AFK Arena Tier List 2021 – The Best Heroes (Patch 1.70)

Welcome to Borderpolar’s AFK Arena hero tier list in 2021. This post will give you an idea of what works in AFK Arena long-term. There are many great heroes in this game, but you will notice that most of those heroes are Celestials and Hypogeans.

So we cannot focus on each and everyone on them. Instead, we need to focus on top-tier heroes first. In mobile gaming, this is usually the rule of thumb, as gacha RPGs are resource-demanding.

AFK Arena Game Modes

I’ve been thinking a lot about this Tier List. What really matters in AFK Arena is that eventually, you are going to need 25 heroes, ranging from decent to excellent because from Chapter 33 you are going to start facing 5-team fights.

You are going to need 5 decent to excellent heroes for the faction towers and you are going to need a very strong team for King’s Tower.

Starting new accounts on the Test Server was quite enlightening for me, so this tier list targets the end game. You will find early-game and mid-game tier lists online. However, this tier list does not focus on early and mid-game.

List of Heroes to Avoid

Firstly, my best advice for you is to not bother building any hero below B in this tier list. I regret spending so many resources on heroes that were considered good but they are now useless (Belinda, Shemira, Athalia, and others).

Regardless, I am not labeling heroes like these as trash. But what matters, is that there are far better heroes. So, I would advise you to not spend any resources, including fodder, on heroes that you are not going to use in the end game. Because in 6 to 9 months you are going to regret it, as I did.

Consequently, I advise you to only invest in the best among ascended heroes.

The only heroes you should care about are the ones that are going to still work with high level and power deficits. For instance, at King’s tower level 400+the enemy teams have more than quadruple my own team’s power. Ainz’s ultimate feels like the scratch of a cat at this point, despite his overall insane damage output.

The Best AFK Arena Heroes

So what do you really care about at this point and which heroes are the best?

Skills that still Attack Rating percentage (Grezhul’s and Daimon’s for instance), heroes that remove HP% like Ainz, Alna because she provides immunity, Thoran because he returns the damage he receives multiplied.

Lucretia because her SI +30 is amazing, Raku because he hits like a truck, Rowan because getting fast ultimates is priceless, plus he is a tank support with crowd control. There are pretty much the best heroes in AFK Arena at the moment, so you will use team compositions built around them.

So, that brings us to the next point which I have not written about. Team compositions. I tried to keep heroes that are useful in end-game team comps at Tier B or higher, even if individually they may seem lackluster.

Overall, I believe Alna is the best AFK Arena hero.

With all this in mind, I would like to show you the best heroes per faction, heroes that I have invested in or I wish I had invested in. The orders below are not absolute and depend a lot on the team compositions you are planning to use of course. These will also help you compose the best AFK Arena teams for faction towers:

AFK Arena Tier List

This is our AFK Arena tier list. We rate each hero based on their performance in all of the different types of content. This includes PvE, PvP and Bosses.

The ratings are entirely subjective. They’re based on the personal opinion of experienced players that are well progressed at all levels of the game. If you think a hero is rated wrong for something, let us know (with proof) and we’ll gladly change it!

And as with any tier list, take it with a pinch of salt. Don’t treat it like the bible of the game. You can progress with most of the heroes eventually because the level of your heroes is far more important in most cases.

Also, keep in mind that the unique thing about AFK Arena is that you can reset the EXP of heroes at any point and level another one. Don’t be afraid to try out different heroes and team comps to progress through the game.

You’re not really that invested into any hero until you start consuming other heroes to ascend it.

Things can also get a little more complex once you factor in the bonus for having the same faction heroes in one team. Generally having at least one of the buffs active is recommended.

PvE – Campaign & King’s Tower.
PvP – Legends’ Championship, Legends’ Challenger Tournament, Arena of Heroes.
Boss – Twisted Realm, Guild Bosses.

Rankings

Tier S+ – Overpowered.
Tier S/S- – Great, core of many teams.
Tier A+/A/A- – Good, but not the best.
Tier B+/B – Average, underused.
Tier C – Below average, rarely used.
Tier D/E/F – Never worth using.

AFK Arena Tier List

Hero tier list for endgame content. It assumes that heroes are Level 500+. 5* Ascended, Mythic+ Gear, +30 SI & 9 Mythic Furniture.

While the list is endgame focused, it’s generally best used to gauge the overall power and longevity of heroes in the game.

However, some heroes are still very useful early on e.g. Shemira. She just drops off in power towards the later stages of the game.
