Scanprofile

Scanprofile (scanprofile.io) —

Click here for help. scanprofile io. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-scanprofile io. картинка Click here for help. картинка scanprofile io. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

Click here for help. marketplacerf ru otzyvy. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-marketplacerf ru otzyvy. картинка Click here for help. картинка marketplacerf ru otzyvy. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

Click here for help. scanprofile io otzyvy. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-scanprofile io otzyvy. картинка Click here for help. картинка scanprofile io otzyvy. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

Click here for help. scanprofile otzyvy. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-scanprofile otzyvy. картинка Click here for help. картинка scanprofile otzyvy. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

Click here for help. scanprofile. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-scanprofile. картинка Click here for help. картинка scanprofile. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

Basic Information

Real Name

The RealName field refers to the Character’s current legal name. Do not put any aliases here. Leave this field empty if it is unknown. Use the ‘RealName2’ or ‘RealNameRef’ field for the reference where the character’s real name was first revealed. (It may be the same issue they first appeared).

Current Alias

The CurrentAlias field refers to the Character’s most recently used alias. Leave the field empty if it is the same as RealName. Only one Alias can occupy this field at a time. Leave this field empty if no name other than the character’s real name is known. Use the ‘CurrentAliasRef’ field for the reference where the character’s CurrentAlias was first revealed. (It may be the same issue they first appeared).

Aliases

The Aliases field refers to any other names or codenames used by the character. Try to put a Reference Tag next to each alias that points to the comic where the character was called that name. If no other names are used by the character, leave the field empty.

The Identity field has two options: Public or Secret. Public Identity means the general populace knows the subject by both their Real/OfficialName and their Current Alias. Leave this field blank if you are unsure which the subject falls under.

The AlienRace field refers to the race of extraterrestrial beings this character belongs to. Do not use this field for terrestrial races such as Asian or Latino. Examples that would work in this field include Skrull, Kree, and Shi’ar. See Category:Races for all known races on the Database.

At Microsoft, we have focused a lot of thought and research around how to best operate and maintain our global infrastructure and we want to share those learnings. While obviously there are some aspects that we keep to ourselves, we have shared how we operate facilities daily, our technologies and methodologies, and, most importantly, how we monitor and manage our facilities. Whether it’s speaking at industry events, inviting customers to our “Microsoft data center conferences” held in our data centers, or through other media like blogging and white papers, we believe sharing best practices is paramount and will drive the industry forward. So in that vein, we have some interesting news to share.

Today we are sharing our Generation 4 Modular Data Center plan. This is our vision and will be the foundation of our cloud data center infrastructure in the next five years. We believe it is one of the most revolutionary changes to happen to data centers in the last 30 years. Joining me, in writing this blog are Daniel Costello, my director of Data Center Research and Engineering and Christian Belady, principal power and cooling architect. I feel their voices will add significant value to driving understanding around the many benefits included in this new design paradigm.

Our “Gen 4” modular data centers will take the flexibility of containerized servers—like those in our Chicago data center—and apply it across the entire facility. So what do we mean by modular? Think of it like “building blocks”, where the data center will be composed of modular units of prefabricated mechanical, electrical, security components, etc., in addition to containerized servers.

Was there a key driver for the Generation 4 Data Center?

If we were to summarize the promise of our Gen 4 design into a single sentence it would be something like this: “A highly modular, scalable, efficient, just-in-time data center capacity program that can be delivered anywhere in the world very quickly and cheaply, while allowing for continued growth as required.” Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? Well, keep in mind that these concepts have been in initial development and prototyping for over a year and are based on cumulative knowledge of previous facility generations and the advances we have made since we began our investments in earnest on this new design.

One of the biggest challenges we’ve had at Microsoft is something Mike likes to call the ‘Goldilock’s Problem’. In a nutshell, the problem can be stated as:

The worst thing we can do in delivering facilities for the business is not have enough capacity online, thus limiting the growth of our products and services.

The second worst thing we can do in delivering facilities for the business is to have too much capacity online.

This has led to a focus on smart, intelligent growth for the business — refining our overall demand picture. It can’t be too hot. It can’t be too cold. It has to be ‘Just Right!’ The capital dollars of investment are too large to make without long term planning. As we struggled to master these interesting challenges, we had to ensure that our technological plan also included solutions for the business and operational challenges we faced as well.
So let’s take a high level look at our Generation 4 design

It’s a concept video that came out of my Data Center Research and Engineering team, under Daniel Costello, that will give you a view into what we think is the future.

From a configuration, construct-ability and time to market perspective, our primary goals and objectives are to modularize the whole data center. Not just the server side (like the Chicago facility), but the mechanical and electrical space as well. This means using the same kind of parts in pre-manufactured modules, the ability to use containers, skids, or rack-based deployments and the ability to tailor the Redundancy and Reliability requirements to the application at a very specific level.

Our goals from a cost perspective were simple in concept but tough to deliver. First and foremost, we had to reduce the capital cost per critical Mega Watt by the class of use. Some applications can run with N-level redundancy in the infrastructure, others require a little more infrastructure for support. These different classes of infrastructure requirements meant that optimizing for all cost classes was paramount. At Microsoft, we are not a one trick pony and have many Online products and services (240+) that require different levels of operational support. We understand that and ensured that we addressed it in our design which will allow us to reduce capital costs by 20%-40% or greater depending upon class.

For example, non-critical or geo redundant applications have low hardware reliability requirements on a location basis. As a result, Gen 4 can be configured to provide stripped down, low-cost infrastructure with little or no redundancy and/or temperature control. Let’s say an Online service team decides that due to the dramatically lower cost, they will simply use uncontrolled outside air with temperatures ranging 10-35 C and 20-80% RH. The reality is we are already spec-ing this for all of our servers today and working with server vendors to broaden that range even further as Gen 4 becomes a reality. For this class of infrastructure, we eliminate generators, chillers, UPSs, and possibly lower costs relative to traditional infrastructure.

Applications that demand higher level of redundancy or temperature control will use configurations of Gen 4 to meet those needs, however, they will also cost more (but still less than traditional data centers). We see this cost difference driving engineering behavioral change in that we predict more applications will drive towards Geo redundancy to lower costs.

Another cool thing about Gen 4 is that it allows us to deploy capacity when our demand dictates it. Once finalized, we will no longer need to make large upfront investments. Imagine driving capital costs more closely in-line with actual demand, thus greatly reducing time-to-market and adding the capacity Online inherent in the design. Also reduced is the amount of construction labor required to put these “building blocks” together. Since the entire platform requires pre-manufacture of its core components, on-site construction costs are lowered. This allows us to maximize our return on invested capital.

In our design process, we questioned everything. You may notice there is no roof and some might be uncomfortable with this. We explored the need of one and throughout our research we got some surprising (positive) results that showed one wasn’t needed.

In short, we are striving to bring Henry Ford’s Model T factory to the data center. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Ford#Model_T. Gen 4 will move data centers from a custom design and build model to a commoditized manufacturing approach. We intend to have our components built in factories and then assemble them in one location (the data center site) very quickly. Think about how a computer, car or plane is built today. Components are manufactured by different companies all over the world to a predefined spec and then integrated in one location based on demands and feature requirements. And just like Henry Ford’s assembly line drove the cost of building and the time-to-market down dramatically for the automobile industry, we expect Gen 4 to do the same for data centers. Everything will be pre-manufactured and assembled on the pad.

And did we mention that this platform will be, overall, incredibly energy efficient? From a total energy perspective not only will we have remarkable PUE values, but the total cost of energy going into the facility will be greatly reduced as well. How much energy goes into making concrete? Will we need as much of it? How much energy goes into the fuel of the construction vehicles? This will also be greatly reduced! A key driver is our goal to achieve an average PUE at or below 1.125 by 2012 across our data centers. More than that, we are on a mission to reduce the overall amount of copper and water used in these facilities. We believe these will be the next areas of industry attention when and if the energy problem is solved. So we are asking today…“how can we build a data center with less building”?

We have talked openly and publicly about building chiller-less data centers and running our facilities using aggressive outside economization. Our sincerest hope is that Gen 4 will completely eliminate the use of water. Today’s data centers use massive amounts of water and we see water as the next scarce resource and have decided to take a proactive stance on making water conservation part of our plan.

By sharing this with the industry, we believe everyone can benefit from our methodology. While this concept and approach may be intimidating (or downright frightening) to some in the industry, disclosure ultimately is better for all of us.

Gen 4 design (even more than just containers), could reduce the ‘religious’ debates in our industry. With the central spine infrastructure in place, containers or pre-manufactured server halls can be either AC or DC, air-side economized or water-side economized, or not economized at all (though the sanity of that might be questioned). Gen 4 will allow us to decommission, repair and upgrade quickly because everything is modular. No longer will we be governed by the initial decisions made when constructing the facility. We will have almost unlimited use and re-use of the facility and site. We will also be able to use power in an ultra-fluid fashion moving load from critical to non-critical as use and capacity requirements dictate.

Finally, we believe this is a big game changer. Gen 4 will provide a standard platform that our industry can innovate around. For example, all modules in our Gen 4 will have common interfaces clearly defined by our specs and any vendor that meets these specifications will be able to plug into our infrastructure. Whether you are a computer vendor, UPS vendor, generator vendor, etc., you will be able to plug and play into our infrastructure. This means we can also source anyone, anywhere on the globe to minimize costs and maximize performance. We want to help motivate the industry to further innovate—with innovations from which everyone can reap the benefits.

Generations of Evolution – some background on our data center designs

We thought you might be interested in understanding what happened in the first three generations of our data center designs. When Ray Ozzie wrote his Software plus Services memo it posed a very interesting challenge to us. The winds of change were at ‘tornado’ proportions. That “plus Services” tag had some significant (and unstated) challenges inherent to it. The first was that Microsoft was going to evolve even further into an operations company. While we had been running large scale Internet services since 1995, this development lead us to an entirely new level. Additionally, these “services” would span across both Internet and Enterprise businesses. To those of you who have to operate “stuff”, you know that these are two very different worlds in operational models and challenges. It also meant that, to achieve the same level of reliability and performance required our infrastructure was going to have to scale globally and in a significant way.

It was that intense atmosphere of change that we first started re-evaluating data center technology and processes in general and our ideas began to reach farther than what was accepted by the industry at large. This was the era of Generation 1. As we look at where most of the world’s data centers are today (and where our facilities were), it represented all the known learning and design requirements that had been in place since IBM built the first purpose-built computer room. These facilities focused more around uptime, reliability and redundancy. Big infrastructure was held accountable to solve all potential environmental shortfalls. This is where the majority of infrastructure in the industry still is today.

We soon realized that traditional data centers were quickly becoming outdated. They were not keeping up with the demands of what was happening technologically and environmentally. That’s when we kicked off our Generation 2 design. Gen 2 facilities started taking into account sustainability, energy efficiency, and really looking at the total cost of energy and operations.

No longer did we view data centers just for the upfront capital costs, but we took a hard look at the facility over the course of its life. Our Quincy, Washington and San Antonio, Texas facilities are examples of our Gen 2 data centers where we explored and implemented new ways to lessen the impact on the environment. These facilities are considered two leading industry examples, based on their energy efficiency and ability to run and operate at new levels of scale and performance by leveraging clean hydro power (Quincy) and recycled waste water (San Antonio) to cool the facility during peak cooling months.

As we were delivering our Gen 2 facilities into steel and concrete, our Generation 3 facilities were rapidly driving the evolution of the program. The key concepts for our Gen 3 design are increased modularity and greater concentration around energy efficiency and scale. The Gen 3 facility will be best represented by the Chicago, Illinois facility currently under construction. This facility will seem very foreign compared to the traditional data center concepts most of the industry is comfortable with. In fact, if you ever sit around in our container hanger in Chicago it will look incredibly different from a traditional raised-floor data center. We anticipate this modularization will drive huge efficiencies in terms of cost and operations for our business. We will also introduce significant changes in the environmental systems used to run our facilities. These concepts and processes (where applicable) will help us gain even greater efficiencies in our existing footprint, allowing us to further maximize infrastructure investments.

This is definitely a journey, not a destination industry. In fact, our Generation 4 design has been under heavy engineering for viability and cost for over a year. While the demand of our commercial growth required us to make investments as we grew, we treated each step in the learning as a process for further innovation in data centers. The design for our future Gen 4 facilities enabled us to make visionary advances that addressed the challenges of building, running, and operating facilities all in one concerted effort.

«Click here if you are not redirected automatically»

After the users have filled in a form, they hit submit. There are a lot of things happening behind the scenes the users won’t see, so we send them to a page that says:

Click here if you are not redirected automatically.

Next to the phrase above there is a button with the label «Back to the form».

I was wondering if there is a way to better phrase the information, and to reframe the action we invite the users to make.

Any better examples? Any advice?

Create page that shows some message with two buttons: “Back to the form” and “Continue” The second button performs the manual redirection.

It is also possible to hide the message for some time using CSS animations. Such approach works even with disabled JavaScript.

I would remove «back to form» and also try to solve the need for this type of page altogether by sorting out the issue with the development team. Either way, why would you want the user to go back to a form they just filled?

I would suggest the user to go back to the form. Instead I would label CTA for Back to Home (if it’s an e-commerce website).

You should have a primary CTA, which I believe in your case is the «click to redirect». The «back to form» seems like a secondary option.

Having the first a link and the second a button is counter intuitive, looks like you’re inviting the user, in the default general case, to go back to the form instead of going forward. Buttons are generally more prominent than links.

That said, the design suggested by @jiwopene is a step in the right direction.

Hozier is making Cherry Wine a clarion call to highlight the issue of domestic violence.

Hozier, Columbia Records, Island Records and Sony/ATV Music Publishing will donate their respective proceeds from downloads of this special single, released on 12th February, to a series of international domestic abuse charity organisations which provide support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse, while also engaging in advocacy and community outreach.

Cherry Wine was written by Hozier from the male perspective of an abuse sufferer. The song’s lyrics offer a unique insight into an abusive relationship, shining a light on the cycle of ‘justification’ often perpetuated in domestic violence incidents; that public health experts say controls the abused, shames the victim, and shifts responsibility for the abuser’s violent behavior.

Speaking of his decision to lead this charity campaign Hozier said, “Domestic violence is an ongoing issue in our society, the statistics of which are shocking and the effects of which damage whole families, communities and span generations.

With the song Cherry Wine, I tried to get across the difficulty of coming to terms with and facing up to domestic violence and the dynamic of an abusive relationship. I’m honoured to be joined by Saoirse Ronan, video director Dearbhla Walsh and Moe Dunford in spreading awareness on this issue.”

Saoirse Ronan added, “I am equally honoured to join Hozier to create awareness for the #FaceUpToDomesticViolence campaign with the release of “Cherry Wine” as a charity single. The song has always been one of my favourite tracks on his album. I hope through the video and song we can shine light on the issue and complexity of domestic abuse and in doing so help those caught up in the cycle of domestic violence”.

Does Telling Someone to “Click Here” Work?

I’ve always been a big proponent of having actionable anchor text for links when I really want someone to click. From a copywriting standpoint, it’s a no brainer—it’s been proven time and time again that if you want someone to do something, you’ll get better results if you tell them exactly what to do.

So, it catches me off guard when people question something so fundamental. I’ve had people email me to settle disputes over the issue, such as the time a reader told me about an argument he was having with his boss. The employee thought it was archaic to tell people to “click here,” and his boss thought otherwise.

I politely replied that for once the boss was right. I never heard back.

Another reader once chastised me for wasting anchor text with the words “click here,” even though my primary goal for the link was to get people to click (shocking, I know). This is when I first realized that Google is truly making people lose their minds. Somehow, this person no longer saw links as navigation for actual people to use; they only exist to pass on “juice” according to an algorithm that no one outside of Mountain View fully understands.

Someone has the wrong idea.

It’s been a bit since I’ve seen any independent testing data on the use of actionable link anchor text (outside of my own), so I thought I’d share the results of a Marketing Sherpa experiment performed with their newsletter readers. The goal was to find out if the wording used in hyperlinks could make a difference in click through rates.

The answer is yes. They found that the right two or three “click” link words can lift click through rates by more than 8%.

Here are the results:

Since there’s no relevant difference between an HTML email message and a web page, the lesson is clear. Not only should you use actionable anchor text if you really want someone to click, but you should also tell people to take the exact action you want them to perform in order to get the best response. Click here to read the original Marketing Sherpa article in its entirety, and have a good Monday. 🙂

And before anyone else says it… I’ve already emailed Chris Pearson and told him he’s making us look bad with the “Continue Reading” anchor text he uses for this blog theme. 🙂

Amazing how such a short article can bring so many trackbacks and comments 🙂

Changing it now (on the old sturdy Cutline) 😉

Always wondered about this, thanks for the pointer B.

What about screen reader visitors – if all the links are ‘click here’ instead of something descriptive, are they not punished with a lot of ‘click here’, click here, click here and no sense of why/what’s beyond the link?

And yes, the juice aspect is one drilled into us by SEO experts. Are they wrong? Where’s the balance?

Not a real link:
“Click here for to learn more about our copyblogging services”

– can work, but now I want to get rid of the underline, too much of eye-sore. CSS can do that, but now, are we in trouble for breaking standard metaphor?

Use title tags for screen readers. If you’re offering a free ebook and your anchor text reads, “Click here,” your title atrribute should be the ebook’s title, for example. I tend to set my anchor text as, “Click here to download my free ebook, ‘How to Combine SEO and Usability,’” and then either use the same text for the title attribute or just the name of the ebook.

Thanks for writing this, Brian. Now I’ll have something to point to when the boss tells me that we should ALWAYS use keyword-rich anchor text, instead of “click here,” no matter what the situation.

Often, “click here” is the best anchor text to use, especially when you’re trying to make a sale!

the ‘click here to continue’ type of tags are drastically different than context aware links.

When a user is reading an article and gets to the end but wants more, they need to be told where to get it and how, I think this falls into Test Results you describe.

However; I fully believe that ‘click here’ links within an article do nothing but subtract from the value of the content. They add unecissary breaks/pauses. Our browsers (or readers…) are already smart enough to know the difference between text and a link and the users already know what to do with a link. If you mention something noteworthy and that particular text is the link out I think it is much more effective (forget the indexing algorithms) than using text such as ‘click here for more information’.

I certainly see your point (and agree) for certain situations in which the user is looking for direction. I think the argument you are presenting is slightly miss leading given that it only applies for the one type of link.

I would be more interested in a similar study on links within the actual articles themselves.

I agree completely. I see nothing wrong with helping people do what you want them to do.

I once put a link on my site with the anchor text, “DO NOT CLICK THIS!”. (And trust me, a LOT of people clicked it.) It lead to a sassy little “I told you not to click that” page. I moved the link around and monitored the click-throughs to see where people noticed it the most. Helped me determine where to place links I wanted people to click.

What would have been wrong with linking ‘Click here to read the original Marketing Sherpa article in its entirety’ – why did you have to stop at just ‘Click here’.

I am not against using those phrases, and I respect your opinion, as sometimes they make more sense and will eliminate redundancy, but just using ‘Click here’ all over the place seems tacky to me. It gets to a point where they turn into the animated GIF/flash ads all over the place trying to grab your attention at every turn – I eventually just turn those things off and avoid them.

I’m sure studies could be done all over the place to prove me wrong, but I would rather stick to a more descriptive link than litter a page with ‘Click heres’

Hi,
I wrote a blog post about the use of “click here” on travel websites….. last week…

I guess any blogger who is trying to “stem the click here tide” is a click hero?

Why don’t you just use buttons, if you’re looking for a call-to-action that isn’t already referenced in your text? You seem to be breaking the very fundamental nature of hyperlinks so that you can meet a slimy advertising need – to trick the user’s eye into looking at certain pieces of your content at the cost of consistent, usable design.

I’m certainly not saying that putting attention on the pieces of your site that bring revenue is wrong. I’m saying that crapping on convention and misusing the tools in your belt is wrong.

And at that, should buttons be labeled “Click here”? Should body copy be labeled “Read here”? Should headers be labeled “Ignore here”?

And another thing … text like “Continue to article” isn’t the same as just “Click here”. There is actual meaning to the former, whereas the latter is 100% redundant, semantically, with the fact that it is a link.

I love the line “Google is making people stupid”. Brilliant, and true. So many webmasters/bloggers are more worried about SEO and phrasing and ratios and stats than they are about, oh say, CONTENT.

Very well said. Stumbled and Dugg.

I work as a technical editor for web content, and part of our editorial standards require that we insert “Click here” at the beginning of any link. Something like “Click here to access this article” or what have you.

We’re required to do it so that we follow ADA standards for blind people. It’s so people who use a voice-based browser (or however they manage it, I really have no idea) they know where the links are.

Setting aside the various and sundry reasons “click here” links are bad, I would suggest you’re missing the bigger takeaway from the test. Out of the three phrases above, “click here” may be the strongest call to action – not that any of them are very strong.

Anyway, I would suggest that if you’re relying on “click here”, for links, you’re still failing. You need a stronger call to action.

Also, “click to continue” isn’t exactly the same thing as “click here”. The former is telling what the results of the action will be, the latter simply requests the action. Key difference.

Now, for the problems with “click here” links:
1) They’re bad for accessibility
2) They’re don’t accomodate for how users scan pages looking for actions within links (eyetracking studies bear this out)
3) They’re insulting to the user’s intelligence.

Nate, nothing in this post is my opinion. And no one said to use “click here” all over the place. You only use it when you really want someone to click. Most editorial links are not like that, so you would use descriptive anchor text in the vast majority of situations.

Baxter, on the other hand, is giving us nothing but opinion. You’re making a huge set of assumptions, Baxter, with no data to back them up. Your opinion versus testing is a lopsided battle that you lose.

And of course “click here” and “click to continue” are different, because the context is different. But the operative word is “click.”

If you really want someone to click, tell them to click. Period.

Great reminder of the value of testing.

My own tendency has been to avoid saying “click here” for aesthetic reasons (mainly for the aesthetic reasons that Nate and Baxter refer to). It’s nice to get a kick in the ego every now & then and remember that testing rules & opinion drools 🙂

As far as the “insulting to intelligence” argument, remember that while your results may vary, Sherpa’s readers are generally very web-savvy marketing professionals. If “click here” were going to be insulting to a group of people, wouldn’t they be one of the most likely groups to be insulted? And yet, look at the results…

However; I fully believe that ‘click here’ links within an article do nothing but subtract from the value of the content. They add unecissary breaks/pauses.

Randy, you only use it as a call to action when you really want someone to click. Let’s face it, as much as bloggers love to link, most of the time they don’t really care if you actually do click away, right? In fact, they probably hope you won’t. 🙂

But think about a situation where you want someone to continue reading, or you want to drive them to a landing page or affiliate merchant. Those are the situations where you need to use “click here” to get the highest response.

Creating actionable links is effective when understanding the context. MarketingSherpa used a single teaser intro and then leaving the reader hanging with “Click to continue”.

It’s just like “Please turn page” at the bottom of all those successful sales letters.
Some things just work.

I disagree with the sentiment of the post and agree entirely with Lee.

I also expect that test results you cite are testing for a very specific outcome, though it may not be the primary goal for all websites everywhere. Indeed, coherent design, accessibility and many other factors must be taken into account — click-throughs are not the final word in copy writing.

I agree that click here is effective. People might not like it, as they might think Billy Mayes tacky, but both are effective at initiating action.

I’m more in favor of “ClickMe,” a 1-word link telling what to do and what to do it to…not to mention personification added for flavoring.

click-throughs are not the final word in copywriting

They are when that’s the goal of your copy in a particular context. I thought I wrote a very narrow article related to a very narrow scenario, but many seem to be extrapolating beyond what I actually said.

It’s funny how emotionally invested people are in their beliefs about how things *should* be. Most successful people are only interested in what works, and I suppose I was writing this article for them. 🙂

Not only should you use actionable anchor text if you really want someone to click, but you should also tell people to take the exact action you want them to perform in order to get the best response.

Wise words indeed, Brian!

Chris, I’m going to let you get away with that just this once. 🙂

Perfect timing on this article, Brian…

In preparation for my blog’s (re)launch, I’d been going through and scrubbing out “redundant text” like “click here” or “click me to continue.” It just seemed unnecessary for an experienced web user.

It seems I’ve now learned my lesson :-). Going to go back through and add it back to important locations (and especially at the end of post excerpts on the homepage!).

OMG. I have been using “Click Here to Bid on paintings instead of all that fancy stuff, thinking,” oh, I am such a low tech idiot!”. I just thought, make it simple. Ask them do do what you want them to do….You have made me feel terrific!! Now click on my name to see what I do. 🙂 Then you can smile and Click to bid. Maybe it works after all. All best, Jan
PS. I love your site. Helps me a lot.

Using click here as the only link text means you can only have one per page (from an accessibility standpoint – screen readers often read the link text and having more than one link with click here text would be redundant and difficult to use, at least if they point to different locations).

Even from an SEO point of view it can be wise to use “click here” links every once in a while. Over-optimizing your anchor text profile isn’t something you want to do, as it might raise all kinds of flags.

I vigorously disagree with teh “Google is making people retarded” since there were stupid people long before those zany California kids misspelt googol. What Google does is enable stupid people to clickslide somewhat further along the intertubes than they otherwise would venture.

P.S. I really like the bold red text, it’s easy on the eyes.

That is so wrong.
Why don’t you use “Click here” in your navigation, and other links? After all, you want users to click them..

this is a doozy of a tip. Thanks for the specific tips and advice. Your headlines from the other day really helped me out for a recent sales letter.

I think that “Click to Read More” should have been an option in the test. I think it could have scored aggressively as well.

Furthermore, you should not have used “Click here”. You should have used “Click to read”. The issue with “Click here” isn’t Click in my mind, but instead its the word Here. Here is a useless word. It doesn’t tell you anything about the destination. Continue tells you something, Read tells you something, Here doesn’t.

Couldn’t resist, sorry.

Have you ever tested these against more specific calls to action, like ‘learn more’ or ‘click for next step’? Is the word ‘click’ the essential word?

Brian, you know (or should know) I’m a big fan of yours, and have been almost since day one. There had to come a time sooner or later when I disagreed with you on something, and today’s the day.

That said, I don’t ENTIRELY disagree, just mostly. I don’t really dispute what marketing sherpa found. I’m just disagreeing on the takeaway. What I got from reading it is that a strong call to action will work better than a passive or vague phrase. Sometimes “click here” might be that call to action, but most times one can probably do better.

I think that’s the larger message: If you want someone to do something, don’t be wishy-washy about it. “Click here” links aside, I suspect you’d agree on that point.

And I’d have to disagree with your suggestions that I’m making a huge set of assumptions based on opinion. There’s very little opinion in my post. Yes, I do have a differing opinion on the most significant message found in the marketing sherpa report, but beyond that:

Click here links ARE bad for accessibility. It’s a fact. Much smarter people than I have explained why at great length.

Click here links DON’T accomodate scanning – again, there’s A LOT of research backing this up. Users scan for links, looking for specific calls to action. So, one “click here” could be hugely effective, and a second and third would (probably) show a huge drop-off.

They’re insulting to the user’s intelligence. OK, that one’s just opinion. You got me there.

Anyway, I rarely post since I rarely have anything to add, but always enjoy. Thanks.

Can’t you just throw a “nofollow” on the link if you’re worried about anchor text?

Otherwise, I agree with Joost – you don’t want over-optimization – even for internal link anchor text.

Gamermk nailed it. It’s all about the useless reference of “here” to itself.

Just remember not to be a more on. Words matter, right Brian? 😉

It seems to me that, even with the goal of marketing rather than usability, “click” can’t be the “exact action” we want someone to take. It can’t be that because not everyone clicks. Blind users don’t click. Users with certain motor disabilities don’t click. People using phones/handhelds probably won’t be clicking either. The “exact action” is the one that defines the end-point of the link, not whatever mechanism the reader uses to activate the link. The content creator has no control over the last, after all 🙂

Heh. Yeah that’s true – I “tap”. (Wacom tablet)

As soon as Gamermk tests it, I’ll take your word for that. Otherwise, “click here” has served me well over the years, and I don’t intend to change without having a tested alternative that outperforms. 🙂

So, one “click here” could be hugely effective, and a second and third would (probably) show a huge drop-off.

Baxter, thanks for the follow-up. Just so you know, I would never use more than one “click here.” That would be silly.

I’d also like to see some of the research you mention. I doubt I would end up disagreeing with any of it in practice. As I mentioned above, I thought I kept the focus of this post narrow enough so people would understand how and when it’s appropriate, but I guess people take away the message they want, and then comment about what they want.

Look at the post itself. If my goal was to drive traffic to the Sherpa article, that’s a way to use one single “click here” link to do it. Very simple stuff.

It can’t be that because not everyone clicks.

And yet, “click” is what works. Don’t shoot the messenger. 🙂

I use both. It really depends on the content of the site and if I want them to remain on my site or pass on through to something else.

Besides, what do people learn and love to do first on a computer anyhow? Click.

I’m no professional, but it seems to me a good rule of thumb is that if it’s an internal link, use “Click here” or similar, and if it’s an external link, use something descriptive.

The reasons being, If it’s external: a) It helps google understand it (regardless as to your ideology on how links should work, the reality is it helps google better index the internet) and the owner of the external site would probably appreciate it b) Semantically, an external link serves as more of a footnote or a citation, so it makes sense to link the text (or part of it) that you are citing. c) What do you care? (unless you’re getting paid for referrals)

As for internal, the rule is more loose. Navigation list don’t need a click here after every list item, etc.

I believe if falls more in how you address items you link to.

Instead of sticking the data results link at the end, I’ve found it better to offset it with em dashes after you first reference it.

Ex. According to XYZ study — “Link to study” — blah blah blah.

It’s important to provide the link while people are still interested and not bury at the bottom of an article.

#2 from a Top 10 List of Web Design Mistakes from Jakob Neilsen:

Don’t use “click here” or other non-descriptive link text.

As a senior web consultant, I advise my clients never to use “click here” for several reasons. First, to a sophisticated web user, it looks amateurish, like you don’t know how to use hypertext. Second, it can render a blind person unable to use the web page, because blind users frequently select hyperlinks off of an audio “menu” of the link text, so they can’t figure out which one they want if their “menu” says “click here click here click here click here click here.” Third, this could lead to a lawsuit from a blind person.

I appreciate your article, but..

I don’t like the way ‘click here’ clobbers readability of most sentences – it often looks really contrived.

The most telling reason I never started using ‘click here’, though, is that usability test scripts complain about links doing different things but having the same label. Since I screen for usability and standards (infrequently), the ‘click here’ is an interesting concept, but don’t look for it in my work.

I tapped here and scrolled down to leave this comment.
A plain Click Here is no help to anyone. I think the word Click works fine but it needs to be connected with something. Click for More, Click to see…etc.

quick disclaimer: i’m a huge opponent of ‘click here’ links. baxter, if you don’t mind i would like to piggy-back on your points. secondly, i’m a designer, not a writer… if that makes a difference.

how many of you looked at the “creative” that M.S. used? frankly, it’s awful. i wouldn’t dare click on anything on the page in the first place. i can only imagine those that did click thru were the people that are actually being made stupid by google. a well designed and thoughtfully written piece would have likely seen a higher click thru rate anyway.

this test needs to really be done in a similarly controlled environment, but with quality content with a decent design; not something that looks like spam.

I’m going to have to disagree as well, especially for the sake of Accessibility. I also agree with comments about text-rich links being easier to scan.

Let’s turn to Jakob Nielsen, who I guarantee has observed many more usability tests than Copyblogger. See the Good Luck in User Performance section in Outliers and Luck in User Performance.

Sure, some of Google’s guidelines make life uncomfortable for web site owners, but this particular guideline actually improves the quality of the Web for all involved.

Random Nutbag says

People generally are a bit dumb (or clickably unadventurous)

They tend to need instruction before action a lot of the time.

Blind people shouldn’t be the reason to change accepted and time tested wording, thats reverse discrimination, get on with life as normal, people adapt and adjust, if they don’t like it they can go elsewhere.

click “here” to prove it.

I’m probably repeating a lot of what’s been said, but I have to say that simple “click here” text is quite poor. Not only is it poor for SEO, it’s simply poor for usability.

If you’re a page skimmer, links will stand out to you. If you see a link that says “click here”, then you are forced to read the context around that link to find out why you should actually click here.

Placing the context OF the link IN the link is the best way to go. While you don’t want a 30 word sentence, you want the link to contain two key elements:

1. The action
2. The context

Then you have a very powerful link, which will be received well by skimmers and spiders alike 🙂

Let’s turn to Jakob Nielsen, who I guarantee has observed many more usability tests than Copyblogger

Jakob Neilsen is not a marketer. His thoughts on usability are good when he sticks to presenting data, bad when he confuses his abstract preferences with what works in the real world.

I make a living making the right choices when it comes to this stuff (and it’s not from this blog), and Jakob makes a living pontificating. You choose who you want to listen to…. it’s all fine with me. 🙂

Jeepers Mr. Peepers, with all the problems in the world, you guys are debating “click here”?! OK, “click here”.

I hate “Click Here” links because as I scan the contents of a website I have no CLUE where the hell the link will take me.

In the final paragraph of your link you should have the anchor on the text “the original Marketing Sherpa article” and not some random link that I will never click on.

Maybe you think you are some kind of genius – but your “Click here” bullshit is a violation of accessibility standards.

“Good link text should not be overly general; don’t use “click here.” Not only is this phrase device-dependent (it implies a pointing device) it says nothing about what is to be found if the link if followed. Instead of “click here”, link text should indicate the nature of the link target, as in “more information about sea lions” or “text-only version of this page”.”

Brian’s argument makes perfect sense. One should use “Click here” wherever there is a need to click. It’s just like another action word and copywriting anyways puts so much stress on using action words.

I have always been led to believe that it’s more an accessibility issue. If you take the links out of context as someone might who is using a screen reader, then a link with “click here” has no context and thus has no meaning.

You make a compelling argument, but not one that would stand the rigures of W3C or WCAG.

Great article and something I’ve been looking for info on for a long time. To me it’s common sense to tell the person what you want them to do. It means there’s no confusion.

Baxter, thanks for the follow-up. Just so you know, I would never use more than one “click here.” That would be silly.

But that is irrelevant – What if I had many articles I wanted to link to on one page. Going my your logic I could only use “click here” once and the rest would require some other text. Pointless.

Look at the post itself. If my goal was to drive traffic to the Sherpa article, that’s a way to use one single “click here” link to do it. Very simple stuff.

Yes, but you also would like for the article to be posted to Digg, right? – so why did you opt for the link to read “Vote for it at Digg” as opposed to “Click Here to Vote for it at Digg”

Also you have not addressed the Accessibility issue of using “click here”. You may have an axe to grind against Jakob, but what of the W3C?

Great tip. Thanks a lot!

Google did not make people retarded…they already were.

What is retarded is the way Google and SEO people get hung up on these things.

A website is for the user, not the algorithms.

When dumb Johnny average websurfer can’t figure out what to do to advance to the next webpage, it’s up to the webmaster to tell him by inserting a “Click here” message.

Stop worrying about Google and SEO. Start worrying about making it easy for web visitors to find the content.

I agree with the gist of this post. I use “Click here to add to basket” and similar links, as they are a specific call to action. That doesn’t mean that every link on a page has “click here” and I don’t think that’s what’s being suggested. It only applies to specific calls to action.

I wouldn’t use just “click here” in isolation, as it doesn’t make it clear what the user will get if they click.

Some other comments on the comments:
1) Designers who remove underlines on hyperlinks are the real villains;
2) SEO “experts” who turn interesting copy into marketing garbage, just to get up the search rankings, surely don’t realise that it’s better to have fewer people reach the site if you increase the number of people actually performing the call to action;
3) Jakob Nielsen may know about usability as an academic subject, but if everyone followed his recommendations it would be a very dull web indeed;
4) I think blind people will know what to do with a “click here to…” type link, even though they don’t click!

That makes sense as long as there is only one link you really really want someone to click.

You wouldn’t want to have your main navigation links replaced by clickheres? Would you?

It does’t work in cases when people look for a certain link. Anchor text stands out and meaningful text is easy to spot. Otherwise reader is forced to read entire context (not gonna happen).

I strongly agree with everyone that’s made the points about accessibility, poor writing, and making users feel like they need their hands held. Here’s a perfect example of an accessibility nightmare that “click here” can cause which I stumbled over just five minutes after reading this post.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/travelinlibrarian/1401364983/

I think that there’s a little bias due to the point of view. Click here isn’t always right, exactly like it isn’t exactly wrong.

If you have:
. inline descriptive links (i.e. “if you remind the last article…”)
. better descriptions (i.e. “Download here”)
. better labels (i.e. “About”)

Using ‘click here’ is obviously not right.

Instead, if you have:
. just the first part of the article (i.e. “Click here to read more”)
. generic go on message (i.e. “Click here to continue”)

And similar, it’s of course good to add a little ‘click here’.

There’s hardly a general rule that guides this kind of situations. The issue has been raised a lot of time ago when in long articles that doesn’t require ‘click here’ included inline links with “(link)” or “(click here)” annotations, that were just plain annoying. So, this exaggerated practice created a rule that forbid it (exaggerating it again).

As most things in this life, rightness is in the middle. 😛

I have to disagree with this article.

Keep in mind that the MarketingSherpa report is talking about e-mail and using newsletters to drive people to a website. The author seems to assume that this extends to links within a website.

In a website, using “click here” for a link is not only bad for Google, it is also bad for Section 508 accessibility standards. Imagine using a screen reader because you are visually impaired and hearing “click here,” “click here,” “click here” for every link.

Great post! I’ve always wondered, since I always used to use “Click Here” but then heard it was bad practice. But it makes sense…some web users need a real obvious command 😉

But Kevin Wohler brings up a good point, also. I guess we have to still keep in mind what audience our site is aiming for and make the best choice based on that. Maybe instead of making the link just “click here”, it would be beneficial for the whole link to be “click here to read the rest of this article”, in other words the call to action (click here) followed by where the action will take you (read the rest of the article)

I think the point of this post was not to get over-obsessive about the anchor text even when “Click here” is heavily needed. Anchor text is very relevant and I agree with the SEO/accessibility issues of using/not using anchor text and for that the solution might be — I think somebody mentioned it in the comments — to use an image instead of text and in the ALT attribute you can put all the words you feel like putting.

Well look at it this way:

I have a website page with a link to another page. I want the end user to click through to the second page.

If I use “CLICK HERE” slightly more people will click the link the if I use:

“Article on [stuff] continues on page 2” *Slightly* less people will click through, however slightly more people will go to that page directly from the search engine as now page 2 has usable keywords so the SE’s know what page 2 is about *slightly* more then if I had just a “CLICK HERE” type link.

The very, very easy way to get the best of both worlds is to have different links with different text to the ‘next page’. Its not really rocket science.

As for the “Click to continue” winning over the rest that is because out of those 3 links this is the one that makes most sense- its not word ‘Click’ that is doing the magic here is the “Continue” in combination with another C starting word. *C*lick to *C*ontinue sounds better then the other options. “Read more” did poorly as its nonsense (read more what?), the “Continue to Article” has too many Syllables and no alliteration. So out of the 3 options “Click to Continue” was always going to win the human vote. But then its not always about the humans in this internet game.

Still an interesting read non the less.

I guess, one doesn’t need a study to validate this… anyway now we all have one to quote, even 8% sounds such a cool number.

There are all kind of people on the internet; everyone is not a evolved user like the bloggers or the web designers or for that matter the so called internet buiness guys.

Many new users actually struggle thru their way on a site… a “tool tip”, “anchor text” with a button looking thingie is definite help for a someone to move on and click.

Thanks for bringing in this number to us.

I agree, *click here* anchor text has it’s place. There are times when that’s just what you want the reader to do — even when it doesn’t look pretty. Thanks!

> [Jakob Nielsen] confuses his abstract preferences with what works in the real world.

He does a lot of usability tests with real users and gets his ‘evangelism’ from that.

I think it makes total sense, but I personally click on links with anchor text that describes the link…and rarely on “click here” links.

WOW, that’s crazy. Read More gets negative hits.

To me, “click here” is confusing. I don’t know what will happend if i click it… but ok, good article. Statistics says it all… but i’m still against it 😛

It always works for me!

I think “A Wenham” has it right–create multiple options to navigate, and then *you can do your own testing* to determine which one works best in your context.

If you’ve got a Big Red Fez that you want folks to click on, at some point it’s smart to just tell them to click on it. But that doesn’t mean there’s no other way to get there.

As Brian C. mentioned, perhaps a bit plaintively, he’s not advocating a whole page of “Click heres.” His main point (it seems to me) is that we can’t take X or Y or Z as gospel without testing to make certain. I’m sure he’d say the same for any tip that he gave you here–these are copywriting techniques that are put forward because they’ve traditionally tested well, but that doesn’t mean you don’t continue to test.

Please for the love of god don’t stop underlining hyperlinks, though. Or if you do, be sure you test it with users who haven’t seen your site, and watch them wave the mouse around (or not) to try to figure out what they can click on. Not pretty.

Maybe this observation needs to be narrowed down to previews/split-article/multi-page article constructions and not generalized (as some people seem to be doing) to all hyperlinks in all contexts.

Accessibility doesn’t have to be compromised if you’re working with a web page (email is its own Pandora’s box ).

so why did you opt for the link to read “Vote for it at Digg” as opposed to “Click Here to Vote for it at Digg”

Because what I want them to do is *vote.* Clicking alone accomplishes nothing for me, so I tell them exactly what I want them to do (just as I advised in the article). The only people who will be willing to comply with that request understand the clicking part. A big part of this has to do with understanding who you’re talking to.

Just a point of clarification on sight-impaired users, as they scan a page similarly to sighted users. They use a function in screen readers to list links, which reads the link text or the link title if it is available. Lists of ‘Click Here’ are very redundant and pointless if there is no context included with the link.

I think the test cited in Marketing Sherpa is interesting, but it is only a valid test for those three options. I would be more interested to see the results against more creatively written calls to action.

While I do not see a problem of ‘Click Here’ being used once in a while, seeing it used more than once or twice on a page is redundant, and not in a good way. The user can only click one or the other, and the more it is used on a page, the more it distracts.

‘Click Here’ is an action, but it also needs a reason. Combining the action and the reason provides a very powerful context for the reader.

Brian,
how about adding a title tag to the click here-link? That would give users an actionable anchor text, while also catering for those who need more ‘departure’ information (and of course our beloved search engines…)

(if this comment appears several times, please excuse me and delete duplicates. [long explanation omitted ])

Working with SEO experts I’ve been advised that using ‘click here’ as the actual link is a waste of a good link. A link containing keyword rich content that links through to a page all about that keyword is loved loved loved by Google. So how about a compromise?

How about ‘Click here to find out why data management is essential for your business’ and have the word data management underlined (or in a different colour font) rather than click here?

Great advice… with all of the ‘SEO’ tips and tricks out there it is sometimes easy to forget that site visitors are human beings. So much of the internet and web design has to do with psychology. SEO techniques should ALWAYS be considered secondary.

Could I suggest you take a look at a suggestion I have that could allow you your ‘click heres’ but not at the complete expense of accessibility and/or search?

Thanks – hope you find it useful (and maybe even take it on board!)

Your comment makes sense. I think the trick is not to use click here every time there is a link. Instead, save it for your call to action – otherwise it will lose impact. It’s exactly the same as “Phone Now” on QVC. Everything else can be a standard link.

@Alex
I agree entirely – so many pages have been so heavily SEO’d that they don’t read well when humans use them, and are little better than lists of keywords disguised as links and copy. No wonder many (most?) sites fail to provide a return on investment despite being high in the search rankings.

Nicely done. A simple concept many miss. I like the test results though, and will use “Click To Continue” more often. I noticed in these results that it seems that the text should not “tell” a reader to do an action (i.e. read more) but rather just inform them of the result IF they decide to follow the instructions in the text.

Joseph Ratliff
Author of The Profitable Business Edge 2

this article is cute, but boils down to: given 3 different choices (“Click here”, “Click to continue”, “Read more”) the audience of a sector-specific newsletter responded more to “Click here” links. from that you seem to extrapolate an absolute “see, ‘click here’ works, i was right all along”. the data is inconclusive, since it only compares three out of a far wider range of options, and i’m sure a fourth, stronger, context-specific, active call to action that doesn’t necessarily require ‘click here’ can be found (if it was the case of an extract, with link to the full article, i would have loved to see comparison to something like “Read the full article”, appropriately highlighted with styling to really stand out).

Aside from all the criticisms already mentioned, I can’t understand why you are so confident drawing conclusions from a single study that, while explaining methodology, does not indicate sample size (unless I am missing out on the full report somehow by not being a member).

Hi Mark. As I’ve mentioned a few times in this comment thread (like right above you), I make a living marketing online, and I do rigorous testing so I can make more money. “Click” always wins in my own testing for actionable links, but it’s nice to see someone publish independent results.

I agree I do need to test, but frankly it’s pretty obvious that “Here” is the problem. None of the statistical data you present uses it either.

There is nothing wrong with actionable words used in links. There is a problem with useless words like “Here” being used in links.

What I took from this post is that “click here” works as a CALL TO ACTION. It’s direct without being pushy. Personally I would want to qualify it a little, but that’s just me.

If I was going to buy, say, an e-book, I would feel far more predisposed to click a link that said “Click here to buy the e-book” rather than “Buy the e-book”.

Even without extra text in the link, I think people are missing the fact that you can describe a link outside of the linkable text itself.

“Want to learn more about copywriting? _Click here!_”
“This article is worth reading about. _Click here._”

I wouldn’t just put “click here” randomly around the page, and I don’t think that’s what Brian is endorsing, though some people seem to have taken it that way. Copywriters should leave the reader with an idea of what they want them to do (ie. buy), so the ultimate result of “click here” should be fairly obvious. Nobody would structure every link and navigation button as click here; that’s a strawman argument if ever I’ve seen one.

How do I get the click here on my articles or blogg?

Why not do both? A simple image – either image of the text itself, or a fancy graphic that says “Click Here To Continue” could be used. Then set the ALT attribute of the image tag to the engine preference name, like “Best Real Estate in the Nation!”

Then both people and the engines, click here.

Data Choices
We compile. You decide.

It’s important to note that the study was conducted on an email newsletter – not web content. They also said it was “inhouse”. What does that mean? They tested it themselves, or they commissioned the study?

Frankly, I wouldn’t trust marketingsherpa to provide accurate usability/design/development/content advice.

I didn’t bother to read the actual report because by the time I got to the second page of the “free trial” signup I got sick of answering irrelevant compulsory questions, I live in a country that doesn’t have abbreviated state names, and on one page I thought I had a 6 month free trial and on the next learned it was a 7 day trial.

As it has been already said (#5), “click here” may work in certain situations, as in this follow up situation, but I wouldn’t recommend in a context-aware situations.

For instance, I would have used
“Read the original Marketing Sherpa”

instead of
“Click here to read the original Marketing Sherpa”

And not for SEO reasons.

great tip – i’m going to go reformat some of my blogs to reflect that.

Yeah I tend to disagree with you and im sure im not the only one. However you do raise a good point. I think cleck hear etc is more for accessibility reasons…

I completely agree! Dealing with and being out in the public on a daily basis i see it too often. If you don’t give some people a explicit instructions they will just don’t get it.

Besides it makes it easier for most people, they don’t need to think.

The way I see it, you might as well change your own website navigation to say “click here to go home”, “click here to learn more about me”, “click here to contact us”, etc. Click here (actually not here but on the next line) for more:

But that would be silly, wouldn’t it?

This is so sad. “Click here” is wrong, period, period, period. The action you want people to take is to read something, buy something, view something, whatever. Clicking is the means whereby. And anybody with their hand on a mouse knows that. Seeing these two words adjacent to each other reduces my trust and confidence in a site by about 20%; I assume it’s made by amateurs and things don’t work.

And anybody with their hand on a mouse knows that. Seeing these two words adjacent to each other reduces my trust and confidence in a site by about 20%; I assume it’s made by amateurs and things don’t work.

Or maybe what’s sad is that you–the professional–don’t understand that users are “amateurs,” and therefore your personal preferences are of very little consideration when it comes to what works.

Do what works, not what you prefer. That’s how true professionals operate.

The study you cite is of an email newsletter, not a web site. I would grant that crossing the application divide between email and web requires a little handholding — they are different media and things need to be a little bit more explicit than usual — but when people are using the web, they know a link is a link is a link.

Look at amazon.com’s homepage, for instance. There are many calls to action, but just one “click here”, and it’s in the footer, and even that’s one too many.

Very interesting post Brian. I am doing this for “Read more” links on my site.

I agree. I think the word “click” would be the most effective thing to place in an attempt to get more views.

Anecdotally I’ve seen this method work. In a recent email with 6 external links to the same site, “click here to do x” received 42% of the clicks.

I think it would be better for the visitor to know what to do rather then guess so the more informative you are the better it is..

From a users point of view “click here” will seem more natural than using an anchor text of your choice. Yes,from an SEO POV it’s better to use an anchor text, but over optimizing your targeted keyword could raise eyes brows in the SE.

it’s nice to see a blogger actually doing some research before giving “the facts”! Sometimes it’s easy to forget the basics. Good post.

If you’re trying to get ranked for specific key words on the search engines, this would kill you. Google is all about looking at anchor text of inbound links to rank you for keywords that match that text.

Makes more since to me to have:

Click here to order the Ultimate Egg Dying Ebook

We had a similar dilemma about Click Here. In the right context though, it works.

Well it is always a bit consufing but thanks for the post it made everything a bit more clear.

Hi there!
I just did a follow up post on this, without realizing it.

Basically, I think ‘click here’ can be improved even further by not actually using ‘click here’ as a call to action. They are very ordinary, needless words:

I would imagine that if you continued your test with my examples, it would improve click through rates even more!

I would love to know what you all think…

Rich (website optimizer fanatic)

I’ve noticed that reverse psycology works well. Although it’s usually better not to say you don’t want someone to do something that you do want them to do on a professional page, it seems whenever I stress the importance of NOT clicking on a link, it makes them curious of why not, so they usually do.

You are absolutely correct and i also support the concept of visitor enhanced optimization. After all your site is for humans, not search engines.

I am dying to know if you are tracking traffic from a recent post containing a ‘click here’ link to this page, “Five Ways to Make Your Email Marketing Work Better”.

Can u explain the whole thing?

@USman, not sure if you actually read the post or were just trying to feel included… seriously, did you read the post?

I think tell is visitor to click a nd follow direction you would like him to is good as long as you dont make the user feel really dumb

I agree. I think the word “click” would be the most effective thing to place in an attempt to get more views. I also feel that offering a special deal or offer would have better conversions though.

It seems like we’re insulting the readers’ intelligence by hyperlinking ‘click here’ rather than highlighting text within the sentence and hyperlinking it assuming the reader will figure out to click it but turns out we’re not. I’m going to be as literal as possible from now on. Thanks

It must work as I clicked a “click here” from one of Sonia’s articles!

Guess it’s a bit like the “wet paint” warning sign – we can’t resist touching to see if it really is web paint 🙂

Sorry, I couldn’t resist 😉

“standard mongers”
the kind of people that have a three page website validated strict with absolutely no updated content.

There a great amount of times where your page will not meet “standards”, w3c dictates a lot of behavior and they are good general rules but not religion.

Most big websites in fact do not validate there is no ROI on nitpicking.

google.com

I ran into one exception while checking sites, and that was IBM.com, now you will be saying “OH ibm can do it why can’t you” well you will notice there front page is all static content (news is displayed through static swf), if you go to there troubleshooting page(first random page i clicked) you will notice it does not validate(I would like to know if there is a big website with dynamic, update content that does indeed validate).

In short if something works use it if you have good enough reason to the contrary.

Bioware Supporter says

WOW, that’s crazy. Read More gets negative hits.

Personally, I prefer a nice clickable button rather than a text link. It’s hard to resist an attractive button… so shiny… must press…

I’ll also use clickable graphics like a picture of an e-book.

So, it’s been three years or so since the Marketing Sherpa study on “click here” was done, according to the click here above 😉 — any chance there is a new point of view supported by research or can I go to the naysayers in my group and say that “click here” is still the best way to direct folks?

I like to think of it in terms of an offer – quid pro quo – you give me this and I’ll give you that. Not all links are offers, many are informational in nature, but as marketers we tend to make offers, right?

Take for example a link that reads: “Click here to download the xyz PDF”

Spelling out for the reader what needs to be given (a click) in order to receive (a pdf) makes a lot of sense in that context.

Lots of interesting comments about effective calls to action. Depending on the context, I think “Click Here” as well as other more compelling words such as “Donate To Save…”; “SignUp Now” etc. can work well. I agree with your readers that think the most important thing is to HAVE a call to action and ask your prospect/customer to act. I did a webinar on this recently for those who use Goldmine CRM who may be interested. You can download it at http://www.intelliclicksoftware.com

Is the use of ‘Click Here’ even Section 508 compliant? I mean you could get away with ‘Click Here for X’ but not just ‘Click Here’. I’m sure blind people would be a little confused with a link that just said ‘Click Here’. If the ALT text was a little more descriptive, then leaving ‘Click Here’ as the link text would be fine since the screen reader just looks at the ALT text.

Making a call to action like “Click Here” easy to see and easy to understand is a excellent idea that I will start using more often.

So true, I will test this tonight for sure…

Loved the post. My assistant and I have the same argument about whether to make Click Here part of the anchor text. I have always been told not to – big waste of key words. You make a valid point that the whole world doesn’t revolve around Google sEO

I see some merit in this. I have just changed my ‘about me’ blurb to end with ‘Click to continue’ instead of ‘Read more’. Will be interesting to see what affect this has.
I tend to agree with anthing internal can be click here, anything external, I personally prefer to know a bit about where you’re sending me. I often balk at multiple ‘click here’ cause I figure if you’re lazy enough to send me away multiple times in the same sentence, can I too be bothered. Probably not.

This is a simple, but widely overlooked way of getting people to take action. I was always curious of the exact stats so thanks for bringing that up 🙂

I agree that everyones just gone nuts with the Google SEO stuff…

It’s not about what Google can do for you, it’s about what you can do for Google (which is serve up good content).

I use ‘Click here’ sometimes, it’s much more user friendly. Chances are if I’m using ‘click here’ anchor text, I will already have another keyword rich link on the page anyway – hence it’s not a waste of a link.

I use “click here” anchor text only if the article or reference is a competitor for my key words but as a rule of thumb always use my keywords for anchor text, especially if I am linking to webmd or another psychiatric site with authority that I am not going to go head to head with.

Does telling someone to click here and then use the keywords as the anchor text still work or will google see “click here” and put the kabosh on the link?

the value of Click Here might be an outdated idea, and what seems to work more these days is the direct relevance between the article being read and the article being linked to. Click Here by itself is less a threat to the google spiders that it once was… My thoughts, anyway…

The problem is with your test alternatives…”click here” is ambiguous. Who wants to “read more” from an email. Your tests would have been more compelling if your alts were, “Start your application” or “order today”…who wants to just read your article. In addition, you don’t provide any numbers to back up your percentages, so it’s impossible to make judgements without knowing their statistical significance. Were all these tested on the same article? same day, same database?

I could write an essay on this.. but this does make me chuckle how wrong it is on so many levels.. even legally in many countries..

So if design is good, following accessibility recommendations, the display and behaviour of links should clearly signify what is clickable and what is not – these aspects convey what the text ‘click here’ is explicitly and unnecessarily describing. Contrary to popular belief, humans are not actually that stupid, whilst content should (generally) be pitched for a comprehension level of an 8 year old, interaction is a different kettle of fish. I see two year olds picking up devices and quickly learning what they can interact with by following these design cues.

So by using these design cues to indicate call-to-action, we are now free to use the meaning of the link text to convey additional helpful information SPECIFIC to the destination page, i.e. putting the ensuing interaction in context. I’m a great fan, and so is Google, of using the page title of the destination page as the link text (Is that a coincidence?) Users like consistency, it reduces the cognitive load and it makes them feel comfortable when they land on a page with content that the link that they have just clicked described. A page title, and it’s referring link, should as accurately as possible describe the contents of the page.

A final point – this generic link naming approach is probably not WCAG compliant, and would be breaking disability discrimination law in more than a few countries because of the way screen readers work. At best it would be introducing usability issues for this user base. You’d have the RNIB all over you if you tried to do it on a website of any significance in the UK..

Good points Stuart;

I will often use something like “click on the link ‘anchor text’” to read more on such and such. I feel this allow me to maximize my keywords for the anchor text.

Matt Gillooly says

I always, always put an action verb for links or registration to webinars. ‘Click here’ or ‘RSVP now’ things like that.

Descriptive Anchor Text
Whenever I just include a descriptive summary for the link’s anchor text I assume no one will click it. What reason do I have to click through if my anchor text gives away the main idea behind the link?

By the way, as someone who lives in Mountain View I find this line hilarious.
“Somehow, this person no longer saw links as navigation for actual people to use; they only exist to pass on “juice” according to an algorithm that no one outside of Mountain View fully understands.”

If you were making a magazine would you do a similar thing on the contents page?
“Turn to page 45 for an article on widgets”
“Turn to page 54 for an article on Acme Corp”
“Turn to page 64 for an article on the ugliness of Click Here”

Roblox: Youre Moments Away from Getting into the Game

Roblox

These phrases are simple, easy to remember and will go a long way to help you make friends and have your first conversations in the language.

Making small talk is something you’re going to do a lot of. So there’s every reason to know how to do it properly.

Besides, small talk is the gateway to real communication; you need to be able to do it in order to really speak to a person.

Making small talk is not something most of us enjoy in our own language, so doing it in a foreign language can be a bit daunting. But trust me, being able to engage in small talk will allow you to get a conversation started.

Making conversation in whatever way you can as a beginner will allow you to grow in confidence and figure out what you need to learn next in Spanish.

Here are some phrases you can use to get the conversation going:

Did you notice anything strange about the pronunciation of the phrase ¿Cómo te va?

The ‘v’ in va is pronounced almost like a ‘b’.

In English, the letter’s ‘b’ and ‘v’ represent different sounds, but in Spanish, they represent the same sound.

This sound is different from anything we have in English. It’s like a B, but softer. Listen to how I pronounce the word ¡Vale! (‘ok’) in this recording to see how it sounds:

To find out more, check out my complete guide to the difference between ‘b’ and ‘v’ in Spanish.

What should you do when you don’t understand something? Or if you need to ask someone for help?

It’s important to know some basic Spanish phrases you can use for dealing with problems when they arise. If you need someone to speak more slowly or to repeat something, the best thing to do is just ask them!

The word despacio in the last phrase is interesting. Notice that the ‘c’ is pronounced like ‘th’ in this context.

This is the traditional Spanish pronunciation used in Spain. However, in Latin America, people pronounce the ‘c’ as an ‘s’ sound (e.g. des-PAS-ee-o).

Think about all the times you’ve signed up for things in your life. Did you once download Evernote? Dropbox? Spotify? Maybe you’ve even taken a class on General Assembly.

Each one of these signups is likely a result of an effective call-to-action (CTA).

Think about it: If you hadn’t been drawn in by the copy or design of the CTA, or been guided so eloquently through your sign-up process, you would probably use a lot fewer apps and websites than you do now.

It’s really important to guide your visitors through the buying journey using strategic CTAs.

What is a call to action (CTA)?

CTA stands for call-to-action, and it’s the part of a webpage, advertisement, or piece of content that encourages the audience to do something. In marketing, CTAs help a business convert a visitor or reader into a lead for the sales team. CTAs can drive a variety of different actions depending on the content’s goal.

What is a CTA in Marketing?

As a marketer, CTAs are relevant because they encourage your audience to take action on a marketing campaign.

Ultimately, the goal of any marketing campaign is to guide your audience in the buyer’s journey so they eventually make a purchase.

However, each marketing campaign might have a different action for the audience to carry out because there are several tactics you can use to guide your audience in their journey.

Below are a few examples of the types of CTA button copy you might use in marketing:

Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game! The above types of CTAs all serve a designated purpose, but keep in mind the language they use can vary. And today, marketers everywhere have put some creative spins on their calls to action to generate the leads their businesses depend on.

To help you identify what’s effective and what’s not, we’ve listed out examples of CTAs that totally rock. These call-to-action examples are broken out into three categories:

Best Call to Action Examples of 2022

1. HubSpot

One of the perks of using HubSpot is the wealth of free resources they offer. This slide-in CTA found in an article discussing marketing intelligence, demonstrates how a well-placed CTA can improve user experience.

It’s unobtrusive and comes in midway through the article, not only prompting readers to “download now” but offering a useful and free resource. The marketing kit offers an out-of-the-box solution for those who may not know where to start.

Why this CTA Works

This slide-in CTA offers a free resource that is directly related to the topic of the article it appears on. Readers can finish the article and then download the guide with templates to get started making a marketing kit of their own. (Click here to learn how to add slide-in CTAs to your blog posts.)

2. The Budgetnista

Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!Image Source

Run by personal financial educator and author Tiffany Aliche, The Budgetnista is a one stop shop for personal finance. In addition to providing content that delights her audience, she’s also a pro at creating inviting CTAs.

Instead of simply putting a sign up CTA to promote her newsletter, she uses language that entices the reader to click. “Sign Up For Weekly Goodies” sounds a whole lot more interesting than “sign up for my newsletter.” Who doesn’t want weekly goodies?

Why this CTA Works

The friendly and creative use of language encourages visitors to take the desired action. It also mirrors Aliche’s personality, which is a nice touch and helps personalize the interaction.

3. Glossier

Beauty brand Glossier has its marketing image down, showcasing realistic images of women with a variety of skin types. Who can forget their boy brow campaign? Their website is clean with lots of white space that make the photos of the models and makeup pop.

Their CTA is an overlay that appears when you start scrolling down their site. While many would quickly click out of the pop up, the language Glossier chooses makes you want to stick around. “Let’s take this to your inbox” is a clever way to ask folks to sign up for your newsletter. If you’re down to join simply click “i’m in” and you’re done.

Why this CTA Works

Like The Budgetnista, Glossier uses clever phrasing that makes the brand more relatable and entices people to take action. The image of a model with great Glossier makeup and the illustrations included also aid in making this CTA appealing.

Growth agency and HubSpot partner 310 Creative aims to help B2B companies scale and refine the buyer’s journey to increase sales. Knowing that visitors to the site may not quite know what specific services they need, 310 Creative makes use of a CTA that removes confusion.

The slide-in CTA solicits visitors to book a free assessment to get some clarity on where their business may be falling short and discover why these outcomes are happening.

Why this CTA Works

Not only does it remove barriers by explicitly stating the service is free, this CTA also demonstrates empathy for the visitor. By describing an issue followed by “If this sounds familiar, let’s talk” it demonstrates that 310 Creative is here to help and understands the user’s frustration.

5. Heyday

Heyday is a bit of a rebel in the facial industry. Its minimalist, no-frills approach has made it a favorite among those who just want to see an aesthetician without the fuss and upselling.

That minimalist, but friendly approach shows up in their CTA too. Making great use of some models with glowing skin, this CTA entices viewers to sign up for their newsletter with a discount. The “sign up and save” button is persuasive, along with the humorous “No thanks, I prefer full-price skincare” hyperlink to opt out.

Why this CTA Works

Heyday employed beautiful aesthetics, a discount, and humor to encourage visitors to take the desired action.

6. VRBO

If you love browsing beautiful vacation homes in your spare time, VRBO is a great place to do it. The brand makes great use of aspirational aesthetics and gorgeous locales.

The dark blue CTA pops against VRBO’s white background, drawing the reader in. Then the “discover your escape” button adds a touch of adventure for those who may be interested in renting a vacation home.

Why this CTA Works

VRBO makes great use of color and phrasing. It’s not a vacation, but rather an adventure where they can serve as your trusted guide.

7. Hulu

Streaming giant Hulu went for a dramatic approach with this CTA. The dimmed background shows off all its television and movie offerings, while the green and white text of the CTA draws your attention to the promotion.

It’s a sign-up and upsell in one, informing users that they can get a discount add-on with Disney+ and ESPN+.

Why this CTA Works

This CTA entices visitors with the impression they’re getting a deal with the bundle. Instead of just having a sign up button, it’s “get the disney bundle.” It puts the emphasis on providing value to get visitors to take action.

Apparel company Hija De Tu Madre, keeps it fresh with a clean, pink and white color scheme that exudes youthfulness and freshness. Most of what makes their CTAs so appealing is the clever play on words, mixing both spanish and english, an ode to their target audience.

Click here for help. HDTM%202.jpg?width=650&name=HDTM%202. Click here for help фото. Because they’re so dialed into their audience, Hija De Tu Madre can extract more information from their visiors. Instead of just having a CTA that requests an email (first image), they’ve introduced a mobile phone request in a second CTA. How do they persuade folks to hand over their digits? By offering them a chance to win merch — specifically their popular denim jackets.

Why this CTA Works

Offering something visitors consider valuable in return for their personal information — in this instance a coveted denim jacket, will make people more likely to share more information. The key is to know your audience and tap into their interests.

9. Wool and the Gang

This CTA from Wool and the Gang will make you feel all fuzzy on the inside. The collage background of customers donning their Wool and the Gang garments plus a cute pup really draws the reader in and fits with the brand’s audience.

The CTA button states “share your knits #woolandthegang” which encourages customers to share what they’ve made using Wool and the Gang products, working as both brand promotion and customer engagement.

Why this CTA Works

This CTA not only grabs the visitor’s attention, it creates a sense of community and entices visitors to join. This particular CTA also doubles as brand promotion as more customers share their kits across social media.

Home decor and design company Tweak It Studio showcases the importance of having fun, but clear CTAs.

They get the visitor’s attention with «Just Dropped” in big bold letters to inform readers on new products on offer, then combine it with a CTA button that states exactly what the item is — in this case “personalized wood names.” It’s much more effective than just having a button that simply states “buy now.”

Why this CTA Works

This CTA uses urgency with “just dropped” to get visitors to check out new items in the store and also communicates clearly in the button where the visitor is headed next after clicking.

Dropbox has always embraced simple design with a lot of negative space. Even the graphics on their homepage are subtle and simple.

Thanks to that simple design and negative space, the blue «Sign up for free» call-to-action button stands out from everything else on the page. Since the CTA and the Dropbox logo are the same color, it’s easy for the visitor to interpret this CTA as «Sign up for Dropbox.» That’s one effective call-to-action.

While scrolling through a post on their blog, a banner slid in from the bottom of the page with a call-to-action to subscribe to their blog. The best part? The copy on the slide-in told me I’d be getting tips about how to become a better manager — and the post it appeared on was a post about how to become a better manager. In other words, the offer was something I was already interested in.

Plus, I like how unobtrusive slide-in CTAs are — as opposed to what my colleague Rachel Sprung calls the «stop-everything-and-click-here-pop-up-CTA.» I find these CTAs offer a more lovable experience because they provide more information while still allowing me to continue reading the blog post.

How to Replicate this CTA

You can create your own slide-in CTA using HubSpot’s marketing tools. After designing your CTA using our templates, and create a HubSpot account. Go to Marketing > Lead Capture > CTAs in your HubSpot account and follow the CTA instructions here.

5. Netflix

CTA: Join Free for a Month

Click here for help. netflix cta.jpg?width=650&name=netflix cta. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-netflix cta.jpg?width=650&name=netflix cta. картинка Click here for help. картинка netflix cta.jpg?width=650&name=netflix cta. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

One big fear users have before committing to sign up for something? That it’ll be a pain to cancel their subscription if they end up not liking it. Netflix nips that fear in the bud with the «Cancel anytime» copy right above the «Join Free for a Month» CTA. I’d venture a guess that reassurance alone has boosted signups. Also, you’ll notice again that the red color of the primary and secondary CTAs here match Netflix’s logo color.

How to Replicate this CTA

Not only can you get a visitor’s attention with a stark contrast in color, but you can use language in your CTA that entices them to click. Consider using “Try for Free,” or something similar in your CTA that removes the risk for potential customers.

6. Square

CTA: Get Started

Click here for help. square cta.png?width=650&name=square cta. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-square cta.png?width=650&name=square cta. картинка Click here for help. картинка square cta.png?width=650&name=square cta. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

To achieve effective CTA design, you need to consider more than just the button itself. It’s also super important to consider elements like background color, surrounding images, and surrounding text.

Mindful of these additional design components, the folks at Square used a single image to showcase the simplicity of using their product, where the hovering «Get Started» CTA awaits your click. If you look closely, the color of the credit card in the image and the color of the CTA button match, which helps the viewer connect the dots of what to expect if/when they click.

How to Replicate this CTA

You can use color to help visitors connect the dots whether it’s coordinating similar tones like in this image, or by using brand colors like the Dropbox example.

7. Prezi

CTA: Give Prezi a try

Click here for help. prezi cta.jpg?width=650&name=prezi cta. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-prezi cta.jpg?width=650&name=prezi cta. картинка Click here for help. картинка prezi cta.jpg?width=650&name=prezi cta. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

The folks at Prezi are also into the minimalist design look on their website. Other than the green dinosaur and the dark brown coffee, the only other color accompanying the predominantly black-and-white design is a bright blue — the same blue from their main logo. That bright blue is strategically placed on the homepage: the main «Give Prezi a try» CTA, and the secondary «Get Started» CTA, both of which take users to the same pricing page.

How to Replicate this CTA

This page took a minimalist color scheme, but incorporated two CTAs with the same color button that direct visitors to the same landing page. If your page has a clean, minimalist design consider trying two CTAs with different text to draw visitors in.

8. Full Bundle

CTA: Our Work

Click here for help. full bundle cta.png?width=650&name=full bundle cta. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-full bundle cta.png?width=650&name=full bundle cta. картинка Click here for help. картинка full bundle cta.png?width=650&name=full bundle cta. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

Full Bundle is another company that uses negative space to make their primary CTA pop. The white «Our Work» call-to-action stands out against the dark greys of the background. Their choice of CTA is strategic, too. Given that they primarily exist to build out clients’ online presences, it’s important for them to showcase their work — and that’s what most folks are going to their website for.

How to Replicate this CTA

Make creative use of negative space like Full Bundle’s gray tones. As you can see, the different shades of gray make triangles, adding a subtle design element that makes their white CTA pop out at the bottom.

9. Panthera

CTA: Join

Click here for help. panthera cta.jpg?width=650&name=panthera cta. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-panthera cta.jpg?width=650&name=panthera cta. картинка Click here for help. картинка panthera cta.jpg?width=650&name=panthera cta. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

The folks at Panthera are looking for users who really care about wild cats around the world and want to join a group of people who feel the same way. To target those people in particular, we love how they use language that would speak to big cat-lovers: «Join the pride today.» The page itself is super simple: an on-page form with two, simple fields, and a button asking folks to (again) «Join.»

How to Replicate this CTA

Establish a connection with your target audience by using vernacular related to your brand that would appeal to them in your CTA.

10. EPIC

CTA: Let’s start a new project together

Click here for help. epic cta.jpg?width=650&name=epic cta. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-epic cta.jpg?width=650&name=epic cta. картинка Click here for help. картинка epic cta.jpg?width=650&name=epic cta. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

The folks at the agency EPIC use their homepage primarily to showcase their work. When you arrive on the page, you’re greeted with animated videos showing some of the work they’ve done for clients, which rotate on a carousel. While there are plenty of other places users might click on their site — including their clients’ websites — the main call-to-action stands out and always contrasts with the video that’s playing in the background.

I love that it features friendly, inclusive language —»Let’s start a new project together» — which gives a hint to users looking for a creative partner that they’re an especially great team to work for.

How to Replicate this CTA

Use inviting language. It’s easy to make a button that just says «join us,» but that’s not very convincing. Consider something friendlier like «let’s work together» or something specific to the service you offer.

11. Aquaspresso

CTA: Send Me Specials Now!

Click here for help. aquaspresso CTA example.png?width=650&name=aquaspresso CTA. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-aquaspresso CTA example.png?width=650&name=aquaspresso CTA. картинка Click here for help. картинка aquaspresso CTA example.png?width=650&name=aquaspresso CTA. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

The whole point of a call-to-action is to direct your site visitors to a desired course of action — and the best CTAs do so in a way that’s helpful to their visitors. The folks at coffee company Aquaspresso really nailed that balance here with the pop-up CTA on their main blog page.

Here, the desired course of action is for their blog readers to check out what they’re actually selling (and hopefully buy from them). There are many ways they could have done this, including putting out a CTA that urges people to «Check out our most popular products!» or something very direct. But we love what they’ve done instead: Their CTA offers blog readers something much more helpful and subtle — an offer for «today’s specials» in exchange for the reader’s email address.

Adding that the specials are for today only is a great example of a psychological tactic called scarcity, which causes us to assign more value to things we think are scarce. The fear that today’s specials are better than tomorrow’s might make people want to fill it out and claim their offer while they can.

How to Replicate this CTA

The call-to-action above was created using HubSpot’s templates. Consider introducing a sense of urgency for website visitors by using scarcity in your CTA. You can use phrases like «limited time offer» or «get today’s deals» to motivate visitors to take the desired action.

12. QuickSprout

CTA: Are you doing your SEO wrong? Enter your URL to find out

Click here for help. quicksprout slide in CTA.png?width=450&name=quicksprout slide in CTA. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-quicksprout slide in CTA.png?width=450&name=quicksprout slide in CTA. картинка Click here for help. картинка quicksprout slide in CTA.png?width=450&name=quicksprout slide in CTA. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

No one wants to be wrong. That’s why a call-to-action button like QuickSprout’s slide-in CTA on their blog is so clickworthy. It asks the reader, «Are you doing your SEO wrong?» Well, am I? All I have to do is enter my URL to find out — seems easy enough. It’s language like that that can really entice visitors to click through.

Plus, having the CTA slide in mid-blog post is a great tactic for catching readers before they bounce off the page. Traditionally, many blogs have CTAs at the very bottom of each blog post, but research shows most readers only get 60% of the way through an article.

How to Replicate this CTA

Use language in your CTA that grabs the visitor’s attention or speaks to a pain point they may be having. The case above uses SEO, but you could use something like «Having trouble converting leads?» and then position your service as the remedy. (Click here to learn how to add slide-in CTAs to your blog posts.)

13. Grey Goose

CTA: Discover a cocktail tailored to your taste

Click here for help. grey goose cta.jpg?width=650&name=grey goose cta. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-grey goose cta.jpg?width=650&name=grey goose cta. картинка Click here for help. картинка grey goose cta.jpg?width=650&name=grey goose cta. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

Here’s a fun, unique call-to-action that can get people clicking. Whereas site visitors might have expected to be directed to product pages or press releases from the homepage, a CTA to «Discover a Cocktail Tailored to Your Taste» is a pleasantly surprising ask. People love personalization, and this CTA kind of feels like an enticing game. The play button icon next to the copy gives a hint that visitors will be taken to a video so they have a better idea of what to expect when they click.

How to Replicate this CTA

Personalization works wonders for establishing a connection with visitors. Consider implementing a CTA that suggests a personalized experience for visitors based on the product or service you offer. For example, you could say «Explore plans that fit your budget,» or «choose a design tailored to your brand.»

14. Treehouse

CTA: Claim Your Free Trial

Click here for help. treehouse cta.png?width=650&name=treehouse cta. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-treehouse cta.png?width=650&name=treehouse cta. картинка Click here for help. картинка treehouse cta.png?width=650&name=treehouse cta. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

A lot of company websites out there offer users the opportunity to start a free trial. But the CTA on Treehouse’s website doesn’t just say «Start a Free Trial»; it says «Claim Your Free Trial.»

The difference in wording may seem subtle, but think about how much more personal «Claim Your Free Trial» is. Plus, the word «claim» suggests it may not be available for long, giving users a sense of urgency to get that free trial while they can.

How to Replicate this CTA

If you offer a free trial for your service, instead of just using a button that says «free trial,» personalize the experience by using «start your free trial.»

15. OKCupid

CTA: Continue

Click here for help. okcupid cta.png?width=650&name=okcupid cta. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-okcupid cta.png?width=650&name=okcupid cta. картинка Click here for help. картинка okcupid cta.png?width=650&name=okcupid cta. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

OKCupid’s CTA doesn’t seem that impressive at first glance, but its brilliance is in the small details.

The call-to-action button, which is bright green and stands out well on a dark blue background, says, «Continue.» The simplicity of this term gives hope that the signup process is short and casual. To me, this CTA feels more like I’m playing a fun game than filling out a boring form or committing to something that might make me nervous. And it’s all due to the copy.

How to Replicate this CTA

People enjoy games so if it works for your produt or service, try to gamify your CTA to spark interest.

16. Blogging.org

CTA: Countdown Clock

Click here for help. blogging dot org pop up CTA.png?width=650&name=blogging dot org pop up CTA. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-blogging dot org pop up CTA.png?width=650&name=blogging dot org pop up CTA. картинка Click here for help. картинка blogging dot org pop up CTA.png?width=650&name=blogging dot org pop up CTA. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

Nothing like a ticking timer to make someone want to take action. After spending a short amount of time on blogging.org’s homepage, new visitors are greeted with a pop-up CTA with a «limited time offer,» accompanied by a timer that counts down from two minutes.

As with Aquaspresso’s example in #10, this is a classic use of the psychological tactic called scarcity, which causes us to assign more value to things we think are scarce. Limiting the time someone has to fill out a form makes people want to fill it out and claim their offer while they can.

Curious, what happens when time runs out? So was I. Hilariously, nothing happens. The pop-up CTA remains on the page when the timer gets to zero.

How to Replicate this CTA

Similar to Aquaespresso, consider using scarcity to give visitors to your site a sense of urgency to take action.

17. IMPACT Branding & Design

CTA: What We Do

Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

CTAs can feel really pushy and salesy (yes, that’s a word. ) if the wrong language is used. I like IMPACT’s educational approach, where they challenge visitors to learn what the company does before pushing them to take any further action. This call-to-action is especially intriguing to me because they don’t even use an action verb, yet they still manage to entice people to click.

How to Replicate this CTA

Entice visitors to learn more about your business by using language in your CTA that persuades them to see what you do. Use something like «see our past projects,» «what we do,» or «view our work.»

18. Huemor

CTA: Launch (Do Not Press)

Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

How to Replicate this CTA

If your brand is more playful or in the creative industry, you can use that to your advantange in a CTA using gamification or reverse psychology like Huemor’s example.

19. Brooks Running

CTA: Find out when we have more

Click here for help. brooks%20running%20shoe%20cta.png?width=650&name=brooks%20running%20shoe%20cta. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-brooks%20running%20shoe%20cta.png?width=650&name=brooks%20running%20shoe%20cta. картинка Click here for help. картинка brooks%20running%20shoe%20cta.png?width=650&name=brooks%20running%20shoe%20cta. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

How many times have you hotly pursued a product you love, only to discover it’s sold out? Well, as you might know, it’s no picnic for the seller either. But just because you’ve run out of an item doesn’t mean you should stop promoting it.

Brooks Running uses a clever call to action to ensure their customers don’t bounce from their website just because their favorite shoe is out of stock. In the screenshot above, you can see Brooks touting an awesome-looking shoe with the CTA, «Find out when we have more.» I love how this button turns bad news into an opportunity to retain customers. Without it, Brooks’ customers would likely forget about the shoe and look elsewhere.

When you click on the blue CTA button depicted below, Brooks directs you to a page with a simple code you can text the company. This code prompts Brooks to automatically alert the visitor when the shoe they want is available again.

How to Replicate this CTA

For ecommerce businesses, sending customers to a page that states the item is out of stock can be a turn off for customers and cause them to bounce. Consider adding a CTA that says «notify me when restocked,» or «find out when we have more» to keep them engaged and gain their email information.

20. Humboldt County

CTA: Follow the Magic

Click here for help. humboldt country cta.png?width=650&name=humboldt country cta. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-humboldt country cta.png?width=650&name=humboldt country cta. картинка Click here for help. картинка humboldt country cta.png?width=650&name=humboldt country cta. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

Humboldt County’s website is gorgeous on its own: It greets you with a full-screen video of shockingly beautiful footage. But what I really love is the unconventional call-to-action button placed in the bottom center, which features a bunny icon and the words «Follow the Magic.»

It enhances the sort of fantastical feel of the footage, making you feel like you’re about to step into a fairytale.

What’s more, once you click into that CTA, the website turns into a sort of choose-your-own-adventure game, which is a fun call-to-action path for users and encourages them to spend more time on the site.

Click here for help. humboldt choose adventure cta.png?width=650&name=humboldt choose adventure cta. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-humboldt choose adventure cta.png?width=650&name=humboldt choose adventure cta. картинка Click here for help. картинка humboldt choose adventure cta.png?width=650&name=humboldt choose adventure cta. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

How to Replicate this CTA

Great for travel companies and creative firms, CTAs like Humbolt’s lure reader in. If your brand has some creative leeway, use it. You could try a phrase like «find your next adventure,» or «plan your trip.»

21. Uber

CTA: Sign up to drive | Start riding with Uber

Click here for help. uber double cta.jpg?width=650&name=uber double cta. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-uber double cta.jpg?width=650&name=uber double cta. картинка Click here for help. картинка uber double cta.jpg?width=650&name=uber double cta. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

Uber’s looking for two, very distinct types of people to sign up on their website: riders and drivers. Both personas are looking for totally different things, and yet, the website ties them together really well with the large video playing in the background showing Uber riders and drivers having a good time in locations all over the world.

I love the copy of the driver CTA at the top, too: It doesn’t get much more straightforward than, «Make money driving your car.» Now that’s speaking people’s language.

How to Replicate this CTA

Targeting two types of customers? You can create CTAs for each of their personas similarly to Uber.

22. Spotify

CTA: Go Premium | Play Free

Click here for help. spotify cta.jpg?width=650&name=spotify cta. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-spotify cta.jpg?width=650&name=spotify cta. картинка Click here for help. картинка spotify cta.jpg?width=650&name=spotify cta. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

As soon as you reach Spotify’s homepage, it’s pretty clear that their main goal is to attract customers who are willing to pay for a premium account, while the CTA for users to sign up for free is very much secondary.

It’s not just the headline that gives this away; it’s also the coloring of their CTA buttons. The «Go Premium» CTA is lime green, making it pop off the page, while the «Play Free» CTA is plain white and blends in with the rest of the copy on the page. This contrast ensures that visitors are drawn to the premium CTA.

How to Replicate this CTA

If you offer both a paid and free version of a service, consider using two separate CTAs, choosing a color that pops for the paid option versus something more understated for the free version.

23. Ugmonk

CTA: Send me the coupons | I’m not interested

Click here for help. ugmonk exit CTA.png?width=650&name=ugmonk exit CTA. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-ugmonk exit CTA.png?width=650&name=ugmonk exit CTA. картинка Click here for help. картинка ugmonk exit CTA.png?width=650&name=ugmonk exit CTA. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

Exit CTAs, also known as exit intent pop-ups, are different than normal pop-ups. They detect your users’ behavior and only appear when it seems as though they’re about to leave your site. By intervening in a timely way, these pop-ups serve as a fantastic way of getting your reader’s attention while offering them a reason to stay.

Ugmonk has a great exit CTA, offering two options for users as a final plea before they leave the site. First, they offer a 15% discount on their products, followed by two options: «Yes Please: Send me the coupon» and «No Thanks: I’m not interested.» It’s super helpful that each CTA clarifies what «Yes» and «No» actually mean, and I also like that they didn’t use guilt-tripping language like «No Thanks: I hate nature» like I’ve seen on other websites. Finally, notice that the «Yes Please» button is much brighter and inviting in color than the other option.

How to Replicate this CTA

Exit intent CTAs are extremely useful for ecommerce. You can offer a discount on services or something else of value to entice visitors to convert.

24. Pinterest

CTA: Continue with Facebook | Sign Up

Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

Want to sign up for Pinterest? You have a couple of options: sign up via Facebook or via email. If you have a Facebook account, Pinterest wants you to do that first. How do I know? Aesthetically, I know because the blue Facebook CTA comes first and is much more prominent, colorful, and recognizable due to the branded logo and color. Logically, I know because if you log in through Facebook, Pinterest can pull in Facebook’s API data and get more information about you than if you log in through your email address.

Although this homepage is optimized to bring in new members, you’ll notice a very subtle CTA for folks with Pinterest accounts to log in on the top right.

How to Replicate this CTA

Allow users to sign up with Facebook or Google in your CTA. This saves visitors time signing up and you’ll be able to gain more information about them.

25. Madewell

CTA: Take me there | What’s next?

Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

Madewell (owned by J.Crew) has always had standout website design, taking what could be a typical ecommerce website to the next level. Their use of CTAs on their homepage is no exception.

This gamification is a great way to make your site more interesting for users who come across it without having a specific idea of where they want to look.

How to Replicate this CTA

Use gamification in your CTA to persuade visitors to explore your site further. They may not know specifically what they are looking for or how your company can help. Creating fun prompts can help visitors find what they are looking for.

26. Instagram

CTA: Download on the App Store | Get it on Google Play

Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

How to Replicate this CTA

If you have an app, consider adding a CTA for each platform visitors can download it from. This remove friction and makes it easier for visitors to download your app without having to search.

27. Barkbox

CTA: Get Started | Give a Gift

Click here for help. barkbox cta.jpg?width=650&name=barkbox cta. Click here for help фото. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

The two CTAs on Barkbox’s homepage show that the team there knows their customers: While many people visiting their site are signing up for themselves, there are a lot of people out there who want to give Barkbox as a gift. To give those people an easy path to purchase, there are two, equally sized CTAs on the page: «Get Started» and «Give a Gift.»

As an added bonus, there’s an adorable, pop-up call-to-action on the right-hand side of the screen prompting users to leave a message if they’d like. Click into it, and a small dialogue box pops up that reads, «Woof! I’m afraid our pack is not online. Please leave us a message and we’ll bark at you as soon as pawsible.» Talk about delightful copy.

How to Replicate this CTA

Similar to Uber, you can use multiple CTAs to serve different audiences. Play with language and come up with phrases that work best for your brand voice.

28. t.c. pharma

Turns out Red Bull isn’t its own parent company: It’s owned by Thailand-based t.c. pharma, a company that makes popular energy drinks, electrolyte beverages, and functional drinks and snacks.

Its homepage features two call-to-action buttons of equal size: «Find out more» and «View products» — but it’s clear by the bright yellow color of the first button that they’d rather direct folks to «Find out more.»

How to Replicate this CTA

Use color to persuade visitors to take a desired action. If you have a preferred button that you’d like people to click, make it the more prominent of the two.

29. General Assembly

CTA: View Full-Time Courses | Subscribe

Click here for help-general assembly cta.png?width=450&name=general assembly cta. картинка Click here for help. картинка general assembly cta.png?width=450&name=general assembly cta. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

As you scroll through the General Assembly website, you’ll see CTAs for various courses you may or may not want to sign up for. I’d like to point your attention to the CTA that slides in from the bottom of the page as you’re scrolling, though, which suggests that you subscribe to email updates.

Although this feels like a secondary CTA due to its location and manner, I actually think they try to sneak this in to become more of a primary CTA because it’s so much more colorful and noticeable than the CTAs for individual classes.

How to Replicate this CTA

When you create your own CTAs, try using bolder colors — even ones that clash with your regular stylings — to see if it’s effective at getting people’s attention. (Click here for a tutorial on how to add slide-in CTAs to your webpages.)

30. charity: water

CTA: Give by Credit Card | Give by PayPal

Click here for help. charity water cta.jpg?width=650&name=charity water cta. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-charity water cta.jpg?width=650&name=charity water cta. картинка Click here for help. картинка charity water cta.jpg?width=650&name=charity water cta. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

Charity: water’s main goal is to get people to donate money for clean water — but they can’t assume that everyone wants to pay the same way.

How to Replicate this CTA

For payment CTAs, consider giving visitors options for how to pay. What matters most is that they make the purchase.

31. Hipmunk

CTA: Flights | Hotels | Cars | Packages

Click here for help. hipmunk cta.png?width=650&name=hipmunk cta. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-hipmunk cta.png?width=650&name=hipmunk cta. картинка Click here for help. картинка hipmunk cta.png?width=650&name=hipmunk cta. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

When you land on the Hipmunk site, your main option is to search flights. But notice there are four tabs you can flip through: flights, hotels, cars, and packages.

When you click into one of these options, the form changes so you can fill out more information. To be 100% sure you know what you’re searching for, Hipmunk placed a bright orange CTA at the far right-hand side of the form. On this CTA, you’ll see a recognizable icon of a plane next to the word «Search,» so you know for sure that you’re searching for flights, not hotels. When you’re on the hotels tab, that icon changes to a hotel icon. Same goes with cars and packages.

How to Replicate this CTA

Use icons to provide further explanation of your CTA to users.

32. MakeMyPersona

CTA: Grab the template! | No thanks

Click here for help. make my persona exit CTA.png?width=450&name=make my persona exit CTA. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-make my persona exit CTA.png?width=450&name=make my persona exit CTA. картинка Click here for help. картинка make my persona exit CTA.png?width=450&name=make my persona exit CTA. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

Here’s another example of a great pop-up with multiple calls-to-action — except in this case, you’ll notice the size, color, and design of the users’ two options are very different from one another. In this case, the folks at MakeMyPersona are making the «Grab the template!» CTA much more attractive and clickable than the «No, I’m OK for now, thanks» CTA — which doesn’t even look like a clickable button.

I also like how the «no» option uses polite language. I find brands that don’t guilt-trip users who don’t want to take action to be much, much more lovable.

How to Replicate this CTA

Being friendly shouldn’t just be for getting visitors to take the desired action. Using friendly language is just as important in CTAs for those who would like to opt out. Consider using a phrase like «no thanks» or something similar to what MakeMyPersona used to keep it cordial even if customers aren’t ready to make a purchase yet.

33. TeuxDeux

CTA: Get Started for Free | Try for Free

Click here for help. teuxdeux example.png?width=650&name=teuxdeux. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-teuxdeux example.png?width=650&name=teuxdeux. картинка Click here for help. картинка teuxdeux example.png?width=650&name=teuxdeux. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

Another example of simplistic design, TeuxDeux’s main website features one phrase and two CTA buttons.

Using the company’s colors, the background is just a splash of red and some black.

The CTA buttons stand out against the color and emphasize that you can try the product for free.

I like these CTAs because they show that the company understands its audience. Whenever I’m researching to-do list apps, I always want to try it before I buy it. It’s something that people are very particular about and want to test-drive. TeuxDeux’s CTAs shows that they understand this about their audience.

How to Replicate this CTA

Know your audience and allow them to test drive your service. Tap into their needs and interests and include them in a CTA to help them navigate to what they need faster, risk-free. It could be something like «get started for free,» «download templates for free,» or «try for free.»

34. Betabrand

CTA: Get involved

Click here for help-betabrand example.png?width=650&name=betabrand. картинка Click here for help. картинка betabrand example.png?width=650&name=betabrand. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

Betabrand is a clothing company that sells yoga/dress pants for women. Usually, clothing brands tend to use similar CTAs such as «Shop Now.»

However, Betabrand’s homepage CTA is unique in that it involves the audience. Here, users can vote and impact the design of new products.

This is a fun way to get the audience involved and do something different.

How to Replicate this CTA

Encourage visitor participation by using a voting or survey type CTA when appropriate. It helps customers develop a personal relationship to the brand because they are contributing to the decision making process.

35. Fabletics

CTA: Limited Edition

Click here for help-fabletics example.png?width=650&name=fabletics. картинка Click here for help. картинка fabletics example.png?width=650&name=fabletics. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

This Fabletics CTA uses several marketing tactics: scarcity and a holiday.

On the homepage, the brand announces a limited edition collection that’s tied to a holiday (Mother’s Day).

Additionally, the CTA uses a bright color so the CTA stands out on the simple homepage.

How to Replicate this CTA

Combine CTA types when it makes sense. For example you could use scarcity with a limited time only promotion for a grand opening, holiday, or to celebrate a new product launch.

36. Ashley Stewart

CTA: Shop the Lookbook

Click here for help-ashley stewart example.jpg?width=450&name=ashley stewart. картинка Click here for help. картинка ashley stewart example.jpg?width=450&name=ashley stewart. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

Ashley Stewart is a clothing brand catered to plus-sized women. In this CTA, the company uses a fun design to entice website visitors. The entire collage of images looks like a behind-the-scenes camera roll, which is interesting to look at.

Additionally, the CTA copy is straight to the point, which is helpful for visitors who are looking to browse.

How to Replicate this CTA

Sometimes short and sweet is the best approach. Use your CTAs to get to the point and get visitors what they want. You could use something like «shop this look,» or «download the guide now.»

37. Amazon Music

CTA: 3 months free

Click here for help. amazon example.jpg?width=650&name=amazon. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-amazon example.jpg?width=650&name=amazon. картинка Click here for help. картинка amazon example.jpg?width=650&name=amazon. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

This is a great example of several of the elements we’ve talked about in one CTA.

Amazon uses two strategically placed CTAs, colorful, yet simple design, and offers the product for free.

With this CTA, Amazon is promoting one of its own products and services on its homepage instead of other products listed for sale on the site.

The only message they want to get across? That you can try their product, Amazon Music, for free for three whole months. This CTA accomplishes that goal with a simple design.

How to Replicate this CTA

Offering a free trial? Make it known by using a prominent CTA that pops and eliminating unnecessary features that clutter the landing page.

38. Barnes and Noble

CTA: Shop Now

Click here for help. barnes and noble example.jpg?width=650&name=barnes and noble. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-barnes and noble example.jpg?width=650&name=barnes and noble. картинка Click here for help. картинка barnes and noble example.jpg?width=650&name=barnes and noble. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

Barnes and Noble uses a simple CTA to entice visitors to shop a limited collection during the Mother’s Day holiday.

I like this CTA because the landing page design is so cohesive with the branding of the overall company.

Additionally, the graphics and the fonts are all interesting and match the brand’s messaging.

How to Replicate this CTA

Create a cohesive look that appeals to your audience and aligns with your brand voice. Play with fonts and colors that compliment each other and are pleasing to the eye. Keep the CTA simple with a «shop now,» or «download now» button.

39. Slack

CTA: Learn More | Contact Us

Click here for help. slack example.jpg?width=650&name=slack. Click here for help фото. Click here for help-slack example.jpg?width=650&name=slack. картинка Click here for help. картинка slack example.jpg?width=650&name=slack. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

Slack uses beautiful, simple design on its homepage to entice visitors to click on one of the two CTA buttons.

I like this example because Slack has two CTA buttons for two different audiences. If you’re just getting started in your research, you can click «Learn More.» However, if you’re a repeat visitor and know that you want to talk to a sales person, you can click «Contact Us.»

This is a great example of serving two audiences with your CTAs on your homepage.

How to Replicate this CTA

Serve two audiences with separate CTAs on the same landing page. You can make them distinct using color to contrast the two buttons or draw more attention to the desired choice.

40. Nintendo

CTA: Compare Features

Click here for help-ninetendo example.png?width=650&name=ninetendo. картинка Click here for help. картинка ninetendo example.png?width=650&name=ninetendo. Я сижу в Google захожу в Roblox и нажимаю кнопку "Play" Потом у меня высвечиваются "ROBLOX is now loading. Get ready to play!" и потом "You're moments away from getting into the game!

On Nintendo’s website, the company is focused on answering any questions a visitor might have.

In fact, one of the main CTAs is «Compare Features.» With this CTA, Nintendo answers one of their most popular questions because they understand that many visitors are still doing their research before purchasing a product.

How to Replicate this CTA

Have multiple pricing or feature options? Consider using a CTA that helps users compare their choices so they can make a more informed decision.

Create Your Own CTAs

There you have it. Now you can see just how important a few small CTA tweaks can be. Take inspiration from the examples above and create CTAs that convert.

Full Disclosure: We don’t have data to know if these are all scientifically successful, but these examples all follow our best practices. If you decide to recreate these CTAs on your site, please remember to test to see if they work for your audience.
