Lyrics hymn for the weekend
Lyrics hymn for the weekend
Drink from me, drink from me (oh-ah)
Shoot across the sky (pour on a symphony)
So high, so high (you said)
That we shoot across the sky
Drink from me, drink from me (ah, oh-ah, oh-ah)
That we shoot across the sky (now I’m feeling drunk and high)
Symphony (so high, so high)
That we shoot across the sky
Oh, angel sent from up above
You know you make my world light up
When I was down, when I was hurt
You came to lift me up
Life is a drink, and love’s a drug
Oh, now I think I must be miles up
When I was a river dried up
You came to rain a flood
You said, «drink from me, drink from me»
When I was so thirsty
Pour on a symphony
Now I just can’t get enough
Put your wings on me, wings on me
When I was so heavy
Pour on a symphony
When I’m low, low, low, low
Ah, oh-ah, oh-ah
Got me feeling drunk and high
So high, so high
Oh-ah, oh-ah, oh-ah
Now I’m feeling drunk and high
So high, so high (wooh!)
Wooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Wooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
Oh, angel sent from up above
I feel you coursing through my blood
Life is a drink, and your love’s about
To make the stars come out
Put your wings on me, wings on me
When I was so heavy
Pour on a symphony
When I’m low, low, low, low
Ah, oh-ah, oh-ah
Got me feeling drunk and high
So high, so high
Oh-ah, oh-ah, oh-ah
Now I’m feeling drunk and high
So high, so high
Ah, oh-ah, oh-ah
La la la la la la la
So high, so high
Ah, oh-ah, oh-ah
Now I’m feeling drunk and high
So high, so high
That we shoot across the sky
That we shoot across the…
That we shoot across the sky
That we shoot across the…
That we shoot across the sky
That we shoot across the…
That we shoot across the sky
That we shoot across the…
Oh, angels sent from up above
You know you make my world light up
When I was down, when I was hurt
You came to lift me up
Life is a drink, and love’s a drug
Oh now I think I must be miles up
When I was hurt, withered, dried up
You came to rain a flood
So drink from me, drink from me
When I was so thirsty
We’re on a symphony
Now I just can’t get enough
Put your wings on me, wings on me
When I was so heavy
We’re on a symphony
When I’m lower, lower, lower, low
Ah-oh-ah-oh-ah
Got me feeling drunk and high
So high, so high
Oh-ah-oh-ah-oh-ah
I’m feeling drunk and high
So high, so high
(Woo)
(Woo-ooo-ooo-woo)
Oh, angels sent from up above
I feel it coursing through my blood
Life is a drink, your love’s about
To make the stars come out
Put your wings on me, wings on me
When I was so heavy
We’re on a symphony
When I’m lower, lower, lower, low
Ah-oh-ah-oh-ah
Got me feeling drunk and high
So high, so high
Oh-ah-oh-ah-oh-ah
I’m feeling drunk and high
So high, so high
Ah-oh-ah-oh-ah
La, la, la, la, la, la, la
So high, so high
Ah-oh-ah-oh-ah
I’m feeling drunk and high
So high, so high
Then we’ll shoot across the sky
Then we’ll shoot across the
Then we’ll shoot across the sky
Then we’ll shoot across the (then we’ll shoot)
Then we’ll shoot across the sky
Then we’ll shoot across the
Then we’ll shoot across the sky

Oh, angels sent from up above
You know you make my world light up
When I was down, when I was hurt
You came to lift me up
Life is a drink and loves a drug
Oh, now I think I must be miles up
When I was all withered, dried up
You came to rain a flood
Cause you drink from me, drink from me
When I was so thirsty
Pour on a symphony, now I just can’t get enough
Put your wings on me, wings on me
When I was so heavy
Pour on a symphony, when I’m low, low, low, low

song by Coldplay ft. Beyonce
Hymn for the weekend lyrics
[Beyonce:]
Drink from me, drink from me
Then we’ll shoot across the sky
Symphony
Then we’ll shoot across the sky
We’re on a
Drink from me, drink from me
Then we’ll shoot across the sky
Symphony
(So high, so high)
Then we’ll shoot across the sky
[Coldplay:]
Oh, angel sent from up above
You know you make my world light up
When I was down, when I was hurt
You came to lift me up.
Life is a drink, and love’s a drug
Oh, now I think I must be miles up
When I was a river, dried up
You came to rain and flood.
[Coldplay & Beyonce:]
And said drink from me, drink from me
When I was so thirsty
Pour on a symphony
No, I just can’t get enough
Put your wings on me, wings on me
When I was so heavy
Pour on a symphony (for me)
When I’m low, low, low, low
[Coldplay & Beyonce:]
Oh, angel sent from up above
I feel it coursing through my blood
Life is a drink, your love’s about
To make the stars come out
[Coldplay & Beyonce:]
Put your wings on me, wings on me
When I was so heavy
Pour on a symphony (for me)
When I’m low, low, low, low
[Beyonce:]
Then we’ll shoot across the sky
Then we’ll shoot across the
Then we’ll shoot across the sky
Then we’ll shoot across the
Then we’ll shoot across the sky
Then we’ll shoot across the
Then we’ll shoot across the sky
Then we’ll shoot across the

Let me get this straight, you read the lyrics and you still thought this song was about getting high off of literal drugs and alcohol? You’re kidding, right?
«Life is a drink, and love’s a drug»
The whole song is about someone lifting you up like an angel hence Beyonce’s role in it.
The fact that you talk about enjoying analyzing songs then fail so miserably with this one gave me a chuckle.
My Opinionnot the usual Coldplay stuff indeed but not necessarily less than everything they’ve put out so far. i particularly enjoy this song and find it beautiful. you know why? this is a happy song, a celebration of feeling fine in a great interpretation. sure there is drink and drug in the lyrics but you know what music is about. you interpret it the way you want, every people is affected differently by music. for me this line says it all: «life is a drink, and love’s a drug» i feel high and drunk without drinks or drugs, you’re here to uplift me and make me happy.
to sum up, Chris might have wanted to write a a hardcore party song but it turned out to be a hymn for the weekend. don’t be so negative, people, and believe in Coldplay. they know what they’re doing.
General CommentPer Chris Martin:
«The original kernel was that I was listening to Flo Rida or something, and I thought, it’s such a shame that Coldplay could never have one of those late-night club songs, like “Turn Down for What.” What would we call it if we had one? I thought I’d like to have a song called “Drinks on Me” where you sit on the side of a club and buy everyone drinks because you’re so f—ing cool. I was chuckling about that, when this melody came—“drinks on me, drinks on me”—then the rest of the song came out. I presented it to the rest of the band and they said, “We love this song, but there’s no way you can sing ‘drinks on me.’” So that changed into “drink from me” and the idea of having an angelic person in your life. Then that turned into asking Beyoncé to sing on it.»
When first hearing this song, I loved it. The bass, the tone changes, everything. I thought it was odd that Coldplay would be putting out a song about drinking but upon listening to the lyrics, it’s pretty obvious that it isn’t about the typical way you talk about getting drunk and high.
The thing I really love is just how it ends up feeling like an explosion of love and happiness. It feels like a love song but it’s something that you can dance to and just feel euphoric when you’re with that one person that lifts you up, smiling next to you. I also like that the video follows this theme.
For me, this song feels like Paradise. Both songs are immersive and both remind me that there are angels and paradise somewhere to be found (even if just in your dreams).

Hymn For The Weekend (feat. Beyoncé)
[Beyoncé]
Drink from me, drink from me
(Oh, ah, oh, ah)
That we shoot across the sky
Symphony
Pour on a
That we shoot across the sky
Drink from me, drink from me
(Oh, ah, oh, ah)
That we shoot across the sky
Symphony
So high, so high
That we shoot across the sky
[Chris Martin]
Oh, angel sent from up above
You know you make my world light up
When I was down, when I was hurt
You came to lift me up
Life is a drink and love’s a drug
Oh, now, I think I must be miles up
When I was a river dried up
You came to rain a flood
[Chris Martin & Beyoncé]
You said: Drink from me, drink from me
When I was so thirsty
Poured on a symphony
Now, I just can’t get enough
Put your wings on me, wings on me
When I was so heavy
Poured on a symphony
When I’m low, I’m low, I’m low, I’m low
[Chris Martin]
I, oh, I, oh, I
Got me feeling drunk and high
So high, so high
Oh, I, oh, I, oh, I
Now, I’m feeling drunk and high
So high, so high
[Chris Martin & Beyoncé]
Oh, angel sent from up above
I feel you coursing through my blood
Life is a drink and your love’s about
To make the stars come out
Put your wings on me, wings on me
When I was so heavy
Poured on a symphony
When I’m low, I’m low, I’m low, I’m low
[Chris Martin]
I, oh, I, oh, I
Got me feeling drunk and high
So high, so high
Oh, I, oh, I, oh, I
Now I’m feeling drunk and high
So high, so high
[Beyoncé & Chris Martin]
I, oh, I, oh, I
La, la, la, la, la, la, la
So high, so high
I, oh, I, oh, I
Now, I’m feeling drunk and high
So high, so high
[Beyoncé]
That we shoot across the sky
That we shoot across the
That we shoot across the sky

1 TOP RATED
I think the song basically tells about the man who feels happy that he has a awesome woman who always helps him out whenever he needs helps, just like an angel. The man also knows that without her love, his love is just nothing. Then, the word ‘drunk’ and ‘high’, in my opinion, represent about how the mans feels too much happy because of the woman.
My interpretation of this song is that he feels really alone and is in a dark place before meeting her, she uplifts him and guides him towards the light. I think they met by fate; everything was being led to them meeting each other and they both needed each other; they were each other’s missing piece. She helped him like no one ever could she led him towards light out of darkness.
I think it’s about meeting someone unexpectedly during a low point in your life and finding them uplifting you and motivating you to do better in life but also finding that they make you a better person in the process.
I think this song is unique. its like he is addicted to his woman.
The man is so in love..very happy with the love of his woman.
I think they were just jamming while creating it. And simply explained that feelings in the first words came on their mind. Musicians do it a lot
I think that «Life is a dream and loves a drug» refers to how this:
A dream is a land where nothing is truly there right? Well how do you know that we are not in a dream. Thus our lives would be dreams. Loves a drug refers to how love makes you feel. High, happy, elated. So thus I think this song is about how this girls love came to rain a flood of happiness when he was dried up. (Tired, done, depressed.ectra) so this is obviously a love song!
This is a deep song. The meaning of the «high» in this song is not about being high while using drugs. I believe the singer feels elated. He is in high spirits when he is with his lady. I think he feels that he can face any problems or storms in life knowing that he is loved and supported by his lady. He feels he can get or reach anything in life. Like what you said in the hit song by Jason Derulo, the «high» means a different thing too and not about drugs.
An interpreter of songs
This is the ONE song I have no clue about.
The music video seems to be some kind of festival set in a foreign country, yet the song seems to be about a lady who is always there to help. Another thing that gets me is that one part of the song reads «Life is a drink and love’s a drug.». It later states «You’ve got me feeling drunk and high. Most people would say this is a reference to the earlier statement of drink and drugs. I honestly agree, but others could argue that the «high» part could mean something different. I mean, in the hit song «Want To Want Me», one line is «Just the thought of you gets me so high» so the mention of «high» in Hymn For The Weekend could be entirely non-drug related at all, however, the song earlier mentions drugs, so it could mean either.

Oh, angels sent from up above
You know you make my world light up
When I was down, when I was hurt
You came to lift me up
Life is a drink, and love’s a drug
Oh now I think I must be miles up
When I was hurt, withered, dried up
You came to rain a flood
[Coldplay & Beyoncé:]
So drink from me, drink from me
When I was so thirsty
We’re on a symphony
Now I just can’t get enough
Put your wings on me, wings on me
When I was so heavy
We’re on a symphony
When I’m lower, lower, lower, low
[Coldplay:]
Got me feeling drunk and high
So high, so high
I’m feeling drunk and high
So high, so high
[Coldplay & Beyoncé:]
Oh, angels sent from up above
I feel it coursing through my blood
Life is a drink, your love’s about
To make the stars come out
[Coldplay & Beyoncé:]
Put your wings on me, wings on me
When I was so heavy
We’re on a symphony
When I’m lower, lower, lower, low
[Coldplay:]
Got me feeling drunk and high
So high, so high
I’m feeling drunk and high
So high, so high
[Beyoncé & Coldplay:]
So high, so high
I’m feeling drunk and high
So high, so high
