«Good stop»
The location of this hotel is both fantastic and unfortunate. The hotel is right in the center so close to everything, however this means is also very loud. We spent two sleepiness nights there. The windows are singles and the noise is bad. The room itself is big and spacious, however is quite outdated and the floors creeking. You can easily hear other people in their rooms walking and talking. The restaurant is fantastic. Breakfast is delicious and fast and the staff very polite. The view is also breathtaking. Staff at the hotel is very polite and respectful
«run away! worst hotel ever»
I took the most expensive room. the view from the windows is breathtaking and. that’s all. no air conditioner (not even a fan), very old furniture, no mini-bar, super old bed and bathroom, very noisy. Paid for 3 nights and, as soon as I went up to my room, I decided to leave. glad they gave me a full refund.
«Amazing view from the balcony»
I’d go back again and again. The room we stayed in was okay, nothing super fancy, but the location was amazing and the view was breath taking. We arrived late, past midnight, and felt very safe. Our room was reasonably priced as well.
«Beautiful but NOT a worth it»
This hotel is in a beautiful location over looking the zocalo. The building and architecture amazing. It is a shame that all this beauty goes out the window with a careless staff, that gave our room to someone else in the middle of the night while we were sleeping, they say they scheduled our COVID tests but no one shows up even an hour later, and just a minor detail if you like hard lumpy pillows and a bed this place is for you. And finally they re schedule the COVID test and still no one shows up. In the end we gave up and moved to the Grand around the corner and they were amazing.

Good place to stay in CDMX. Staff, especially Jose, very helpful. Note that you will be surprised to learn that breakfast is not included. Also be aware that Internet does not work in the room but does work in the lobby. A real inconvience.
I will start with the positives. The hotel is directly adjacent from Zocalo and it’s a great location, the hotel entrance is on the side. The hotel is very clean, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. It also has a restaurant on the 7th floor with a great view of Zocalo for the greatest pictures. Some things to be aware of is taxis/Uber cannot pull directly up to the hotel you are dropped of a block away and must walk to the hotel. There is no air conditioning in the rooms, I would recommend the hotel provide a fan for each room. Zocalo can be noisy at times but you are in the center of everything within walking distance. Going up and down the elevator requires a hotel attendant because hotel guests are forbidden from operating the elevator because it’s old. The building has allot of old world charm. Overall, my stay was very good and I would stay against

«Wonderful hotel central to all the historic sites»
We stayed 4 nights at this hotel and it was amazing! Right on the plaza with unbelievable views. Hotel is historic and beautiful. Rooms are all on an interior atrium area so recommended staying on floor 3 or higher for better privacy. Events in the plaza can be very loud. We had an interior room and a sound machine so we were fine. All the action is literally just outside the door. Shopping, food, the cathedral, temple mayor and tons more just a walk away. Staff was super friendly. Rooftop restaurant was great. If you like history, stay here.

«Mexico city Square»
Found this hotel quite affordable and in an awesome location. The bus boys, bar staff and restaurant staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The cleanliness of the hotel was at a high standard and the cleaning ladies did a terrific job. We had booked two rooms for two couples. One had the outside room, which had a room overlooking the main square which was quite noisy but the view made up for it. The other room was an inside room, which had a view looking into the hotel. The view wasn’t great but it was very quiet and peaceful. All in all we had a great time in Mexico city and the hotel was everything we needed and wanted. The roof terrace was awesome and the food quality was high. We ate here most nights. The staff had a wealth of information about Mexico city that others will find very valuable for their own stay.

«An old fashioned hotel in a fabulous location «
Right on the main square this was a lovely hotel the rooms were spacious with plenty of wardrobe space. The restaurant on the top floor had great views. The staff were very helpful. The bathroom had lovely toiletries and a hairdryer.

Honestly I’m struggling on what to say in this review. We spent 4 nights here. The location couldn’t be more perfect—our balcony room overlooked the Zocalo square; we were 2 blocks from the Templo Mayor; and we walked out the hotel door to Madero Avenue (a major pedestrian street). The hotel itself dates from the 1930s, although we were told the first 2 floors actually date from the 1600s. The hotel is beautiful in a 1930s sort of way, and quaint. (The elevator has an actual operator and doesn’t function unless a staff person is available.) The staff was friendly and helpful, and our room was adequate. But now, here are the things you should know. First, there are no rooms with heating or air conditioning. The Mexico City climate usually doesn’t need this so long as you can open the windows and get air circulation. Here’s the «but», though. Our room opened directly onto the Zocalo—beautiful views. Zocalo is used almost 24 hours a day by everything from the Army to protest groups to festival-goers to music events (and the chants and music and noise often extended well past 10:00pm). We just happened to be there during a week-long festival that included live bands, dancers, drummers, etc. So when we needed to open our balcony doors to get air, then we got all the noise as well as the air. Also, there are very bright lights around the Zocalo as well as lovely ambience lights on all of the surrounding buildings. So if we closed the curtains (to shut out the light), then we also shut out the air. and vice versa. [Note: Some rooms open onto Madero Ave. or the hotel’s atrium, so they wouldn’t have the noise/light/air problem, but they also wouldn’t have the spectacular views. It’s a conundrum.] The hotel has a restaurant and bar on its 7th floor (with the same spectacular views of the Zocalo square). For functionality, our room had no refrigerator, nightstands, or USB plugs. There were a couple of available electric outlets, and the hotel does have wifi. (Mexico uses the same voltages & connections for its electricity as does the USA.) We did have a good television with cable channels (including the USA version of CNN). Our bed was comfortable, and the room was big and clean. Bathroom was large and adequate but not modern at all. So, all in all, would we stay there again? The price was very reasonable for the location, compared to what we would have paid in other cities. There are some other hotels in the area (but not necessarily right on the Zocalo); you might want to do some comparison shopping. And if the views, price, location, & appeal of watching all kinds of fascinating activities right from your balcony would offset the light & noise factors, then this would be a good choice.

«Comfortable, cozy old hotel»
Do you have a noise app on your phone? Use it if you are bothered by noise! We stayed here during the time the huge cultural event took place at the Zoloco Center and we closed the windows and used the white noise app. The beds are very comfortable and the staff are exceptionally helpful. BE WARNED. you are given 2 liters of water each day. You will need to buy more just around the corner! We needed water for coffee and for brushing our teeth. This location is exceptional for visiting museums, dining, etc.

«Another great stay at the Majestic»
The prime attraction of this hotel is its location on the Zocalo in the Centro Historico of Mexico City. It is directly across the plaza from the National Palace and the main Cathedral is on another side. We had a large, clean and comfortable room. Staff are great and very helpful. The Terraza restaurant at top has a great breakfast buffet with open air seating overlooking the Zocalo.

«Old need renovation»
Went when my wife for a weekend to see the Zocalo but find out at the hotel what’s kind of old, the electrical plugs did not work to charge my phone elevator did not work at 6 o’clock in the morning The front desk need some renovation. At night it was too noisy you can hear the noise from the outside cannot sleep, we requested a room with a view of the zocalo to find out at night until 4 am we could hear people screaming singing loud noises it was bad.

Thanks for your comments, unfortunately we are a historic hotel so we can not modify the structure of the building, street noise is something we can not control but we try to tell all our guests about that situation with the rooms of the Zocalo.
«Old style, very friendly, great terrace «
We stayed here just for a night and enjoyed our stay. It’s an old, charming place. The beds were very comfortable and we looked directly at the cathedral. Best of all is the great terrace at the 7th floor!

«Horrible ordeal»
I stayed at this property several times forty years ago, however the reviews and advertising I recently read everywhere seem surealistic. Only one thing is true: excellent location. Other than that, what I saw are the ruins of a one time classic hotel in the heart of the Historic Area. At arrival they messed up my updated reservation, the lobby feels gloomy and underlit, once in what was supposed to be a suite disappointment emerged; worn out furniture, cold air drift, no heating, no hand towels, and to boot once I tried to shower the faucets were loose and about to break. In short the next morning I asked for a room change into a standard room where furniture seemed even older and not at all kept up. My patience came to a limit when in the shower quite late at night, again loose faucets but this time the water wouldn´t drain, someone came to try to fix it with a manual rubber pump claiming there was no one else around. At this point I was fed up and decided to check out in the middle of the night. It is a shame that such a beautiful building with a superb location is going to waste.

«An excellent accommodation and location!»
We actually stayed here twice during our visit to Mexico City. Both tines, we received excellent service from the staff. The location near Zocolo Square is perfect for walking to various sites. You can pick up the City your buses nearby and easily walk to some museums. We opted to take a taxi to Museum Frida Kahlo and walk around the nearby markets, The hotel can also arrange visits to the Pyramids as well. The room was cleaned every day. There is also a safe in each room! The downside was the terrace restaurant. It was buffet only. Very pricey and not good at all. We tried it once and didn’t return. Overall, we would highly recommend the Majestic. Thank you to all the staff for making our visit to México City so much fun and relaxing.

Beautiful room in a beautiful historic hotel. Wonderful staff with great advice for navigating this huge, confusing, remarkable city. But if its sleep you want, just remember the Mjaestic is right across from the main square of the a county that loves to celebrate. I My only quibble is the wi-fi signal was weak
«The center of the universe «
According to the Aztecs, the sky, the underworld, and Earth’s 4 cardinal directions all met at the Templo Mayor, which is just off the Zocalo across from the Majestic Hotel. And staying here truly gives you a sense of being in the center of the universe. The restaurant at the top of the hotel offers a commanding view of the entire plaza ringed with 16th century buildings, with the gargantuan Mexican flag flying in the middle. There is an inescapable feeling of history and momentousness here, as though the power and civilization of this amazing city is literally radiating out into the Valley of Mexico and beyond. The hotel is well secured and boasts an elegant 100 year old lobby and an old-timey elevator with an actual operator. The entrance is just off the plaza on Avenida Francisco Madero, a pedestrian-only shopping street that gets quite busy in the evening hours. Our room, 209, fronted right on the plaza and had an awesome balcony where you can waive to throngs of local and international tourists and pretend you’re planning to give a speech. But to me, the Majestic’s true calling card is the upstairs restaurant and its majestic (heh) view of the entire Zócalo. There were 2 significant drawbacks that keep this from being a 5 star review. First the food at the upstairs restaurant was old and boring. Second, the rooms are rather spare and the beds are very hard and move around easily on their wheels. Why this otherwise 4-star hotel offers one star rooms is beyond me. But the bathroom and tub were quite nice and the water pressure and temperature were quite satisfactory. This is not a hotel for people looking for something flashy and modern with all the creature comforts. It was perfect for someone like me who loves the bustle of a real city and feeling the layers of past civilizations who shared this same space and considered it the center of the world.
«Perfect location»
Best Western Hotel Majestic is the best located hotel in CDMX (MEXICO CITY). Beautiful baroc style building. We stayed in suite looking over the Zocalo square. Polite and helpful staff. Clean rooms. The only one disadvantage is that according to location, the hotel is a litle bit noisy. I can reccomend this hotel both for bussiness stay and for exploring the city.
«Nice hotel, but very noisy «
The location is excellent and the room was clean. We were part of a RV Caravan tour and the hotel claimed that we didn’t have a reservation despite our email confirmation. After a lengthy negotiation they gave us the 3 rooms we had reserved. Our room was on the 3rd floor above the street and was extremely noisy so we didn’t get to sleep until 4 AM. It would be a simple upgrade to add seals to the windows and make them soundproof.

The hotel is in the very centre of the city. It is not new but has a soul. One can not expect all modern amenities but it is not one of «all the same in the world cubicles» to sleep in. Yes it is run down, yes it is noisy, yes it has no air-condition but it has a great rooftop restaurant with a stunning view on the cathedral and we loved our sty there
«Loud, Uncomfortable, and Unorganized»
Traveling as a party of four adults and one baby, we checked into two rooms at the Best Western Majestic in Mexico City for 6 nights. We chose the hotel primarily for its location in the Centro Historico so that we could watch the Dia de los Muertos parade which goes through the city center. Although the lobby and general architecture of the building itself is interesting and unique, the hotel is in need of major renovations (as other reviewers have already pointed out). The rooms are very basic, the beds are far too hard, and the bathrooms desperately need upgrades such as installing fans (you can only crack a window at the moment and we found that sometimes putrid smells came in from outside) and fixing the plumbing (the shower was constantly switching from scalding hot to freezing cold and sometimes the water coming out was yellowish). The heritage windows are paper-thin, allowing every noise from the streets below into your room making it especially difficult to sleep at night (even with earplugs). However, our biggest complaint about the hotel would be the lack of organization from the front desk staff. When we booked the hotel online we indicated that we would be checking in around midnight (due to a late flight) and also asked to have a crib in one of our rooms for our daughter. We confirmed these details via email with the hotel a few days before arrival and were assured that neither point would be an issue. When we arrived around 11:30 pm our two rooms were ready, but the front desk told us that they didn’t have a crib handy and that they needed to locate one. They said it would be brought up to our room within 10 minutes. About an hour later we were still waiting for the crib and after a long day of traveling our daughter was desperate for sleep (our rooms only contained single beds so we were unable to safely put her to sleep in one of our beds for the time being). By approximately 1 am the staff had found the crib but informed us that one of the collapsible sides of the crib frame was broken. My husband then proceeded to try to fix the broken crib with the front desk staff. By about 2 am we gave up with trying to fix the crib and had no other choice but to use it as it was. The next day we asked the front desk again to fix the crib, but they didn’t send anyone to fix it until we were able to speak with the manager two days after we had checked in. The manager ended up offering us our first night free for the trouble. The disorganization of this hotel seems to be on another level entirely. We also requested a couple of extra towels for our room (traveling with a baby!) and often had to go back down to the front desk to pick them up as no one brought them to our room for several hours. Despite all this, we did find the housekeeping staff to be friendly and helpful, however, I would not recommend any travelers of any age to book this hotel. There are simply too many other properties in Mexico City that far exceed the quality of the Best Western Majestic. Don’t waste your time and money.

Двуспальная кровать была очень большой, много подушек. Душ отличный, сильный напор. Оказывается, мы могли получить халат и тапочки, но нужно было сказать об этом на ресепшн. На завтрак очень хороший выбор: хлопья, выпечка, местные пирожные, горячие блюда (сосиски, хот-доги). Мы должны были выезжать в 12 ночи, но смогли остаться в отеле от выезда в аэропорт. До всех достопримечательностей и до аэропорта можно было быстро добраться на общественном транспорте. Рядом с отелем проходит оживленная трасса, но обстановка довольно спокойная.
Вода в раковине в ванной комнате иногда уходила достаточно плохо. В номере есть электрочайник, но в наличии только кофе. Есть мини бар, но настолько маленький, что туда можно положить только маленький пакет молока. Хотелось бы, чтобы в номере был доступен Wi-Fi, но в нашем пакете услуг он был не предусмотрен. В комнате для завтраков следует иметь два тостера, поскольку была очень большая очередь за тостами.

Excellent location 30mins taxi to the airport, nice staff but no heat. and no hot shower in winter. I stayed in the hotel Dec 9 to 12,2019. The building is beautiful. Temperature in Mexico City is around 9 degree celcius at night and cold until noon，but it’s hot between 1pm and 5pm. There is no heat, no air condition in room, it’s really cold at nite. Shower water is not hot enough to have a shower at a cold night. First night around 2am, I was waken up by 2 loud sounds «bang, bang». Then next 2 hours non stop loud sound seemed LRAD. My last night in the hotel, from 11pm to 1am, I can’t sleep because of 30 to 40 sharp loud «Bang» sounds from outside.

Good charming hotel in the heart of Mexico city. Building is old yet maintained okay. Staffs are nice and professional. BUT the staffs at the buffet needs to get the basics right. They wrote the tip even before I checked the bill, which I Crossed out. I had planned to pay with visa so I put aside cash tip separately but he won’t be getting that.

Location, Location, Location. Right in the midst of Historic Mexico City. An older hotel with charm, great staff, a nice buffet breakfast on the top floor looking out to the square. The presidential Palace directly across the square. Close to many great restaurants.

The location is absolutely perfect. Get a balcony room, and you can watch the sunrise over the central plaza and Palace every day. The food is great, and the bar fun to hang out at night. The staff were all lovely, and extremely helpful to noobies to the city. Rooms were comfortable too. Highly recommended.

At first I was a little disappointed. 300 year old building no AC. But even if there would have been AC we wouldn’t have needed it. Had a room with a great view. The zocalo national palace and the cathedral Al visible from our room. Got a good rest.

This is a great hotel. The location is amazing. Had a room overlooking the plaza, it could’t be beat. Of course the World Cup celebrations made everything loud, but that was to be expected. Staff is extremely helpful and the breakfast buffet has the best orange juice. If I go back to Mexico this will be where I stay again.

Located directly across from the National Palace it is difficult to believe this is a Best Western. Our rooms were spacious with a large sitting room and bedroom.the views were amazing because we had a corner room. Because this is a city location in the hub of everything it can be quite noisy, especially at night.

I made the mistake of using this place as my long layover hotel on a late night arrival.
Couldn’t book via 3rd party website due to the early morning hour, so I Uber’d here at 2 AM. The front desk guy gave me a «discount rate» for paying in cash and then took 30 minutes to get my room key. Definitely some shenanigans going on here. I paid more than the rate advertised online, but less than the rate posted at the front desk.
The hotel itself is badly run-down. The area is alright.

Had dinner on the top floor restaurant. The views are amazing. Best place to see the public square in my opinion. You can see the old cathedral and the government buildings. I cannot comment on price as I was treated as part of a work trip and I did nog inquire. The food was very good. I look forward to going here again.

Highly recommend for proximity to the city square and views from rooms. Our second floor corner suite with surreal views of the Cathedral and views from the restaurant and lounge tables on rooftop provided memories for a lifetime.

This is the ideal property to experience the flavour of old Mexico City. An historic property now celebrating its 80th year, its location cannot be beat for a first-time visit to this city being situated overlooking the Zocala (Civic Square) and a short walk from several of the key historical sites and museums (as well as a main Metro station to get to other neighbourhoods). The staff are friendly and always available when needed. a taste of the old character is an elevator operator! Meals can be taken on the open terrace of the roof top restaurant which itself is an attraction, though menu is limited to buffet offerings. The only reason not to stay here is the lack of air conditioning in rooms. This is not a problem through the winter and early spring/late fall but may be of concern in the heat of summer. The hallways and floors are finished in a distinctive Mexican tile and rooms feature hacienda-styled dark wood furniture that matches the hardwood floor. I was upgraded (as a BW Diamond elite) to a room on the top floor overlooking the Square. could not ask for a more perfect view with French terrace doors opening to let in a spring breeze. (However, suggest a room at least one floor lower than the 6th on the Square side of the building as I was awakened by the scraping of chairs being arranged on the restaurant terrace above me.) Also, for light sleepers, there can be activities in the Square throughout weekend evenings but that’s all part of the charm of this part of the city and a reason for staying here! This is not a 5-star hotel in the sense of luxury but rates five stars from me for thoroughly reflecting the essence and charm of the old city.

The location is amazing, right in the middle of the historic district. The staff were courteous, however the experience was tainted by the construction that was going on from 11am until 5pm. The construction was so loud that we almost left the hotel for another one. Luckily the staff moved us to another room that was slightly quieter. I would stay here again granted that there is no construction going on.

I like the hotel in general, right on zocalo square, only minutes walking towards palazio de Vella’s attested, and numerous eating places, also templo mayor and the cathedral and other small churches, now the hotel is a little ventage an outdated and also the building it self dates from the late 1600’s.

We have a balcony room with a view on the Cathedral Metropolitana. We are staying here for 3 days, so we can tour the sites of Old Mexico City! We have waited over 40 years. I really wish we could have done this when we were young.

Fabulous old hotel in the absolute heart of Mexico City. It is a little frayed, but still very graceful. If you care about architecture, culture, history, and character more than the fluffiness of your towels or having a microwave in your room, this is the place for you. We ended up staying in four rooms over the course of seven nights (through no fault of the hotel), so got a good feel for the place. Rooms overlooking the Zocalo are spacious and wonderful. The charming human-operated old fashioned elevator works great, the lovely views from the rooftop terrace during breakfast or any other time are delightful, and the overall feel of stepping off a busy street into a small palace recalls the luxury of well to do travelers centuries ago.

El buffet es demasiado caro para la comida que ofrecen. Deberían incluir servicio a la carta y mejorar el servicio por parte de los meseros.
