Personality [ ]
Aside from his eyes, Leo is a decidedly normal young man and can be somewhat of a coward, easily intimidated by the bizarre nature of Hellsalem’s Lot. Though, he bears an adventurous and courageous side as well, growing less cowardly as he gets used to his new home. He tends to express his emotions openly, whether they be excitement at something new and enjoyable, fear of the insanity and dangers of Hellsalem’s lot or annoyance at Zapp’s negligent and irresponsible attitude. Guilt-stricken that he was not courageous enough to speak up and prevent his sister’s sight from being taken away, Leo is determined to uncover the secrets of his All-Seeing Eyes and try to find a way to restore his sister’s sight.
He is a very kind person, as he works very hard to earn money to support his sister but refuses to be paid by Libra more than he feels he deserves and takes a second job as a pizza delivery man to cover the fees. In addition, he quickly becomes friends with a mushroom monster in episode 6 despite the common prejudice humans have towards monsters from Hellsalem’s Lot. He even offers to meet him at a specific time any day he can to buy him burgers as his friend had been conned and forced to pay quadruple the amount of money needed to pay for the soda since monsters weren’t allowed into the burger establishment.
While he lacks the combat skills of his fellow Libra members, he is quite clever and quick to adapt to situations. Michella fondly calls him her «Tortoise Knight», because Leo never runs away even if he freezes up and cannot move, even if he is at a loss, and will endure until the moment he can take a step forward.
Despite having the powers of the All-seeing God’s eyes, he refuses to abuse them for his own benefit. When an arrogant tourist beats Leo and takes his wallet, Leo refuses to use his eyes to attack the aggressor. Leo later tries to confront the aggressor with nothing more than an electrical katana which would not kill the man but only hurt him (despite having access to a large number of weapons that could’ve easily killed the man), demonstrating Leo’s pacifistic nature and kind heart.
He is usually partnered with Zapp Renfro, and is typically forced to put up with the man’s shenanigans, often voicing his displeasure towards them.
History [ ]
Around the time of the advent of Hellsalem’s Lot, Leonardo’s family visited a monument in New York on the fragile hope that they could find a means to enable Michella to walk. However, while shooting a photo, the being Riga El Menuhyut appeared before the siblings bearing the ‘Eyes of the Gods’ and promptly asked: «who will see through the end.»
Despite realizing that ‘The one who does not see’ would lose their sight, Leo freezes and shortly hesitates before Michella selflessly offers up her own eyesight so that he may receive the ‘Eyes of the Gods’. Leo was struck with recurrent episodes of severe convulsions and vomiting for the first week after the implantation, and afterward took another two weeks to get used to the overwhelming and overlapping amount of information provided by the eyes.
Those Shrouded in Mist. [ ]
Six months later, whilst talking with Vivian at her restaurant ‘s diner, Leo’s camera is stolen by a Sonic Monkey, causing him to chase after it only to be caught up in the gunfight between the HLPD and a bank robber.
Whilst trying to escape, he runs into Zapp, an agent of Libra who mistakes him for Johnny Landis, their new member. Realizing that Libra could help him find answers, Leo pretends to be Johnny and follows Zapp to meet Libra’s leader, Klaus Von Reinherz.
After being exposed as a fake by Chain Sumeragi, Leo pleads his case just as Femt starts his ‘game’, releasing half a Yog-Gphot in Hellsalem’s Lot, instructing them to destroy the second gate to keep the two halves from uniting.
Leo’s eyes allow him to see the attack before it hits, though Klaus is still injured trying to save him. After revealing his past, he is formally invited into Libra and paired with Zapp to destroy the second Gate, which he deduces is not planted on the monkey, but rather a flea on the monkey’s body, thwarting Femt’s plan.
Follow that Phantom Ghost Wagon. [ ]
Set sometime after his induction into Libra, Leo is first seen driving a pizza delivery bike while listening to ‘It’s a Wonderful Beyond’. In the anime, he witnesses a brother and sister pair that remind him of his little sister, Michella. There is also a short scene in Libra’s office where Zapp attacks Klaus, only to be defeated and summarily stepped on by Chain.
After being cheated out of a pizza by Zapp yet again, Leo is forced to give the man a ride to his next date when they stumble across a suspicious looking group that, after conversing with Zapp, appear to be operating under an illusion only Leo’s eyes can penetrate.
While Zapp calls Chain to report the sighting, the pair is attacked shortly and Leo is taken hostage, though not before Zapp manages to connect his blood to him. Awakening inside the wagon, Leo learns that the smugglers are kidnapping people to sell as food and attempts to use his ‘Eyes of the Gods’ to escape, only to startle his captors.
As they threaten to kill him, Leo realizes his eyes can switch the ‘sight’ of others and uses this to overpower them, causing the wagon to crash, allowing Chain to lead Klaus to them. Hospitalized and mummified due to Klaus going overboard, Leo is unable to voice his irritation at Steven’s ‘praise’ and learning Zapp was assigned as his guard.
In the anime, sometime after recovering from his wounds, Leo is walking around the hospital when he stumbles across a cemetery. There, he bumps into White, a young woman who claims to be a ghost and asks to be his friend.
A Game Between Worlds [ ]
Leo plays a smaller role in this arc.
The story begins with Leo having a dream about Femt’s maid Shikigami suddenly pressing his head into her breasts. He wakes up to see a breast-shaped bird in front of his face, and an image of a malevolent god from the recently torn down wall in his apartment. His landlord then bursts into his room, stating how the apartment building will be soon converted into a luxury hotel. Leo is then promptly evicted, only having 40 seconds to gather his stuff and leave or face certain death.
Now homeless, he is next seen collapsed on a couch at Libra headquarters. Steven suggests giving him higher pay as a member of Libra, taking into account that a portion of his earnings is sent to his sister. However, Gilbert states that Leo refused the offer as he didn’t want “special treatment.”
As the trouble regarding the drug Angel Scale is brought to light, Leo joins Zapp in hunting for information on the source and trade routes, but comes up empty-handed along with the others.
After Klaus was able to obtain information on the distributors, he once again joins everyone in hunting them down. In the end, he briefly ponders how Klaus was able to find the information exactly.
Bloodline Fever [ ]
As Leo rides the Hellsalem’s Lot Subway, he witnesses an individual with a beautiful aura that looked like crimson wings.
After offhandedly mentioning this to Klaus during a Libra Party, everyone suddenly tenses up as the jovial atmosphere dies down. Klaus and Steven verified again if what Leo saw was true. They then inform him that the individual he saw with the scarlet aura was, in fact, a vampire, and no doubt one of the 13 Elders.
Shortly after grocery shopping with Zapp, the two of them coincidentally meet with Blitz T. Abrams outside the store. With the many “accidents” occurring around Abrams, Leo is knocked unconscious from a piece of stray shrapnel hitting him in the face, injuring his eye in the process. He is then carried back to Libra headquarters by Abrams.
After finding out that Leo has the “Eyes of the Gods”, Abrams asks him to read the list of Elder’s names being guarded by the severed hand of a Blood Breed that he had brought with him in a suitcase. As Leo attempts to read the note, however, he receives a backlash due to the shrapnel wound on his right eye. Having trouble focusing on close objects, his vision is stuck temporarily in a runaway state causing heightened farsightedness.
Taking advantage of his current state, he is taken to Yggdrashiad Central Station atop the Eternal Nothingness. As he gazes into the Beyond to confirm the presence of vampires, his injured right eye cracks under the strain. He then confirms the presence of not just 13 Elder vampires, but an overwhelming number of Elder class vampires present in the Beyond.
Later, he accompanies Klaus in saving Steven and K.K., and aids him in sealing the Elder by providing its true name.
Day In, Day Out [ ]
Illustrating the daily lives of Libra members, Leo starts off the story getting mugged by a thug visiting Hellsalem’s Lot for vacation. As he is being dragged in the alleyway, he spots Chain hopping casually across the sidewalk. Their eyes meet, and Leo mouths for her to help him. However, she ignores him and continues on her way.
Leo is then left in a puddle of his own blood, a tooth gone and his wallet stolen. He begrudgingly laments how the money he was planning to send to his sister was taken. As Sonic looks questionably up at Leo in regards to why he didn’t use his All-Seeing Eyes of the Gods on the thugs, he briefly recalls how his sister had sacrificed herself. Leo remarks that he doesn’t feel it’s right, using his powers for personal benefit.
He later goes to see Patrick, and acquires a non-lethal stun baton. Finding the thug once again in a bar, he confronts the man and asks him to return his money for his sister. The thug refuses, but Leo hesitates using the stun baton on him however when the thug states that he could perhaps have a pace maker, the shock would kill him and he would be a murderer. Shocked by the thought, Leo is disarmed and beaten up once more and thrown out into the streets.
Afterwards, Leo encounters Zapp who is still looking for the lost cat. The two of them shortly after meet up with Steven while on the road.
Powers and Abilities [ ]
Most importantly, his eyes see ‘The Truth’ of the world. This allows him to see past world altering illusions along with perceiving an individual’s unique aura. His eyes are especially effective in identifying the scarlet feathered aura of a Blood Breed. Upon staring at a Blood Breed for a duration, he is able to see their «true name», but only if its heart is present. Leo can also manipulate the vision of others, including that of machinery such as Aligura’s monster truck, and force them to move in the direction he wants them to, or see through another individual’s eyes and even witness past events that they have seen. He is also able to use his eyes to track the individual aura of a person as mentioned in Episode 17 where he was able to find Philip’s brain and track it by matching its aura with Philip’s aura.
Using the power of his eyes however has its limits, as they overheat upon prolonged use of their abilities.

Appearance [ ]
White is a seemingly young girl with pale skin and green eyes. She has her hair up in two long blonde pigtails. She wears what could be assumed as a hospital gown with black cuffs and collars, with a slit running from her knee down to the end of the dress.
Personality [ ]
White tearing up in episode 5
When she first met Leonardo, she claimed herself to be a Ghost. She was not at all shy when asking Leo to be her friend when the two first met during Episode 2. She sometimes gets moody as seen in Episode 5 and get upset for an undisclosed reason. But she can also get emotional as seen in episode 5 as well.
She gets along quite well with her brother Black as seen in Episode 6. Black have stated in Episode 7 that she’s a tomboy, headstrong and selfish sometimes.
Although White has a cameo in Episode 1, she makes her official debut in Episode 2, introducing herself as a ghost to Leo. She tells Leo that she is bored since she has been trapped in a hospital for three years, and is only able to speak with her older brother.
She is approached by The King of Despair in Episode 4, and he comments on a photo she is holding which was shot by Leonardo.
She is seen again in Episode 5, where she’s still mad at Leo for unknown reasons. Later, Leo made her sneak out of the hospital to see a movie. During the movie, White begins to cry. While Leo tries to calm her down, he then talk about how much he also miss his sister. He says that he isn’t a great brother since he only cause problems for her. White denies that saying that isn’t true. She then come closer to Leo and hug him.
White and Black in Episode 6.
In Episode 6 she introduces her older brother Black (also known as William Macbeth) to Leo.
Mary aka. White as a little girl
Episode 11 goes in depth about her family’s history and explains, that the Macbeth family is a long lineage of people, who possess psychic powers. Despite being a descendant, she didn’t inherit the psychic powers, while Black had both of their abilities combined. This caused her to feel miserable and unlucky, believing she was a blemish on her family. However, she often watched as Black refused to use his powers, never understanding why. She took up photography as a hobby, thinking that even if she would die, she would leave a trace of herself behind. She loans the camera to a trio of kids from her school and they throw it in a river, destroying it. This caused Black to jump in after it and almost drown, having to be admitted to the hospital. As they are in the hospital, White tells him that the camera was simply a «placebo» and how much she would have grieved if he would die and starts to cry, causing Black to do the same.
As the flashback ends, she is then seen applying a strange device to Leonardo’s eyes, knocking him out. She then left the church, walk around the city while feeling depressed and ends up at the place where Leo brings her out to watch a movie. She sat there while looking at some of the pictures in Leo’s camera. Sonic then showed up looking for Leo, and later on, White started to feel a pain in her chest. While having a heart attack, she gives Sonic a mission to find Leo and save him. Later on, The King of Despair is seen holding White on his lap, within the church. He then decides to point a gun at her heart and shoots her. He whispers «Farewell, Mother Mary,» followed by «I loved you.»
During the beginning of episode 12, it is revealed that White had died three years earlier and her parents implanted a barricade into her, replacing her heart. She was then used as a nonhuman force to protect Hellsalem’s Lot.
She appears as a ghost when Leo finds her. He tells her he knows her secret and that they would go save the world together. She later sacrifices the remainder of her life to be a part of the barricade in Hellsalem’s Lot and stop the destruction of the city. She tells Black that the world would not disappear without her, and she’d been able to survive the past three years because of their parents’ love. Her spirit becomes a shining butterfly, kisses Leo, and flies away.
In a Second Season when she still a Shining butterfly shows up in the second season of Episode 11 and Episode 12.
Power & Abilities [ ]
Despite being a descendant of a lineage of psychics, White has no particular powers, unlike her brother Black.
However she got severely injured 3 years before the series and with her parents powers became the key of the gateway of the city, to keep her alive.
It also seems she may have some power over the force field seeing that a fog was created after her death which slowed The King Of Despair down.

Appearance [ ]
A young man with short blonde hair and blue eyes, he wears a black hooded jacket, and round glasses.
Personality [ ]
Black is a fairly talkative person with a sweet and caring nature. Upon meeting Leonardo for the first time, he readily introduces himself and acts in a relaxed and friendly manner.
During Leo and Black’s lunch together, it is established that the two have a lot in common, especially when it comes to having low self-esteem. Black is shown to feel rather insecure about himself and his abilities, showing no hesitation in talking down on himself when recounting memories of being bullied in his younger years. Along with this, Black is also shown to be awkward and clumsy when he spills his drink all over himself in front of Leo, and is shown to panic in the embarrassing situation in an exaggerated manner.
Despite his insecurities, Black seems to have no trouble poking fun at Leo in a good natured way, often laughing at Leo when he gets flustered and teasingly referring to him as a ‘Tortoise Knight’ after Leo tells him that is the nickname Michella gave him. He also seems to enjoy sharing the knowledge he has with others, as seen when telling Leo about the Halloween traditions of his hometown in Episode 7, and when recounting the events of the collapse he has memorized to Leo and some passing school children in Episode 8. When a little girl tells Black that her parents are casters, he expresses that he believes that is something to be proud of. However it is also hinted that the great collapse has caused Black to not want to be a part of the casters himself, implying that the events of it have caused him trauma that he does not want to think about.
Black is incredibly protective of his younger twin sister White, as seen in multiple occasions throughout the series, especially when he is seen desperately trying to keep the King of Despair from involving her in his plans. As children, he and White were raised lovingly by their parents, however Black began to develop feelings of being lesser than his family due to the fact he saw himself as emotionally weak. He came to this conclusion when he and White were making mud balls together when they were very little, and when White made better a mud ball than him he used his psychic powers to burst the ball out of frustration. He expected White to start crying, but instead she just went straight to making another mud ball, and Black ended up being the one crying. Due to this, Black felt as though he was much weaker than his sister, and showed great self-restraint in distancing himself from his powers as much as possible in order to try to better himself as a person, even going as far as letting bullies beat him up without fighting back.
Another trait of Black’s is that he is rather sensitive, and this is especially exhibited in flashbacks to his childhood in Episode 11 where he is shown to cry very easily, such as when the family dog knocked the ice cream he was eating out of his hand and when he started crying because White was crying.
In Episode 6, Black is officially introduced as White’s older brother when Leo walks in on the two talking in her hospital room. Black is unaware of the day Leo met the King of Despair on the subway, and introduces himself to Leo while he is confused. In a later scene Black and Leo are seen sharing lunch at Dianne’s diner. Black is seen to be clumsy knocking over his own drink and apologizes profusely for his actions. When Leo asks about White’s condition, Black states she has had a weak heart but it’s been under control for a while now. The two of them bond over their mutual insecurities, and when Leo tells Black about his own sister, Black laughs.
When a little kid bumps into a waitress holding a pot of coffee, she drops it but Black stops the liquid short from falling on Leo, to which the waitress and Leo both are confused and arguing over something. When Black can no longer concentrate hard enough, the coffee falls onto Leo and he apologizes because he’s not good at using his abilities.
At the end of the episode, Leo sees Black walking among the crowd and waves to him. They are seen having a conversation on Leos bike. Black notices a Halloween store and says «The people really love Halloween!» and then goes on to talk about the place where he and White grew up and how, though they don’t get candy on Halloween, the people still believe the otherworld and their world are closer than ever on that particular night. Sometime into the conversation, Leo mentions how White referred to herself as a ghost and jokes about it, asking if that type of spiritual humor runs in his family. Black looks down, frowning while he says no. Black apologizes for making Leo go out of his way to drop him off at home, but he has an early morning ahead of him. He tells Leo to not mind the things White says, because she’s just a silly girl who’s really nice.
In a flashback, Black is seen holding an unconscious White while two people fade way into a wall of fire, giving light on him and his sisters past.
Black is seen to be knowledgeable about the events of the first Great Collapse, and speaks about the Casters that managed to prevent it with high regards. A child runs over to him and exclaims that their parents are casters too, and Black kneels down to pat their head saying that that’s something to be proud of. When he stands back up, Leo asks about himself. Black states that he wishes he was born without the powers he was given, but nothing else is said about the subject.
In Episode 11, White and Black’s true names are revealed to be Mary and William Macbeth. Their past is revealed, he is the only child who inherited his parents powers as psychics. Mary did not inherit any special power. During his time in school he often got bullied, but refused to use his power due to a little accident in his past, which he feels bad about. He swore to himself that he will not use his power until he gets stronger. When some bullies at their school take White’s camera, he demands that they give it back to her. The camera is then thrown over a bridge by one of them, and Black jumps after it in an attempt to save the camera but almost drowns in doing so.
William and his sister are present during the first Great Collapse. He and Mary are seen in front of a mysterious being cloaked in flame, The King of Despair, but William refuses to let the being take over his sister. Instead he offers his body to save and protect his sister from being possessed.
In Episode 11, The King of Despair has White lure Leonardo to the church, and she places a device over his eyes in hopes that she will get her brother back. After this, King is seen dragging Leonardo down into the other world after being knocked out by the device on his eyes. He uses the device on Leonardo’s eyes to destroy a seal, which sets off explosions in Hellsalem’s Lot.
At the end of the episode, inside the same church, The King of Despair is seen sitting next to an unconscious White. He then proceeds to point a gun at her chest and shoots. However it is not shown that Mary took the bullet to the chest and died.
As Hellsalem’s Lot begins tearing itself up, The King of Despair is seen sitting at the alter of the church humming as he waits for someone. Klaus Von Reinherz appears before him, and he asks what will happen to Black after this is all done. He says he hasn’t given up on Black, and when Klaus holds him up by his neck, King of Despair is seen telling Klaus mockingly to save him from himself.
When Leo appears midst of their fight, King of Despair denies the claims that they all had over him, telling both Leo and Klaus that William had willingly accepted him, but is interrupted by Leo who says even if that’s true he can still see Black. Through Leo’s broken vision, he can see Black standing behind King of Despair crying while saying he doesn’t want to die, but wants to live. When Leo forces his eyesight upon King of Despair, he pushes Leo away angrily while telling Black to go back to sleep. As a ghostly version of White walks up to him, King’s body soon gives out and he passes out. Black wakes up and White is laying her head on his chest and he asks her what she’s doing, to which she replies she was simply checking if he was still alive or not. White offers herself to be used as a sacrifice in order to complete the seal, and Black begins crying saying he cannot live without her as a life without her is no life at all.
When she convinces him of what they must do, he agrees with tears in his eyes. White effectively banishes King of Despair from Black, but also becomes a part of the seal that protects the city. Black is shown watching Leo cry from a distance, talking to White as if she were still there. He calls Leo their hero, commenting on how he looked brave even while crying.
In Kekkai Sensen & Beyond, Black was shown skyping Leo in Episode 11, in which Leo suggests that Black should come back to Hellsalem’s Lot to visit as well as telling Leo to call his sister every once in a while before he ends the call. Black follows up on this offer as he appears at the end of Episode 12, now working at Dianne’s Diner after being mugged, and he tells his sister and himself that there is nothing to worry about. He then is carried by Leonardo as they are chased by Femt’s monsters.
Power & Abilities [ ]
He possesses very powerful psychic powers, however he appears to not be able to control them very well as seen when he stopped a coffee jug from spilling on Leonardo for only a short period of time before he couldn’t hold it any longer. The King of Despair seems have a much better grasp of Black’s psychic powers, as we see him easily tear apart Hellsalem’s Lot using them alone.
