Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) drivers and Support for Disk Drives Beyond 2.2 TeraBytes (TB)
Besides the CPU, many computer systems utilize special Intel chipsets that handle the I/O from the disk drives. Depending on your system hardware, Windows operating systems may be using Intel device Rapid Storage Technology (RST) drivers which are common. Alternative Microsoft Windows drivers are also commonly used.
Like other kinds of software, the Intel RST drivers are updated to keep pace with new technology. The Intel drivers found in retail releases of Windows 7 have a 2.2TB limitation. Rather than cut off the capacity at 2.2TB, the limitation expresses itself as the remainder above 2.2TB. In other words, the driver causes the Windows operating to see a 3TB drive as 746.52 GiB (or 800GB).
If this is the case, then updating the driver should allow Windows to detect the drive as 3TB.
For disk drives beyond 2.2TB, the proper level of Intel RST driver should be v10.1 or higher. If your system uses an earlier version you can update the driver by following the update instruction on the Intel RST support website. The Intel support website has tools that automatically check Intel device drivers.
You can check manually to see which disk drivers your system uses.
Seagate DiscWizard Setup has a check for the presence and use of the Intel drivers. If the driver version is less than v10.1 and the system detects a disk driver larger than 2.2TB then the setup will halt with this message: Please download the latest version of Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver before installing Seagate DiscWizard.
It is possible for the Intel driver to hide the 3TB drive so completely from Windows that DiscWizard does not realize the system has a drive larger than 2.2TB. In this situation you may see a message like this:

Windows 10 — Intel Rapid Storage Management
Если на вашей материнской плате стоит чип Intel, поддерживающий технологию Intel RST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology), то вы можете собрать RAID массив из жёстких дисков SATA или PCIe и обеспечить отказоустойчивость данных. Если из строй выйдет один диск, то вы продолжаете работать.
Поддерживаются следующие уровни RAID:
Поддерживается до 6 дисков.
Поскольку RAID всё-таки программный, то в операционной системе должен быть установлен драйвер для поддержки Intel RST. В Windows 10 такой драйвер есть, однако, без дополнительного ПО не получится управлять массивом и видеть его состояние. Пользователь должен знать, что один из дисков его массива вышел из строя, иначе вся эта технология защиты превращается в тыкву.

Установка Intel Rapid Storage Manager
Раньше я пользовался каким-то менеджером Intel RST, он даже умел сканировать RAID по расписанию и высылать результаты сканирования на почту. Но в более поздних версиях от этой функции отказались. И зря. Я бы пользовался старой версией, но с какого-то из обновлений Windows система начала сильно тормозить, проблема была найдена именно в несовместимом с операционной система драйвером Intel RST, пришлось ПО снести и искать новое. Последняя на данный момент версия ПО называется Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management. Версия ПО 18.0.1017.0. Версия драйвера 18.30.1.1138. Она с Windows 10 стала работать гораздо лучше, хотя и без дополнительных и привычных мне возможностей отправки уведомлений на почту.
Принимаю лицензионной соглашение.
Предупреждают, что драйвер будет обновлён «сильно», при деинсталляции ПО не удаляется. Далее.
Спрашивают, установить ли вместе с драйвером ПО? Да, ради этого я это ПО и искал. Далее.
После установки требуется перезагрузка. Перезагрузить.
Компьютер перезагружается. И загружается, что очень радует, значит, RAID не рассыпался.
Да-да, теперь ПО устанавливается через магазин Microsoft Store. Иконка в Пуск выглядит так.

Запускаю Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management.
При первом запуске снова просят принять лицензионной соглашение. Это и понятно, само ПО можно установить прямо из магазина Microsoft Store. Однако, Intel рекомендует брать ПО всё-таки с официальных источников производителя. К тому же, установку драйвера никто не отменял. Далее.
Попадаю в раздел Управление. О чудо! На этой странице я сразу вижу свой RAID 1 массив из двух SATA дисков. И статус «Система хранения работает нормально». Для проверки статуса этой информации уже достаточно.
При клике на SATA_Array_0000 показывается дополнительная информация:
При клике на массив (том) RAID1 отображается информация о массиве:
Попробую проверить том. Проверить.
Начинается проверка массива и исправление ошибок.
При клике на диск отображаются данные диска.
Посмотрю другие разделы.
В разделе Создать том RAID можно создать новый массив, если есть из чего. Поддерживаются SATA и PCIe контроллеры и RAID 0, 1, 5, 10.
В разделе Память Intel Optane можно рулить памятью с технологией Optane, но у меня такая память не используется.
Раздел Производительность. У меня здесь только один переключатель, который отключает питание неиспользуемых устройств SATA.
Настройки. Здесь можно изменить настройки уведомлений, кнопка открывает окно центра уведомлений Windows, и отключить окно «Новый возможности». Не знаю что это за окно, не видел пока.
О программе. Информационное окно.
Вот, собственно, и весь функционал менеджера RST. Функций убавилось, но самое основное имеется.

Данная функция позволяет увеличить производительность работы SSD диска на 15 процентов благодаря оптимизации его питания в многозадачном режиме.
Intel Smart Response Technology
Позволяет автоматически сохранять часто используемый программы и файлы на SSD диске для их более быстрого открытия. Превращает SSD в своеобразный кэш часто используемых данных, благодаря чему производительность системы на обычных HDD в паре с SSD сильно возрастает.
Intel Rapid Recover
Функция восстановления. Позволяет создавать точку восстановления системы, благодаря которой можно быстро восстановить работу в случае выходи из строя системного диска.

Intel Rapid Storage Technology (AHCI)
Описание
Во многих материнских картах предусмотрены контроллеры SATA, отвечающие за работу RAID-массивов и технологию AHCI. Последняя представляет специальный механизм, необходимый для подключения различных видов накопителей, включая HDD и SSD. Чаще всего поддержка AHCI реализуется на южном мосте материнской платы.
Основное предназначение Intel Rapid Storage Technology (технология хранения данных Rapid) – организовать стабильную работу нескольких RAID-массивов из 2-х или более HDD-дисков. Поддерживаются 0-ой, 1-ый, 5-ый и 10-ый уровни RAID. Также представленный драйвер обеспечивает поддержку AHCI и SSD-кэширования для новых чипсетов Intel. Плюс, разработчики в каждом обновлении драйвера добавляют новые функции, как отключение диска без перезагрузки или увеличение скорости SSD.
Скачайте драйвер из раздела «Файлы» и запустите установщик. При запуске произойдет проверка системы. Если у Вас действительно стоит материнская плата с чипсетом от Intel, то установка продолжится. Вам лишь нужно следовать всем дальнейшим инструкциям.
Поддерживаются материнские платы для домашних компьютеров со следующими чипсетами :
Intel 3-ей, 4-ой, 5-ой, 6-ой и 7-ой серии, семейство Intel 965 Express Chipset Family, серия Intel 975x Express Chipset, серия Intel 955x Express Chipset и семейство Intel 945 Express Chipset Family.
Также поддерживаются следующие серии мобильных материнских карт :

Вновь не приводится информация об изменениях в новой версии Intel Rapid Storage Technology 11.5.0.1207. Однако мы знаем, что именно драйвер 11.5 должен был впервые получить поддержку оптимизации SSD-накопителей командой TRIM в массивах RAID. Ждем отзывов владельцев RAID-массивов на SSD для подтверждения этой информации. Кроме того, новое поколение драйверов (причем работы над версией 11.5 идут уже давно) потенциально способно улучшить скоростные характеристики накопителей, что в большей или меньшей степени может коснуться и SSD, и обычных HDD.
Имя файла с дистрибутивом Intel RST 11.5 и содержимое INF-файла подсказывают, что появилась официальная поддержка Windows 8 (хотя сопроводительная документация это упомянуть забывает). Также инсталлятор более не поддерживает Windows XP. Хотя сам драйвер Windows XP, похоже, поддерживает — ручная установка (через «драйвер дискеты F6») должна сработать.
Более не поддерживаются южные мосты ICH7 (от поддержки ICH8 почему-то отказались раньше). Теперь Intel RST 11.5 поддерживает все варианты (десктопные, мобильные, серверные) контроллеров SATA (AHCI/RAID) в южных мостах Intel ICH9/ICH10 и чипсетах Intel от серии 5x до новейшей 7x.

Обновление до Windows 10 версии 1903 на устройствах с определенными версиями драйверов технологии хранения Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST)
Проблемы
Если вы пытаетесь установить обновление компонентов Windows 10 за май 2019 года (Windows 10 версии 1903), может активироваться механизм блокировки установки обновлений на устройствах с несовместимыми версиями программного обеспечения и отобразиться сообщение: «Intel Rapid Storage Technology (Intel RST): встроенный драйвер хранилища iastora.sys не работает на этих системах, что может приводить к проблемам со стабильностью в Windows. Получите у своего поставщика ПО/драйверов обновленную версию драйвера, которая поддерживается в текущей версии Windows».
Причина
Корпорации Intel и Майкрософт обнаружили проблемы с совместимостью некоторых версий драйверов технологии хранения Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) и обновления Windows 10 за май 2019 г. Если на вашем устройстве установлен драйвер Intel® RST версии от 15.1.0.1002 до 15.5.2.1053, на нем не удастся установить обновление Windows 10 за май 2019 г.
Версия 15.5.2.1054 и более поздние совместимы, и на устройстве с этими драйверами можно установить обновление Windows 10 за май 2019 г. Для затронутых проблемой устройств рекомендуемой версией драйвера является версия 15.9.8.1050.
Дальнейшие действия
Эта проблема была решена в обновлении KB4512941. Защитные меры будут отменены в начале сентября.
Чтобы устранить эту проблему до отмены действия механизма блокировки, драйверы Intel RST на вашем устройстве необходимо будет обновить до версии 15.5.2.1054 или более поздней. Обратитесь к изготовителю вашего оборудования, чтобы узнать, доступен ли обновленный драйвер, и установите его. Также последние версии драйверов Intel RST можно скачать непосредственно на веб-сайте компании Intel в разделе Интерфейс пользователя и драйвер технологии хранения Intel® Rapid (Intel® RST). После обновления драйверов перезапустите процесс установки Windows 10 версии 1903. Обратите внимание, что возможность выполнить обновление до Windows 10 версии 1903 может стать доступна в течение 48 часов.
