Medal of Honor: Vanguard is the tenth installment in the Medal of Honor series of World War II first-person shooters. It was developed by Electronic Arts’ Los Angeles studio and released for the PlayStation 2 and Wii on March 26, 2007, in the United States.
Vanguard and its PS3/Xbox 360 successor Medal of Honor: Airborne and its Wii/PSP successor Medal of Honor: Heroes 2, are the last and final three Medal of Honor games set in WWII (until Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond Vanguard is the last Medal of Honor game to be released for the PlayStation 2 and the first to be released on the Wii.

Gameplay [ ]
Players take on the role of Sgt. Frank Keegan, a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, taking part in Operation Husky, Operation Neptune and Operation Market Garden. Keegan is later transferred to the 17th Airborne Division after Market Garden and participates in Operation Varsity.
Players are able to customize their weapons, such as adding a telescopic sight to a M1 Garand rifle and a drum magazine for a Thompson submachine gun, although these upgrades are only available on certain levels.
At the start of each of the operations, players parachute onto a battlefield (with the exception of a glider insertion at the start of the Invasion of Normandy) and can roughly designate where they land. Players who land at certain points in a level will be able to pick up weapon upgrades and ammunition. Missions can be played out in different ways depending on where the player lands and which weapons the player obtains.
Content-wise, both versions of the game are the same. However, the Wii version implements the Wii Remote to accomplish such movements as crouching, jumping, making quick turns, weapon strikes, reloading, and shooting. These actions are accomplished with a standard video game interface (buttons and joysticks) on the PS2 version and are also an option on the Wii.
Characters [ ]
Campaign [ ]
Single player starts with Allied invasion on Sicily (Operation Husky). Keegan and his squadron fly in C-47 airplanes above Sicilian coast when AA guns open fire. The plane breaks in two parts, but Keegan’s squad parachutes and survives. They fight through an occupied town and take a house where they spend the night. In the morning, Italian forces make a counterattack but the paratroopers push them back to the coast. There, Keegan destroys two beach cannons and their mission ends.
A year later, Operation Neptune starts. Keegan’s glider breaks over Normandy forests, but he survives along with Garrett. They fight through German occupied villages in order to find their sergeant Maggnuson. They find him in a church, where they get trapped as Germans launch a counterattack. Keegan tries to exit the church but is hit across the head by a Fallschirmjäger. He passes out, but wakes up with his squad. They then continue clearing the villages and rescuing trapped paratroopers. In a bridge detonation, some of them die and Keegan nearly dies as well. He passes out again and Magnusson wakes him next morning, but gets quickly shot in head and killed by a sniper. This makes Keegan a new leader. Keegan leads the squad to a German mansion headquarters. There, they almost get killed as many Panzers attack and destroy the mansion. Keegan uses Bazooka to destroy them all and saves the area. After this, he is promoted to the Sergeant.
As a Sergeant, Keegan goes to Holland in Operation Market Garden. Paratroopers jump to a German farm in outskirts of Grave city. There Keegan destroys several anti aircraft guns and steals documents. Keegan’s squad set ambush to Germans in a barn. After securing one farm, they retake and defend another one, then assault a nearby bunker and destroy an Anti-Aircraft Gun atop it. After destroying the AA Gun, A C-47 is shot down by a nearby AA Gun and crashes into the Waalbrug Bridge. Keegan crosses the bridge, clearing out German resistance along the way, then destroying the AA Gun on the other side of the bridge. Lieutenant McCollum arrives and accompanies Keegan’s squad on the way to the Grave city. When Keegan’s squad reaches Grave, Germans ambush the Allied paratroopers on the main town square. Keegan continues intense fighting on the streets, destroying many AA nests, and reunites with his squad. The battle ends when Keegan destroys the last Tiger, however, Chalmers was killed during the battle.
The last Allied operation, Varsity, included landings across Rhine River to get into Germany. Keegan lands to the beach and barely survives German defense. Intense fighting continues when paratroopers take German ruins. After ruin defense, they move to a trench complex full of bunkers, mortars and Tigers. They then move to the ruined industrial complex full of snipers. Keegan clears half of the factory alone and meets with the squad outside. There, they realize Germans launched a massive counterattack. Falschimjagers and tanks attack the factory, but Keegan and his squad repel the attack with Bazookas and MG 42 machine guns. The campaign ends as Germans retreat from the factory and Americans celebrate their victory over Nazi war machine.

Weapons [ ]
Medal of Honor: Vanguard features American and German weapons (although no Italian weapons despite Italian soldiers appearing in Off Target). Enemies will randomly either drop their weapon when killed or ammunition, on some missions they will never drop a specific type of weapon. Whenever the player is required to fight tanks, there will usually be a M9A1 Bazooka available. Two weapons can be ‘upgraded’, the M1928A1 Thompson, which can be upgraded to use 50 round drum magazines, and the M1 Garand, which can have a scope attached making it into an M1D, These ‘upgrades’ can only be found on certain missions and most of them are located in an area that can only be reached by parachute.

Medals [ ]
Throughout the game, the player is able to earn medals for completing certain requirements:
| Medal | Requirement | Award |
|---|---|---|
| Campaign medal | Complete all Husky campaign levels | None |

Music [ ]
Almost all of the music in Medal of Honor: Vanguard was reused from previous games, as well as using three new tracks that were created specifically for Airborne. The music was composed by Michael Giacchino.
Multiplayer [ ]
Multiplayer has been included in the game in the form of a 2-4 player split-screen mode with both the Wii and PS2 versions. (The PS2 version requires a multi tap to support more than two players.) This is currently the last Medal of Honor game to feature split screen mode. There are five modes:
Reception [ ]
Overall Vanguard received «average or mixed» reviews.
GameSpot gave the game a 5.5 out of 10 for both the Wii and PS2 versions. Most criticism for the game focused the poor graphics engine, lack of online play, and poor enemy intelligence. Also criticized was the fact that many of the game elements were already featured in the series or by other WWII shooters (with the exception of the parachute drop). Aaron Thomas of GameSpot stated that «There’s really no reason to pick it up on the PlayStation 2, and thanks to a higher price tag for the Wii version, there’s very little reason to buy it for the Wii, either».
United Kingdom-based Website Mansized scored Vanguard a mere 2/5, claiming «Vanguard is a pretty shocking game».
Official PlayStation 2 Magazine UK gave it 5/10 and called it «The weakest MOH yet. Nothing but a poor man’s Call of Duty.»
GamersUnited.org gave Vanguard for Wii a D-.
On Metacritic, the game has scores of 63 for PlayStation 2 and 56 for Wii.
On GameRankings, the game has scores of 64.35% for PlayStation 2 and 57.45% for Wii.

«Get down, Keegan!». you hear these words a lot. or at least I did. It was my first time playing a
Medal of Honor game and I was caught «Get down, Keegan!». you hear these words a lot. or at least I did. It was my first time playing a
Medal of Honor game and I was caught off guard. I was shocked at the level of difficulty it displayed and it had only been the first mission. I’m reconsidering my options at this point, thinking I should just play something else but I’ll give it one more shot. it was easy this time. That’s when it hit me. I come to realize that I wasn’t the one to blame for those last few times I got stuck on that wall, or couldn’t pick up ammo properly or swear I peaked and leaned that one guy on the window with the stupid hat but missed entirely. I was destined to win this next mission but I was going to need a little more than just luck to help me, I needed the game to work as it was intended and for the next 15 minutes, to not bug out.
Honestly, I don’t really have much of a problem with this game. Yeah, it’s extremely buggy and weird but once you get passed that, it’s almost like playing a FPS built for a Windows 95. Not that there was anything wrong with MS-DOS games but let’s just say, time wasn’t on their side. It’s kinda the same thing happening with Medal of Honor: Vanguard, you just have to accept things won’t go your way sometimes. That aside though, I found there were some good aspects about the game, like having the setting be based in World War II or having various character stances, having the missions be memorable and of course giving you the ability to have those 360 no scope moments. Not to mention the vast selections of weapons you get to learn about and use throughout, specifically those involved at the time of World War II.
This game markets itself as «The Bestselling WWII Franchise» and it’s honestly deserving of it’s title. While it’s not much, I have to say I agree. You didn’t have all the options in the world but in the FPS genre, sometimes less is more. You want to just be as efficient as possible without having to think too much, and I can honestly say you will feel that effectiveness when playing. For context, you had all your own grenade options at the touch of a button. There was even specific actions for leaning slightly while in aim mode which got me out of so much trouble. I don’t there was ever a time I blamed the controls for something and that means a lot considering I couldn’t find a perfect control scheme in something like say, 007: Nightfire which had like 6 or 7 to choose from.
Frankly, I can get down with this game. That’s probably the reason I finished it in it’s entirety despite everyone else’s wishes. I know it might not be the most well-polished or most accepted in the FPS community but if the game is fun but looks terrible, that’s still time well spent in my eyes. Personally, I’m looking forward to my next MoH experience, this was only my first but it definitely won’t be my last and if a game can pass that modest test then I think it speaks for itself.
Almost forgot to mention, If you’re one of those people who look to games for finding new bangers to play at your next party. this probably isn’t the game for you. After thinking about it, I don’t really remember any specific type of tracks that stood out to me besides maybe one during a cutscene. Other than that, this game just comes packed with nothing but gun shots, nade explosion FX, people screaming at you all the time and I mean ALL the time and just about what you’d expect out in your typical warzone battlefield. So just appreciate it for what it is. Also, the character models could use some work.
Whoever the writer for this game is probably didn’t have to do much work considering it’s based on a true story and was a staple of common school board World history but that aside, the presentation was great. Not much to say other than you probably deserve some recognition for military representation in video games or something. Perhaps, even something in the field of dramatization or transition scenes used when most appropriate in cutscenes. Anything except things in the field of accuracy cause we all know there weren’t just random bazookas lying around in 2 story mansions with 3 carts of ammo ready to be picked up when needed back in those days but I wasn’t there so I wouldn’t know. … Expand

Medal of Honor: Vanguard Review
Medal of Honor: Vanguard is yet another run-of-the-mill WWII-based first-person shooter.
By Aaron Thomas on March 28, 2007 at 5:43PM PDT
To say first-person shooters based on World War II are a dime a dozen might be putting it mildly. There are still some great ones every now and then, such as Call of Duty 3 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but even the best WWII games are getting dangerously close to having their top-notch gameplay overshadowed by the «been there, done that» feeling you get from doing the same or similar missions over and over again. There’s no great gameplay to be found in Medal of Honor: Vanguard, so there’s nothing to hide those feelings of déjà vu that you’ll get when you play it. Nearly everything in the game has been done before, and it has all been done better.

Vanguard places you in the role of Frank Keegan, a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne division. Each mission is set up with a bit of black-and-white footage narrated by Keegan, followed by a brief cutscene once the mission starts. It’s the same basic story from previous games, and you’re not likely to give it a second thought. There are four campaigns, each of which is divided into two to four missions. You’ll be fighting in Italy, France, the Netherlands, and Germany, doing just what you’d expect to be doing in a WWII FPS. You’ll plant charges on enemy antiaircraft weapons, procure documents, rescue missing soldiers, clear bunkers, use bazookas on tanks, and shoot a ton of Nazis. You’ll get to do a little bit of parachuting here and there, but there’s nothing to it—you have a tiny bit of control over where you land, and it doesn’t matter a whole lot where you end up. There’s no online play to speak of. This isn’t a huge shock on the Wii, but considering that other Medal of Honor games for the PS2 have had online play, its omission is notable. You can play some split-screen multiplayer if you’d like, but come on—this is 2007, not 1997.
Even if you can look past the clichéd mission objectives, there’s plenty of other issues to bring you down. Enemy artificial intelligence is atrocious. Nazi soldiers exhibit no advanced tactics, unless you count ducking their heads back behind cover for a few seconds after bullets whiz past as an advanced tactic. Even if they do seek some sort of cover, they’ll just stick their heads back out in a few seconds so you can shoot them. The soldiers you fight with are just as brain-dead, and it’s almost comical to watch your group fight the enemy—everyone’s in plain sight, but nobody’s hitting anything.
One of the biggest problems is horrible hit detection for bullets. It routinely takes two or three shots to register a hit, if it registers at all. Most weapons have terrible range, so you’ve got to get pretty close to your target to get a kill. Nazi soldiers don’t seem to have this problem and can easily hit you from any distance, through even the smallest openings. It makes it pretty tough to find cover when you can’t see who is shooting you, or even discern the enemy’s general location. You don’t have a health bar, but your screen grows red as you get hit, so you’ve got to take cover to regain health. Even this system, which has been used in countless other games, doesn’t work very well. You’re frequently given very little warning that you’re getting hit and near death; sometimes just one or two seconds pass from the first shot to the last. All of these problems are at their worst near the end, when the developer tried to make up for the game’s brevity (you can beat it in about six to eight hours) by making the last two missions ridiculously difficult. The checkpoints are few and far between, and you’re getting shot from all angles. It’s extremely frustrating and not much fun. Thankfully, the controls are fine, and being able to look around corners is a nice touch.

Medal of Honor: Vanguard looks pretty much like every other WWII game out there, though it looks a little better on the Wii compared to the PS2 version, thanks to widescreen and 480p support. The frame rate isn’t all that fast, but it’s usually consistent, slowing down only when things get really hectic. You’ll fight in bombed-out villages, fields, and churches, as well as inside war-torn homes. Most of these locations aren’t very interesting, though there are some nice touches here and there, like when you look up in the sky and see it filled with paratroopers. Very little of the environments are destructible, and outside of some decent-looking smoke, the effects aren’t much to get excited about. There are lots of browns, grays, and greens, which makes it hard to discern enemy soldiers from their surroundings unless they’re firing their weapons. There are some decent enemy death animations, but they often take place a full second or two late, which makes them look quite silly. Probably the game’s best aspect is its audio. You’ll recognize the main theme from previous Medal of Honor games, and the orchestral soundtrack kicks in when the action gets intense. The game’s sound effects are good, and while the voice acting isn’t remarkable, it is helpful. Your fellow soldiers will warn you to get down when you’re getting shot and even point out enemy locations from time to time.
With so many World War II games already on the market, just being average isn’t enough anymore. In many ways, Medal of Honor: Vanguard isn’t even average; it does too many simple things poorly and does nothing particularly well. There’s really no reason to pick it up on the PlayStation 2, and thanks to a higher price tag for the Wii version, there’s very little reason to buy it for the Wii, either.
Medal of Honor Vanguard
It’s Friday, you’ve just been paid and you want a new game for your Wii. We know, we understand; it’s been a bit barren for the last couple of months, after all. So for the benefit of those popping in to see if we’ve reviewed MOH on the Wii before heading down to their local game emporium, here’s the executive summary:
Don’t bother. It’s crap.
Got a couple more minutes on your hands? Allow us to explain.
Court-Martial
There’s a theory, as yet unproven, that the Wii will be a great console for FPS games, and occasionally we see a glimmer of that promise shining through. The otherwise utterly execrable Far Cry: Vengeance had a surprisingly well balanced control mechanism, let down somewhat by the fact that there was nothing interesting to see or shoot at. The upcoming Metroid Prime 3 has worked extremely well on its various demo outings.
So we think that FPS games might be pretty good on Wii, with a bit of tweaking to the mechanics of the hoary old genre. Unfortunately, like fat people shovelling pomegranate seeds into their mouths because some scientists somewhere said they might be quite good for you under certain circumstances, publishers have leapt on this cautious endorsement of the Wiimote for first-person blasting as a license to launch every FPS franchise in the arsenal on the console.
That’s not a good thing.
The idea behind Vanguard (aside from «quick, get a game out for the Wii! It’s what all the cool kids are buying!») is that you are one of the grunts of the 82nd Airborne Division, who parachute in to soften up an area before the main assault. This, sadly, is basically an excuse to shuttle you around between the various generic encounters you’ll remember from every WW2 game you’ve ever played. You’ll find yourself hauling your way through a bombed out French village, clambering through trenches surrounded by snipers to clear a path for your unit, attaching charges to artillery guns, being handed a rocket launcher just in time to take down a couple of tanks, capturing a field command bunker and then defending it against an assault.
Dishonourable Discharge
But. It’s a Wii game, right? So even if the levels are badly designed, the encounters are dull, and the objectives are exactly the same as 20 other games, surely the addition of Wiimote controls is an automatic injection of pure fun, distilled directly from the DNA of Shigeru Miyamoto himself? That’s the magic of the Wii, isn’t it?
Just in case the sarcasm in the above paragraph isn’t quite apparent enough, the answer is «no».
So for example, to reload in the heat of a firefight. Wave the nunchuck right. Riiight. To crouch, wave it down, to rise, wave it up. Credit where credit is due, the game also allows you to wave right to do an immediate 180 degree turn, which fixes a key problem with the turning speed in Wii FPS titles. However, it’s all too easy to trigger these actions either by accident, or when trying to do something else. Developers take note; players aren’t actually likely to see the funny side in trying to reload while behind cover, only to jump into the air and turn your back to the enemy instead. At least not when it happens for the fifth time.

Medal of Honor: Vanguard Hands-On
We arm ourselves with a Wii Remote to see how EA’s upcoming first-person shooter handles on Nintendo’s new console.
on February 21, 2007 at 10:33AM PST
Though we’ve seen EALA’s upcoming Medal of Honor Vanguard on the PlayStation 2, we’ve been very curious to see how the game is going to shape up on the Wii. The WWII-based first-person shooter is the latest installment in EA’s long-running Medal of Honor franchise, which had you running around in historical settings on the original PlayStation. We recently had the chance to pop down to EA’s Los Angeles studio, which is currently hard at work bringing the game to Nintendo’s console, to check out a work-in-progress version of the game.
The core Medal of Honor Vanguard experience on the Wii is the same as its PlayStation 2 cousin. You can expect to see several of the biggest military operations of the European theater, such as Market Garden and Varsity. However, the game will add some variety to the MOH formula by working in airdrops that find you leaping out of a plane and landing in the battlefield. The system doesn’t offer as much freedom as the upcoming MOH: Airborne on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, which lets you land anywhere you want. However, your landing options include areas marked by green smoke that indicate landing points, which will offer you such tactical advantages as weapon upgrades or equipment.
Because the game’s content is basically the same as the PS2 game, our big point of interest in Vanguard is the control scheme, which seems like it should be a good fit for the Wii Remote and Nunchuk combo. Our work-in-progress version of the game had the control scheme implemented, and though it could use some tightening up, it definitely had some potential. You’ll use the Nunchuk for all things related to movement in the game and a few other odds and ends. You’ll use the analog stick to move and lean left or right. The C button on the Nunchuk will let you jump, while the Z button will let you cycle between standing, crouching, and lying prone. You can also use gestures with the Nunchuk to perform these actions. The gestures have been set up fairly intuitively, so they make logical sense. Moving your Nunchuk up lets you jump or adjust your stance. Moving it down will get you to crouch or lie prone. You’ll also be able to perform a 180-degree turn by flicking the Nunchuk to the left, which isn’t mapped to a button and is exclusive to the Wii game. Titling the remote will let you zoom in and out on targets when you’re in sniper mode. Finally, flicking the remote to the right will let you reload your weapon.

Because the Nunchuk handles movement duty, the remote is tied more to your aim and interactions. Aiming is central to using the remote, which you can do naturally by pointing at an onscreen cursor in line with your motions. When you have a gun equipped, you’ll shoot your weapon by hitting the B button. When you’ve got grenades equipped, you’ll hold down the B button with your cursor aimed at where you want to throw, then you’ll pull back and swing the remote forward (kind of like fishing in Zelda) to toss your grenade. Switching weapons gets a little tricky and requires you to use the remote’s D pad, which you’ll need to use for several actions. Hitting left on the D pad switches your primary weapon, hitting right equips grenades, holding up lets you sprint, and pressing down centers your view. The 2 button reloads your weapon, and the 1 button will let you perform a melee attack (which you can also do by moving the remote forward). Finally, the 1 button lets you interact with the environment by placing charges or opening doors, to name a few possible actions.
As we mentioned, the setup has potential but just needs some tightening. Though the game features a single control scheme, the team is putting in some options to let you customize elements, such as tweaking your turning sensitivity, locking your vertical view to make sure you don’t get too disoriented, and locking the aiming reticle. What we played took some getting used to, as is the case with most Wii games, but felt pretty workable after some adjustment. The only sticking point for us right now is the use of the D pad, which can be problematic when things get hectic. The D pad was just high enough to be slightly out of comfortable reach while playing but may be something we’re OK with after more play time.
In playing through the two levels in the demo, Shallow Grave and Haunted, we got more accustomed to the setup and were able to do well by the end. Our only rough spot was the D pad, but, as we mentioned, we were able to get a bit more comfortable with it by the time we played through the levels. The game’s award system is a pseudo Xbox Live achievement system that rewards you with some performance upgrades, such as improved sprint bar recovery, health recovery, and overall health. You’ll find several different awards to earn in the game that range from medals you earn from completing episodes to more specialized distinctions. For example, some awards will require you to complete a level without dying or earn several different performance awards in one level.
Besides the single-player game that we were able to try out, Medal of Honor Vanguard will feature a split-screen multiplayer mode for up to four players. The game will offer five game types: deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture the flag, king of the hill, and scavenger hunt. While the first four game types are pretty self-explanatory, scavenger hunt is a bit different in that you’ll have to collect supplies that are air-dropped into a level and take them to a drop-off point. If you are able to collect the specified number of drops and deliver them to the drop-off point, you win. The downside to the multiplayer mode is that it’s offline only.

The visuals in the game are a few cuts above the PS2 game and feature smoother performance and cleaner detail. Though there isn’t a vast improvement over the PS2 visuals, the game definitely looks good. The environments are detailed and feature a modest level of interactivity that fits the action well. Character models are well done, and animation is coming along, although it is rough in places. The game’s 480p and 16×9 widescreen support help complement the cinematic feel that’s a staple of the series. Vanguard’s audio follows the MOH formula and offers solid accompaniment to the onscreen action. You’ll hear the usual mix of weapon fire and explosions in battle. At the same time, the game features a good assortment of ambient audio that includes squadmate chatter, which helps immerse you in the chaos.
As of right now, Medal of Honor Vanguard has a lot of potential to be a strong first-person shooter experience on the Wii. The game content is solid, and the control scheme could work very well once it’s tightened up. The game’s split-screen multiplayer support suits the Wii sensibility, but we’d like to have seen some online multiplayer action. All told, Medal of Honor Vanguard has a good deal of promise that makes it one to watch. The game is currently slated to ship this March for the Wii and PS2.

If you enjoy a first person shooter WWII game, you’ll love the feeling of being in the action of Medal of Honor: Vanguard. The graphics are crisp and the sound of bullets zipping past and the ding of the occasional helmet shot make it a fun experience, but you won’t find gameplay that you haven’t experienced before from similar games, even ones from the MOH series. Ultimately, with Call of Duty around, EA has some improvements to make in order to keep up
Parachute In
As Corporal Keegan, 82nd Airborne Division, a parachute drop gone wrong has you surviving somewhere in Italy and finding Sgt John Magnuson, gathering supplies, and fighting off the enemy in a small Italian coastal town. The objective is to secure a set of enemy guns that have their sights set on any Allied ships that may be a threat.

The next mission is part of the Normandy invasion, called Neptune, and hooking up with what would be the famed Band of Brothers. Landing in spots marked with green smoke provide you with the ability to pick up weapon upgrades and ammunition. The objective here is to destroy key bridges across the Normandy landscape.
Two more missions follow
Market Garden, a famed WWII battle where upon being promoted to Sargent, you must lead your squad and survive battling enemy Tiger Tanks and heavy fire from a MG42 machine gun. Then, Operation Varsity which is the by far the most difficult. attempting to fight through a field of snipers and hopefully pushing back the German Troops. This is not the easiest of missions. If they are retreating, you know you’ve accomplished your mission, if not, you’ve died again.
Choose Your Weapon
Medal of Honor: Vanguard allows you to customize your weapons. You can choose from telescopic sights, to drum magazines once you’ve hit certain levels. This adds variations to the game as your success is dependent on landing zones and the types of weapons you choose. So, the way it all plays out is in your hands. There’s intelligence to discover, but it’s fairly easy to decipher. Choose your weapons wisely.
Being familiar with WWII and the camaraderie and pride it took to overwhelm the determined Axis powers is a plus. The graphics and sound are great and it feels like you get to be a part of what was the Great Generation. Those who were devoted to freedom at all costs banded together across all walks of life.

The maps are a bit simple and it’s not a big improvement from other version of the series. Your squad mates yell out enemy locations, but it can sound a bit redundant after a while. The missions go from fairly easy to you being bullet ridden in the final mission Varsity.
Looking up and seeing a sky filled with paratroopers is a nice touch. There is some banter from enemy troops which is not exactly helpful, but adds a dimension to the game that makes it more interesting.

Medal of Honor Vanguard ReviewI love the smell of MG42s in the morning.Vanguard, the latest chapter in the 8-year-old Medal of Honor franchise, puts players behind a World War II rifle as Corporal Frank Keegan, a shooter in the 82nd Airborne Division. For four campaigns, Keegan and crew run and gun through ten missions that take them from Sicily to France to Holland and to Germany. As a video game reviewer, I realize it can seem as if all I do is swoop in and poop on people’s efforts to make a great game. Although I’m about to do my fair share of No. 2 on this title, I want to make it clear that this is a fun game. I have some pretty specific complaints, but there’s still the sickly-sweet dings of bullets hitting helmets, authentic weapons, big ol’ explosions, detailed environments and some genuinely fun gameplay moments that make Vanguard a worthwhile addition to a Medal of Honor fanatic’s collection. Those ideas have been scrapped in Vanguard. See, the first three campaigns of Vanguard are laughably easy. You’ll find yourself raking in Silver Stars, medals awarded for not dying during a mission, and coasting through the battles no matter which of the three difficulties you decide to roll with. I’m all for difficult games. I like to be challenged, having to think about my attack and overcoming the odds to defeat an army of enemies. However, the only enemy you’ll find yourself cursing in «The Crucible» is the checkpoint system. This jerk’s seen his last sunset! As the finale to the game, the level is extremely long and time consuming as you crawl through a bombed-out building filled with snipers, take on a bunker filled with angry gunners and go shell-for-shell with a team of tanks. Sounds like fun, right? After a dozen attempts, you’ll discover it’s not. See, the enemies in Vanguard aren’t smart; they’re dummies that run to the exact same spot and stand where you just blew away one of their friends. When you lose to these drones, it’s because you got clipped trying to make it back for bazooka ammo or because one of your own equally vapid comrades was blocking your view. You’ll play for half and hour, get killed unceremoniously by the swarms of enemies tacked on to the mission and restart the segment from a checkpoint 15 to 20 minutes back. More frustrating? Once, I did everything right, made it to the big tank battle near the end of the mission and the game got stuck on one of its lame cut scenes. I guess the soldier who was supposed to tell me tanks were shooting at us got stuck on a box or doorway. I was left without a way to advance and forced back to the checkpoint I’d played from a handful of times. BasicsBasicsListen up flabby, you won’t make it through the war alive looking like that. Read this here guide to avoid eating a dirt sandwich.
Assuming the proper fighting stance is integral on the field. There are three positions: standing, crouching, and prone, and each has their own place during battle. Use the standing position for getting from point A to point B quickly, crouch when darting through an active battlefield, and lie prone for taking cover behind low objects. In general, you should crouch whenever given the opportunity, as your accuracy improves substantially, and makes you much more difficult to hit.
Medal of Honor doesn’t have any fancy «health meters» or «hearts» that reflect your current health. Instead, your health is reflected in your viewpoint. If your vision turns fuzzy and you see a thickening red border, that means you’re about to die. Thankfully, you’ll automatically regain health if you can avoid taking further damage for a few seconds; once the red border subsides, you’re good to go.
If you find yourself kissing the ground more often than you’d like, you’re likely not using cover often enough. For the most part, the only time you shouldn’t be hiding behind an object is when you’re running to the next point of cover. An unprepared soldier is often a dead soldier. Keep your gun at the ready by reloading early and often, especially after every gun battle. Sometimes those few extra bullets are the difference between life and spending the rest of your life in a casket.
Aesop fable references aside, treating a war zone like a marathon is a sure-fire way of getting killed. As mentioned throughout this guide, don’t be afraid to take it slowly! You can do far more damage by shooting into a war zone than from the middle of one. While it may seem that some areas have an infinite amount of soldiers, even the enemy’s supplies are generally finite. So take your time and think about your actions before proceeding. Medal of Honor: Vanguard First LookEA has not one but two entries in its vaunted World War II series coming this year. Find out what’s new in the PS2 and Wii game. By Brad Shoemaker on January 19, 2007 at 11:44AM PST A few months ago, we got our first look at Medal of Honor: Airborne, EA’s first iteration of its long-running World War II shooter series on next-gen consoles. But Airborne won’t be the only Medal of Honor to ship this year—and it’s not even the only MOH game being produced at the company’s Los Angeles development house. Medal of Honor: Vanguard will hit the PlayStation 2 and Wii on March 26, and we got our first chance to find out what’s going on with the game (and take it for a spin ourselves) at EA’s recent press event at its Redwood City headquarters.
Vanguard will revisit several of the biggest military actions throughout the European Theater, like Operations Market Garden, Husky, Neptune, and Varsity. But you won’t come at them from the same way you have in past games. Vanguard shares a new design element with Airborne: Each major operation will be preceded by a paratrooper jump, which will see you hurtling out of a plane and drifting into the battle below, rather than setting out at a predefined start point. Vanguard seems to give you a little less control over your landing than Airborne (which lets you land just about anywhere within the mission), but you do get green smoke signals on the ground that indicate strategically important landing points. For instance, in the sample mission we saw, one landing marker was placed atop a two-story house that German soldiers had fortified. While the rest of the Allied force was assaulting the house from the ground, producer Joe Fielder chose to parachute onto the roof and through a hole into the attic. Doing so allowed him to toss down a grenade and clear out all the enemies manning the windows in one moment, and then mop up the rest of the soldiers in the house with little opposition. This was in contrast to our own attempt at the same mission, during which we fumbled our landing and touched down out in the yard. We were then required to fight the Germans from the ground outside, which naturally required a lot more effort. You won’t have to aim for these designated landing zones, but it will certainly pay to do so. Some afford strategic advantages, as in the previous example, while others will provide you with your only access to useful weapon upgrades. A windmill on the same battlefield in the mission we played had a sniper scope that could be used with the M1 Garand to turn it into a sniper rifle, and you’ll find other equipment, like a 50-round drum for the Thompson submachine gun, in other areas. Aside from the paratrooper drops (one of which will actually see you sailing into battle in a glider), Vanguard follows the MOH formula closely. Fielder calls the game a «return to classic MOH» that collects the best elements of the previous entries in the series. One improvement to the game is the «AI dialogue» system, which is meant to more accurately tailor the conversations between both your allies and enemies to the circumstances of the current battle. A sprint ability has also been added, which naturally helps you get from one cover point to the next without taking as much enemy fire.
The PS2’s hardware may be getting on in years at this point, but it’s obvious the Vanguard team knows how to squeeze as much performance from it as possible. The characters purportedly feature roughly twice as much geometric detail as past games (a fact we found believable based on what we saw in game), and there are increased smoke effects, lens flares for sunlight, and so on to round out the relatively impressive degree of realism. On top of that, Vanguard was running with a surprisingly smooth frame rate. The new consoles may be wowing early adopters with their whiz-bang visual abilities, but anyone who’s stuck by that old workhorse the PS2 should be fairly well pleased here. Vanguard clearly isn’t turning the Medal of Honor formula on its ear, but given the continued popularity of this series over its multitude of iterations, that probably won’t bother fans much. What we saw of the game is looking quite solid and refined, which means it shouldn’t have a problem meeting its late-March ship date on the PS2. A Wii version is also forthcoming, though EA says it won’t be ready to disclose information on that one until a later time. Medal of Honor: VanguardWe’ll begin emailing you updates about %gameName%. Medal of Honor: Vanguard ReviewMedal of Honor: Vanguard is yet another run-of-the-mill WWII-based first-person shooter. By Aaron Thomas on March 28, 2007 at 5:43PM PDT To say first-person shooters based on World War II are a dime a dozen might be putting it mildly.
Like most of the other first-person shooters on the Wii, Vanguard has been saddled with lackluster controls. The basic controls are fine, and being able to look around corners is a nice touch. Once you get a hang of aiming and looking around with the Wii Remote, you’ll find that it offers much more precision than the PS2’s analog sticks. But because many of your moves are mapped to the hard-to-reach face buttons of the remote, you’ll find yourself accidentally moving the remote and thereby altering your aim when you try to change weapons or select a grenade. Don’t even bother trying to move the remote forward to melee—you almost always mess up your aim and miss. You move around by using the Nunchuk’s analog stick, and this works well. The problems come with the more advanced controls. The Nunchuk’s buttons are used to change your stance from prone to crouching to standing, but you can also do this by moving the Nunchuk up or down. It doesn’t take much movement to make this happen, and you’ll often wind up crouching or standing up at very inopportune times. You can turn 180 degrees by moving the Nunchuk quickly to the left, but if you move it to the right, you reload your weapon. Needless to say, mixing these two up is an easy and often fatal mistake.
Medal of Honor Vanguard ReviewThe best looking (but not best playing) wartime first-person shooter on Wii.Vanguard marks the first Medal of Honor title for Nintendo’s new system and the second wartime shooter after the aforementioned Call of Duty 3. From the start, the production values are impressive, as the game spits out catchy, pristine music to battlefield montages leading into real-time cut-scenes. Oftentimes, in-game cinematics on Wii lack chorography and detail, especially when the game in question is developed across multiple systems. Publishers have a disappointing tendency to lump Wii in with dated systems like PlayStation 2, and therefore the Nintendo version of the games share the same assets and ultimately look identical. This is largely true of Vanguard, but even the base production values are well done and that carries over to the Wii version. One of the real-time cut-scenes that enhance the mood of the shooter. The game’s visuals are much-improved over Call of Duty 3 for Wii. Medal of Honor is not exactly a visual stunner, but it does make Call of Duty 3 for Wii look like a previous generation effort by comparison. The title boasts more varied environments complete with vivid colors and rich backdrops, its particle effects engine is more robust and its lighting effects are in another universe completely. When you’re in a darkened hallway and you fire off your gun, the muzzle fire will illuminate not only the surrounding area in quick bursts of light, but also soldiers around you, too. It’s a very moody undertaking that beautifully complements the action. Meanwhile, the environments themselves are skinned in more detailed textures, lessening the smear effect so commonly seen when characters are structures are viewed up close. The downside to all of this visual clarity is that Vanguard generally runs at a worse framerate than Call of Duty 3, which moved along smoothly for the most part. The game does, however, support both 16: 9 widescreen and 480 progressive-scan modes. Bring up the Iron Sights and blast away at enemies. VerdictEven with that being true, Vanguard is fun and pretty wartime first-person shooter on Nintendo’s Wii and If you played Call of Duty 3 and want something more atmospheric, this is your game. Its overall presentation is much better and the resulting experience much more engaging. Plus, it’s got a decent four-player compatible multiplayer mode, which CoD lacked completely. But Vanguard’s controls, while adequate, are looser than Activision’s shooter, which is a disappointment. The developer has almost made up for the less desirable responsiveness with a host of control intricacies, from an analog lean in sights mode to a quick 180 turn and a sprint option and they’re all welcomed additions. And yet, none of them mask that basic control shortcoming entirely. If you can live with it, and I suspect many can, you will undoubtedly find Vanguard to be an entertaining and intense first-person shooter. For me, this is just the beginning of better games to come. I don’t want to choose between tight controls or good graphics. I expect them both. EndgameEndgame is a mission in Medal of Honor: Vanguard. This is the first mission of Operation Varsity. This mission is a massive difficulty spike when compared with earlier levels, especially on Elite, as this level is far longer than previous levels, as well as there being far greater quantities of enemies and very long intervals between checkpoints. EndgamePrevious levelNext levelCharacterWeaponsPlaceEnemiesMultiplayer mapContentsCharacter [ ]Overview [ ]Endgame starts with a parachute drop past the Rhine into Germany, there are two designated areas in the drop, one is on the beach where there is an M1D Garand conversion kit, the other (far more difficult) option being a tower. Try to aim your jump at the tower, because you can kill the two German machine gunners, and yet use the MG-42 against the germans, giving to you more american soldiers alive to help you. The first objective is the eliminate the MG42 in the tower, if you landed on the beach use the M1D Garand to snipe the machinegunners, if you landed in the tower, then this objective is trivial, simply shoot them from the roof, where they can’t see you, when you have taken the tower pick up an MP40 as your secondary weapon. Your next objective is to clear the beach of hostiles, if you landed in the tower, then go to the beach first and get the M1D scope before doing this objective, the beach contains a very large number of German infantry, far larger than the amount found in previous levels as well as having a minefield surround the designated path, the player must be careful to avoid stepping on a mine as they fight their way through the beach. First kill the machinegunners in the distance overlooking the beach after they are killed stay behind cover and use the Garand to pick enemies off from a distance as they focus on your squadmates, on Elite, be especially careful around enemies with Karabiner 98s as they can kill the player in two shots. While fighting across the beach the squadmates will inform the player of their objective, which is to destroy Flak 88s so the Army can deploy into Germany. When Keegan reaches the end of the beach a large number of German soldiers will advance on the player’s position, when this happens run behind cover and pick them off, then quickly advance, if the player does not advance these enemies will respawn indefinitely. After reaching the hill (and checkpoint) Keegan will immediately be greeted with a machinegun nest, use the M1D to deal with it from behind cover, after advancing a second MG42 will block the players path, deal with it the same was as the previous one. At the end of the hill, turn right, then kill the two German soldiers guarding the first Flak 88 before destroying it with a charge. After the Flak 88 is destroyed move upwards and kill the two Nazis guarding the farmhouse ruins, once they are dead a lengthy cutscene will play, in which, a halftrack starts firing on Keegan’s sqaud’s position, suppressing them, while an allied plane is shot down by another Flak 88 and German infantry prepare to assault your position, beginning the hardest part of the mission. This section is another ‘hold the line’ segment, however unlike previous ones you are pinned down by two bunkers with 4 MG42 each and two halftracks, attempting to leave the farmhouse ruins will result in Keegan getting mowed down in a hail of 7.92mm bullets, the only option is to defend the ruins from three waves of massive quantities of infantry, to make this section even harder, if you die here you will be sent back to the bottom of the hill, which could be up to 5 minutes earlier in the mission. For the first wave, the Germans will attack from the left side of the farmhouse, move over there and crouch behind a wall (be careful not to be within the line of sight of either the machinegun nests or halftracks) and pick off the enemy infantry with the M1D. When you hear the enemy say ‘Fight! Press the fight!’ the second wave will attack, this time from the front, your squad will retreat behind the ruins, and they will suggest you do too, however, it is easier to kill the German soldiers from inside the middle of the ruins, as they are less likely to shoot the player there, although if you decide to do this be extremely careful not to expose yourself to either the halftracks or MG42s, a safer version of this tactic is to stay behind cover and kill these enemies with grenades. When the Germans say ‘Storm the building!!’ the third wave will assault the farmhouse directly, when you hear this immediately run into the dugout in the farm house and stay behind cover with the MP40, this way they are unlikely to target you and will instead try to kill your allies, simply shoot the enemy infantry with the MP40 as they run past. Once the final enemy assault has been stopped, wait for your allies to run behind a pickup-truck as cover and quickly do the same, be extremely careful when doing this as the MG42s and Halftracks are still a threat and if you are killed here you will go back to the bottom of the hill, as there is still no checkpoint. Then carefully and quickly move into the trench, when you reach the trench you will have finally reached the second checkpoint as well as the rest of the mission being considerably easier. The first section of the trench contains three soldiers armed with MP40s then an MG42 nest supported by another three soldiers with MP40s and a marksman, after clearing them out turn right and you will find the second Flak 88, which is being guarded by three more MP40 wielding soldiers, kill them then destroy the Flak 88. Advance to the bunker, kill the soldier who tries to shoot you through the firing port and then breach the door, clear the out the bunker, this part is quite easier compared with the earlier parts of the mission. Once the bunker has been cleared, place a charge on the exit and leave the bunker, outside there is an AA gun guarded by regular German infantry in the trench, as well as Waffen SS armed with Sturmgewehr 44s who fire upon you from outside the trench. Afterwards a Tiger 1 will try to drive across the trenches, but will get stuck, however the turret will still fire at you. There are no Bazookas in this mission, so you have to walk up to it and destroy it with a charge, when walking up to it, there is a dugout containing German infantry, clear them out first before dealing with the tank. After destroying the tank, there will be several Germans firing at Keegan from outside the trench as well as some in the trench others in a dugout and a second bunker with an MG42, use the Garand to snipe all of these threats before advancing. After all immediate threats are eliminated, advance with the MP40 and breach the bunker door, clearing the second bunker is pretty much the same as the first one. After clearing it there will be a short cutscene, then your objective will update to ‘clear third section of the trench’ and the bunker door will open, directly outside are a fireteam of 4 riflemen, on Elite they could kill you immediately if you are not careful. After killing them move forward then right and you will find the third Flak 88, guarded by a few soldiers with MP40s, kill them and destroy the Flak 88. Continue to move through the trench, along the way some Fallschirmjägers will try to stop you. After killing them, kill the mortar teams. Finally place a charge on some boxes blocking Keegan’s squads path and then a cutscene will play, during the cutscene a Tiger will drive over the trench (this time it wont get stuck), heading for a nearby factory, an allied bazooka team will attempt to destroy it, but only manage to immobilise it, before being killed by the Tiger’s 88mm cannon, the bridge will collapse from the blast, separating Keegan from his squad, then the mission ends as Keegan and the three soldiers who were not trapped on the other side move into the factory. Upgraded Weapon Location [ ]The M1D conversion kit is found by the green flare on the beach, right at the start of the mission, it can be obtained even if the player did not land in that spot, as it is possible to simply walk over there after landing. Medal of Honor: VanguardAwards & RankingsEssential LinksUser Reviews«Get down, Keegan!». you hear these words a lot. or at least I did. It was my first time playing a Honestly, I don’t really have much of a problem with this game. … Full Review » Medal Of Honor Vanguard Dolphin Emulator 4 0 1080p HD Nintendo Wii 12:43 16.74 MB 10.7K Medal Of Honor Vanguard Dolphin Emulator 5 0 12581 1080p HD Nintendo Wii 11:44 15.44 MB 5.9K Medal Of Honor Vanguard De Nintendo Wii Con El Emulador Dolphin Gameplay En Español 41:15 54.29 MB 148 Medal Of Honor Vanguard Wii Gameplay HD 14:47 19.46 MB 22.8K Medal Of Honor Vanguard Wii Android Gameplay Dolphin Emulator 16:51 22.18 MB 10.6K Medal Of Honor Vanguard на Dolphin Snapdragon 636 Wii 20:02 26.37 MB 468 Medal Of Honor Vanguard Dolphin MOD Snapdragon 865 2x Resolution 07:58 10.48 MB 444 Medal Of Honor Vanguard Wii Highly Compressed 600MB 04:47 6.30 MB 3.9K Medal Of Honor Vanguad Classic Controller Setting Gamepad Dolphin Emulator Android 15:30 20.40 MB 19.2K Medal Of Honor Vanguard WII EDITION VARSITY ENDGAME Dolphin 5 0 40:38 53.48 MB 46 Medal Of Honor Vanguard One Level Playthrough Using The Wii S Action Replay SD Card D 13:22 17.59 MB 57 Medal Of Honor Vanguard Wii Gameplay Dolphin Emulator Android Realme 3 Pro 16:09 21.25 MB 0.9K Medal Of Honor Vanguard Wii Dolphin Configs Gameplay Com Ipega 9025 11:59 15.77 MB 457 Medal Of Honor Vanguard Nintendo Wii Trailer How 02:01 2.65 MB 21K Medal Of Honor Vanguard Multiplayer Wii Archive 22:51 30.07 MB 3.2K Medal Of Honor Vanguard WII EDITION MARKET GARDEN Dolphin 5 0 51:49 68.19 MB 17 MEDAL OF HONOR VANGUARD 2021 Medal Of Honor Vanguard WII EDITION VARSITY THE CRUCIBLE Dolphin 5 0 01:06:01 86.88 MB 44 Skyscraper On Dolphin V2 0 Nintendo Wii Emulator 03:07 4.10 MB 1.8K Medal Of Honor Vanguard 2880P Pcsx2 Configuracion Extrema GamePlay 16:37 21.87 MB 1.3K Guerra En Wii Campaña Completa Medal Of Honor Vanguard 06:54:11 545.09 MB 92 Soluzione Medal Of Honor Vanguard Wii 01:32 2.02 MB 116 Medal Of Honor Vanguard Wii Redmi Note 9s Pro Snapdragon 720G 03:55 5.15 MB 2.1K Medal Of Honor Vanguard Medal Of Honor Vanguard Wii Trailer 01:20 1.75 MB 1.1K Medal Of Honor Heroes 2 Nintendo Wii 10:10 13.38 MB 37 Medal Of Honor Vanguard WII EDITION OPERATION HUSKY Dolphin 5 0 34:04 44.83 MB 20 Medal Of Honor Vanguard Nintendo Wii Trailer Using Iron 01:32 2.02 MB 176 Medal Of Honor European Assault Dolphin 4 0 Perfect Mission 10 Farmhouse Liberation Full HD 1080p 20:58 27.59 MB 1.6K Sensession History 133 Medal Of Honor Vanguard 02:14 2.94 MB 1.8K MEDAL OF HONOR VANGUARD WALKTHROUGH 8 Predators 09:45 12.83 MB 1K Gameplay With Best Setting For Medal Of Honor European Assault For Dolphin Emulator On Android 05:43 7.52 MB 435 Medal Of Honor European Assault Trailer Español PS2 1080p 01:31 2.00 MB 3.7K Medal Of Honor Frontline Español Dolphin 4 0 Full HD 1080p Perfect Mission 7 Aterrizaje Forzoso 17:30 23.03 MB 1.4K Medal Of Honor Vanguard Missao 1 Ps2 PARTE 1 06:03 7.96 MB 771 Medal Of Honor Vanguard Wii 1080P 60FPS Walkthrough Part 3 16:02 21.10 MB 440 Medal Of Honor Vanguard Nintendo Wii Trailer Get To The Medal Of Honor Vanguard PCSX2 Vr 1 4 0 FPS 60 Smooth Gameplay Windows PC 04:57 6.51 MB 6.3K PCSX2 VS AMD FX8320 8 Cores Medal Of Honor Vanguard Gameplay OpenGL 1 16:16 21.41 MB 2.4K Medal Of Honor Airborne German Longplay Part 1 Von 2 Unkommentiert 1440p 60Fps 01:53:20 149.15 MB 53 PS2 Medal Of Honor Vanguard Husky 28:57 38.10 MB 68 Medal Of Honor Vanguard Full HD Settings AetherSX2 V1 1 Red Magic 7 09:40 12.72 MB 1.3K Medal Of Honor Heroes 2 Español De Nintendo Wii Con El Emulador Dolphin Gameplay 34:45 45.73 MB 277 Medal Of Honor Vanguard Nintendo Wii Trailer Push The 03:01 3.97 MB 655 Medal Of Honor Vanguard 1 12:01 15.81 MB 221 MoH Vanguard Wii Gameplay Review 13:41 18.01 MB 172 Gameplay De Ano Novo Medal Of Honor Vanguard Leg PT BR 23:33 30.99 MB 613 Medal Of Honor Vanguard Missao 1ps2 PARTE 2 Medal Of Honor Frontline Español Dolphin 4 0 Full HD 1080p Perfect Mission 1 Tu Hora Decisiva 07:10 9.43 MB 5.3K GAME PLAY MEDAL Of HONOR VANGUARD WII 01:16:14 100.33 MB 49 Для вашего поискового запроса Medal Of Honor Vanguard Dolphin Emulator 4 0 1080P Hd Nintendo Wii мы нашли 50 песен, соответствующие вашему запросу. It was developed by Electronic Arts’ Los Angeles studio with Budcat Creations and released for the PlayStation 2 and Wii on March 26, 2007, in the United States. ContentsPlayers take on the role of Sgt. Frank Keegan, a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, and 17th Airborne Division fighting the Axis forces of Nazi Germany and the Kingdom of Italy. The first mission, which is Operation Husky places Keegan in a C-47 aircraft somewhere off the coast of Sicily Suddenly, the plane explodes, and Keegan is thrown out. He manages to deploy his parachute and make it to the ground, where he fights through a town against Italian forces. Once through the town, they make their way around the coast to a bunker somewhere in Sicily, and shoot their way in, defeating the German forces inside. For this level, you are armed with a Thompson submachine gun, you may pick up weapons such as the MP40 and the M1 Garand rifle. In the second mission, Operation Neptune, Keegan is transferred to the 17th Airborne Division glider unit for the invasion of Normandy. The glider crashes, and Keegan and one other soldier are the only surviving soldiers. They fight their way to another group, where they proceed to blow up key bridges across the Normandy landscape. Afterwards, Keegan crosses a swamp, cuts down paratroopers and destroys a halftrack. Keegan proceeds to destroy one other bridge and makes his way to the chateau where the Germans are headquartered. They fight their way through, only to discover it’s a trap and they’re fenced in by four Panzer Mk. V tank. After defeating the tanks, they discover that their Sergeant has been killed, and Keegan becomes their Sergeant. This is the first level where you can use the MP44 gun. The third mission is Operation Market Garden. During the operation, Keegan’s squad fights their way through the countryside until they reach the Dutch town of Nijmegen, where they encounter heavy fire from MG42 machine gun emplacements throughout the town. The mission ends when Keegan destroys a Tiger tank in the town square. The fourth and final mission in the game is Operation Varsity. The mission starts when Keegan lands in the bank of the Rhine River, where they take heavy fire from Wehrmacht forces. They make their way to a German farm, where they fight off terrible attacks before continuing on to a German trench system. After neutralizing the trenches and the bunkers surrounding them, Keegan makes his way through a factory held by German snipers. The final battle of the game takes place outside of the factory. GameplayPlayers are able to customize their weapons, such as adding a telescopic sight to a M1 Garand rifle and a drum magazine for a Thompson submachine gun, although these upgrades are only available on certain levels. At the start of each of the operations, players parachute onto a battlefield (with the exception of a glider insertion at the start of the Invasion of Normandy) and can roughly designate where they land. Players who land at certain points in a level will be able to pick up weapon upgrades and ammunition. Missions can be played out in different ways depending on where the player lands and which weapons he or she obtains. MultiplayerMultiplayer has been included in the game in the form of a 2-4 player split-screen mode with both the Wii and PS2 versions. (The PS2 version requires a multitap to support more than two players.) This is currently the last Medal of Honor game to feature split screen mode. There are five modes: Reception
Medal of Honor Vanguard Q&AWe talk with EALA senior producer Matt Sentell about the recently announced Medal of Honor game. By Gamespot Staff on December 19, 2006 at 5:59PM PST Medal of Honor Vanguard is the newest entry in EA’s Medal of Honor series. The recently announced game is in development for the PlayStation 2 and Wii platforms at EA’s Los Angeles studios. We checked in with senior producer Matt Sentell on the upcoming game to get a sense of what to expect from the new first-person shooter. GameSpot: Give us the basic premise for the game. Who are you and what are you doing? Matt Sentell: You play as Frank Keegan, Corporal of the 82nd Airborne Division, who drops behind enemy lines in some of the biggest battles of WWII. Keegan begins the game as a corporal, but rises in rank as he distinguishes himself in the field and gains new responsibilities.
GS: There are an awful lot of World War II games out there. How will Vanguard distinguish itself from the pack? MS: Some of the new features we’re bringing to Medal of Honor Vanguard include upgradeable weapons and extensive combat dialogue that dynamically responds to what’s happening on the battlefield. And in addition to the big, cinematic moments that the series is known for, we’ve made improvements to our artificial intelligence and graphics systems that allow us to deliver the most believable WWII experience yet in the series. GS: How are you taking advantage of the Wii controls? How will you balance out the PS2 version with that design in mind? MS: The Wii Remote’s pointer control gives the player an unprecedented amount of control over aiming and firing, while the Nunchuk’s analog stick and two buttons make it ideal for controlling player movement. Most game controls have a gesture associated with them, and we have worked very hard to make sure the gestures are intuitive, easy to learn, and most of all, fun to do. Jumping, crouching, aiming, reloading, and even turning around 180 degrees are all things you can do with the simplest of gestures. These functions are also bound to buttons, so players can choose between gestures and button presses in exploring their own play style.
GS: Will there be any technical differences between the two versions? Different graphical effects or anything? MS: Outside of the controls, the two versions follow the same storyline and are mostly identical, but since they are available on different systems you can expect to see some distinction in resolution. GS: What kinds of online features will be included on either platform? MS: Medal of Honor Vanguard will feature split-screen multiplayer for both platforms, for two to four players in games of deathmatch, capture the flag, and king of the hill, as well as a new multiplayer mode called scavenger hunt, where opponents race to capture supply drops that land throughout the battlefield. We will be revealing more details about the multiplayer component to this game as we get closer to the March 2007 ship date. GS: Can we expect to see our Mii running around in the Wii version? Seriously, though, will you be doing anything with the Wii’s unique features aside from the controls? MS: There will be no Miis running around WWII Europe this time. We’ve focused all of our efforts on maximizing the impact of the Wii’s greatest innovation, which is its unique controllers, and giving Medal of Honor fans a truly new way to interact with the game. In Medal of Honor: Vanguard there are no health packs anymore, you simply take cover and wait for your health to regenerate. There is now the added ability of running by pressing the L2 button, which can be handy to get to a good place for cover quickly. Also you can find upgrades for your weapon in several places around the map. The graphics of this game are not much of an improvement over previous instalments. Houses seem empty without any details. The levels are quite easy, except for the last one which can be a pain in the butt. The multi-player mode has only 6 maps and they are really small. There is the usual death match and a few variations on capture the flag. I rate Medal of Honor: Vanguard with a score of 7 out of 10. … Expand «Get down, Keegan!». you hear these words a lot. or at least I did. It was my first time playing a Honestly, I don’t really have much of a problem with this game.
