В этом сериале джао лу сы не снималась

Супер дорама. Прям с удовольствием посмотрела. Актёры реально живут а не играют. Понравились все парочки. Хоть и поцелуев почти нет, но сила любви как в «кино». Очень приятно было смотреть благодарю создателей фильма. И за перевод благодарю.

Что это было? Если вам нужен звуковой фон, да, подойдет …
А так, ни о чем. ГГ красавчик, и образ прекрасен, и актер замечательный, старательно вытягивал любовную линию. Но в одиночку плохо получилось, потому что его партнерша — сама по себе, и сама в себе. Второстепенные персонажи поинтереснее, ради них и смотрела.
Нудно, бессмысленно, нет затягивающей истории, все поверхностно, Для времяпровождения или фонового звука подойдет, не более….

Rebirth For You (2021)

They are people with different personalities who met by chance and then fell in love. The Crown Prince’s daughter, Princess Jiang Bao Ning of Jia Nan, grew up in the palace. She remained carefree despite knowing that no freedom within the palace walls existed. But neither did she wish to become a puppet. Relying on her ingenuity, she resisted becoming a pawn in the fighting within the inner palace. Like a mucus bath.

Instead of the incomprehensible Rebirth For You, this drama’s real title should be The Story of Miaorong. Because over 30 super long episodes (50+ minutes), practically all of the screen time is hijacked by the deranged machinations of the female and male love rejects’ pathetic, slimy and absurd schemes. Every time you are about to jump ship out of frustration, they will throw some sugar at you with some sweet scenes between Bao Ning and Li Qian but make no mistake, the very boring actress that plays Miaorong gets MOST of the screentime. The final insult to the injury is this smart couple becomes stupid and their devotion and absolute faith in each other devolves into angsty and immature misunderstandings toward the end. The promising plot threads and interesting antagonists are left largely under exploited while the writers strive to bore us to death with every silly, malicious cat fight and scorned lover trope ever conceived of. This is a total waste of both Ju Jingyi and Zeng Shunxi’s acting talent and is little more than a shameless exercise in letting second rate actors get too much exposure.

If you are die hard fans, watch about the first twelve episodes and the last one or two. All the rest can be skipped but my overall recommendation is to save some brain cells and not watch this at all. This is my shortest review ever to avoid wasting any more time on this abomination. Rating 3.5/10.0.

Rebirth For Idiots. The Delusion is REAL

Pros: Main leads and third leads chemistry/relationships/happy ending for both sets.

That is literally it. This 40 episode series had no other pros. This is absolutely the worst costume drama I have ever seen; it was an unmitigated disaster. Actually it was the worst drama I have seen from any country. After crawling to episode 30, I waited until the finale aired to decide whether to just watch that or maybe a few more episodes.

Though I’d never read the novel, people in the comments section were excited because the novel had a great antagonist and a flowing storyline. Unfortunately, the screenwriter and director butchered the novel and threw most of it out. What followed was a spiral into a world of jealousy, delusion on a scale that literally went on until the final episode, and just really horrible content.

They wasted a great antagonist by turning him into a Gaston-like (from Beauty and the Beast) joke who laughed evilly, just about kissed his own muscles and walked around like he was Gods gift to existence. Furthermore, out of all 40 episodes, he maybe had one episode worth of screen time. The real «villains» were all over the place and their evilness could only be justified as boredom and jealousy.

The story began with about 4 or 5 men all in love with the female lead who was clever though she pouted so often, I always wondered how she didn’t swallow her own chin. The male lead was a righteous man though not without flaws. I personally started watching this only for WZC who played SML. Turned out that his character was the real «villain» but not one that you even wanted to watch. The writers made him so delusional with his unrequited love towards the FL that, even before the halfway point of the show, you wanted him and those like him to just fall off a cliff.

I feel really bad for the actors of this horrendous mess. The SFL somehow ended up getting the most screen time than both leads combined and she was so delusional with her unrequited love towards the ML that she was willing to kill children even to pin things on FL. Both SFL and SML didn’t take no for an answer when the ML and FL repeatedly told them they didn’t love them, never had, and never would. It was an extremely sloppy script. Even the «battle» at the end I would equate to a fight between two gangs not an actual war. It was so puny, it was laughable.

There was no character development and those that created the most havoc in the show got half-assed redemption arcs in the last two episodes. It was heavy on palace politics and delusional jealousy that went so far beyond the norm that most people couldn’t remain sane watching it without fast forwarding the majority or skipping whole episodes altogether.

This is the first time I had ever seen any comment section on any rating site spend weeks actively plotting characters’ deaths because of just how deplorable they were. I have absolutely nothing against any of the actors but they deserve better than a disaster of these proportions. The screenwriter and director need to stop taking drugs and go back to school, because they basically failed miserably at doing something actually extremely simple. They had a story. All they needed to do was copy it into a workable script; it’s not like they had to reinvent the wheel. But instead, they took maybe 20% of the original book and created this debacle.

I truly wish more novelists would step up and stop selling their rights and instead write the scripts themselves. It would increase the number of scripts as well the quality of them. But to all those reading this review, please avoid this hot mess if you cherish your sanity.

Jealous Love Rivals Galore!

Rebirth For You actually started off quite well as viewers are told that the male protagonist is quietly investigating his mother’s murder. But just as we begin to think this would be an investigative romance drama, it takes a different turn and third parties’ obsessions and jealousies become the central focus. Basically, it gets tiring watching endless schemes by these jealous people trying to tear the main couple apart.

The problem with this script is that you don’t have 1 or even 2 highly obsessed love rivals. You have 4 people going around trying to stop Bao Ning and Li Qian from being together. Emperor Zhao Yi and Zhao Xiao are in love with Bao Ning and they are extremely jealous of Li Qian. Tong Xin is in love with Emperor Zhao Yi and hence, she has an axe to grind with Bao Ning since the man she loves has deep affections for our princess instead. To add more jealousy to the plot, Miao Rong loves Li Qian immensely and hates Bao Ning for snatching her man away.

Well, just from that brief summary above, you should have an idea what to expect from this drama. 4 jealous people are certainly enough to make a 40-episode drama but the question is do you really want to sit through never ending efforts to create trouble for a loving couple?

In Dire Need For A Better Script
As mentioned, the drama begins with Li Qian seeking an answer to his mother’s death. That is the overarching plot that viewers are given in the first 2 episodes which could have been developed into something much better just like Maiden Holmes. But for the next 30 episodes thereafter, this storyline disappears. It is replaced with the antics of the jealous antagonists. In fact, the leads have given these people a direct rejection a number of times but they just couldn’t take no for an answer.

Li Qian’s mother’s case resurfaces only in the last 8 episodes and that is also interspersed with more schemes to cause the main couple harm. No doubt toxic love rivals are common in historical romance dramas. You can find one in A Female Student Arrives At The Imperial College as well as One And Only. But Rebirth For You has taken it to the extreme by giving too much attention to the schemes of these villains that the romance has taken a backseat when it is supposed to be a love story.

Therefore, the drama suffers from poor scriptwriting which fails to balance out the romance, investigation, and jealousy for a more pleasant watch. To me, if you want to build almost an entire drama on jealous love rivals, there need to be more depth to these people’s stories. As it is, their stories are very superficial as the focus is on their schemes and obsessions.

The Romance Is Lacking
Bao Ning and Li Qian is depicted as a very loving couple in the drama. You know that they love each other a lot but the romance doesn’t have the intensity and passion to make it more memorable. They are sweet at times but that is about it. I don’t know if passionate kissing scenes might help to elevate the romance but they are certainly missing from Rebirth For You. So, all you would get are simple pecks.

Personally, I would have preferred a more matured and intense romance because that would be consistent with the fact that they are a married couple with a deep love for one another. Some stories don’t need such scenes and they still evoke deep feelings in viewers such as The Long Ballad. But Rebirth For You just doesn’t have that same quality to be able to make do without more passion in the romance. As a result, the main couple’s romance becomes muted against the nonstop onslaught from jealous love rivals.

Leads’ Chemistry
While the romance is lacking in the drama, it doesn’t mean that the couple has no chemistry. I would say Ju Jing Yi and Joseph Zeng have good chemistry between them and they are easy on the eyes as an on-screen couple. Their sweet scenes are perhaps the bright spot of the drama amidst all the toxic characters but they are too few to really make an impact. Neither do they stick in your mind once the episode is over.

I know Ju Jing Yi doesn’t do intense kissing scenes which then brings to question if they have done the casting right given the script on hand. I guess she does have that mischievous look which is required for this role. She has played more or less this kind of adventurous character in Legend Of Yun Xi and The Blooms At Ruyi Pavilion and Bao Ning in Rebirth For You just seems another of the same.

My Verdict – Find Something Better
I just wish Ju Jing Yi and Joseph Zeng had picked a better script to showcase their talent and looks. They couldn’t save this drama despite their popularity. I guess if you don’t want to sit through the endless evil schemes of those delusional characters, you can watch the first 12 episodes and then skip to the last 4. But then, what is the point of watching when you are skipping more than half of the drama, right?

Anyway, the ending is also a little rushed. The produces tried to cram too many things into the last 2 episodes to wrap the story up that the pacing quickens considerably. Some of the fighting scenes are also laughable because what it is supposed to be a war between 2 nations is reduced to a gangster fight. I don’t know if the producer is constrained by a low budget or other reasons but the final battle is anti-climatic to me.

For this Rebirth For You review, I could only give it a score of 6/10. It may be a little harsh especially for the fans of the leads but the drama is really lacking in substance. If you don’t mind watching jealousies of bitter love rivals, then this would not be so bad. Their evil schemes are interesting at times and you will be waiting for the day they get just retribution which would be the main motivation to continue watching. But overall, Rebirth For You is not a drama that will leave you clamoring for more. In fact, you might even regret starting on it because there is only so much delusional jealousy that one can take!

Rebirth For You Review

Frankly speaking, I wasn’t expecting much when I started on Rebirth For You (嘉南传). I guess after just having completed Nirvana In Fire 1 and its sequel, The Wind Blows In Chang Lin, it will be hard to find another drama of the same quality. So, I knew I have to lower my expectations a few rungs for this recent drama and wait for surprises instead. But alas, the surprises aren’t there after sitting through the entire 40 episodes. What is worse is that it also suffers from a poor script and plot. Below is my Rebirth For You review for a more in depth look at this Chinese historical romance drama.

The Cast Of Rebirth For You

Main Characters

Jiang Bao Ning

Bao Ning is Commandery Princess Jia Nan. Her maternal grandmother is the Grand Empress Dowager while her uncle is the Archduke. Her parents passed away when she was a young girl and she is doted upon by her grandmother. Bao Ning is a cheerful and quick witted young woman who is into inventions and gadgets. She can also be mischievous and cunning. Qing Ke is her personal servant.

Li Qian

Li Qian is a military man from Bingzhou where his father is the Commandant. His biological mother died when he was a kid. Li Qian is a skillful martial artist and a smart man. Wei Shu is his personal assistant.

Supporting Characters

Zhao Xiao

Zhao Xiao is related to the royal family and his father is Marquis Jing Hai and Commandant in Nanmin. He is a gentleman who is in love with Bao Ning.

Gao Miao Rong

Miao Rong and Li Qian are childhood friends. She is very close to his family because her uncle is Li Qian’s father’s military counselor. Miao Rong has strong feelings for Li Qian but he only regards her as his sister.

Li Dong Zhi / Dong Dong

Dong Dong is Li Qian’s younger half-sister. She is a rebellious and mischievous lass. Dong Dong is also a tomboy with an indulgent father.

Qing An

Qing An is a traveling merchant who is looking for his missing other. His mother is from Mu’an while his father is from Yong Qing. He is skilled in martial arts and has a mysterious background.

Emperor Zhao Yi

Zhao Yi is the Emperor of Mu’an. He is a powerless and dissatisfied ruler as his mother controls the royal court. Zhao Yi has eyes for Bao Ning who is his cousin. But he also fools around with a palace maid named Fang Yi Ru.

Grand Empress Dowager

Grand Empress Dowager is Bao Ning and Zhao Yi’s grandmother. She a kind woman who dotes on Bao Ning. Her seniority gives her a special status and she will use it to protect her precious granddaughter.

Empress Dowager Cao

Empress Dowager Cao is Zhao Yi’s mother. She is the power behind the throne and refuses to pass the reins to her son. She is also against Zhao Yi’s intention to marry Bao Ning as this would be a threat to her hold on power.

Han Tong Xin

Tong Xin is District Princess Qing Yi and the granddaughter of Lord Jian. She is an arrogant and jealous lady who is interested in Zhao Yi.

Zhao Xi

Zhao Xi is the eldest son of Zhao Yi whose mother is a palace maid.

Cao Xuan

Cao Xuan is Empress Dowager Cao’s nephew and a Deputy Chamberlain. He is a gentleman who just quietly goes about his duty.

Bai Su

Bai Su is Township Mistress Qing Hui. Her father is a duke and she has a very close friendship with Bao Ning as they grew up together.

Li Chang Qing

Chang Qing is Li Qian’s father and Commandant of Bingzhou. He comes from a bandit background who stole from the rich to give to the poor. He has a good reputation in Bingzhou. His late first wife was Li Qian’s mother and he is still seeking justice for her killing. Chang Qing also remarried after her death.

He Cui Hua

Cui Hua is Chang Qing’s current wife and Dong Dong’s mother. She also comes from a humble background and married Chang Qing when he was still poor. Cui Hua is a simple-minded woman who can be a little greedy in a harmless way. She is also a worried mother who is overly eager to find a marriage partner for her tomboyish daughter.

Li Lin

Li Lin is Li Qian’s cousin and working for the family. He is a quiet man with feelings for Miao Rong.

Jin Xiao

Jin Xiao is Li Qian’s good friend. His father is Commander of the Border Brigade. Jin Xiao is a carefree guy with a cheerful and talkative personality.

Dong Shan Hu

Shan Hu is a very successful businesswoman in Bingzhou. She is a smart and astute woman who develops a close friendship with Bao Ning.

Qing Tai

Qing Tai is the First Prince of Yong Qing which is a state bordering Mu’an. He is a bloodthirsty and rash man who is always looking for a war with Mu’an. His righthand man is Wu Man who is a hypnotist.

Si Qin

Si Qin is the Commander of the Weapons Battalion of Yong Qing. He is in charge of developing weapons for the army. Si Qin is a softhearted man who prefers peace over war.

Synopsis

Bao Ning is a Commandery Princess who loves inventing and tinkering with gadgets and machines. She sneaks out of the palace to join a machinist competition as she wants to win the prize on offer which is a secretive weapon design book. At the same time, Li Qian also wants to win the competition as the book is related to his mother’s death years ago. Zhao Xiao is also there to try to get insights into some boat designs to repel pirates in his hometown. Hence, the 3 of them become acquainted through the competition with Bao Ning being the winner.

Zhao Xiao falls deeply in love with Bao Ning and is on the verge of marrying her with the Grand Empress Dowager’s approval. But circumstances spoils the plan and Bao Ning ends up marrying Li Qian instead which angers Zhao Xiao. This also causes Li Qian’s childhood friend, Miao Rong, to feel jealous as she is also in love with him and they are often thought of as a pair. Therefore, Bao Ning and Li Qian have to face various plots to break them apart including from Emperor Zhao Yi who also has an eye on Bao Ning. Will their efforts succeed to break the loving couple apart?

Rebirth For You Ending (Spoilers Alert!)

Rebirth For You has a happy ending. The last few minutes of the drama sees a time jump 5 years later. Bao Ning and Li Qian already have a daughter who is just as mischievous and rebellious. Bai Su and Cao Xuan have a baby son as well as an adopted daughter. Shan Hu and Jin Xiao are already happily married. Prior to the time jump, Dong Dong is also seen going off to marry Qing An in Yong Qing while Miao Rong and Li Lin have quietly left the capital to start a new life together.

Who Killed Li Qian’s Mother?

Li Qian’s mother (Zhang Xiu He), Bao Ning’s father (Jiang Zhen Ying), and Qing An’s mother (Qin Yu) were fellow disciples of the master who wrote the weapon design book. The book was passed down to Zhang Xiu He before the disciples went their separate ways to lead their own lives.

The then Emperor heard about the book and was looking for it. Empress Dowager Cao was only a concubine then and the book was her ticket to the Empress title. She got her underlings led by Xie Jian Feng to snatch it from Zhang Xiu He. They burned down the whole village and massacred all the people present including Li Qian’s mother to hide what they have done.

By coincidence, Jiang Zhen Ying and Qin Yu were at the village on that day for a reunion with Zhang Xiu He. But Jiang Zhen Ying had an argument with Zhang Xiu He and left early. He wanted his disciple sister to burn the book because he felt that it would be bring her harm. But Zhang Xiu He refused. After he left, Xie Jian Feng arrived with his men and started the massacre.

Qin Yu was chased down but was lucky to run into Qing An’s father who saved her. She lost her memory because of the trauma. She regained it in Episode 38 and narrated what happened on that day to Qing An and Dong Dong.

What Happened To Miao Rong?

Miao Rong left the Li family after being caught for trying to harm Bao Ning in Episode 28. She was saved by Li Lin after she was sexually assaulted. Li Lin had already left Li Manor earlier after taking the blame for Miao Rong for diverting the family funds to an underground bank for profit. Miao Rong realized that Li Lin was the one who really loves her and they became a couple in Episode 30.

Just when she wanted to start life anew with Li Lin, Tong Xin tricked Miao Rong to make Miao Rong felt indebted to her. Hence, Miao Rong ended up carrying out Tong Xin’s dirty deeds in the palace against her conscience until she found out that she had been set up from the very beginning. Miao Rong then reported Tong Xin’s plan to Li Qian. She also helped Bao Ning to expose Tong Xin’s crime in exchange for freedom in Episode 38. She left the capital with Li Lin and they planned to lead a peaceful and ordinary life thereafter.

Tong Xin’s Fate

Through Miao Rong’s help, Tong Xin was caught for stealing the Grand Empress Dowager’s seal to write up an edict for Bao Ning and Li Qian to divorce. Emperor Zhao Xi spared her life but stripped her of her titles and banished her to a hillside residence instead in Episode 39.

What Happened To Zhao Xiao?

Zhao Xiao was obsessed over Bao Ning and hated Li Qian for snatching her away from him. He was supposed to capture Qing Tai on Emperor Zhao Xi’s order but allowed Qing Tai to kidnap Li Qian instead. He was hoping Qing Tai would kill Li Qian but Bao Ning managed to save him and escaped together. Once Qing Tai was defeated and the dust settled, Zhao Xiao was stripped of being a noble and exiled to the border for all his crimes in Episode 40.

Qing An’s Background

Qing An is actually the 2nd Prince of Yong Qing.This is revealed in Episode 17. His father saved his mother during a massacre and fell in love with her. He made her his concubine but the Queen made life difficult for her. Then Queen subsequently got some people to transport Qing An’s mother out of Yong Qing and then claimed that she eloped to the King’s disappointment. Qing An became a traveling merchant partly because he wanted to look for his missing mother and to escape from his toxic half-brother and indifferent father at home.

Bao Ning And Li Qian’s Relationship Timeline

Bao Ning confessed her feelings to Li Qian in Episode 9 but got rejected. After thinking it over, Li Qian was prepared to marry her and confessed his feelings in Episode 11. They had their wedding ceremony in Episode 12. Due to Bao Ning’s weak health, it was not advisable for her to conceive and hence, they only consummated their marriage in Episode 24.

Cracks started to appear in their relationship in Episode 32 when Li Qian found out that Bao Ning’s father was likely involved in his mother’s death. Bao Ning left Li Qian to return to the capital in Episode 34 as she was hurt and disappointed that he didn’t trust her that her father was innocent. Li Qian went after her and apologized in Episode 37 but her anger had not subsided.

When the Grand Empress Dowager died, Tong Xin arranged it to make it seemed that Li Qian had riled the old woman up until it led to her heart attack. The Grand Empress Dowager was supposedly angered that Li Qian had hurt Bao Ning. So, Bao Ning blamed Li Qian for her grandmother’s death and asked for an end to their relationship in Episode 37.

But the breakup didn’t last long. Bao Ning found out that she was pregnant in Episode 38. She also learned the truth about her grandmother’s death from Miao Rong’s note in Episode 39. Her grandmother had been sick for some time and she had been consuming highly toxic medication to appear healthy to fool others. Bao Ning went to save Li Qian after he was kidnapped by Qing Tai in Episode 40 and they reconciled then.

Other Key Events

Rebirth For You Review – Jealous Love Rivals Galore!

Rebirth For You actually started off quite well as viewers are told that the male protagonist is quietly investigating his mother’s murder. But just as we begin to think this would be an investigative romance drama, it takes a different turn and third parties’ obsessions and jealousies become the central focus. Basically, it gets tiring watching endless schemes by these jealous people trying to tear the main couple apart.

The problem with this script is that you don’t have 1 or even 2 highly obsessed love rivals. You have 4 people going around trying to stop Bao Ning and Li Qian from being together. Emperor Zhao Yi and Zhao Xiao are in love with Bao Ning and they are extremely jealous of Li Qian. Tong Xin is in love with Emperor Zhao Yi and hence, she has an axe to grind with Bao Ning since the man she loves has deep affections for our princess instead. To add more jealousy to the plot, Miao Rong loves Li Qian immensely and hates Bao Ning for snatching her man away.

Well, just from that brief summary above, you should have an idea what to expect from this drama. 4 jealous people are certainly enough to make a 40-episode drama but the question is do you really want to sit through never ending efforts to create trouble for a loving couple?

In Dire Need For A Better Script

As mentioned, the drama begins with Li Qian seeking an answer to his mother’s death. That is the overarching plot that viewers are given in the first 2 episodes which could have been developed into something much better just like Maiden Holmes. But for the next 30 episodes thereafter, this storyline disappears. It is replaced with the antics of the jealous antagonists. In fact, the leads have given these people a direct rejection a number of times but they just couldn’t take no for an answer.

Li Qian’s mother’s case resurfaces only in the last 8 episodes and that is also interspersed with more schemes to cause the main couple harm. No doubt toxic love rivals are common in historical romance dramas. You can find one in A Female Student Arrives At The Imperial College as well as One And Only. But Rebirth For You has taken it to the extreme by giving too much attention to the schemes of these villains that the romance has taken a backseat when it is supposed to be a love story.

Therefore, the drama suffers from poor scriptwriting which fails to balance out the romance, investigation, and jealousy for a more pleasant watch. To me, if you want to build almost an entire drama on jealous love rivals, there need to be more depth to these people’s stories. As it is, their stories are very superficial as the focus is on their schemes and obsessions.

The Romance Is Lacking

Bao Ning and Li Qian is depicted as a very loving couple in the drama. You know that they love each other a lot but the romance doesn’t have the intensity and passion to make it more memorable. They are sweet at times but that is about it. I don’t know if passionate kissing scenes might help to elevate the romance but they are certainly missing from Rebirth For You. So, all you would get are simple pecks.

Personally, I would have preferred a more matured and intense romance because that would be consistent with the fact that they are a married couple with a deep love for one another. Some stories don’t need such scenes and they still evoke deep feelings in viewers such as The Long Ballad. But Rebirth For You just doesn’t have that same quality to be able to make do without more passion in the romance. As a result, the main couple’s romance becomes muted against the nonstop onslaught from jealous love rivals.

Leads’ Chemistry

While the romance is lacking in the drama, it doesn’t mean that the couple has no chemistry. I would say Ju Jing Yi and Joseph Zeng have good chemistry between them and they are easy on the eyes as an on-screen couple. Their sweet scenes are perhaps the bright spot of the drama amidst all the toxic characters but they are too few to really make an impact. Neither do they stick in your mind once the episode is over.

I know Ju Jing Yi doesn’t do intense kissing scenes which then brings to question if they have done the casting right given the script on hand. I guess she does have that mischievous look which is required for this role. She has played more or less this kind of adventurous character in Legend Of Yun Xi and The Blooms At Ruyi Pavilion and Bao Ning in Rebirth For You just seems another of the same.

My Verdict – Find Something Better

I just wish Ju Jing Yi and Joseph Zeng had picked a better script to showcase their talent and looks. They couldn’t save this drama despite their popularity. I guess if you don’t want to sit through the endless evil schemes of those delusional characters, you can watch the first 12 episodes and then skip to the last 4. But then, what is the point of watching when you are skipping more than half of the drama, right?

Anyway, the ending is also a little rushed. The produces tried to cram too many things into the last 2 episodes to wrap the story up that the pacing quickens considerably. Some of the fighting scenes are also laughable because what it is supposed to be a war between 2 nations is reduced to a gangster fight. I don’t know if the producer is constrained by a low budget or other reasons but the final battle is anti-climatic to me.

For this Rebirth For You review, I could only give it a score of 6/10. It may be a little harsh especially for the fans of the leads but the drama is really lacking in substance. If you don’t mind watching jealousies of bitter love rivals, then this would not be so bad. Their evil schemes are interesting at times and you will be waiting for the day they get just retribution which would be the main motivation to continue watching. But overall, Rebirth For You is not a drama that will leave you clamoring for more. In fact, you might even regret starting on it because there is only so much delusional jealousy that one can take!

Another historical romance comes to life as the novel by author Zhi Zhi entitled Rebirth For You 嘉南传, previously 慕南枝, gets its very own drama adaptation. As the title suggests, the 48 episode long series narrates how Jiang Baoning attempts to change history after being reborn. And like the saying “behind every successful man is a strong woman”, the drama’s heroine Jiang Baoning relies on her own strength to outwit the various forces at play in the imperial court and find happiness with Li Qian.

Rebirth For You Synopsis

Actress Ju Jingyi who currently has an ongoing drama in The Blooms at Ruyi Pavillion opposite Zhang Zhehan stars in another costumed historical to play Jiang Baoning. In her previous life, she presided over the imperial court as empress and later on as dowager empress before being assassinated by her own stepson. Reborn unexpectedly into her younger self, Jiang Baoning strives to make sure the events of her past life won’t happen again – the first of which is to ensure she never marries the emperor again.

Meanwhile, Joseph Zeng Shun plays Li Qian. The son of a general, Jiang Baoning hated him in her past life. However, in the course of working together to uncover the truth, they both gradually fall in love. The two eventually marry, but not without the machinations of the imperial court further complicating their life.

As for the rest of the cast, actor Wang Zhuocheng who you might remember playing Jiang Cheng in The Untamed nabs a supporting role in this drama. As Zhao Xiao, he is born into the royal family and is one of the suitors in love with Jiang Baoning. You can also expect to see Wang Yiting playing Li Qian’s half sister Li Dongzhi, Li Yizhen as Gao Miaorong, Li Yunrui as Qing An with veterans Cao Cuifen, Yvonne Yung Hung and Huang Haibing also making appearances.

So FRUSTRATING to watch.

This show started out great! I was enjoying it. I like the relationship the leads had in the first 20 eps (I think) and they have to throw some stupid misunderstanding in the last 10 eps that make this show become so stupid. FL started out so smart and then she just got dumb or something. the ML, too! Instead of talking to each other about it like they DID in the previous episodes, he just went to hangout with some chick at a brothel. and then he turned around and apologize then she kept on pushing him away. so this back and forth dragged out for like 6 episodes. And then the annoying villains that liked FL and ML won’t move on and kept getting forgiven. I got so angry watching this drama because of the stupidity!! The screen writter should find another job.
Also, WTF IS UP with FL HEAVY makeups and the beads on her head.

What A Mess..

Where to begin on this one. Wow. Let me start out by saying that I thought the acting was pretty well done, I have nothing against the actors/actresses in this show. I came here as a Joseph Zeng fan, and managed to actually finish a JJY drama for once. JZ and JJY had decent chemistry, none of it felt awkward. All the characters were portrayed well, to the point where you literally want to kill some of them.

The plot/writing is where it all goes wrong. The first few episodes had potential but once you reach 1/3 of the way in, you start to wonder what you’re even watching anymore and why. The script writers filled episodes with unnecessary stories.. so many of them. Had this been a 20 episode drama, it might have been somewhat bearable. By episode 30, the fast forward button became my best friend. It got to the point where as much as I was trying to push through, I had to put this on pause until all the episodes were released so I could fast forward to the end.

I hate to say it but this is probably the worst drama I’ve watched all year. The only reason this is getting a 5 from me (and not a 4) was because I did enjoy the OST and acting.

It’s Actually Not Bad

i wasnt interested to watch this drama because of Ju JingYi. not that i hate her, i just find that her acting is just so-so.
good thing that her character in this drama is very likable, she’s smart and independent.

Story :
there’s nothing new about the whole story. two peoole in love and jealous enemies.
the one thing i really find it irritating is that there are so many jelaous people around the main couple. it’s like two person wasn’t enought and they made it three. come on! dont those people have life? the over obsessions towards someone they love is just. so annoying! i’m already bored with evil 2nd female, and now evil 2nd male.
this could’ve been a way better drama if it’s not because of over jealous people around the main couple. way too many schemes over and over. but i kept watching because it’s actually not a bad drama.

Acting:
almost everyone’s acting is just.. either fine or just so-so.
however i did find Ju JingYi’s acting is getting better. apart from her exessive make up i think i starting to take her as an actress.

Characters:
-Jiang BaoNing : i like her, she’s smart, strong and independent. mostly she never fell for anyone’s schemes, except at the last few episodes.
— Li Qian: i like how much he loves Jiang BaoNing. i’m loving them together.
— Li ChangQing (Li Qian’s father): i like his interactions with his son and wife. especially with his wife
— Mrs He (Li Qian’s step mom): she’s a bit annoying at first but it’s all because of her naive personality. as the story goes i started to like her.
— Gao Miao Rong : what a scary woman!
— Zhao Xiao : can i just kill him already? he is the most irritating character of all! his obsession towards BaoNing makes me wanna slap him and yell «wake up. »
— Han Tong Xin : another over jealous character.
— Li Dong Zi (DongDong) : i like her character, really like her. she’s pretty, brave and strong.
— Qing An : i like his interactions with DongDong. such a sweet couple

Is this drama worth watching? yes. it’s not a super great drama but yes it is worth watching and quite enjoyable.
would i recommend this drama? absolutely.

Decent.

I have to admit, I’ve thought of dropping this drama a lot, so much that I lost count. But I did enjoy it on some particular parts.
STORY:
This plot is certainly not the best with the main point on the female leads struggles. If your looking for a good drama with a amazing plot, this drama is definitely not for you. For about half of the drama, the female lead had the antagonists who was obsessed with the ML and would do anything to break them apart. There were some palace politics but they technically all evolved around winning the Fl’s heart and breaking apart the two leads. There was a rushed ending if you ask me and the team wrapped up all the misunderstanding in two episodes. Not the best plot, but if your bored, might as well give this a try.
ACTING/CAST:
The acting wasn’t out of this world but it was decent. Acting from the support leads were just not it. The casting was what I had beef with. One after one, new actors came in and added more pettiness to the drama. It got so bad that I wanted to drop this drama so many times. All the criticism aside, The acting from the Grand Empress Dowager was phenomenal. She was on point with her acting and made even a few tears fall from my eyes. Definitely watched all the episodes just for her.
MUSIC:
I really like Ju JingYi’s voice. But i have to admit, I was a little disappointed with the OST of this drama compared with her other dramas like The Blooms at Ruyi Pavillion and Legend of Yunxi. The music isn’t really worth mentioning but I did enjoy it a little.
RE-WATCH VALUE:
Finally the re-watch value. I don’t see myself re-watching this anytime soon considering a lot of new dramas are airing. But one day if I do have time and have nothing to watch, sure. Maybe I’ll watch some of my favorite parts but the re-watch value for me isn’t so high.
Finally, overall, this drama wasn’t such a huge disappointment. But I had high expectations for it. I, in my opinion, think that the people in the comment section are over exaggerating how bad this drama is. I enjoyed it honestly but like I said, I am a little disappointed.

Not bad

I really like Ju Jingyu and Joseph Zeng. They make a cute on-screen couple. The drama started off good. Some politics, some comedy, some romance. The second half was nothing but drama after drama just to separate our lead couple. Some supporting cast had too much screen time. There were villains you really hated. I hated it after EP 32 but I powered through. It picked back up at 39 and though the ending felt rushed, it was a happy ending and everyone got what they deserved.

The story could’ve been better and blamed the writers. The pacing could’ve been better but I guess that’s on the post editing team for dragging out some plots. Joseph’s outfit was on point and he looked handsome in every scene. JJY outfit is questionable. They added unnecessary fluff but maybe that’s to add some volume to her tiny frame?

Overall, it was a cute romantics drama with some palace politics that went on for too long and unnecessary misunderstanding with our lead couple in the 2nd half. I’d say give it a try.

good start, but not good from the middle onwards

A lot of people have already written their negative reviews on this drama, so I would not say much.

For me, the drama had a good beginning when Bao Ning, Li Qian and Zhao Xiao joined the weaponry competition. It seemed like there might be interesting things happening among these 3 and the weapons in future, so initially was pretty looking forward to it. But in the middle of the drama, nothing seemed to be happening, like nothing big seem to be happening, BN and LQ fell in love, got married amongst jealous side characters including ZX. These side characters were always looking for ways to break the couple up. Started to feel a little bored and in the end the drama was just getting rid of those side characters one by one, but the tactics were not interesting either. I was always looking at how much time was left when I watched each episode because I didn’t feel excited at all watching and just wanted to finish the drama. As time went by, honestly, I even got tired of looking at the main couple.

And as others have pointed out, really didn’t understand what the title of the drama meant. ‘Rebirth for you’ hmm. nothing of that sort linking to the title happened in the drama. the Chinese title makes more sense, they should have just followed the Chinese title, ‘Legend of Jianan Princess’ or simply ‘Jianan Princess’ because legend seems too exaggerated. The FL, Bao Ning, definitely didn’t create a legend in the drama.

Nothing profound, it’s a classic formula for CDrama RomComs

I really enjoyed watching this one. Nothing profound but entertaining to say the least. Classic formula of a Chinese traditional/period RomCom. Good looking Main Leads.

Started of as an adventure of a mischievous FL and her warrior ML. Solving patterns and mysteries with their friends.

Then it turned a little to a political drama. Battle for power within the royals, then between nations. Some arranged marriages between major and minor characters. All this leading our main characters to find each other and fall in love.

After a while, the classic formula with CDrama became visible. ML and FL had a traumatic connection in the past. Almost everyone wanted the FL, almost everyone wanted the ML. Almost all except the villain.. All villains here are so obsessed either with their so called love or for power. After all the chaos when we think everything would be ok, it would seems like that the one responsible for the others death is a family of your love. Creating bunch of drama and conflicts for our main couple. Got a bit tiresome at around episode 30, but I decided to push through because the story’s almost finished anyway.

They did battle it out in the end with the help of their family and friends, to save their nation and their love. So, it’s still a happy ending.

Each to there own!

Ok this story didn’t quite hit the mark! It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great. Now the potential was there to have a really good story line but ended upgrade flat.

The basis of this drama is all about love triangles and roller coasters. Up to the first 10 or 12 episodes it was getting really interesting then too much water was added to a story to pad it out, and then they rush the ending! I would of liked more story to the ending instead of it being rushed.

I can’t complain about the actors they did their job really well, and the costumes and the sets they were beautiful.

Overall this drama is worth giving a go.

The first 12 episodes are the best

I’ve not yet seen such a lifelike drama. What do I mean? Well, life’s never perfect, and so are the plot lines of this series. Actually, the story is quite catchy and the main couple is pleasant to watch. But something goes awry over and over again with the logic of storytelling and motivations of some characters. If you are OK with that, the whole story is waiting. If not, I highly recommend to perceive the first, like, twelve episodes as a story of its own (and maybe stop watching after this). Actually, many people have already said the same thing. In case it still helps you to decide, there’s my kind of summary of the drama’s structure.

I have the feeling that the drama consists of several smaller stories. The first one is intriguing, well-rounded and bright. The second one is about family matters and would have been alright if shortened or fast forwarded (I couldn’t stand a foolish girl pursuing the ML (Li Qian) as well as a scheming girl whose character is interesting but there’s too much of here in the storytelling). The third one is about rescuing Li Qian from the enemy’s city (which is thrilling but totally unrealistic) and the last long one is about political interactions (which has a good potential but is too long and doesn’t seem lively due to Bao Ning’s depressed state of mind).

That’s all you need to know. Why write the rest of this long review? Well, I just loved the drama no matter how many flaws it had. If you want to compare your estimations of the heroes, you can look through these descriptions.

I really appreciate smart and daring main characters. Here are two: a princess Jiang Bao Ning and a guard Li Qian. Both risky and a bit sly, they work together quite nicely and overcome their difficulties with the energy and passion of young and talented people. Li Qian’s troubles come when he approaches Bao Ning too close; she’s meant to unwillingly put his life in danger after they develop a feeling towards each other.

Bao Ning is manipulative but not mean; she also proves to be quite forgiving towards her enemies and desperate when saving her wounded husband. I like how balanced her strong mind and weak body are. To protect herself, she needs to think carefully both when it comes to scheming and inventions. Alas, though she is shown as an inventor, her best creation is not shown in the last ‘biggest’ battle; otherwise, it would have been a good symmetrical storytelling since the story began with a constructors’ competition and ended when the secret weapon was finally made.

Li Qian’s my favourite character here. He’s the best warrior (though oh my, it’s really fun to see him running over the air when fighting or pursuing somebody), he’s quite independent to make his own judgment and he’s the one who… must have nine lives like a cat. Honestly, that’s where the story is unrealistic at all, because Li Qian’s being injured over and over again but somehow is capable of recovering very fast. Although it’s done to make the audience sympathize with him, I laughed nervously when Li Qian got several shots almost at the heart in just like two or three episodes in a row.

Their wedding – that’s what was really unexpected! Not in the last episode, but after the first ‘castle’ part of the story! This gave us the opportunity to see the family life of the main couple (and it covered the half of the story…) That’s what so lifelike about it. The princess has become the part of the common family and has to adjust to a new social role. What a waste it could have been for the country! She, who has manipulated herself out of the wedding with the emperor himself, must protect her dower from being stolen by the family members, vie with all kinds of sneaky or dumb girls for her husband, solve family matters and in the end find that her family’s still easily suspected being guilty of the 20-year-old crime. No wonder she was so offended, for a princess deserved a better treatment! I still think she overreacts in the last ten episodes, maybe she’s just stressed-out and thus unreasonable. But life never lets a person remain a carefree young girl and Bao Ning inevitably becomes more serious and tried.

Not only Bao Ning changes in the progress of the story, Li Qian does as well. To be honest, his boyish version of himself also suited him more but the adult and high-powered Li Qian is a decent image, too. I really enjoyed his affection to Bao Ning (risking his life is one thing but being on her side in everyday matters and being willing to refrain from intimacy due to her poor health is the other). I feel quite sorry for him because he suffers a lot due to his love to Bao Ning; firstly, when he saves a princess and must be executed for this, secondly, when Bao Ning’s marring him is seen like a mismarriage to her, after that – when his career development seems the princess’ meddling rather than his competent effort, then – when Bao Ning’s ex-fiancé constantly hurts him, and finally Bao Ning turns against Li Qian and almost divorces him in a painful manner. Although he matures and changes within this story, I can’t see much of a character development there. Rather, he is shown as a persistent variable, the one who will nobly do his duty. He’s skilled, brave and kind-hearted and mostly shows his devotion to Bao Ning, his family and country.

Long story short, watch the beginning and you’ll be hooked by the plot and the characters. Later you can create your own storylines ‘cause there’re many missed opportunities to the plot (though there are several cliches unused in the moments when you highly anticipate them).

My predictions did not come to fruition multiple times. I really believed Li Qian would be thought dead after disappearing on the battlefield (in the second arc of the story). That would have given either the emperor or Zhao Xiao a chance to marry Bao Ning. This would engage her into political schemes a bit earlier and would threaten her health since those two men wouldn’t be as patient with the wife as Li Qian was.

I also believed that the empress would be more important for the plot, as well as some second leads (such as Bao Ning’s friend’s family). As for Li Qian’s sister, she was enough present in the story but sometimes the logic was weird. Brother is captive? Never mind, the girl is in love and doesn’t care. She doesn’t seem too caring or intelligent since she behaves in a childish manner; nevertheless, I liked the part when Dongdong helped her lover who suffered a serious brain injury. I only wish they have developed that story a little bit to make it deeper.

The mother-riddle has solved out not in the way I’ve expected, too. Although it left the sad emotions, this part was alright. They would make a great small family of clever people, though: Bao Ning, Li Qian and his mother. But those who hope for Li Qian to find his mother won’t be satisfied.

Miao Rong was a character who was to be interesting to watch but somehow, she arose too many negative emotions in me. This is rather unusual because don’t get so emotionally invested to hate fictional enemies. She really did have some character development but I’d rather she didn’t. It would be more menacing if she remained that delusional girl thinking that Li Qian must be only hers. But she could gain more powers from the castle and therefore make her revenge brighter. She’s such a liar that it would be only logical to see how she manipulates the guy who loves her and deceives the new empress. Anyway, it was she who was manipulated and deceived in the broad daylight. Did becoming a positive character make her stupid?

Whom I really liked, though, were a new emperor and Bao Ning’s grandmother. These characters were really believable and sure to stick to their logic. The emperor is just a child who is full of moral virtues and dearly loves Bao Ning and her grandmother. He’s even nice to his step-mother’s son. Sometimes he lacks experience and can be manipulated but that’s what you should expect from such a young ruler. But he is fast to react and fix his mistakes, as well as to show his true emotions which makes his image both likeable and fragile.

Bao Ning’s grandmother is a quaint character. She combines the image of a prototypic caring grandmother and an intelligent ruler. She has enough power to change some castle outcomes. Sometimes she is merciless, so she isn’t perfect. But at least we believe such a person could have survived in the castle till the old age. Her love to Bao Ning, her clever pieces of advice, her sense of humour and the sympathy she arises with her image make her really one of the best characters.

The story has left a strange impression due to a very simple ending battle. I was sure everybody would be fighting fiercely before Bao Ning’s triumphal appearance with a super weapon. But everybody came running and watched from the distance how wounded Li Qian tried to fight all alone. At least Qing An should have had a spectacular fight with his step-brother for his country and throne, too! They should have added some background movement to show how many people were actually involved. (Did they run out of money while filming?) And it wasn’t a ‘good’ super weapon that destroyed the enemy. So… the ending episode was unbelievable and clumsy. Maybe that’s why although I liked to see the main characters and their friends all alive and living happily ever after the ending wasn’t that satisfying.

After watching all episodes, I feel that this story could have been more balanced in terms of editing, script and effects. But I really loved the characters and if I had some time, I would write some fanfiction to fill in the gaps of this story. All in all, the drama is the one I will remember due to some bright characters, the storylines (which were good or not quite) and some esthetical images of people, clothes, architecture and nature.
