Hello everyone, hope you’re having a good start to 2018. I want to give a shout-out to NORED for suggesting I cover this. Anyway, let’s get into it. Obey the Walrus is a video that surfaced on YouTube in October of 2007. Little was known about it, but little research is needed to find the truth
The first ten seconds of the video featured Andross, final boss from Star Fox on the SNES, singing The Itsy Bitsy Spider in Spanish. The song quickly speeds up and we see the star of the video. A woman with an odd posture dances around as the Spanish Itsy Bitsy Spider now plays in reverse. Her movement towards the camera seems in sync with the reversed music and her stare makes the viewer feel uneasy. This continues for the rest of the video minus the last few seconds. In the very end, we’re simply shown an image of a walrus.
Obey the walrus, known in Spanish as «Obedece la Morsa», is a video that was created by a Latin American cult known as «La Morsa» (The Walrus) and it is said that «bad things» happen after watching the video.
The woman in the video is actually a drag queen named Johnnie Baima, later known as Sandie Crisp. Baima got her figure during her battle with polio. As for the footage, it’s all from The Goddess Bunny, a film about Baima’s transition into a woman. I have not been able to find the source for the Itsy Bitsy Spider audio but that may very well be the least important thing here.
As for the cult La Morsa, there has been no evidence to prove their existence leading me to believe the video and backstory we’re fabricated together.

Странная и неровная композиция «I Am The Walrus» получилась на основе минимум трех незаконченных песен, написанных Джоном в то время, ни одна из которых не развилась в самостоятельную. «Obedece a la Morsa», known in English as Obey The Walrus, is a viral video featuring drag queen the Goddess Bunny, who was disabled from childhood polio. The video features herself tap dancing to a distorted version of «Itsy Bitsy Spider.» Many find the video unsettling, and it has inspired reaction videos, parodies, and remixes.
Origin
The original video clip was taken from the film The Goddess Bunny [1] which is about the drag queen. [2] The film was released in 1998 and the clip was uploaded to eBaum’s World [3] on July 3rd, 2006, where it has accrued over 250,000 views as of March 2021. It was later reuploaded to YouTube (shown below).
The video features a distorted version of the «Itsy Bitsy Spider» song and different visual and audio effects.
Spread
The video spread to the Creepypasta Wiki [4] and various internet forums. [5] [6] It is also featured on Frikipedia. [7] In the years since it was posted, it has been the source of multiple reaction videos and is often associated with other famous creepy videos such as Agamemnon Counterpart and I Feel Fantastic. [8] Popular reaction videos include an August 12th, 2016 reaction by Tyrone Magnus that gained over 196,000 views (shown below, left) and a December 14th, 2016 reaction posted by BucketHeadNation that gained over 133,000 views (shown below, right).
On January 23rd, 2015, YouTube channel ScareTheater uploaded an explainer of ObeyTheWalrus, gaining nearly 1 million views in five years (shown below).
