Движок cider не использовал, так как он имеет ограничения и не поддерживает в этой игре все ништяки графики.

Чтобы зайти
в настройки WineSkin надо кликнуть на иконке игры правой кнопкой мыши и
выбрать из выпадающего меню строку «Показать содержимое пакета».

Либо выбрать иконку игры и щелкнуть «стрелку вниз» удерживая при этом клавишу «Command»

Появится окно c настройками WineSkin.

меняем файл запуска c:

После этого вписываем внизу в соответствующее окошко свое разрешение,

нажимаем » Patch » и вуаля, имеем Widescreen)

или просто редактируем эту строку запуска)

Все, закрываем и запускаем игру. Идем в настройки видео («Экран») и
выбираем то разрешение, которое пропатчили под Widescreen. Если будут
проблемы с запуском, снова патчим NFSCWD.exe c иным разрешением или
меняем его на родной NFSC.exe.

В раздачу включил 3 пака для улучшения текстур от разных авторов.

1) Меняем exe в строке запуска:

Выбираем иконку папки (click left button to select an app)

а если пропатчили игру под WideScreen, NFSCWD.exe

Затем выбираем пак с текстурами высокого разрешения, нажимаем «Select
Package» (иконка папки) и выбираем любой из трех файлов Graphic Mode HD
(рекомендую Graphic Mode HD 3.tpf). Один, а не 3 сразу.

Увидите этот файл в окне выбора

Нажимаем Run и идем пить кофе)

Появится черный экран, а через 2-3 минуты игра запустится в с
улучшенными текстурами. Стабильность игры на совести авторов паков.

В дальнейшем возвращаем строку запуска в исходное состояние и играем как обычно.

в форме, которые мешают нам кататься с немыслимой скоростью, было просто делом чести. И не важно, что на сегодняшний
взгляд игра больно угловата и непрезентабельна. В свое время нас было не оттянуть. К чему я все это говорю? Все просто.
Need for Speed Most Wanted – это прямое продолжение 3-й части. Именно в этой игре разработчикам вновь
удалось передать вкус бесшабашных погонь и ЖАЖДЫ скорости. Именно так, большими буквами.

Как играть в старые игры для Windows на Mac. Ностальгия 200%

Владельцы компьютеров Mac, к сожалению, лишены возможности играть в большинство топовых игр. Разработчики обходят macOS стороной, предпочитая создавать проекты для Windows или консолей.

Не спасает ситуацию скудный набор игр из Mac App Store или сторонних магазинов и “яблочный” сервис Apple Arcade. Первоначальная эйфория после получения сотни игр за 199 рублей развеивается, понимаешь, что для игры еще необходимо докупить аксессуары, да и годные игры вроде Fantasian встречаются в сервисе крайне редко.

В поисках игрушек на Mac набрел на довольно любопытный проект Porting Kit, который способен подарить часы или даже дни ностальгии игрокам со стажем или познакомить с олдскульный классикой молодых геймеров.

Что такое Porting Kit

Porting Kit – специальное приложение для портирования и запуска Windows игр на Mac без необходимости устанавливать вторую операционную систему на компьютере. Разработчики используют движок Wineskin с открытым исходным кодом. Это своего рода набор библиотек и файлов, необходимых для запуска Windows-приложений в UNIX-подобных операционных системах.

Вместо эмуляции и переноса логики Windows, как это происходит в виртуальных машинах, Wine трансформирует команды Windows API в понятные для другой ОС на лету. Из-за этого повышается скорость работы, а производительность не расходуется на эмуляцию.

Wine давно помогал пользователям macOS запускать Windows-совместимое ПО, но с отказом от поддержки 32-битной архитектуры в macOS Catalina разработчики утилиты начали испытывать трудности. Долгое время рабочего метода для новой ОС от Apple не существовало, а когда необходимые сборки на основе Wine появились, работали они с багами и глюками. Даже сейчас упаковать необходимое приложение в Wine для macOS Catalina или новее довольно сложно.

Именно эту проблему и решили разработчики Porting Kit. Они сделали упор именно на запуск старых игр и собрали все необходимые библиотеки для их полноценной и стабильной работы. Проект активно развивается, пару раз в месяц выходят обновления с улучшенной производительностью и исправлениям найденных ошибок. Лишь несколько старых 32-битных игр не получится запустить на версиях старше macOS Mojave.

Разработчики ведут работы по адаптации под Apple Silicon. Здесь, к сожалению, не все в их руках и зависит от создателей самого Wine. Однако, Porting Kit обещают сделать полностью совместимым с новыми компьютерами Apple, давая возможность запустить легендарные игры и на ARM-процессорах.

Какие игры работают с Porting Kit

Библиотека приложений Porting Kit уже насчитывает около 500 игр. Каждый геймер с игровым стажем 15+ обязательно найдет с десяток приложений и даже игровых серий, в которые залипал в детстве.

Вот перечень того, что зацепило лично меня:

► 18 стальных колес (целых 6 игр серии, из которых я знал всего две или три).

► Age of Empires, 9 игр вселенной от первой до третей частей с дополнениями и HD модификациями.

► Anno с доступными играми 1404, 1503, 1602, 1701 и 2070.

► Arma с первой версией, второй, модификацией Assault и Gold.

► Army Men серия из пяти игр.

► Assassin’s Creed от первой части до Revelations.

► Battlefield – первые пять частей.

► Brother in Arms все игры легендарной серии.

► Bully, в которую многие на момент выхода могли поиграть только на консолях.

► C&C с легендарными играми Red Alert, Red Alert 2 и Generals.

► Call of Duty – первые пять частей франшизы.

Такой “набор ностальгии” я собрал лишь из 1/5 части каталога. А еще там есть Company of Heroes, Cossacs, Crysis, Delta Force, Deus EX, Disciplies, Driver, Empire Earth, Fallout, Far Cry, Heroes of Might and Magic, Max Payne, NFS, Serious Sam, Star Wars JK, Tomb Rider, Quake и многое многое другое.

Набор игр очень солидный, есть крутые вещи для ностальгии, практически каждая игра в десятки раз лучше современных мобильных поделок и набора приложений из Apple Arcade.

Как установить и настроить Porting Kit

Для установки сервиса не нужно делать ничего сверхъестественного, просто переходим на официальный сайт и скачиваем установщик.

Программа для Mac является каталогом поддерживаемых игр с рейтингами и перечнем обновлений. Карточка каждого приложения содержит подробное описание процедуры установки, специальные требования и способы решения возможных проблем.

Возможно, что для работы потребуется определенная версия игры, набор дополнений или патч. В большинстве случаев будет даже работать мультиплеер, позволяя играть в локальной сети или через интернет.

Работает Porting Kit следующим образом:

▣ Сначала оболочка загружает нужный для запуска игры движок;

▣ Затем добавляются необходимые расширения для Wine;

▣ После этого загружаются необходимые для работы игр сервисы вроде Steam или Origin;

▣ Только после этого Porting Kit запускает привычный для Windows процесс установки;

▣ Завершается процедура упаковкой всего необходимого в привычное приложение для macOS.

Игра будет запускаться как отдельное самостоятельное приложение и не будет требовать каких-то дополнительных действий или настроек.

Как загрузить любую игру на Mac через Porting Kit

Для того, чтобы запустить любую игру при помощи данного сервиса, понадобится оригинальный диск или его образ в электронном формате. Некоторые игры могут быть приобретены или установлены при помощи платформы Origin.

Если же игра официально распространяется правообладателем бесплатно, то Porting Kit предоставит ссылку на скачивание установочного пакета.

Так вы сможете сдуть пыль со старых CD и установить игры при помощи внешнего “сидюшника”. Подойдут и образы игр, загруженные со всем известных сайтов. Делать так, разумеется, не нужно.

1. Запустите приложение Porting Kit.

2. Найдите интересующую игру в каталоге.

4. Нажмите кнопку Install.

5. Следуйте указаниям установщика и в нужный момент укажите путь к диску или образу оригинальной игры.

6. Дождитесь окончания установки.

Если в процессе установки возникли ошибки или игра не запускается после инсталляции, внимательно изучите все советы для установки данного приложения в Porting Kit. Чаще всего там будут указаны проблемные моменты, а еще разработчики пишут, какой именно образ (издателя\версию) использовали для тестирования. Возможно, понадобится найти другой диск с игрой.

Там же можете найти инструкцию по запуску сетевой игры.

Я сразу же проверил свои любимые стратегии детства: Dune 2000 и Red Alert 2. Первое приложение доступно бесплатно и загружается прямо в Porting Kit, а для второго пришлось поискать подходящий образ. В описании авторы указали работоспособность на сборке First decade. Именно на таком диске у меня и получилось запустить “красную тревогу”.

В итоге на пару дней залип в любимых играх 20-летней давности. В дальнейшем планирую установить еще с десяток классных хитов детства и вам рекомендую!

HAndy Tool, but outdated with macOS

The lastest version of macOS 12.2.1, broke this app. Now when you run a test it will glitch and the test reading will drop after the test is either paused or when it moves to re-start another test. it the 10 years i used this app this has never happend.

(2) we really could use a feature to choose what kind of test we want to have as in how many runs the app makes and say the menu bar. where tou can choose to have it (run once, or run unlimted times) this is so needed.

Blackmagic is now faster enough to rate internal SSD speeds, even the Startup Disk

Blackmagic has been updated to adequately report the speed of SSD devices.

When Blackmagic tries to read the Startup Disk, you get the message that the device is not writeable, hence you cannot rate the the transfer rates of the drive.

I found a workaround that will report the rates of the Startup Disk. Its quite simple. Create a disk image (.dmg) using the disk utility specifying file->new image->blank image. Make it big enough for Blackmagic to work with (7+ GB) and name it what you will. Mount the volume (if it is not already mounted).

In Blackmagic select the disk image mounted. Since the “volume” is on your Startup Disk, you will see how fast it drive is. On my 2016 MacBook Pro, I am seeing speeds like 1,000+ MB/s write, and 1100+ MB/S read. I have tried this on my older mackbooks with SSD and they do scale down as the device is older. On an older MacBook Pro the rates I see are 500 MB/S both read and write, as you would expect.

I have run Blackmagic on USB 2, thumb drives, USB 3, and USB C devices to see if I’m getting my money’s worth. You can easily detect when a device is performing subpar and, and with the spinning disk, you can see is transfer speeds deteriorates over time.

Almost Perfect, Great Price

Disk Speed Test is a very useful product and one cannot complain about the price point.

However, a few enhancements would make this program truly wonderful.

Ability to Specify Number of Runs
Instead of just running forever, it would be nice to be able to specify that Disk Speed Test is to run some user specified number of times.

Ability to specify the pause period between runs
At the default values, it is hard to stop the program after it has totally finished one test, and before it has started another. It would be nice to be able to specify a pause between runs.

Log File
It would be nice if Disk Speed Test had an option to save a log file with the test results for each run. Something that one could import into Excel or some other spreadsheet would be idea.

Command Line Run
The ability to run Disk Speed Test from the command line would allow for automation. And also for remote collection of such data by admins, who could use this feature with ARD or other secure command line login.

A must have app!

(Updating the review as I wrote my orginal review years ago) This is still a must have app. It is indispensable for average/casual users and apple nerds alike. I also highly recommend downloading Ian’s iOS apps. Great to have access to this very accurate information on all your devices. Download here now and then go download on iOS. You won’t regret it.
Even if you’re a casual user (i.e. not a tech geek) you should download this app. You will find it immensely helpful (especially in times of need like repairs, resale, getting replacement parts, etc.) for identifying your exact computer or idevice. For the Apple/Mac afficiando or collector, it is an invaluable tool. It’s also fun to just take a trip down memory lane through all the many, many years of Apple products. How many products have you owned? Do you remember your first Apple II from back in the 70’s? Ian Page has done an excellent job with this app. Thank you Ian!

My Goto Reference

I’m an IT Professional and this is my goto reference app, especially for legacy equipment. Some of the key features are being able to lookup RAM on the fly, what OS X or iOS a system was shipped with, the latest iOS or OS X a device can run, as well as the all important Apple classification of «Supported, Vintage or Obsolete» Thanks so much for including build and model numbers with all of the various generations of product lines.

It’s worth installing just to take a trip down memory lane with a history lesson regarding such groundbreaking innovations as the 10th Anniversary Macintosh, The «Cube» i.e. The Power Mac G4 Cube, and especially the xserve line which I’m still heartbroken over losing.

One last thing. Get in touch with the developers of MActracker if you find this program usefull! I did.

Great reference app

This is a great reference application when it comes to Apple products (especially hardware). Now sure, something like this can easily be thrown into a web interface, but having a quick, and lightweight app to pull this kind of information is really nice. The smart categories in particular can really help speed up your search; for example, you can create a category for Macs with Coffee Lake CPUs, or all Mac models that are currently supported. Of course, you can get way more specific with category criteria, but I think the point has been made. Occasionally, there can be delays when it comes to the addition of new products, but this isn’t really a significant issue (if one at all).

Search Beyond The Spotlight

Unhappy with Spotlight because it does not find files that you know to be there? Use FAF to find every file on your disks, including those usually hidden. By file name, date, size, and even plain text content (but not text in Word and PDF files, see note below).

• Recover a file whose name you partially remember?
• See what files got changed in the past 5 minutes?
• Find all the large files on your disk?
• Uninstall software that leaves files in hidden places where Spotlight doesn’t look?
• Search with regular expressions?

Find Any File (FAF) is the perfect tool for these tasks.

You can even search on disks that are not indexed by Spotlight, including network server (NAS) volumes.

Find Any File can find files that Spotlight doesn’t, e.g. those inside bundles and packages, and inside system folders that are usually excluded from Spotlight search.

Contrary to Spotlight, it does not use a database but instead searches the data on disk directly. This lets you search for file properties such as name, creation and modification dates, file size, even plain text inside files.

Another useful feature is its hierarchical results view (see screenshots). It lets you view the found items within their respective folders, making it often much easier to browse through 100s of found items.

If you are excited about Folx Go like I was, you should hold on and do a little research. I wasted my money but I hope I can save yours.

If you are able to download this program elsewhere from the app store, you will notice that you are provided with more options than the one you buy on the app store. This product on the app store is basically useless. I can not download torrents, it doesn’t ready my downlaoded items most of the time, even if it is not a torrent.

However when I downloaded a version from Cnet, I noticed that there are more options and easier to use. The functionality works well.
With that said, I would not be paying more money to purchase this from there website, I already wasted 15 dollars from a useless program. And the good version that they sell on their website will cost me 20 bucks.

‘Folx Go+’ is useless. ‘Folx Pro’ is good, but lets be real. It’s not worth 20 bucks. It’s not worth half that. A lot of programs u can download on CNet for free have all the capabilities that Folx does.

I have been usijng this for 2-3 years and it has become one of my favorite programs. I am a computer nerd and appreciate a well-written program. Works logically and dependably. What more can I say? You want more than your money’s worth? This is it.

Fantastic, fast, and smooth from my small use

Had no qualms with the “square logo” version. I used it often, using both Active Directory logins and local logins. Did mass software installs on multiple machines simultaneously all remotely from the app. This one I feel like runs even faster and smoother than the last one! Great job, devs. I also can see on here that the devs are responding to many of the (often unbelievably whiny and uppity) complaints on this review page, often proving the customer wrong or letting them know that their desired feature is forthcoming. Thank you for your dedication, dev team. I feel these guys deserve a 5-star review. The average rating for this app largely seems to be due to customers’ ineptitude or ignorance, so the rating really isn’t fair or telling of the quality of the app.

nearly perfect

Poor Performance

MacOS version works but has horrible peformance compared to the Windows version. Connecting to a local Windows 10 machine over 1 gbps Ethernet has very noticeable lag and low framerate. Using Windows 10 RDP client to same Windows 10 target on same network is dramatically faster. All 3 are using 4k resolution (at 4k though even Windows RDP client has some noticeable lag but nothing compared to macos RDP client).

Setting up resolution too a lot of manipulating with choosing «optimize for retina» vs. not. I suspect this is the issue with the slowness, that both sides cannot agree consistently on DPI and resolution settings so there is a lot of scaling going on on both sides. Sometimes DPI is messed up and Windows target shows massive fonts, but if I exit and re-enter full screen it will resolve. Probably also due to the scaling is image being blurry in some cases.

No stars off from this, but it would be nice if modifier key remapping was possible, as control/option/start button/alt are in annoying places. Also annoying is that control left/right arrow to move cursor is not possible as macos intercepts it for switching between full screen apps. But this is macos limitation.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 is a 2002 racing video game, the sixth installment in the Need for Speed series and the sequel to 1998’s Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit. It was developed by EA Black Box for the PlayStation 2, and by EA Seattle for GameCube, Xbox and Windows. It features cars from various high performance and exotic car manufacturers. Players can compete in races using these cars, or opt to play as a police officer and pursue speeders.

The game features several popular recording artists from its time such as Uncle Kracker, The Humble Brothers and Hot Action Cop. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 received «generally favorable» reviews on the PS2 and Xbox, while the PC and GameCube versions received «mixed or average» reviews, according to review aggregator Metacritic. In 2002, the game was awarded Console Racing Game of the Year at the 6th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 is a racing game with an emphasis on evading the police and over-the-top courses featuring lengthy shortcuts. It draws primarily from the gameplay and style of one of its predecessors, Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit. Two primary game modes are offered: World Racing Championship, in which the player competes against other drivers in a series of races, and Hot Pursuit Ultimate Racer, which adds police to the races. In the latter players must complete the races while also evading capture.

There are several a la carte race types in Hot Pursuit 2. Delivery is a timed point-to-point dash, with the police in pursuit. This is similar to the delivery mission in Porsche Unleashed while the police pursuit makes it more challenging. Sprint is a point to point race where competitors try to get from one end to the other before their opponent. Time Trial gives players three laps on a level with the goal being to beat the required time to get the gold, silver or bronze medal. Lap Knockout eliminates the last racer in each lap until one player remains the victor. Knockout follows a similar principle, but eliminations are made to the last racer at the end of each race. Races are usually restricted to a certain class of cars. Faster cars are used near the end of the Championship and Ultimate Racer modes.

The player also has the option to play as a police officer trying to arrest speeders. The player must disable speeders by ramming the speeding vehicle multiple times to disable it, akin to a PIT maneuver. The player must turn on their lights and sirens while in pursuit. As a police officer, the player can call for a barricade, additional units, spike strips, and request help from a helicopter to assist in chasing the target vehicle. At the end of each event, the player is awarded for the number of arrests. The PlayStation 2 version, this mode is called «You’re the Cop» mode while in the Windows, GameCube, and Xbox versions, it is called «Be the Cop”.

The game features cars from a variety of manufacturers. One or more cars are available from the following manufacturers: Aston Martin, BMW, Chevrolet, Dodge, Ferrari, Ford, HSV, Jaguar, Lamborghini, Lotus, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, Porsche and Vauxhall Motors. Many vehicles have an unlockable police variant for their respective mode. Hot Pursuit 2 also contains Need for Speed Edition cars, which are upgraded versions of some of the stock vehicles.

Races take place in four environments which differ in atmosphere, each with a few unique courses. The courses in an environment are formed by different roads being connected or separated by road blocks. A fictional tropical island, reminiscent of Hawaii, is the most varied environment; the track traverses a city as well as near a volcano, waterfall, beach, rainforest, and two villages. The coastal forest environment is reminiscent of the Washington coast because of its forest and nature. The Mediterranean coast which resembles Greece because of the stadium and a building which resembles Parthenon. Lastly the so-called Alpine environments that resemble Alaska are more homogeneous, with little variation except the occasional short cut. The PlayStation 2 version also contains a Desert environment resembling the Sonoran Desert of Arizona that sometimes has thunderstorms in the North American Monsoon.

The PlayStation 2 version did not feature a career mode. Instead, there is a point system where cars are purchased from winning races. Points are determined by laps led and finishing position. In the Championship and Hot Pursuit trees, extra points are awarded if a medal is won. If the tree is completed, extra bonus races are unlocked. These races include the hardest competitors and the hardest courses. For the multiplayer mode of the Windows version, players can host a game server for LAN or internet based playing. In addition to this, the GameSpy internet matchmaking system can be used to publish and locate such servers.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 received «generally favorable» reviews on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, while the Windows and GameCube versions received «mixed or average» reviews, according to review aggregator Metacritic. In 2002, the game was awarded «Console Racing Game of the Year» at the 6th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards.

The game received praise during its E3 debut and prior to its release. GameSpot’s Jeff Gerstmann noted that «fans of the original Hot Pursuit will likely find a whole lot to like in Hot Pursuit 2 when it ships». David Smith of IGN lauded the return to the police chase action. He stated that Black Box «went right back to the best game in the Need for Speed series (c’mon, it was) and decided to create a sequel to it.»

Maxim gave the PlayStation 2 version a perfect five out of five stars and stated that it «not only gives you the keys to more than 20 exotic cars, it also gives you the unsurpassed joy of leaving traffic cops in the dust.» Entertainment Weekly gave the game a B+ and stated, «Killer aerial shots, intense chases, and a rock-infused soundtrack make for a heart-pounding ride.» BBC Sport gave the GameCube version a score of 80% and stated that «With plenty of racing challenges it should have a decent amount of longevity but their repetitive nature might grate for some.» AllGame also gave the PlayStation 2 version a score of four stars out of five and said that it «offers an impressive amount of arcade-style fun bolstered by the number and variety of courses, challenging Hot Pursuit mode, and excellent lineup of vehicles.»

Ratings and Reviews

Every good thing you’ve heard about Magnet is true!

Magnet has become one of those absolutely essential programs that I immediately miss when I use a Mac that doesn’t have it running. It’s entirely worthy of its ludicrously high Customer Ratings; if you have the slightest inclination toward buying it, I heartily encourage you to do so.

For anyone that lost «Snap windows by dragging» functionality, click the «Help» menu in-app.

After upgrading to MacOS Big Sur, I lost the «Snap windows by dragging» functionality and manually setting every window through the clicking the Magnet icon in the taskbar and selecting from the drop down menu was really inefficient. It was very frustrating.

If this happened to you too, there is a very simple fix that should have been the obvious first troubleshooting step, but took me a ridiculously long 5 weeks to discover and try: click the «Help» option in the Magnet app and follow the very simple instructions in the front page FAQ covering this issue. It took all of 30 seconds to fix, most of which time was spent entering my password in System Preferences to unlock modifications to my Accessibility settings.

It only half-works.

I’ve had continuous problems with this app since installing it. When using the menu on the top bar, apps reliably are resized to whichever part of the screen I choose. However, dragging an app to an edge of the screen to have it automatically resized only works sometimes. It’s so inconsistent. I’ve had Firefox open in more than one window and one of the windows would get picked up at the screen edge just fine, but then the other one wouldn’t. I’ve had apps that I’ve tried to resize by pulling them to the edge of the screen and it didn’t work over and over again, then the app just got chucked onto the next Desktop over rather than actually resize in the right way. It’s very frustrating! I’ve found myself resizing apps manually which really defeats the purpose of having this app. But, sometimes, it’s just less of a struggle. I’m sending a message to the support. Maybe they’ll be able to fix this. Update: I contacted support and nobody even bothered to respond to me. I waited a while so I certainly gave them enough of a chance to respond. I even offered to help them track down the issue. I consider this a real deal-breaker for developers not to care enough to respond to a paying customer. Considering this and the issues I’ve had with this app, I do not recommend it. If you do decide to get it, understand that there’s obviously no guarantee that it’ll work, or that you’ll get any support whatsoever if you encounter issues.

Game using way to much resource

After Updating the game, The game seemed to run very slow and often laggy even though the settings were same as before (Lowest settigns possible). I checked the activity monitor while playing the game and realized that the game is using more than 120% of CPU%. I wonder whether this is due to lack of fine optimizations as it transferred into 64bit game from 32bit game. Please fix this immediately and let me play the game smoothly again. Other than that, I also had the issue of game crashing right after it loads after updating but I deleted every file related to this game using apps like «AppCleaner» then reinstalled the game which then allowed me to properly run the game (but with that laggy performance.)

A Deal Here?

There is a deal to be had here. I’ve played buggier versions of Civilization games on different platforms, and Aspyr support helped sort out whatever problems i had with this one. However, in terms of the cost, i’d say you’re better off going to find the game on the Steam marketplace. The complete Civ V experience involves the two 30$ expansion packs, Brave New World and Gods & Kings, neither of which are included here. So, essentially, to get the full experience, you would have to pay the initial 30$ for the Campaign edition, then another 60$ for the two major expansions. Steam bundles them occasionally for substantially less.
If you do feel like paying 90$ here, then i’d say go ahead and enjoy yourself. After two years i still find myself enthralled by this game. It’s a deep and meaningful experience that you don’t get in a lot of strategy games, or games in general, nowadays. Make sure your mac can run this game on the highest setting though. This is not a deal breaking condition, but it does look much nicer on the highest resolution.
All in all, there is a deal to be had here, especially if you’re only interested in the basic CIv V experience. But it’s up to you whether paying an extra 60$ for the full version is worth it.

The speed test is like an infinite loop.

There is absolutely no way for the program to terminate by itself. One has to manually stop the test. If such a test goes on for a longer time then it can affect the health of the SSD. It’s really a poor poor design choice. Any good program should terminate successfully after doing the necessary task. An update is crucial. There should be a time limit for every individual test and the program should terminate gracefully after the completion of the test.

Работа с сетевыми ресурсами по протоколу NFS в macOS

Поддержка протокола NFS в macOS принципиально ничем не отличается реализаций на базе Linux. В каждой macOS уже есть встроенный NFS клиент и сервер, который включен в конфигурации по умолчанию.

В данном примере каталог Projects на съёмном накопителе Files будет доступен для всех пользователей сети в режиме чтения.

Начиная с macOS 10.14 (Mojave), демону nfsd необходимо разрешить работу с диском. В противном случае он не сможет получить доступ к этому диску. Предоставить такой доступ можно через:
«Настройки» → «Защита и безопасность» → «Конфиденциальность» → «Доступ к диску».

Такую же операцию необходимо выполнить и для брандмауэра, если он включен.

Выполним перезапуск демона nfsd:

Теперь поговорим о настройке NFS-клиента.

Чтобы всякий раз не выполнять подключения NFS-шары вручную (⌘+K), можно настроить механизм автоматического монтирования.

Создадим конфигурационный файл:

Имя удалённого каталога не может быть на кириллице, иначе automount не сможет смонтировать каталог.

Для проверки автомонтирования выполним:

Теперь при каждой перезагрузке macOS NFS-шара будет автоматически монтироваться для любого пользователя.
