PlayStation Portable (PSP) is a handheld game console developed and marketed by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was first released in Japan on December 12, 2004, in North America on March 24, 2005, and in PAL regions on September 1, 2005, and is the first handheld installment in the PlayStation line of consoles. As a seventh generation console, the PSP competed with the Nintendo DS.
Development of the PSP was announced during E3 2003, and the console was unveiled at a Sony press conference on May 11, 2004. The system was the most powerful portable console when it was introduced. The PSP’s advanced graphics capabilities made it a popular mobile entertainment device, which could connect to the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3, any computer with a USB interface, other PSP systems, and the Internet. The PSP also had a vast array of multimedia features such as video playback, and has been considered a portable media player as well. The PSP is the only handheld console to use an optical disc format, which is called Universal Media Disc (UMD) as its primary storage medium; both games and movies have been released on the format.
The PSP was received positively by critics, and sold over 80 million units during its ten-year lifetime. Several models of the console were released, before the PSP line was succeeded by the PlayStation Vita. Hardware shipments of the PSP ended worldwide in 2014; production of UMDs ended when the last Japanese factory producing them closed in late 2016.

Setting
The game is in the distant future 2050. Technological advancement has revolutionized in the franchise’s universe, and recently even further with the newest invention of the Fortified Cardboard. As the cardboards took distributing and manufacturing to higher levels above its own time, the greatest purpose would be serving as small arenas for the halted sales of the dangerous hobby model, the LBX (Little Battler eXperience). With the models back on the stock shelves, its popularity begin to skyrocket, becoming kid’s everyday favorite hobby. However, there lurks a great darkness within this bright future, whose ambition to conquer the world is powerful even among government authority. Only one boy holds the hope necessary to save the world.
The year 2050, Ban Yamano is an average middle schooler who loves LBXs, but couldn’t have one due to his mother’s banning after the death of his father 5 years ago. One day when he was returning home, he comes across a mysterious woman who hands him a metal briefcase saying it is the key to both «hope» and «despair» for all humanity. He returns home to discover the contents in the briefcase, an LBX model named «AX-00» that has never been seen in the sales catalogs. Then he get ambushed by a mysterious LBX legion, leaving Ban no choice but to fight back using the AX-00. Ban manages to fend them off, but finds himself repeatedly battling those who would seek to capture the AX-00.
Together with his classmates, Ami Kawamura and Kazuya Aoshima; they fight off the enemies later confirmed as the Innovators. Led by a public governmental dictator, this mysterious organization whose agendas for global domination involves the hidden key item inside the LBX model. Soon, Ban will come across many friends and rivals from his LBX battles to accompany him in the fight against the organization. Teaming up with Hanzou Gouda, Daiki Sendou, and the mysterious transfer student, Jin Kaidou; they join the anti-terrorist organization called the Seekers, led by Takuya Uzaki, the younger brother of the CEO of the world’s top LBX maker. As the fight against the Innovators continues, Ban would discover the true nature of the LBXs, including the reason for his father’s disappeance.

What is Danball Senki BOOST?
Danball (as it’s usually referred to) is a toy robot fighter. Think Medabots but smaller or Custom Robo but controlled via cellphones.
As of November 20, 2013 project was cancelled. The author did post a link on his forum of all the project files for anyone to download if they would wish to continue on the project.

Summary: I’ve beaten the main story 3 times, once in the original game, once in Boost and 3rd time for Boost New Game+. I started a Baku Boost run but did not complete, will probably finish it sometime in the future when I have the time and GREAT URGE to come back to it, which will happen at some point for sure. Overall, I know that Baku Boost is pretty much an absolute port of Boost on PSP with the addition of… one LBX that doesn’t make much of a difference? I don’t even remember anymore.
As usual, LEVEL-5 proves itself to be an awesome GAME company rather than being in the background staff for producing anime. Unfortunately, most non-Japanese-speakers tend to be limited by only getting exposure from their anime and assuming that’s all there is to the company. Never ever.
Story: 9. This story is Pres Hino allllll the way. XD; He has this amazing gift of taking something people think is just silly or simply out of this world, and he can make it into something that translates into every aspect of life, regardless of age, gender or any other borders. Only thing is, too many people judge entirely based on starting appearances, which this series doesn’t have much going for. But Level-5 isn’t to be underestimated. 
I won’t spoil here, but if you look at my spoiler screenshot gallery and are familiar enough with the Inazuma series, it just makes more things to enjoy about this series. Ahahaha.
Characters: 8. There’s a good range of kids and adults involved in this story, but the character development doesn’t get anywhere as near as it does for the Inazuma Eleven series. Which is sad, because the character artwork in this game is the best I’ve seen from Level-5. Instead, there’s a lot more focus on story, plot turns and such and such. Still, there are some nice moments, and I’ve taken a liking to all of the characters by the end.
And me being the fangirl I am have taken a particular liking to the guys. The girls are totally awesome too, and all in all it’s just an enjoyable cast. With some pretty good shipping fodder if you pay enough attention, yes yes.
Graphics: 10. For a PSP game, I have very few qualms about the 3D, and I REALLY like having the anime portraits for the main cutscenes. The towns are beautifully detailed and have a unique sense of design to it all.

Sound: 10. The music just gets better as the story progresses, and by the end, the main orchestral theme resonates really well with me and brings the story home.
Cutscenes are about 70% voiced. I’ve yet to see a fully voiced game from Level-5, but the choices for scenes to voice in this game are just fine, since I know they’ll probably flesh out the unvoiced scenes in the anime version anyway.
Gameplay: 9. Beat the main storyline in 30 hours, but I also wasted quite a few hours just doing sidequests and optional tournaments before doing so. Someone on a crazy l33t speed run could probably do this in 10 hours. Certain battles are tons of fun, some are just troublesome, and there are definite flaws with the AI, but I’ll get into this all later XD;
You can fight with up to 3 characters per battle, but by condition there are also many 1 and 2 character battles. You control one fighter at a time, and you can change among your party members mid-battle, during pauses. Changing the party lead also changes who you get to walk around the world maps with
Battles consist of being able to equip two types of weapons and switching them around in battle easily. There are One-handed + shield and two-handed melee weapons, and guns all have a great deal of variety within them. Guns do more damage the farther away the target is, which is great for implementing terrain strategy. There are also tons of hissatsu (sure-kill) techniques to get comfortable with and make cool finishes for bonus item drops.

A huge aspect of this game is customization. Since I’m not a mech fan, I won’t say much about this except that it’s probably amazing for a mech fan. 
I pretty much stuck with the storyline models unless I had to change for sidequests and such.
There’s a long list of sidequests available in this game, but as far as I can see, NONE of them are required to go through the main storyline except maybe the first, very easy one. That’s a good thing, because some of the sidequests are just really troublesome and take up too much time. Some of them ARE useful for getting quick cash, however. And there are others that unlock certain hissatsu moves and rare items.
Improvements I would’ve liked (from the original game, see changes for Boost later):
-Better AI, at least for crossing obstacles in the terrains. Many times, your ally players will just struggle getting around a mountain in between them and the enemies, and they’ll end up reaching the enemy like 30 seconds after you do.
-More event skipping options. It was good to have the Pause + Square for animated and full cutscenes, but there weren’t any options for scenes when you have to go through dialogue one by one. Some bosses have long sequences before them that I would’ve liked to skip. XD
-Faster world map traveling options (some of the places are just HUGE and take forever to get from one place to another. Inazuma series doesn’t have this problem since all of the town maps are small enough to traverse relatively quickly, and in Inazuma 3DS you can change maps at almost any time)
-Would like to get Core Parts configuration save options (this is added in Boost!)
-An option to automatically refill battle items instead of having to restock them manually after each battle when they’re used
-Would’ve liked some BBS quests to actually contribute to main character development instead of just being a bunch of NPCs talking. Although many of the NPCs have dialogue that contribute to creating the world atmosphere, I wish there was more focus on the main characters.
Replay Value: 10. This game was totally built with long-term and online play in mind, as expected of Level-5. There are hundreds and hundreds of LBX models, weapons, core parts to collect and level, and lots of good things happen if you use co-op play.
Instead of forcing multiple gameplays, clearing the main storyline opens up the full line of everything in the game (besides online download content of course), including sidequests, super weapons/parts, optional tournaments, and a huge range of new challenges overall. Even random enemy encounters get a huge level boost to bring in new challenges. (This is slightly different for Boost because multiple gameplays ARE required to get the additional LBXs, but it’s not so much of a big deal because many things are automatically carried over, see below about Boost for more detail)
Overall: 10. I’m throwing it this score and not likely changing it, because I just can’t overlook the amount of great work put into this game no matter how much I don’t care for mecha. As for people who aren’t playing this game because they think it’s targeted only for people under 10 years old, go **** yourselves because you’re missing out on one of the best RPGs for the PSP ever. 😀
So here’s a title I really hope comes to the US… Level-5 needs more exposure overseas, and this is one that could really show off how awesome they are as long as they don’t change names and storyline for “localization” reasons, and if they market it right >_>;

With the Boost version, the full 10 score is only reinforced! While not all of my tiny nitpickings were accounted for in Boost, major additions and improvements to the Boost version just make it far more superior of a game \o/
Boost changes! (according to wiki
-LBX parts can be sold altogether (per part category, eg you can sell all the leg parts, or all the arm parts at once, after checking off every part on your list)
-Customizations can be SAVED with the “My Set” feature (up to 20 sets)
-Use L/R buttons to switch between part locations during customization (instead of having to go back a menu every time)
-Max AC up to 200 (from 100)
-Equipment bug fix for the story in certain chapters.
Boost additions:
-10 playable characters added (clear request mission for each character after clearing the game)
-Addition of special characteristics for each chara
-New LBXs
-Double-hand gun usage (have to be the same one, and compatible with double-hand
-New Finishing Functions
-Larger Battlefields
-Addition to auto battle functions (I never use this XD)
-Episode 0 (prelude to Danball Senki W)
-100 LBX cards added
-Additional quests
-Additionals to Underground Ranking (including big bosses)
-Compatibility with original Danball Senki for battling (can’t use Boost exclusives, obviously. Also cannot do ranking battle with original Danball Senki)
-Can start a new game using original Danball Senki save (only brings over battle record, LBX index, LBX cards, passwords, and download content. Everything else is reset)
-A 2nd play with Boost save!! The game will start at hard mode, I assume meaning all the enemy levels are higher as they are postgame. (Additions to save file. Brings over ranking battle, character lvl, skill levels, Credits/money, wifi points, shop contents, Finishing Functions, equipped LBX parts, playable characters you’ve obtained. In other words, be sure to sell off all your other LBX parts and items before starting a 2nd Boost game!

Various differences between game and anime (spoilers galore):
-Game: The game explains that Lex is 28 years old and his “past” happened when he was 10. He and Takuya met in college.
-Game: No hints to the final baddie until he’s revealed (props to the game on this one, imo)
-Game: Kaidou Yoshimitsu has more personality in the second half of the game (also relative to plot)
-Game: There are scenes with each of the individual 6 main players before the final mission. In the anime, they only briefly flashback the one with Ban and his mother. Ami’s is really touching, she calls her mom and asks her to make her favorite dish for dinner. Kazu goes to the games store and asks the owner to reserve a copy of the upcoming Bio Awards game (lolol), and the owner is shocked because Kazu knows the store has a policy of no reserves, and Kazu is always considerate to line up for the game. But she makes an exception for Kazu this time. Jin visits his room one “last” time and talks with the butler. Gouda hangs out with his gang, and Sendou does some self-reflection.
-Game: Yagami doesn’t even bother trying to convince the Innovators until the moment when it’s pretty apparent.
-Game: More reflection from Lex while Ban has his way with Saturn. “Takuya, you were always right. About having Ban and the others join you.” “Your one mistake was having me as a friend.” T________T; My fujoshi ships Lex/Takuya so hard.
-Game: The final explosion is VERY conclusive. In the anime, the clouds cover it up before we see anything crucial. I guess you still see a very big explosion, so it’s just as conclusive. But still. XD;

Perseus in the Senshiman custom figure box
Ban teaching Hiro how to control Perseus properly Perseus first appeared in W-Episode 01, where it was found in the limited edition Space Hero Senshiman Custom Figure box. Hiro tried to use it but couldn’t control it properly. Later, Hiro tried to use it again and managed to control it thanks to Ban’s guidance. Hiro used Perseus again in the Tokio Sia Department Store and managed to destroy some of the rampaging LBXs. In W-Episode 02, Hiro used it to destoy the rampaging Inbit when he was on his way to Seeker Headquarters. Hiro used it again to fight against the rampaging LBXs that were guarding the Seeker Headquarters and unlocked Cosmo Slash for the first time, defeating a large wave of LBX. In W-Episode 03, Hiro sent it out alongside Ban’s Elysion during their trip to Shibuya Town in order to assist Ran and Minerva after she and her friend are attacked by Achilles Deed, Oni Kunoichi, and Hunter Kiba. Perseus uses it’s swords to block Hunter Kiba’s shots to get close. When Minerva distracts Kiba by jumping in the air, Hiro has Perseus slash away the rifle for Minerva to finish the dark Hunter with a dropkick. Perseus joins Elysion and Minerva against Achilles Deed, but the battle ends after Deed activates Demonic Form and shrugs off their attacks. In W-Episode 17, it ends up in a three way battle between Jeanne D and Joker: Billy Custom, but trapped in the minefield. Hiro has enough after struggling what to do and uses Cosmo Slash to just detonate all of the mines in the areas. However, Jeanne D is eliminated as it reaches it. Perseus lunges at Joker: Billy Custom, blocking its gun shots with sword swings. Thinking it has the perfect opportunity, Perseus attempt at a strong slash is intercepted by Billy Custom using its guns as a shield against its Perseus Swords. It starts to chase Joker again but is forced to block as its momentum decreases while running and blocking. The number of bullets starts pushing Perseus back, and the recoil eventually knocks the Perseus Swords out of its hands. In W-Epiosde 23, it battles Kirito’s Hakai-O with Ryubei and Jeanne D. However, it was defeated because of Hiro’s lack of focus during the battle, leaving Perseus wide open for being attacked. Perseus was then repaired and remodeled alongside Elysion and Minerva. My idea’s also convenient for the translation of descriptions of other parts since they use the exact same description except for instead of leg part it’s head part. Here are a few examples. 1st one is the near direct translation, 2nd one is my version.

Hence I think they’re going for Rex, which means reigning king. Though it comes down to whether Crash wants to use Lex or Rex. He has final say. Gameplay
The year 2051, one year after the final battle against the Innovators. Peace has returned thanks to the world’s newest hobby, the Little Battle Experience (LBX for short). Ban Yamano, is now a popular LBX Champion across the globe amongst the LBX battle population. But the peace doesn’t last long as a new terrorist organization called the Detector threatens the world by brainjacking LBXs.
With his LBX Odin destroyed and Ami and Kazuya mysteriously abducted, Ban gets a new LBX, Elysion and joins up with the karate-girl, Ran Hanasaki and the arcade-otaku, Hiro Oozora to fight against this new threat. Following the battle towards N-City, they meet up with Jessica Kaios, Jin Kaidou and a fully recuperated Yuuya Haibara.
As the battle against the Detector continues, a new hidden evil comes to light after discovering the true nature of the Detector’s terrorist acts. And what hidden potential lies within the newcomer, Hiro.
Overload
Description
Overload is an extrasensory ability inherent to humans. It can be described as a state of hyper-focused attention and energy that enhances one’s performance and where the full extent of their talent can be expressed. This neurological phenomenon occurs when a human subject experiences intense stress. This triggers noticeable physical changes in the subject, most notably are the contraction of the eyes along with iridescence around the edges of the irises. When activated the subjects usual experiences drastic increases in sensory perceptions, coordination and reflexes, to the extent that the observable environment appears to progress in slow motion to them. This allows them to operate their LBX as an extension of themselves.
Yet, with its many advantages, the Overload carries numerous, potentially hazardous, symptoms due to the tremendous strain placed on the brain. Individuals will encounter severe neurological fatigue due to the rapid consumption of glucose by the brain (an issue Jin Kaidou addresses with the consumption of candy). Though not directly harmful, an individual’s normal sensory functions can be altered or elevated. In the case of Arata Sena, he experienced one reported episode of heightened auditory perception in which he was able to clearly detect the approach of multiple people from the far end of a hallway while inside a closed classroom. However, the greatest among the potential symptoms is the heightened possibility of death due to the irregular, hyper-stimulation of the brain.
These factors aside, in a conversation with Hikaru Hoshihara, Jin speculated that an average person could possibly acquire the Overload ability with proper training, though presented no evidence to support this idea.
Danball Senki Series
Danball Senki (ダンボール戦機, Danbōru Senki lit. «Cardboard Battle Chronicles») is a 2011 Japanese anime series produced by Level-5 under the direction of Naohito Takahashi. The series has been based on the plastic-model-building role-playing game.
The series has been aired on TV Tokyo since March 2, 2011. Dentsu Entertainment USA has also confirmed that they have licensed the Little Battlers eXperience (Danball Senki) anime in the U.S, though there’s no word on a set airdate.

Manga
The manga has been based from the game and anime series. It is currently written by Hideaki Fujii and has been published Shogakukan in the popular monthly magazine CoroCoro Comic from February 2011 until January 2012. There is also a second version also named Danball Senki W. It is released from February 2012 and is currently ongoing. The manga counts 3 volumes.

A translation for the game Danball Senki BOOST (PSP).
What is Danball Senki BOOST?
Danball (as it’s usually referred to) is a toy robot fighter. Think Medabots but smaller or Custom Robo but controlled via cellphones.
Why are you translating this?
I love Level-5 (developer) games. I already had a huge amount of luck with their Gundam AGE game and this has also proven to be pretty easy to work with. Also because we don’t know when the the official release is coming out.
What all are you translating?
Right now we’re working the items, parts, menus, and descriptions. Just the things you NEED to play the game. After that we’ll start work on the story and other dialogues (e-mails, reports, etc.).

Glad you asked! Here ya go! Don’t be afraid to ask if you get stuck. Also if a blank Command Prompt shows up, let it sit for a while. These tools can take time.

Go right ahead. Here’s a folder containing 90% of the games images. You’ll need to use the above tools to decode/encode the images again once you’re done with them.

Use Wikipedia to find the Katakana (Or Hirigana) and then copy/paste those into Google Translate in the order which they appear on the image. Google should give you a rough translation of what it says. If you’re not sure that’s right, post it here and I’ll let you know.

So I’ve just about lost all interest in translating Danball. I quit working about 3 months back and just haven’t messed with anything since. With the anime being licensed I’m more than certain the games aren’t far behind for 3DS and PSV. If anyone wants the tools to continue they’re attached above. They make translation incredibly easy and you can translate the entire game with said tools if you’re willing to put the time and work in.
I’m sorry if this disappoints anyone in anyway. I’ve just lost all interest and don’t care about Danball anymore. That isn’t to say if someone wanted my help I wouldn’t offer it. I’d be more than glad to assist someone if they continued our work.

Danball Senki это телесериал, который уже не однократно был взят за идею в видеоиграх с разной степенью успеха. Эта серия рассказывает историю мальчика, который делал роботов из картона, которые неожиданно оживают.

You can get the files that I translated from the previous page, IIRC. It’s an attachment to my post. As a matter of fact, all of my uploads are as attachments to my posts so you can just check my posts if you want to see everything that I’ve uploaded.
I gave it a look and though you did well to recognise the difference between tsu and shi, you still haven’t looked up the convention regarding katakana small letters. For example, you had マッドドッグ as Matsudodotsugu and then give Mad Dog in brackets. While you figured out that it’s Mad Dog, you still wrote Matsudodotsugu to sound it out which shows that you haven’t quite grasped it yet.
Another example is オーディーン where you wrote it as Odein to sound it out and figured out that it means Odin. Now, normally if it’s a big ィ then Oodeiin (double letters to signify that you elongate the sound) would be right but because it’s a small ィ then the ‘De’ becomes ‘Di’ so it’s sounded out as «Oodiin» which is Odin.
Also, a tip. When they use Katakana for foreign words, sometimes it’s good to use google (not google translate) if you don’t know what it refers to. For Danball, you can use the wiki to reference the names, since that was what you were doing.
Don’t worry though. You’re still learning so it’s okay. I’ll give the file that you uploaded a go through and fix any mistakes and translate the Kanji You can download it an compare when I upload it

Background
It first debuted in Episode 1 along with Orvane and Val Sparos before its official debut in Episode 4. It was delivered to Reina Mito by an unknown person, and then presented to the First Platoon because their LBXs were heavily damaged. Since then, it remained as Arata Sena’s main LBX and part of the First Platoon’s forces.
In Episode 21, Arata activate his Overload and managed to defeat Gruxeon. However, Dot Phasor’s right arm and one of its eyes got damaged after defeating Gruxeon with Z-Lance.
In Episode 23, it was officially transferred to the Fourth Platoon, given to Yuno Kashima after Arata received his new Dot Blastrizer.

Cleared the game on the PSP before I started the Vita version (in less than 30 hours)! Lots of screenshots and stuff up. My Vita version finally arrived on November 6 (and congrats Obama!! What a memorable day).
Grinding on this game post-story is a whole ton easier than Boost, which is GREAT. I finally can actually get characters and parts to level 200 without playing hundreds of ridiculous hours.
Just to clear things up early on, and I cannot stress this enough:
PLAY DANBALL SENKI BOOST (or Baku Boost) BEFORE PLAYING THIS GAME. Even if you’ve watched the anime, you should still play the original game first. The original game experience is unique in itself. I dare say the experience of the original game is just better overall at this point, even if W has lots of great new features to it.

Graphics: 10. As the game was dual developed to play on the Vita as well, the graphics have definitely improved from the original game. Most of the characters have new face models as well as outfits, and many of the new areas are much wider than the first game.
And while I miss the wonderful interlude illustrations between chapters, there’s still a good load of AMAZING illustrations as the story is told. I really like the artists involved in Danball Senki!!
Sound: 10. Need I say? The music was epic already in the original game. It continues to be epic with more of Kondou Rei’s wonderful compositions. Needs more appreciation!! They better release another soundtrack, with the MULTIPLE CDs that they need to cover all the great music they haven’t covered yet for the series. RELEASE THEM SO YOU CAN HAZ MY MONEY, LEVEL-5
*post note* Welp, they’re releasing an OST for W (YAY. ) but once again it’s only 1 disc… Plus there are lots more opening/endings this season which will waste precious disc running time…….. I ordered the CD of course but I’m EXTREMELY BITTER that it’s only one disc.

Aside from actual battle system changes, the most significant difference is the “dungeon” progression, in which all of the dungeons pretty much look the same now where you just go panel to get to the next area. An obvious cop-out to building actual new areas, but then it probably wouldn’t fit on a single PSP UMD anymore.
In-depth for the game, I like the new auxiliary parts they’ve added, it makes for much more interesting/challenging customizations.
Personally, since I follow the anime weekly, I was a little nervous that they’d try to incorporate the “Riding Sousa” into the gameplay and I’m actually glad they didn’t. XD And then come to think of it, they never incorporated Odin’s aircraft mode into the gameplay either except for a Finishing Function. It seems they’ll implement an aircraft transformation in battle with an upcoming DLC LBX though…
The new ally AI options:
おまえにまかせる (Free judgment) – Default AI, character is free to use any commands
ガンガンつっこめ (Keep charging through) – Character focuses on close-range and whatever opponent is closest (even with long-range weapons, they’ll go up close)
はなれてたたかえ (Keep your distance and fight) – Character focuses on long-range and keeps a distance to fight. If they don’t have any long-range weapons, then they will do a tighter job of using recovery items.
しゅうちゅこうげき (Concentrated attack) – Character will attack same target as you.
アイテムをつかうな (Don’t use items) – Same as “Free judgment” except they don’t use items
Replay Value: Unlike Boost, there doesn’t seem to be a new game+ with boosted levels. Too bad, but the post-game is amazing enough anyway.
Overall: 10. I really do want to give this game an undoubtful 10 for a full bump, but there are a considerable amount of bugs still yet to be fixed. I can only hope they get to them before the official tournament in March.
I blame Tri-Ace more than Level-5 for the bugs, but either way they better fix them.
