Unblockable attacks force you to take some sort of action. Either dodge, parry, or interrupt the attack before it even begins. Use the Training Mode to practice defending against specific moves using pre-set AI attacks.

Undodgeable Attacks

Undodgeable attacks are marked by a blue trail.

Counter-play: Undodgeable attacks are an effective way of catching dodge attack-focused heroes. If you’re playing Tiandi or Zhanhu, be more careful in your use of that part of your moveset.

Feints

There are two types of feint: hard feints and soft feints. Hard feints are used to cancel heavy attacks. “Soft” feints are moves that don’t require the use of the “Feint” input to be changed. Kensei, for example, has a few different soft feints from their top heavy finisher. By pressing the light attack button and a direction, they can adjust to a side light attack.

Punishes

Punishes are the optimal attack to use in certain situations. It’s important to note that every hero has different punishes, but as a general rule you can use more damaging attacks if you manage to parry a light attack. Heavy attacks may only be punished by a light or a Zone.

Some heroes have dedicated punishes. If Nuxia parries an attack, she can use her dedicated parry punish move.

If she parries a light attack, she can use her heavy attack to punish her opponent for more damage. But she technically does have a dedicated parry punish that she can choose to use.

Game Score

Game Score is how you push the enemy team into “Breaking.” When a team reaches 1000 points, their opponent is pushed into Breaking. When a team is breaking, it can’t respawn.

One crucial part of Game Score is the distinction between hard points and soft points. Some actions give your team points that never go away (i.e. killing heroes and minions). But when you capture a Zone, your team receives 100 soft points, which contribute to your team’s Game Score until the other team capture the Zone back.

This is important to know when in Breaking, because it means that capturing an enemy-controlled Zone may both release your team from Breaking, and possibly put the other team into Breaking.

Revenge

Revenge is a meter that builds as an isolated player is attacked by multiple opponents.

Note that Revenge can be “held.” If you attack an opponent holding onto their Revenge, they can knock down any attackers who attack them.

Tip: Revenge is sometimes best used as a method of stalling, or waiting for help. You can try to win in an outnumbered situation, but carefully delaying until a friend arrives is also an option.

Guardbreak

Guardbreaks are a method of opening up an opponent. However, a GB’d player always gets the opportunity to counter guardbreak.

Tip: Guardbreaks are useful for “catching” heroes who are dodging or rolling. Feinting a heavy and then guardbreaking is a useful trick for catching a defensive player.

Stamina

Stamina is shown by the green bar underneath your health. When taking certain actions or being attacked by specific moves, heroes gradually lose their Stamina.

Some heroes, like Jiang Jun, are able to recover Stamina in a unique way. For all heroes, simply waiting for stamina recovery may make more sense than risking going Out of Stamina.

The Out of Stamina state, or OOS, is a painful situation to be in. Your attacks will come out much slower, and any throws will cause you to be “knocked down.” Knocked down opponents are vulnerable to very high damage punishes, so be careful! Play defensively when OOS around enemy heroes, or you’ll likely pay the cost.

As a general note: Zone attacks often cost a great deal of Stamina.

Dodging is a form of defense that avoids the attack entirely if timed correctly. Some heroes have dodge attacks, which means their defense can lead to effective offense.

It can sometimes feel impossible to hit these heroes, but remember that well-timed Guardbreaks will catch dodges and rolls. If someone is dodging a lot, you may be able to predict it. Feinting a heavy attack to force a dodge then immediately feinting into a guardbreak is one possible strategy.

Deflect

A form of defense that often leads to very high damage. If your hero has a deflect, you may want to look out for attacks from the top of your guard indicator. Player typically find these easier to deflect.

It’s worth noting that “chasing Deflects” can get you into trouble. Sometimes a simple block is a much safer option. Also: you likely don’t want to deflect against an opponent using lots of Uninterruptible attacks.

But Deflects are very cool, so we understand if you want to keep attempting lots of them.

Ganking is attacking someone when you outnumber them. Anti-gank play is what happens when you’re outnumbered.

Most players do not like being ganked. It’s not an easy situation to deal with. In modes that feature lots of players, uneven situations will always occur around the battlefield.

But if you’re trying to win a Dominion match, understanding how to gank and how to react to being ganked is crucial. Outnumbered heroes gain Revenge, which lets them continue to fight. Avoid feeding Revenge unnecessarily and remember to stay a bit more defensive when outnumbered. It’s okay to play conservatively until helps arrives!

For Honor server connection failed

For Honor is the new game from Ubisoft for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Right now the game is in beta but we can see that many of you are having problems with For Honor servers down with server connection failed errors popping up all the time.

Long before the Cataclysm, Knights, Wu Lin, Samurai, and Vikings all lived in harmony in the ancient citadel of Wyverndale, which stood as a monument to peace and prosperity. This era of wonder was achieved thanks to the unprecedented efforts of Lord Ramiel, a heroic Knight who would become known as the First Warden.

Year 6 Recap

We started with a recap of the Year 6 Vision Video. In Year 6, we’re going to tell a variety of lore packed stories. These stories will focus on the relics and will be about heroic and villainous figures in the history of For Honor. We also added a new customization element, the Hero Skins. Please refer to the specific section in the article for more info on that feature. 2 more heroes will be added to the roster as well in Y6S2 and Y6S4. These heroes will join the rank of the Outlanders and will expand the cultures that we’ve met so far. Core gameplay is always going to improve and of course, Testing Grounds is still an awesome tool that we’ll continue to use in the future to balance heroes and improve gameplay.

We are excited to announce that Crossplay is coming to For Honor on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Crossplay will be implemented in 2 phases, with Phase 1 being introduced on March 17 th 2022, alongside the launch of Y6S1. The launch of Phase 2 will happen at a later date as it is currently under development.

Crossplay has been an ambition of our team for a very long time. There have been many technical challenges to bring Crossplay to For Honor because the core technical game components were not originally designed to support it. Thanks to the hard work of the team, we are now proud to bring Crossplay to our Warriors. We believe Crossplay will benefit For Honor and its long-term vision.

In Phase 1, Crossplay will be enabled for matchmaking for PVP and PVE modes, unifying the 3 player pools for all PC, PlayStation, and Xbox players. Players will see something new on the seasonal roadmap: the Hero Fests. It’s our new way to celebrate our Heroes. It’s a week-long fest where one specific Hero will be free to play in addition to being on sale (33%). Two free symbols are also going to be given to the players when they open the game during the Fest. Furthermore, we’ll release a unique execution for that hero. Of course, the execution won’t be time-limited. There will be 2 Hero Fests per TU, for a total of 4 per season. The first Hero Fest is going to start on April 7 th with the Aramusha. Players can look out for the roadmap for the announcement of the next heroes that are going to be part of the Hero Fest.

Hero Skins

Starting Year 6 Season 1, we’ll add a new customization element to the world of For Honor; the Hero Skins. We will release 1 Hero Skin per season for 1 hero, not necessarily at the beginning of the season. The Hero Skin will be based on important characters in the history of For Honor. Our first Hero Skin is for the Warden and its name is Lord Ramiel. The Hero Skin will override the whole Warden’s customization, but players will be able to change its material. We also presented Lord Ramiel and gave details about his story and how it ties in with the season narrative.

The pious Knight made a sacrifice to bring peace and protect his people. Through a sacred ritual, he bound his fate to a Wyvern and drank its blood in the Chalice of Immortality. As long as the Knight lived, so would the powerful creature. They vowed to protect the legendary citadel of Wyverndale together.

When the First Warden drank the Wyvern’s blood, he was blessed with tremendous powers, but also lost a part of himself. He lost his humanity, his ability to feel pain for himself and others. That is why modern Wardens and Warmongers have different interpretations of that same tale, claiming Ramiel’s sacrifice as a symbolic story driving their beliefs.

The Lord Ramiel Hero Skin is going to be available for purchase starting March 17 th for 25 000 steels. For 11.99$, players will be able to buy the hero skin as well as a 7-day champion status and 3 scavenger crates.

What are status codes?

Every time your browser connects to a webpage it’s sent back data from the webpage known as headers. The purpose of the headers is to give the browser important information about the state of the webpage. The https status codes as they are sometimes called are handed to the browser as part of this information. And tell the browser what’s going to happen next.

For instance, if the webpage sends a http status code of 200 back to the browser it means “OK everything worked, I will now display the contents you requested”. But if it sends back a http status code of 404 it means “NOT FOUND, the requested webpage was not found, so I can’t display the contents you requested”.

Status codes can be separated into five separate categories based on their first number:

3XX – Redirect
The webpage is up and reachable, but is going to redirect you to another URL.

4XX – Browser Error
The browser has requested information which does not exist on the server.

5XX – Server Error
The server has a temporary or permanent error and is unable to handle the request.

What is an IP Address?

Given to you by your ISP, IP addresses consist of four sets of numeric values or octets ranging from 0 – 255, with each octet separated by a single dot.

From home computers to large organizations, any device with an Internet connection needs a public IP address. IP addresses are used as a way for devices to send data to each other. And because they’re globally unique, ensure the data reaches it’s intended target and doesn’t go to the wrong place.

Websites have IP addresses too, but they’re usually hidden behind the sites domain name. When you visit a website such as google.com, for example, the websites name gets converted to its associated IP address by DNS servers. The DNS servers then use the IP address to find the website and load the content in your browser window.

Sometimes it’s possible to visit a website using the IP address instead of the domain name. But usually, the website blocks this kind of direct access because it’s not encrypted (using https), and poses a security risk.

Why did the website redirect?

There are numerous reasons why a website might automatically redirect you to a different location. The most obvious reason is the website has a new domain name, and needs to redirect visitors to it. Another possibility is the website has unusually high levels of traffic and needs to move some visitors to a server with more resources. The website could also be down for maintenance and needs to redirect its visitors to a webpage with information about when the site will be back.

Some larger websites redirect their visitors in order to deliver location-based content. For instance, if someone in Germany visits the Italian version of a website with content and products aimed at Italian visitors the website will automatically redirect them to the German version.

Dev Comment: The previous Back + Guard Break input of 600ms was unreactable for most players outside of high-level play. This meant that Gryphon’s Shove was problematic (for different reasons) in both casual and high-level play.

By making Gryphon’s Shove a 500ms Dodge Forward Melee, combined with the additional minimum of 300ms spent in the Forward Dodge, the move becomes predictable for most players, while also being unreactable to players at all levels of play.

Gryphon’s Shove should now function as a mix-up and opener that is less frustrating to face.

Greetings once again fellow warriors, we hope you enjoyed today’s Testing Grounds segment on Warrior’s Den! The testing grounds will be open on December 30^th^ to test further changes to Dominion and a possible rework to Conqueror. If you missed the show or would like to once again go over everything again at your own pace, we go you covered. Just reading bellow for more information on the changes you can expect in Y5S4’s Testing Grounds.

Further Dominion Improvements

Let’s start with what you can expect for Dominions.

Here we’ll be summarizing the results from the last Dominion Testing Grounds and explain the reasoning behind the changes we are proposing this time.

Our first takeaway from the data was that Week 2’s numbers were too low, giving Tier 4 Feats to only about 44% of players, as opposed to about 58% in regular Dominion. We can also see that the really high renown gains in Regular Dominion were scaled back by a lot, which we read as a lot less matches ending in completely one-sided splits and less matches where a team reaches their Tier 4s way too early on.

We started by looking at match times, which had seen a substantial rise during Week 1 of the TG. We were pleased to see that with the changes we made for Week 2, match times were back to almost exactly the same as regular Dominion values!

14% less Tier 4s reached = NOT SO GOOD

So, we kept digging.

What about Points?

What we saw here was even more encouraging! The changes we did to Points gains from the Control Zones and Minion Lane ended up resulting in an almost perfect split!

In an average Dominion match in the TG’s 2^nd^ Week, we saw that teams gained about as many Points from Control Zones than they did from the Minion Lane, which is a significant improvement over regular Dominion, where Control Zones give on average 13% more Points than Minion Lane.

This convinced us the issue wasn’t in the Points, so in this 2^nd^ Dominion TG, we will be playing with other levers. Starting with.

Feat Unlock Thresholds! If we consider our current Renown gain values are correct, the best way to raise the percentage of players getting to Tier 4 Feats is to lower the requirement to reach it.

Looking at the data we received, we noticed that IF Feat 4 had been unlocked at 320 Renown, about 56% of players would have reached it, which is a lot closer to the regular Dominion average.

Next, we took a long hard look at Capture Times.

This is where we saw a divide between players.

Those who enjoyed the 5.5 seconds capture time no matter what appreciated that it made «deathball» strategies, where a whole team sticks together and cycles between Control Zones obliterating any who stands in their path, less effective since they needed more time to capture Zones. It was also appreciated that it was easier to counter backcap attempts when capturing always took 5.5 seconds, allowing you to venture outside of your zone more comfortably and still be able to come back in time.

On the other side, some players enjoyed the faster capture times when more than one player was capturing and were sad to see it go. Faster captures mean faster healing after winning a fight on a Zone, as well as more Points and less situations where a Zone remains contested for most of the match instead of switching hands. They also liked to be rewarded for sticking together as a team. Not to mention it makes getting out of Breaking more likely. There is also the matter of the Beachhead map, which currently favors Defenders at the start of a match, who can ensure the Attackers cannot capture their Zone before it becomes contested.

In this 2^nd^ Testing Grounds, we are proposing a shorter, but still consistent capture time of 4.5 seconds as a compromise to both sides of the coin.

As for Renown bonuses and Points, we have opted to keep them exactly the same as TG #1, as we felt the results were on par with our goals and we didn’t want to alter them too much after lower the Feat unlock Thresholds this much so as to not muddy the resulting D-A-T-A.

And here’s a little something new!

There are a lot of things happening in Dominion’s text log: Renown gains, captured Zones, triple pings for a revive, going into and out of breaking, damage values, other players praising your skills at playing Orochi. So much that you’d sometimes be unable to read the info you really wanted before it scrolled away forever.

Enter the Renown Widget.

Now all Renown-related events are neatly centralized just over your renown bar! We’re hoping this will further help players understand how their actions influence their Renown gains while also helping declutter the text log.

The current state of the Conqueror pins him as a very defensive Hero with very little in the way of offense. This heavy focus on defense highlighted gameplay scenarios we want to steer away from with the direction the game is taking.

Developer’s Comment: Being accessible from chains, faster to fully charge and less stamina-hungry, we are aiming at making the Conqueror’s charging a more useful and visible part of the Hero’s kit.

Developer’s Comment: Conquerors were being held back by their inability to feint Heavies, rendering their offense risky as they had to commit to every Heavy Attack, cancel them into a slow Shield Uppercut or a very defensive and stamina-hungry Full Block Stance.

With the improved Shield Bash Mix-Up and Undodgeable Heavies in chains, we decided to remove the ability to cancel Heavies with a Shield Uppercut to keep the amount of Bashes coming at the player in check and to prevent «Undodgeable into Bash» cancels.

We’ve removed the Superior Block from Heavies as it let the Conqueror parry on Light Attack timing and still block a Heavy, negating one of the most basic mix-ups.

Zone Attack:

Developer’s Comment: The Full Block property of the Zone Attack allowed it to continue being used as a sort of Option Select. By improving its range, trajectory and allowing it to initiate chains, we hope to make it a healthier move that will still be useful in outnumbered scenarios.

Shield Bash Mix Up (in chains)

While the previous Shield Bash Mix Up had a strong knockback that caused wall staggers, it was so prohibitively slow that it contributed to players never wanting to chain with the Hero.

By making it 500ms, lowering its stamina cost, removing the wall stagger and ability to chain on Miss, we are reducing its potential power, but making it a much more appealing tool to use mid-chain that forces the opponent to think about possibly having to dodge after every Light or Heavy Attack.

Improving its forward movement should also help target swapping for surprise attacks in group fights.

Flail Uppercut:

Developer’s Comment: With Shield Bash Mix Up now being 500ms, we did not want Conqueror now having access to an infinite «Light Attack > Shield Bash Mix Up» chain flow. With the introduction of the Flail Uppercut as a dedicated follow-up to Bashes that does not link to another Bash, we are forcing the Conqueror into doing something else before being able to perform another Bash while still giving them an Uninterruptible Stance move to more reliably deal damage after a successful Bash.

We’re also letting Conqueror forego their guaranteed Flail Uppercut to instead go directly to a chained Heavy Attack, should they want to surprise an external attacker preying for a Guardbreak.

Full Block Stance:

Developer’s Comment: While we are making Full Block Stance more vulnerable to Guardbreak by removing the ability to Zone Attack from it, we are also increasing its efficiency as a defensive and counter-attacking tool by making it much more accessible, faster, more stamina-efficient and making the special move after a successful Block a better team fighting tool.

Light Attacks:

Developer’s Comment: Reducing Miss recovery, making all Lights 500ms and improving target swapping for Lights in chains are all nice quality of life changes for the Hero which should improve both his 1v1 and 1vX game with more viable options and less dead ends.

Unblockable Heavy (from Full Charge):

Developer’s Comment: After a Flail Uppercut, opponents should be afraid to dodge due to the possibility of an Undodgeable Heavy coming their way, and with the Flail Uppercut’s Medium Hit Reaction and faster time to become Fully Charged, Conquerors now have the opportunity to incorporate the Unblockable Heavy into their 1v1 gameplan.

Shield Bash:

Developer’s Comment: With the changes to stamina damage and regeneration, we want to steer away from Conqueror being able to keep opponents out of Stamina for extended periods of time using Shield Bash.

Dodge Superior Block:

Developer’s Comment: While we are keeping the Shield Bash possible from a Superior Block Dodge, this new opportunity should be even more desirable in terms of speed, damage and trajectory.

В режиме «Захват территорий» нужно набрать 1000 очков, чтобы перевести оппонента в статус «сломлен». После этого поверженные противники не смогут возвращаться в бой. Так что вам требуется сломить волю оппонента и победить в еще нескольких поединках для полной победы.

Очки начисляются за убийства вражеских героев и солдат, а также за захват зон. Существует 2 типа очков: фиксированные и те, которые у вашей команды могут забрать. Классы и роли

В соревновательном плане в For Honor есть большое различие между классами и ролями героев. Эффективнее всего набирать счет на средней линии, убивая солдат, поэтому в сильных командах всегда есть герой, который на этом специализируется. В остальном структура ролей может меняться. Кто-то делает ставку на универсальных героев, которые постоянно перемещаются, а кто-то – на героев для неравных боев.

As a first step towards troubleshooting the issue, we will be investigating if the issue is at the developers’ end or on ours. In order to do that:

The Buildup of DNS cache is dangerous because if corrupted, it can prevent the internet functionalities of your computer and prevent a stable connection from being established. Therefore, in this step, we will be flushing the DNS. For that:

Let us go over all the ins and outs below.

What we are trying to solve

One of the issues that we are facing more and more as move along this path is the fact that players are not always incentivized to use chained attacks when outnumbered. Some heroes, like Jiang Jun, perform admirably there due to fast, wide-sweeping attacks, but there is a limit to this; we want heroes with slower attacks to not be punished hard for using them.

Guardbreak Vulnerability here is problematic: in a 1v2 situation, it is overly risky to throw attacks because it is very likely one of your opponents will land a Guardbreak during any of your attack recoveries. To top it off, Finisher recoveries are currently very Guardbreak vulnerable, making Finishers even riskier than other attacks to use when outnumbered.

What is our solution?

As we’ve debated over this, one clear, clean solution came to us: recoveries should be immune to guardbreak. This makes it so you simply do not get interrupted by a Guardbreak (and then a Heavy attack, and potentially even more if your opponent has an ally nearby!) during ANY recovery, including when attacks are missed. This lets players attack more with less fear of reprisal. It does not mean that you’ll never get interrupted (Light and Heavy attacks exist, after all!) but it does make it much safer to use a wider variety of attacks in multiple situations.

Did we consider other solutions?

We did look into many other variants of this solution. One of them was making all recoveries except Miss recoveries be Guardbreak immune; while this had potential, the major issue we found is that it is not always clear when an attack is missed, is hit or is blocked; our system works in a way that we only consider the result of your locked target when determining the result of an attack, and as such attacks that did hit or were blocked by others externally but did not hit the locked target do not count as a hit or a block but rather as a miss. Situations like this occur quite frequently, and the status of Guardbreak invulnerability becomes difficult to read from a player perspective.

Another one we investigated was not making recoveries fully immune but rather make Guardbreak attempts techable; this would have partly solved the problem as it does lower the vulnerability of throwing attacks, but had the major downside that players were still interrupted in the middle of their chains quite often, which is one part of what we’re trying to solve.

What is in this Testing Grounds?

This is what we’re attempting to fix with this Testing Grounds. In it, you’ll find the following changes are applied to every hero:

Most Attack recoveries are now immune to Guardbreak until the hero regains the ability to block

All chained attacks are fully immune to Guardbreak

Every bash that had a recovery of less than 766ms on miss is now has 766ms of miss recovery to ensure that Dodge Attacks will always beat Bashes

Highlander has new Side Dodge attacks while in Defensive Stance, performed by pressing the Heavy button to ensure the hero can beat bashes

Jiang Jun can now enter Sifu Stance at the same time as the hero can block during Hit/Block hit reactions to ensure the hero can beat bashes

We must note that this change only applies to attack recoveries; Full Block Stances, as well as Dodges, are unaffected, and remain guardbreak vulnerable as they currently are, including when they are used as Recovery Cancels. Aramusha, for example, keeps the Guardbreak vulnerability when using Blade Blockade, even when it is used to cancel the recovery of an attack, so that there is an additional drawback to using this cancel.

This is a large system-wide change that we’ve been working on for quite some time. It involves changing a lot of data on our side, and it is possible that some bugs crept in. If you do notice something inconsistent, do not be afraid to report it; we will look into all the reports and apply fixes as needed.

For Honor Dominion Series 2021

The format for 2021 will be different from the previous year. All information such as how to sign up, official rules, prize breakdowns, and more will be on the battlefy website, which will be up and ready for you starting April 16th.

The Dominion Series 2021 will feature a circuit that will run throughout the entire year, starting from Year 5 Season 1 to Year 5 Season 4. Each season will be considered a “Stage”, with a total of 4 stages in the program.

The Dominion Series is currently online-only and region-locked, for NA and EU players who are at least 18 years of age. Registration will open on April 16th.

The first 3 Stages are made up of 4 Qualifiers tournaments and 1 Major tournament each. For every event, players can win points by placing high enough. At the end of this year, top teams in each region will be invited to the Finals in Stage 4, or Y5S4.

QUALIFIERS

These are online tournaments that are open to everyone (unlimited teams). Each season in Year 5 will have 4 qualifiers, excluding Y5S4. The format will be double elimination brackets, with each match a Best-of-3. In each Qualifier, the top 4 teams will receive points based on placement, and in addition, the first-place team will be invited to the closed Major.

If you win a Qualifier tournament, you will not be able to participate in the remaining Qualifier tournaments within that season.

MAJORS

A Major is a 1-day online broadcasted tournament, held in both North America and Europe separately. It brings together the 4 winning teams from Qualifiers, who will compete in a double elimination format. Competing teams will receive points and a cash prize based on their placements

LAST CHANCE QUALIFIERS

The LCQ is a 1-day online tournament that will be held in Stage 4. Also in a double elimination format, the winning team will advance to the Finals.

FINALS

The Finals are a 1-day online, broadcasted event held in Stage 4. The 4 teams will play for a cash prize in a double elimination, Best-of-3 format with the Grand Finals being a Best-of-5. The winner will be crowned the For Honor Dominion Series 2021 Champions in their respective regions.

Dev Comment: The previous Back + Guard Break input of 600ms was unreactable for most players outside of high-level play. This meant that Gryphon’s Shove was problematic (for different reasons) in both casual and high-level play.

By making Gryphon’s Shove a 500ms Dodge Forward Melee, combined with the additional minimum of 300ms spent in the Forward Dodge, the move becomes predictable for most players, while also being unreactable to players at all levels of play.

Gryphon’s Shove should now function as a mix-up and opener that is less frustrating to face.

AM Group:
Who can play: Players in Europe and North America are encouraged to enter. Please note that the tournaments are cross-region, participants must be 18 years of age or older, and there is a registration cap of 64 teams per tournament.

When is it: There will be a total of six AM group tournaments with two each on PC, Xbox, and Playstation. The dates are the following:

When is it: There will be 1 Pro group tournament on PC, which will be played across 2 days. The dates are the following:

Format: PRO Tournaments will follow a Round Robin format, Best of 3 Maps, Conquest*.

*What is Conquest?
Conquest is a match format which aims to be a simple method of increasing character diversity in a competitive tournament. This essentially means that within a round, each team can only pick characters that they haven’t already won a match using. This means that to a win a Best of 3 Match, a team must field 8 characters total. If a team loses a map, they do not have to change characters, but may do so if they wish, as long as they do not pick any characters with which they have won a previous map in that round.

Самое время открыть порты в брандмауэре, но перед этим следует понимать как «это» работает. Дело в том, что программы и компьютерные игры, использующие интернет, для работы требуют не только беспроблемный доступ к сети, но и вдобавок открытые порты. Это особенно важно, если вы хотите поиграть в какую-нибудь сетевую игру.

Часто порты на компьютере закрыты, поэтому их следует открыть. Кроме того, перед настройкой нужно узнать номера портов, а для этого для начала потребуется узнать IP-адрес роутера.

Calling all Warriors! For Honor will be free to play on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC from July 15-18. Play as your favorite Viking, Samurai, Knight, and Wu Lin heroes across all game modes and maps!

PC: July 15th 1PM UTC to July 19th 8PM UTC. Pre-load starts on July 13th 4PM UTC.

PS4 & PS5: July 15th 7AM UTC to July 19th 8PM UTC. PlayStation Plus Subscription is required. Pre-load starts on July 13th 4PM UTC.

Xbox: July 15th 7AM UTC to July 19th 8PM UTC. Xbox Live Gold Subscription required. There will be no pre-load on Xbox consoles.
